Tina and Kathi - let's do it! Unfortunately, my only day off is Tuesday. I'll be off 9/11 but that's the only Friday forever!

I don't know when the sidewalk sales are - usually later this month - and that's the really fun time. You guys should go and then stop by my office in Northampton and show me what you bought!

except I can't seem to figure out how to do that! I just get a green box and can't put a name in it.

Oh I cannot believe my penny pinchin' eyes.  I got a silver dressy blouse, dark teal dress pants, a pink t-shirt (with pink ribbon from the Share the Care Collection) and a plain what t-shirt for a combined price of $8.68 cdn.

Yes I got all that for less than $10.  I was so amazed when it came time to pay the bill.  I can never figure out 80% of $14.95.  The store was closing so there were all these deals.

Dream!!!!!   You get the Savvy Shopper Prize for sure!!

Jorf, I'll send you a PM!

Popped into a lovely vintage & recycled clothing store here in town yesterday & couldn't resist getting a few threads:  silki coral skirt, a hot pink linen sleeveless shift with this great beaded design of leaves on it, a real Victorian blouse (that was the big-ticket item, but I couldn't resist -- it's gorgeous!) with a skirt to match in white cotton with hand-crocheted lace trim & a Malaysian ladies two-piece silk dress.  Pix later.  Honestly, I'm dangerous.

Kathi...I thought of you Saturday night when I wore a lovely, wide-brimmed straw hat with a pretty, flowing ribbon to dinner at a local tavern. What wasn't like you though was what else I wore! Instead of a beautiful vintage sundress which would have been most appropraite and oh-so-sassy, I wore white jeans shorts and a little purple, empire waist tank top. The hat is what drew the looks, though, and I did feel quite elegant! Cool

Hey, Marin, sounds like a kick-butt, sassy outfit!!  You can wear a hat with anything, girlfriend!  I wear my big, wonderful, striped, floppy brimmed hat with my 'pink ribbon' sweats when I go for a long walk!!

Okay, if you can wear such a hat with sweats, I'm okay with my outfit too! And speaking of hats, Paris Hilton was sporting a very cool one, ostensibly for the Kentucky Derby. Check it out:

Paris Hilton tries on the perfect Kentucky Derby hat

So, no matter what you think of Paris, ya gotta love the hat, huh?!

If only someone would invent something to prevent "hat head," I'd wear hats all the time!

Oooh, I do love that hat.  She does always end up looking like a plastic Barbie doll, and I would not have worn a blue dress with that hat, but the hat is awesome.

Has anyone seen the video on cnn.com about Obama and his mom jeans?  Kind of cute.  For the first time I saw part of the SNL skit about mom jeans.  Really, I think they look fine.  So does Obama.  Keep the jeans, dad.  So, report me to the jeans police. LOL

HAHHAHAHA Kathi, I had the same thought! That hat has nothing at all to do with that blue dress! In fact, it offends my artistic eye! Yell

I need a new pair of walking shoes.  Trudge, trudge, trudge.  Is there anything out there these days that does not look so dorky as the ones from the old days or are they all pretty much alike?

Tina, I love my New Balance 608 cross trainers. I don't know if you would consider them dorky looking but they do have good cushioning, support and shock absorption. I have wore out at least 2 pairs of them and I found my last pair on sale for almost half price. And the last pair I got were actually a wide width (I normally wear a med width) but they don't feel too wide, just more room in the toes when I am walking.

Thanks, Sheila.  I know that New Balance runs small and Bean advises ordering a half-size up on them.  Did you?

I noticed amazon has them on closeout at $39.99.

Edited to add:  Raye, Raye, did you ever get those shoes to go with jeans?  I just saw these while looking for walking shoes.  I think they are tres cute if you are looking for sporty flats.

I usually wear between a 6.5 and 7 in most shoes (one foot slighly smaller than other) and the type of shoe determines what size to get, lace-up's 7's and dress 6.5. The 608's that I have are 7's. Last pair was med with new pair wide width (no med width in stock). I think I paid about that for my newest pair.

Tina, (you sound like one of my co-workers who calls me Raye Raye) - very cute shoes. I love the sole. I do have a white pair of sketchers like that already though, but the sole is not as high. Actually, I ended up finding in the back of my closet some Reebock (my spelling is horrible today, ladies) sneakers in white, with sole that is bit high and have been wearing them. Love them.

I wear NB to run in and always get a size 7 and I wear a size 6 or 6.5 usually - so, yes they run small and for running, you don't want a tight shoe. Not good.

I love Sketchers too and find that they run large - about 1/2 size too big. Did you guys see those new Sketchers that are supposed to work your legs? They have a rounded bottom on them.

Alors, girls, merci beaucoup in advance for indulging me, but this is sort of in celebration of surviving my annual physical with my pcp today, because last year's started the whole chain of events that led to the Big Adventure.  And next Friday is my cancer-versary.   This one has more attitude than the last version.  Oh, and I made my nails red this time, EWB!!

    "Isn't this where it goes??"

OMG, Kathi, you are insane!  And oh-so-sasseeeeeee! I love the pic!

You have a big week coming up. The first cancerversary is truly special and so important in helping you to really move on. I remember thinking back over that past year and thinking how surreal it had been, but then realizing how dramatically different I had become as a result. So I hope that you have a celebration in mind!
