Gals, almost 5,000 steps on the pedometer today~ I have a lot more running around to do!
-
living4today, you are almost thru rads! Don't be too hard on yourself about 'crashing'...your body is still being put thru the ringer. Happy you find motivation here, I just love it!
Joy, awesome picture! I love when I can see all your beautiful faces!! Here's hoping for NO rain!!
Deanna, LA, what a rat race! No wonder you were pooped.
Diane, yay, 5,000 steps!!
Allie, enjoy the retreat, glad you found a suit!
I am ENJOYING my younger DD so much! DH is taking her out for a spin in Bev (porsche) right now, so I told them I am writing to my girls while they go out for a bit.
Went for a nice long walk and along the trail there was a herd (is that what they're called) of goats brought in to eat the weeds, brush...it was so cute watching all the babies running around after their mamas. Got home and took out the bikes, so an hour and 20 min...good thing cause I skipped yesterday!!
This quote is appropriate for me since spending time with DDs.
Love is the immortal flow of energy that nourishes, extends and preserves. Its eternal goal is life. Smiley Blanton

6,579....tomorrow I will do MORE! I feel good though. I got out there and weeded the yard, fed the birds all in 95 degree heat!
Tomorrow I am getting together with some BC gals from my area that I met on this awesome site! Will post pictures tomorrow evening.
hugs

Wow IvoryMom you just made me so hungry, that sounds delicious. Need to get some breakfast in myself too, we want to get our for our run/walk early, summer has finally arrived here and it is a scorcher today. Business trips always mess with my schedule too. It can be hard getting on the equipment at in the hotel before the start of the day or after meetings before the endless supper meetings (full of food that you normally wouldn't be ordering). When I have my computer with me I take my yoga DVD's which really helps. It is so hard sitting so much of the day isn't it?
-
Unfortunately that is my real hair. Grey, curls and all! Put my shoes on and barely got off the couch from being stiff - love arimidex, not! Walked the dog and did 20 minutes of abs, buns, and thighs workout and now getting ready to go to church. I'm going to different churches to find a "home". Sun is finally out but watching the tropics for the storms heading this way. It seems a no win deal around here. We do have a bunch here diving this weekend. One guy came from San Deigo and a few from PA. We have a lot of ship wrecks around here and then of course there is the pirate ships too. Diving is one thing I never got in to. Have a great day and will be back on Monday. Joy

OK, kmmd, I'm checking this out. I've recently started rowing and it's fantastic! So much fun. It's also motivating me again at the gym. My Tae Kwon Do school has been on vacation the past 2 weeks and, though I'm testing for 2nd degree black belt in less than a month, I've been taking a break for the TKD and focusing on the rowing. Finding ways to actually use the ergometer (rowing machine or "erg" for those in the know
) at the gym. Luckily I haven't run into anyone else using it at the gym. I've been backing off a bit on my gym time since I'm rowing on two of the days I go to the gym (Mon and Wed) and that's after work and I go to the gym before work. I'm maybe going once or twice a week now and it's not enough. TKD starts back up this week so maybe that'll be my blow out from now until the test.
Anyway, highly recommend rowing for anyone that's ever been curious about it!
-
Jorf, so happy to see you hear, I will have to look into it. You'll have us rowing after so many turned on to zumba, wonder what is next!
-
Jorf,
If you like using the erg, try getting in a boat on the water! Many boat clubs have learn to row classes - hopefully you are near one. There's nothing better than being out on the water. I've been rowing 2 or 3 times a week since June 1st and will be able to continue thru October.
-
4,000 steps by 11 AM AND a bike ride this morning with the kids.....I tried to push it but with a 3 and 4 year old how fast can I go LOL.
Rowing huh........I think they have one of those machines at my gym. Sounds like it would be a great workout for the whole body!

Diana you are DOING IT!!! You GO GIRL!!
Reporting in. We're on a family vacaiton in Hilton Head... DH and I walked for 75 minutes this morning! Running off now to look at an open house, we can dream! Apparently the bike tires have been pumped with air, so there is no excuse! lol.
Have a wonderful Sunday you beauties!
Spring.
-
Glad to see so many of you staying motivated.
Now maybe we should all get goats so we do not have to do so much weeding. Mine are taking over. I have pulled and pulled, but they just keep coming back because of all the rain. I hate the idea of sprayiing, but I am about to call in the calvary, and go hide.
-
10,000 steps today and 2 bike rides! Loving the pedometer. It really keeps me motivated. Now if I could just get myself to the gym.......I just got my 3 year old potty trained (don't want to jinx it) so I am hoping to get out to the gym soon!
Wishing all a great week. Let's keep it up!
-
Wow, rowing,Tae Kwon Do... all kinds of great, new ideas here, and I'm so glad to see that everyone seems to be working hard at whatever they're doing. Diane ~ Great job with the 10,000 steps + 2 bike rides. Personally, I managed to get in an hour of vigorous swimming yesterday, and it felt great. I think it really helped loosen up my left shoulder (mast side) a lot. I'm going to try to add it to my daily routine, as long as the pool water says nice & warm. And I got in a total of 15.9 miles of walking/running this past week.
Spring ~ Another vacation week? Lucky you! Enjoy it!!!
Meg... My DH snapped my new avatar on Saturday as I was leaving for an art gallery opening -- so I had on full makeup (DH calls it war paint) and wig. But I can see that walking/running is really having an impact on my body, especially after the horrible shape I was in post-chemo. Deanna
-
Deanna--you look lovely!! Hot mama...
I love the swimming idea--it always feels so good but I agree getting into a cold pool is so hard! I will have to try that though...such good exercise.
Spring--yay, hilton head! Have fun!
I just did the walking loop with the dog today--about 2.5 miles. Off tomorrow to 5 days of vacation--will at least get some hiking, swimming and tennis in. Even got a new tennis outfit!
Have a good week ladies!
-
Diane, You are Zena!!!
you go girl!! You are rocking with the pedometer!
We walked again last night. Gotta figure out if we walking or biking this am. Then shopping later, will be lots of exercise!
Yes i am doing all this vacation because my really really really BIG surgery is Sept 3. You all will have to think good thoughts and prayers for me !!! Going to NOLA to have my implants out and have natural tissue put it. I don't have enough fat in either belly or butt, so they are taking it from both, huge 10 hour surgery, huge incision, I try not to think of it, it sort of freaks me out.
AND GIRLS, IMAGINE HOW LONG IT WILL BE UNTIL I CAN EXERCISE!!!!! ahhhck! I am going to get behind!!! Well, will just have to build back up agian once all the tubes are out!
Spring
-
OMG, Spring, that really is a huge surgery! I had Diep -- barely enough tummy tissue for 1 side -- but can't imagine more healing than that required, although I did mine along w/my mast. Are you having big problems with your implants? Also, this is probably a silly question -- but will you have hip incisions on both sides, so that you're even???
Allie ~ Have a great vacation! Deanna
-
Good morning cuties!
Deanne, OHHHHHHH my! You are one HOT chick!! haha!!
Spring, I am thinking really gooood thoughts for your upcoming surgery. Curious also as to why ditching the implants?? I have to schedule a class for plastic surgery at some point before I can meet with a doc.
Great weekend with DDs. Yesterday went to older DD's where younger DD and I helped redo her front landscape! The girls did most of the hard work as DDs were worried about my LE risk. But my legs are sore!!! Nice lunch and shopping with them before we had to say goodbye.
Shout outs to all...busy morning at work, but wanted to say hi!
Kindness is tenderness. Kindness is love, but perhaps greater than love...Kindness is good will. Kindness says, "I want you to be happy."

Hi everyone, long time without posting. After a slight hiccup I am back running again (had some swelling show up so had to slow down - lurked alot but didn't want to be a downer for everyone) - did keep walking though, but wasn't quite the same.
Kari - that is my favourite quote to date
I am just so in awe of you great ladies doing your bit every day, life goes on. Hello to everyone.
Spring - wow! You have such a vibrancy in all your posts - sorry to hear that you had to have the implants out and now going this alternate route. Recovery is frustrating but I know you will be back into it as soon as you can.
Allie have a great holiday.
big hugs

Kari ~ Sounds like you got a nice workout landscape gardening. Is that a peek at the work you did in your pretty new avatar? Is that your own hair already??? It looks so long. And I'm with Helena on today's quote. Good one!!
Hi, Helena! Glad you're back! Hope you have that swelling under control.
Spring ~ When I was scheduled for my Diep, I was so afraid of losing the "just enough" (per my PS) amount of tummy fat I had due to pre-surgery stress, that I ate a piece of New York style cheesecake every day for the 2 weeks leading up to my surgery. Just thought I'd share that idea with you. It worked for me.
It was just 78 degrees here this a.m., so I was able to walk 10,140 steps. What I did today was sort of keep an eye on my pedometer, and when I reached 5,000 steps, I just turned around and retraced my route, knowing I'd hit 10,000 that way. Deanna
-
Spring: Just thinking of you with that big surgery in NOLA. And sending you healing vibes for a speedy recovery. But you will be there and finished before you know it. Let us know how you do and take care. You are always such a breathe of "spring" air.
One think is for sure, I, unfortunately, have more than enough fat on both tummy and butt that they could get all they want from either location. I am hoping to lose some in the next year but first I have to get that old energy back...chemo really did a job on me!
Hugs to all my friends on this thread.
Mandy

Helena, good to see you back here! I agree with Meg, we're all in this together, whether it be good or bad days!!
Deanna, my hair is growing so fast! It did start to grow back in Dec, while still in chemo! Its all crazy wavy with some curls in the very back, but now its reminding me of 80's feathered hair! LOL!! My DD was trying to do this roll thing with the bangs that I have, and it just looked ridiculous so she clipped them up. We laughed a lot this weekend.

Had to show a pic, maybe you can see my hair?? And this is my younger DD, I am biased but she is a looker! Must take after me! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jk
The pics are in my backyard, I forgot the camera at older DDs!!!!!!!
My DH keeps saying he wants to buy me a pedometer, I hope he does soon! It will be very interesting to see how many steps we take each day, cause I sure sit on my toosh a lot at work!
Its a scorcher today, brought some shorts to put on and will hit the mall after work, now the kids are back in school around here, it shouldn't be crowded.
Penny, I've been thinking about you and wondered how your surgery went last week??????
Hugs to all...Spring, enjoy Hilton Head! Stopped there once on the way down the coast to Disneyworld many many moons ago!
-
Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to report in on today's vacation activities!!!
- 1 hour of biking with DH(very hard on the beach, easier on pavement! LOL)

- Swam in ocean with DH
- Yoga in the evening!
More tomorrow. I just love vacation! There is so much time to exercise!
Spring

I started exercising right before I had surgery. I went to these Zumba classes. Loved them! I now have something to look forward to doing, when I am fully mobile again. In the meantime, I just walk around the house, like my PS suggested I do.
kifinnigan - your hair looks great. My sister just finished chemo in May. Her hair is starting to grow in. I can't wait to see her (last time I saw her was May). You look very thin!
All of you ladies are so motivated. Good for you!
-
Good morning cuties!
Spring, Awesome, Yay for vacations and exercising!! Enjoy and breathe deeply!
Hi kittycat! welcome! So you Zumba too, like our Lisa, who's been missing in action as of late. Ok, so your sister just finished chemo and you also are in treatment? That sucks girl! But here's praying for the best possible outcomes and futures!
Let's make it a Great one all!

Hi everyone!
I've been gone for a while, was majorly cleaning for my DD & family to come visit this past weekend. The grown-ups went with in-laws to MIS Nascar race & DH & Grandma got to play with the Grandkids. YAY !!!!!! We had so much fun. Two 1/2 days of FUN!!!
Didn't get any Nordic sking done for a week but got right back on it this morning after family left for home. Felt good! Now need to get my eating back on track as well, tho I did lose 2# in the last 2 wks.
Kari ~ I know exactly how you felt spending that quality time w/your DD's. With my youngest visiting here, my oldest DD spent time here as well. The oldest DD lives 2 miles away. I LOVED IT! Sons-in-law are the best! By-the-way, LOVE your new avatar. You are so pretty as well as your DD! Really love your backyard.
Deanna ~ LOVE your new avatar as well. You look refreshed & so young looking!! (not that you didn't before, you know what I mean! LOL) When you said you ate cheesecake everyday for 2 wks, I would not have a problem w/that. My favorite dessert of all time!! ;D
Joy ~ Your newest avatar is lovely, your canine friend looks soooo content!
Allie ~ I also read the article on giving lidocaine now for SNB, I SURE could have used some when I had mine done!! LOL Ouch!!!!!
Helena ~ Never, ever worry about being a downer here, we are here to pick each one of us up when we stumble. I have had my down days for sure, & when I posted that I was, my sister-girlfriends here put out their hands & picked me back up. LOVE YOU ALL !!!!
Welcome kittycat ~ When my DD visited, I also catsat her kitty, Squash. He sleeps most of the time, so really no problem, just lots of cat hair.
Welcome Jorf!! Glad you joined us!
Meg ~ Wow, you bench-press? I've never done that, I just lift my hand weights here at home. I've never been to a gym. You go girl!!! I was happy to see that latest report about lifting weights for BC gals who have undergone surgery & are worried about LE. I was thinking I wasn't being as careful as I should be, glad to see what I've been doing is ok.
And, last but NEVER not least, Beverly, (love your name by the way, it was my Mom's), I, along with all of the gals here, will be "with" you when have your BIG surgery. We will be sending many good wishes & lots of {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} You will be back on track faster than most, I'm certain of that!
Hope I haven't forgotten anyone! Glad to be back in motivation!!!
Sorry this is soooo long!
{{hugs}}

Love it Val! Welcome Back and glad you had terrific quality family nurturing time!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!
-
Well, looks like KittyCat is another Zumba lady!
So far today: 70 minute bike ride with DH. Lunch was too much food, so must eat lite for dinner!
-
Kari you and DD are beautiful. Jealous over how much hair you have, and how slender you stayed during chemo.
Sorry to not giving a should out to all. Working hard to get work done and keep up with working out. Have a good day to all
-
Its really hot and muggy here in Ont so my exercise is an hour spent swimming in the backyard pool..Anything ladies as long as we are keeping active daily.
-
Thank you everyone for your kind words - it is such a beautiful feeling of comfort reading them, such beautiful women. Boy, I am so soppy these days - but fit ... LOL!!
Running day today (no swelling to be seen anywhere) - it is so great to be doing everything (bar push ups) again like I did before BC.
hugs to everyone
Helena
