Laetrile / Amygdalin / B17
Hello, I was recently diagnosed and went on the hunt for alternative therapies. I have read a lot about laetrile (derived from apricot pits) in conjunction with IV vitamin C. There are some very promising findings with its use. Has anyone used this therapy? Please share your experiences good or bad. I would love to hear what you have done!

I found some non-radiated apricot pits at my local health food store shortly after I was diagnosed. I have eaten them on again, off again, and currently do not have cancer. Well...my BC marker is at 13, so I'm considered cancer-free. Eating them probably contributed, but may or may not be the cause of being cancer free.
-
That is great news, whether the laetrile contributed or not! Did you do other treatments? How many seeds do you eat per day? I eat a few per day but take the 500 mg tablets (2) and do IV laetrile 2x per week.

I've thrown everything possible (naturopathic and allopathic) at this cancer, and all at once, so there's no telling what proportions of what worked. Two of the smartest things I have done are dramatically clean up my diet, and work on vitamin/mineral intakes. After surgery, I still had a large fibroid mass, which went away after a few weeks of iodine/Iodoral and vitamin B cofactors. I think I mentioned that in the iodine thread.
With the apricot seeds, I ate 5-7 a couple times a day. Think I'll go get a few now.

I agree that eating clean is essential. I actually just started taking iodoral (along with a slew of other supplements). I test my pH often to make sure that it is in balance. It seems to make sense that cancer cannot grow in an alkaline environment. Before I changed my diet, my pH was pretty acidic. Now it is usually in the optimal range. I have heard conflicting info about B vitamins though. I always had thought they were good for health in general. Especially since I found they reduced my instance of migraine pre-cancer diagnosis. When I got my dx and started going to a naturopath, he told me to steer clear of B because there seemed to be some evidence that it feeds certain cancers. I never really questioned him about it because I was doing so much in terms of diet and other supplementation. Does your naturopath recommend B?

Deni, my ND went through my extensive list of supplements, and only vetoed one of them (red clover). She put me on two additional ones (green tea and L-gluthamine). She knows that I take B-vitamins, and has no issue with them. She is a cancer specialist, so I feel comfortable with her judgement.
Seems like for every study that shows X is helpful, there are three studies that show X causes cancer.

I know. It is so true - and can cause so much confusion and anguish. I suppose we just have to chose the plan we feel most comfortable with and just stick with it!

How does one get the IV laetril? What dose is it, say how much per weight? I hear about Vit C, A, and D supplements to compliment. Again, how much? Am I missing something big in this list? Thank you.

Lily30, you've joined a discussion that was last active in 2009, so you may not get replies from any of these members.
However, you can read more about Amygdalin (also known as laetrile) at the main Breastcancer.org site. It's important to be aware that this substance is not approved for use in the United States, and is not recommended for individuals with breast cancer.

Yes. I do recommend based on personal use. You can do this yourself. Follow program posted at www.articlebase.com/cancer-articles/vitamin-b-17-can-a-vitamin-cure-cancer-the-story-of- laetrile. There are several older books on the subject that list foods high in laetrile. You can purcahse a dvd on Ebay for a few dollars: A World Without Cancer & Hoxsey: How healing Became A Crime. I purchased most of my items at Natural Grocers/Vitamin Cottage and at Amazon (laetrile B 17 & BITTER Apricot kernals) Also see www.cancertutor.com. You want to also juice vegatbles high in indole 3 carbinole i.e brocolli , cabbage, brussel sprouts and eat a raw low glycemic plant based diet as much as possible. See also cancer loves sugar amd cancer loves cooked food websites. Add EFA's (essentail fatty acids) to your diet this is flaxseed oil, fish oil etc. Omega 6's are pro-infmamatory and Omega's 3's are anti inflammatory. Also use MCP (modified citrus pectin from Thorne Labs or Nugenics). I also recommed Hoxsey Elixir and Essaic Tea. It much cheaper to make your own then buying ready made at Health Food Store. See Susan S. Weeds Book BREAST CANCER? BREAST HEALTH! for recipes. You can purchase organic bulk herbs from Mountain Rose Herb Farm in Oregon. I am Stage IV Currently (but should be cancer free soon) because I have cutaneous breast cancer mets . I am having amazing results with use of essential oil of Frankincense from www.shiningsunaromatherapy.com. I put on the affected areas 4 to 6 times a day. I started one week ago and the tumors are about half the size they were a week ago. I found current research about the use of frankincense in Stage 4 Breast Cancer online. I did low dose chemo for 6 weeks with no results except bad ones, lost hair, very sick, very expensive. I was diagnosed in October 2011 and have had better results with alternative treatments than standard treatments EXCEPT the life saving mastectomy with a laser in November 2012 by Dr. Vincent Ansanelli of www.laserbreastcancersurgery.com. I highly recommend removing all cancerous breast tumors via laser surgery to reduce cancer burden on your immune system. The laser evaporates the cell so there is minimal damage to tissue hence minimal pain/swelling/drainage/scar tissue or chance of cancer cells spreading via lymph or blood. Hope all this is helpful to you and others. Blessings!
