Radiation with tissue expander

oh good my ps never mentioned that to me so i feel better now we will compare our dr notes on Thursday have a good day
-
Hey! We made it to page six! I have a permanent rash now on my chest. I can't see any changes in the size or position of the TE, but the rad techies keep mentioning to each other it is more difficult to line me up to the tatoos and the green line. They seem too busy to explain. Any ideas on that one???
-
When did the rash start what day into tx? as far as lining you up the physicist said to me this would happen from swelling or any changes is the tx expander but if they dont call him to to redo the sim not to worry I seen him yesterday and asked that question? so maybe that is what it is day #9 today and starting to look red now
.
Well how is everyone doing?????????????????????????????????????? lets keep this one going and make page 20
-
Hey Carolyn-- I took ibuprophin last night and my foob feels so much better. I bet the techies won't have such a hard time lining me up.
-
good stuff you need to be your own Dr these days hope all goes well for you today at rads
-
YOu too. Thanks.
-
Ladies..
I have just updated my pictures on the picture forum for you.
I will add more pictures for you after my July 20th exchange.
Good or bad, I hope these pictures help ladies out who have TE and RADS....
Love
Laura
-
Laura- I just viewed your pictures and you look great. I am a few weeks from starting Rx and it's nice to see a successful healing journey. Thanks for sharing.
-
Hey, you are welcome... keep your chin up and pray for the very best outcome you can have. I will post exchange pictures too.. I pray I do ok with that. That, to me, is proof if I did ok with rads or not... ya know... Hang in there girls!
-
Laura thanks for the pics I did leave you a message on that board saying thanks and hope we all turn out as well as you did.
-
WHere is the picture forum? Cyber photos???? It's probably right in front of me......
-
You need to PM TimTam ( search her name) and PM her. She will allow you entrance to her site.
It is really a great learning tool site.

Hello Ladies well # 11 down and yesterday and today i have felt sick to my stomach but hoping it is just a bug not the rads anyone experience this with rads and how are you all doing?
-
Carolyn, I did get nauseated with rads. OF COURSE I was told rads does not cause this...WHATEVER!
It could be the rads.....Ask your radiation doc.. maybe he/she will be honest with you..
Laura
-
Carolyn--I get nauseated with rads. Not every time, but I did today. I also get a sore throat off and on. The rad doc and nurse say not possible to get nausea and sore throat from rads, but the techies disagree. They say the radiation is hitting me in my throat and will cause acid reflux which will cause nausea. I don't get why most rad docs say it won't happen. Do you?
-
How is it going, everyone????
-
I don't get that. I don't think acid reflux start in the throat..I think it starts much lower--it comes up into the throat. .Also, why are they in your throat in the first place? Are they just grazing it when they radiate something else? JUDY
-
Facecrafter--I think you are right about the grazing-that makes sense, the nurse at one time said there is a scattering of the radiation and it might cause inflammation in the throat and yup, I don't know why that would lead to acid reflux and then a stomach ache-inflammation that causes irritation all up and down enough to upset the stomach???
-
Hello all, hope you are all having a nice weekend. Yes i just don't understand why they deny everything with rads but then again if they said to me you could be sick and and all the other things as well as our lungs heart ribs etc maybe i really wouldn't have said yes to it...lol so as long as we know that it is caused by rads and we will get over this then that makes me feel better
-
From the looks of my skin, there is a definite line where the radiation is. If there were scattering, the line would be fuzzy or else there would be other areas that show signs. There are not. It probably depends on the machine used, but I feel as if the rays are very well directed...I think I would blame your stomach issues on something else...
By grazing, I meant that the rays are directly hitting that target, not just 'scattering' there. I hope you feel better Jess, and that this is all over for you very soon... JUDY

Hi Ladies okay day #13 down today and my te is loosing its shape now (help) is this okay? my skin is looking really good to me not red just brown and a little itchy but soft I am really scared about the shape my te is taking how are you all doing?
-
Carolyn.. what shape is it taking?
Can you post them on the pic page please.. I gotta see what is going on. I directed you to the " how to post pics" on the Rads page... go look
Girl... I hope it is nothing. My rads boobie is a little fuller at the top.. but the shape is the same...
Post those pics so we can get to the bottom of this....
-
what rads page?
-
Oh Carolyn, I might have you mixed up with another Carolyn.. I will PM YOU
-
Carolyn: How is your TE doing? Did you see your PS? I have my CT tomorrow. I will be finding out when I start rads as well.
-
How is everyone? I am feeling sorry for myself right now but I'm so worried about my recon on the rads side. I have 2 more days to go and I look and feel horrible. I'm so red its almost blue, small blisters and I have a very sore dark spot or skin break down under my arm. This cant be good. I was doing so well and at the end of the 4th week it all went down hill. I was told today that the week after I finish my skin will be at its worst, I cant imagine it getting any worse. I'm so mad at myself. I cried when I left today it hurt so bad. I held it together this long and I'm falling apart now.
-
Lynn, I am so sorry. Of course you are falling apart now.. you are in PAIN! That makes us all just feel worse about it all! If you have pain meds.. take them.. ok.
You skin will bounce back. I know a gal who burned to that purple you speak of. About a year after rads.. I saw her skin and it looked NORMAL. I could not tell she ever had rads.
I so wish there was another way. Someday, there will be and the people will read about the "horrible" radiation we go through and be in disbelief.. just like we are today about the old rads way...
Hang in there... (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Laura
-
Thanks Laura. Last night was bad for me. I got up this morning, put my game face on and I'm here at work, just waiting for my 3:00 appointment. This time tomorrow it will all be over. Yay! How many treatments did you have? Did you burn or peel? Are they right, was it worse for you the week after you finished?
-
Oh Lynn, I am so sorry...(((lynn)))) Only two days left and you'll be healing up fine...Hang in.
JUDY
-
Lynn... are you feeling better tonight?
I did not have the burns you speak of. As much as I WHINED and pitched fits doing rads.... I did not burn as bad as you. I have the internal pain of it all. My ribs felt broke from the 1st week... my scar tissue is getting worse and it hurts. I have the scar tissue in my armpit and chest and in my Da#n back. Shoulder too actually. So you see, I cannot compare with you. We each suffer differently
We all have a few huge goals that are the same...
1. We are cancer free for LIFE
2. The pains of it all leave us soon..
3. Radiation did not cause secondary cancers or any more trouble
4. Finally.. rads does not hurt our TE and total reconstruction!
If you pray... Pray hard about it all.. ( I know this is not the prayer forum , so I don't wanna push my beliefs)....
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I will admit.. I am almost three months past rads and I am just starting to feel like me,
I did 5 months of chemo... Surgery.... rads... and still doing Herceptin until Nov. I think.
Some say.. " you will never be the old you"... but.. I have to say... With one exception... I am almost the old me.
Ladies... you Will get through... HUG yourselves.. Take your own hand, and kiss it. Love yourself so much.... you DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
