Radiation with tissue expander
Comments

I had radiation because of the narrow margins. I also don't have a schedule to see the PS until after rads or unless there are problems, I guess. I am only at day 8 of tx, so it is probably too soon to tell.
-
Jess te rad buddie.... I was also told not to massage it to much but my massge therepist told me it would be good idea and would help.
Laura- congratulations on your early exchange yippee........keep us posted
Welcome Judy- glad to hear you are doing well keep it up
These creams you all are talking about I cant seem to locate in Canada any suggestions????????
Susan- Sorry you are having some complications This is the first I have heard of a cord not sure what it is? I hope all turns around for you real soon keep us posted.
Josirus we seem to have the same situation narrow margins with dcis i am to see my ps in 3 months from the start date
Well I had to have my sim redone on Thursday that just past so my new start date is June 11/09
-
Carolyn, I got MIADERM online. You could try that- it came in a day or two..although to Canada I'm not sure..Things seem to get lost in the black hole we call the post office....JUDY
-
Carolyn a cord is (from what I understand) when your lymph vessels kinda kink up and knot up. They are suppossed to be smooth and flat. I can feel it in my arm and it feels like a tight rope with knots going down the length of it. It is very painful. You can get them from having lymph nodes removed and then radiation on top makes it worse. They can be taken care of with PT. Mine is just being stubborn.
-
Judy thanks i will look on line for it.
Susan oh that sounds painful hope it gets better soon.
-
Judy-I think I am going to try the miaderm.
Susan-That sounds very painful.
Hey te buddy, how are you? I have had 9 zaps. Four more till the weekend!
-
It's really nice stuff. I am up to number 10 as of this morning. Double digits!!! YAY.
-
Judy-I am at 10 today as well. I am experiencing itchiness under my skin. It is very annoying!!!! Three more days and then a weekend!
-
The itchiness is eliminated with triamcinalone ointment, available by RX from your onc doc. Don't let it getcha!
-
Hey All,
Well you guys are doing great (keep it up) we really have not heard how the others are doing how are you all doing???????????
-
Zap 11 and I feel very swollen. I will take aspirin.
-
Jess when you say swollen what do you mean inside swollen? well today is finally the day that I start should of been last week but they had to do my sim over again so here i go day 1
-
Carolyn-Yes, inside swollen. I think it is also tnederness up in my arm pit, probably the rubbing of the skin. Feels much better today.
I will be thinking of you today Carolyn. ((((((((((((((Carolyn))))))))))))))))
-
Hi ladies,
Day #12. I am pink and also feeling tight and swollen. It is still very tolerable but I hope it doesnt get much worse. Rad/Onc said it looks very normal at this point in treatment, she said under the breast and underarm will get the worst of it!
-
Hi Ladies,
well day 1 down and I meet with the physicist and my heart and lung are both in line of the rad anyone else find this out? I was told this before that maybe my heart but they try to avoid it anyway having a bad day today............... hope you all are doing well today thanks Jess.... sucks to be us eh
-
Carolyn sorry you are having a bad day. Hang in there!
Hope all you ladies are doing well with your radiation. It will be over soon! How are all the expanders holding up?
-
Ya I will thanks
-
Hi. I am at day 13 and so far so good, but I was warned that days 20 on up get tough.
Carolyn- I am sorry about your news. I was told I would be cleared of any of line of fire, but there is a red line streak up through my throat and I have a sore throat for a bit after I am finished. Rad onc said it wasn't possible to have a sore throat, but the rad nurse said there could be some radiation scatter. Scatter! WTF??????
Susiered--I hope the exapnder makes it. Thanks for asking.
-
Hey Te buddie,

-
I feel tightness off and on. Like today I feel pretty good, but then no rads. There is redness on my chest, none on the foob though I have taken a bit of aspirin and smeared lots of aloe and aquaphor on my incisions and my armpit. doc said I would get more red ....I felt tight the first day, then itchy.
-
Hey Jess Yes i feel like i had a fill really tight and also have been putting on lots of aloe and next week will be a full week for me so quite nervous but got to do it...
-
Hi Carolyn--Love your avatar. I am off to tx #14. I am happy for the two day break. It really helped. btw, is miaderm a prescription?
Yes, we can do this and before we know it, we will be done.
-

Carolyn2008-
I too have heart / lung issue with Rads.. although they said it was a small/tiny section of each..( their ant hill might be a mountain to me).. nothing to do but live with it.... I had an EKG about a week into rads and it turned out abnormal.. more testing to be done.. but he said it could be anything. after doing some checking I found it could be from heart attack (which i highly doubt).. stress, dehydration, electrolite inbalance etc..coincidence? I dont know.
Off to 17 /35 today..TE getting a little tight.. not filled up all the way.. I was to swollen at the time of placement (didnt have a mastectomy) So dont know if they will ever be able to stretch my skin afterwards.. if not, I will be lopsided!
-
Hi pringles... I was thinking maybe anxiety for me but not sure. what issues are you having with your heart? you didn't have a mx but have a te in? well my te is tight as well but we can only hope to hang in there through this and we will. I have heard lots of women getting stretched after rads so lets hope we are one of them and we can be stretched after our tx is done keep putting lotions aloe on.
-
I had an abnormal ekg right before surgery. Everyone ignored it, except me. I only noticed because I had to hand deliver the copy from one hospital to the next. They never even checked it out again and sort of shrugged when I asked them and said they would test me again. That was December ,2008 and they haven't done it yet. I remember feeling all the more stressed.
The rad techies said to take aspirin when the te feels tight and then lots and lots of aloe. Of course I am only at 14 of 28 full blasts and 5 boosts- so I am not out of the woods yet. Doc said he will watch very closely when I get close to 20.
You are right Carolyn - we will hope and lather on the aloe!!!!!!!!!!!!!
