I think I forgot to mention that I bought some Maybelline clear mascara to use as a brow groomer.  Works just as well as a targeted product that costs 4 to 5 times more.  Only $6 and sometimes you can get Maybelline products for buy 1 get 1 free, like this week at CVS.

Also, think I've figured out at least part of the shedding hair problem.  I realized that since chemo and having curls, I have not been brushing my hair as I used to, hence, I'm not removing loose hairs on a daily basis.  When I get around to shampooing (maybe twice a week, maybe a little less) there is more there to come out.  I wish they still had an emoticon with the light bulb going off. LOL

What's the big sigh for, EW?  Everything okay?

Another forgot:  I bought Lid and Line from this new line I found at Target the other day.  http://www.pixibeauty.com/ No. 5, Smoky Mink gray-brown.  It says metallic but I certainly don't see that.  It is just a perfect color for filling in my ash-tone eyebrows, lining my eyes and a bit of shadow, too.  All with a pointy smudging tip!  Just what I had been looking for!

Tina Love - that is exactly what said that I thought might be happening with your hair! Don't you read my posts? Frown

Today, I have on some navy blue eyeliner. Maybelline has a nice sharp pencil with a smudger on the other side. It is quite a nice product. (Edited to say: product not project - time to get back to work). Lots of colors as well.

Oh no --- nothing wrong, it was more an "aha, another worry solved, relief" kind of sigh.

Will those Oleeva Strips work on old scars too?..........

Yes.  At least they worked on my year-old scars.  Don't have any older scars to try.  The company says they work best of fresh scars but will still benefit older ones.  I don't know how old is too old.  You might call the company.   The girl I spoke to there was very nice.

Popped a beer as that was the only thing in the house.  Am a bit mellower but now wondering why I am not losing weight. LOL  A slice of cold, leftover pizza, bunch of chips and a beer.  Sometimes I think I just love being bad.

Can you tell me where to get the Oleeva strips so I don't have to go back and search?  I have some scars that are still red and raised a year later.  I would love to have them at least flat.  Thanks for your attention.

http://www.silon.com/  For some reason the web site is not displaying correctly on my computer.

Here are their products shown on some other website.  I think the prices are the same.  Search for Oleeva.  www.makemeheal.com

Don't be afraid of the prices.  Mine lasted 3 months with proper care:  washing it once a day.  You don't have to wait for it to dry to re-apply.  Just pat dry with towel.

    Product report:

St. Tropez Tan - AWESOME!!!  I ordered from the company, some of the gradual tan mousse and it really REALLY really does not smell crappy.  I applied it after my bath this morning and have been waiting for the stink and it isn't there!  Wow!  I guess their Aromaguard technology does work.

Color looking natural, too.  It will take a few applications to build.  That's okay with me as long as the color is not yellow or orange and it doesn't stink.

ooh, Tina - thanks for the tanning product report. I've been using my two-year old bottle of Loreal Sublime, as it is not yellow and blotchy and produces a genuine tan look, but the bottle is almost empty. I use it only on my face - the rest of me gets the real sun (with sunscreen, of course).

Needed a change, so I went and had some bangs cut into my hair. Nice change. Hope I can stand them after a few days.

Hi girls. I know my activity on the board has been scarce, but I've had some really big changes occur in my personal life, and things were pretty shaken up around these parts...

BUT, I'm off today and have time to catch up on threads, and I want to tell you about a lot of new products I've tried.

Without going into detail, I ended things with M. about a month ago. In the last month I've really started to take better care of myself. I'm eating better, exercising, and playing with makeup and hair and wardrobe every day. I feel a lot better.

I have been so busyw ith work, and getting ready for my Vail trip, but in between I've really tested a ton of products and of course, have to give you girls a review.

First-- Hair stuff. So I use tons of shampoo and conditioner. I shampoo my hair almost every day, and use two conditioners in the shower. My hair is super long (down to the center of my breasts these days) and I need a cut and color, BUT, I decided to stray from my regular shampoo and conditioner (herbal essences in the whole variety of colors and scents) and I bought Garnier Fructise shampoo (for waves) conditioner, and the instant melting conditioner.

GIRLS, DO NOT BUY THESE PRODUCTS. They suck. The instant melting conditioner made my hair more knotty and ratty feeling in the shower, and I had to follow it up with my old conditioner. The waves shampoo had a huge lather, and I felt like it was drying to my hair. The regular conditioner was just okay... didn't make my hair look or feel better.. I'm sticking with my herbal essences.

Going to change clothes in the washer and then I'll continue....

    Okay moving along...

My mom bought this and hated it so she gave it to me, and I really like it.

Sally Hershberger Finishing cream for wavy hair.

You use this product after your hair is dry and styled, or when it's mostly dry and you just put a dime size amoutn and run it through your hair for beachy looking waves. If you style your hair wavy or curly, and you want to give it a piecy look, you use the cream on specific pieces. I love the way it smells, although depending on how much you use you will have to shampoo the next day.

BODY WASH--I generally don't switch body washes that often. Things that smell too flowery or fruity make me want to vomit, and I have sensitive skin, but I recently tried something new from NIVEA called Touch of Bliss Body wash. Something was super appealing about the packaging. It has a good lather, and feels soft, but not greasy-- definitely leaves my skin feeling smoother.

I combined that with this Body Butter I got from Target called Amazon Forest body butter in the brazil nut and vanilla scent. My skin has never felt better. I made the mistake of getting that dumb new venus razor with the 5 blades and the HUGE moisture stick around the razor. I find that the moisture part gets all funky and drips all over the blades... not a good purchase.

    Next onto makeup...

So I read a few magazines, and it's funny, that I'm not the kind of person that sees makeup in a magazine and runs out and buys those colors that are in the ad.... but OMG....

I saw this ad for new REVLON MATTE makup. The girl has reddish hair, that isn't really the focus of the ad-- her face is huge-- and she has brown eyes, and she's wearing the new Matte line on her eyes, cheeks, and lips... I looked at the face on the model and said-- hmmmm, my skin color is pretty close to this chic, and our eyes are the same color-- I know these colors would look good on me. So off to CVS I went.

I purchased the Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Peach Sorbet, Riviera Blue, and Vintage Lace. I also purchased the Matte Kohl Eyeliner in Midnight Blue, and the Matte Lipstick called Nude Attitude.

I went home an began to play. The first day I was a little afraid of the dark blue for work, so I only used it in the crease of the eye. The nude lip was VERY NUDE.... I have dark lips naturally, so it was a really new look for me. I needed clear gloss over top of it.

The next day, I went all out, and played the eyes exactly as they were in the picture. I loved it. It definitely is a look suited more for evening- b/c it was a really heavy eye, but that's not the point of telling you girls about these products.

The Matte line feels so good on my eyes, it feels velvety soft, and it stayed on all day (I do apply an eyebase first then powder) but it feels so soft on the face. The Matte lipstick feels great on my lips as well.

I'm always using bronzers and highlighters and shimmery stuff, and this is the exact opposite... pure color, that is soft, and gives your face a lasting finish. I highly recommend the Revoln Matte line...totally affordable too!!!

Lotta lotta info there.  Will have to try some of that NOT like I need it NOT.

Have been using that St. Tropez and still like it.  It is a verrrrryyyyyy gradual tanner which is good for a slapdash person like myself as daily applications tend to compensate for uneven application.  I doubt I screw up the same area two days in a row.

Product report:  Living Proof No Frizz stuff.   Thumbs up!  I tried the Curl Making version for thick and coarse hair.  You do have to use a lot and really cover all the frizzy areas.  If you let it dry without a dryer or diffuser, it works better.  Ask me how I know.  It is crispy when it finally dries but that goes away after you work it with your fingers.  Not sticky though.  Today (next day) my hair does not seem dirty or yucky.

I also received a free sample of the Straight Making stuff for thick/coarse hair.  I'll try that this week and blow dry and report back

This stuff is expensive but for those of us with problem hair it is well worth it for selected days at the very least.  I have tried the silicone products and never had any good results from them.  Only the Deva Curl AnGell styling gel has ever worked halfway decently for me.

Here's a question - I'm a big fan of Clinique City Base foundation. I love that its in a compact, how it wears, etc. It's not terribly expensive, but more than a drug store brand. Any thoughts of a comparable foudnation, or should I just leave well enough alone?

    Why mess with success?

If you want to try something new, though, I suggest going to a good dept. store and letting the girls try stuff out on you.  That's what they're there for!  You could also look in the phone book for cosmetics and see if any national brands have retail outlets (as in spas) or representatives locally.  Think Jane Iredale, Avon, Mary Kay, etc.  They would  LOVE  to see you, too.

I'm not a big foundation user (probably should use it more) but when I do use it my brand is Chanel  because it is the only one I've found so far that has some shades with a pinker base rather than yellow/beige.  I use Smashbox PhotoFinish (a silicone primer) under it and either use it as is (sparingly) or sometimes mix with a little moisturizer.

Sounds as if you are going to be having some fun.

I am very interested in the Revlon Matte stuff, B. I need a new eyeliner and some eye shadows and will try them out in browns.

Love the pics tina. Are those impatiens in the flower boxes? We are up at our camper for a long weekend and I have three big pots of petunias and two big pots of impatients up here. The impatiens are thriving, while the petunias are being petunias, moody. pretty one day, sagging the next. Love the bunny barn - how many bunnies?

Yes, Raye, coral impatiens.  The leftovers from the flats go in the bunny barn window boxes.

Usually around 20-25 bunnies.  Lots of fertilizer!

Barbie how much is the clinique foundation? I love the oil of olay definity color recapture for $30. I have got my sister, mom and all of my coworkers hooked on it. If you buy it from CVS, or a drug store brand that has a return policy on makeup, you've got nothing to lose from trying it out.

Two pumps is all I need to cover my entire face. Three pumps gives me more of a heavy coverage.

I went through that Nivea body wash so fast, so while I was in Target today I picked up a new body wash. DOVE go fresh burst in nectarine and white ginger. If you like citrus/fruity smells you will love this scent. The body wash is fantastic. I don't know why I'm on such a kick lately of trying new stuff but it sure is fun.

I asked at the Body Shop - they are carrying a line of non fragrant body washes etc - I find that I go to Gildas and the hospital, and am requested to observe non perfume rules.  So I get my usual product, just without the scent.

Thats the hard part...I am not having problems w/scents but a lot of people on chemo find the scents and aromas rather overwhelming. Just as I was having fun w/perfumes and such....really have to think what my day is before spritzing.  So glad there are unscented versions out there! Dream- what do you use from the Body Shop? I found a few things there last yr for my sister but have not tried anything myself. Do they have basic care stuff?

Ah, yes, I too saw it on GMA. The industry's contention that there is no proven link between sunbeds and skin cancer reminds me of the tobacco companies who asserted that smoking didn't cause lung cancer. But there are still many smokers and many tanners. I'm in the latter category and just hope not to get caught.... Undecided

But what I REALLY came on here to ask is for recommendations regarding microdermabrasion kits and glycolic peels. Has anyone used either and had it make a difference? I'm trying to get rid of some of the sun spots I've acquired (see previous post, but I actually don't tan my face and have been using SPF 70 on it) and am thinking of the microdermabrasion + the peel + hydroquinone (fades pigmentation). Any suggestions (even if you're "spotless")?
