I've been watching a bit of CNN tonight and just saw an anti-healthcare reform commercial featuring a supposed patient from Waterdown who claims she would have had to wait 6 months for a brain tumour operation, and would have died if she hadn't gone to the U.S.
How does one fight that crap? I know FOR A FACT (having worked in hospitals for most of my working life) that this is most certainly not true. If her tumour was life-threatening, she would have been put at the top of the list. Wonder how much she was paid?????
No wonder many folks are scared about reform if these are the kind of lies they're being fed.
Oh dear

-
Sadly with false information combined with people who only care about themselves, I don't know how they will be able to move forward. The insurance and medical lobbies are very powerful and have deep pockets.
-
I just linked to that commercial in the other thread.

Has anyone let Beesie know?
-
Barbe, how are you feeling? Did the procedure go smoothly? I haven't directly communicated with Beesie but maybe someone else has. I don't know.
-
Nah, the procudure kind of screwed up. Too much pain and then back to the ER overnight as the stent slipped and then came out. They had no OR to put it back in as there was a bunch of car crashes and bar fights. So back home after 12 hours with more Demerol and Flowmax to flush the pipes. Not a happy camper right now!
-
Barbe, so sorry that it did not go well. Is Mick out of there at least? Do you have to have the stent put back in? I do hope you will start to feel better very soon.
-
Most of Mick is gone, but there are shards still left to pass. I don`t know if they`ll put the stent back in or not. The doc said to come back if 3 Demerol don`t cut the pain and they`d admit me. But what will they do there? Do I wait 12 more hours in the ER? He said he`d put a note in my file so I wouldn`t have to wait, but I don't know. Will I just come off as a whining bitch?
-
Barbe,
Whining bitch or not, pain is nothing to balk about. I've heard that passing kidney stones, or parts of them are the most painful thing one can experience. I also know that 3 demeral is alot of narcotics to be putting into your system at one time. Then there is the issue of the scar tissue. The last thing you want or need is another complication down the road that would cause another surgery that could cause more complications and so on.....
I say go to the hospital and make your voice heard!!
-
Main thing is for you to get well and to feel well. Who cares what they think?
-
I just had an idea - anyone know how to do a video tape for u-tube? We could do one at our lunch and post it on u-tube as a sort of rebuttal to Shona, etc. Who knows, it might have an effect. I don't have a digital tape recorder.
-
I think you can upload Mpeg's from Picassa onto You-Tube....never done it, but I could try.

-

-
Hi girls; Sorry I'm not going to be able to make the get together. I'm doing O.K. but my Mom fell and broke her hip so I'm Mommy sitting. I want to hear all of the details of your fun!!!! I'll make the next one.
-
Oh Gibby, that's too bad. Your poor mom!
The restaurant is on the south side of Vaughan Mills. There is a LaZBoy, Leons, Bassett Furniture, Brick mattress store and the restaurant is right beside Kroehler. You do NOT have to navigate the Vaughan Mills parking lot! There is tons of parking behind the restaurant, not in the front.
Can't wait to meet y'all!!
-
Gibby, so sorry about your mom. I'm sure she appreciates your help at this time. We will miss you. Helen
-
Please count me in. I would like to join too. See you all.
-
Getting excited!!!!!

-
Oh, how I wish I could join you ("commie" American that I am)! Have a wonderful time -- you are such a great group! Hope you can forgive me for eavesdropping!
-
Ann, I wish you could come too. Do so if you can! You know how we Canadians love socialists! LOL
-
Hi ladies, sorry to report that I won't be able to make it tomorrow. I started rads on Thursday and sometime between then and last night I've picked up a bug. I feel like crap and the last thing I want to do is pass it on to any of you. So it's chicken soup, green tea and lots of tlc from my hubby. I really hate to miss out but i don't have the strength to do it.
I'll be with you in spirit. Take pics.
Cheers,Sherry

Hello to all of you. I am very sorry to say I will not be able to make it to-day. Unfortunately my husband was called in to-day and I do not have a ride. I hope you all have a most wonderful time. Enjoy each others company and if God wills we will meet again some day. I am somewhat sad but also am very happy for you all. LIFE IS GOOD.
Love and Friendship
