Just got back from picking up a food order. About $70 worth of food for only $30. You sign up once a month for it. Good food for a little price. It is "Angels Ministry". Let me expalin the 4 marriages so ya'll don't think I am that terrible. My first marriage was to an older man. He is the father of my son. My son has a half sister four years younger than me. Second beat me and my son. And the third was rebound material!! I don't like to be told what to do and how to do it. I don't follow suggestions to well. I am outgoing and love people. My job consist of talking to everyone and types. Harmless stuff and I love it. My last husband enjoys fishing - period. He would go to an island and fish for weeks and then come home for a week and then go back from Arpil till November while I worked and expected me to take my days off and go over and visit on the island. I couldn't listen to country or watch basketball. By tooten I will now!! We grew very apart. He would never even walk with me when I walked the dog or go out bicycling with me. I even bought him a bike. So you can see why I'm jealous but happy for you all to have love ones to help you. Pity party over!!
Great idea about putting music on when in the house. Which I will be in with this heat. Beats that no nonsense stuff I've had on the TV. I use to put MC Hammer on to clean house when my son was younger. By the way - his charter released two white marlins the other day and caught a 39 pound dolphin (mahi-mahi).
Stay cool Spring - this heat can't last too long for NC. Joy

Joy, no one thought you were terrible for the 4 marriages. Sometimes these things don't work out and since life is too short to be in a relationship that is not healthy and too long to stay in a relationship that is not healthy, you have done the right thing by putting yourself first. Side note; my Aunt was in two abusive marriages, first physical second mental. She was 70 when she met Bernie on the Internet (yup the internet, you could image how frightened we were for her) Well, I am very happy to say, he was the love of her life and we were so happy that she finally found true love. They had about 7 yrs together, Bernie passed away spring 2008 and my wonderful aunt passed this April. Never say never to another relationship, do it on your terms and you never know, you just may find your "Bernie"
Okay my lunch break is over and so back to housework ahhhhhhh!

Joy, I agree with pk0199, doubt anyone thought much about it. One thing breast cancer teaches you is that no one can judge what another person is going or has gone through. You learn to come here because no one else really understands what you're going through. You learn to put on the happy face and just not talk about things because you just sound like a whiner and they are all into their own lives and issues and despite how caring they may be its never over for us and they can't buy into the non stop train we're on. So, we learn to hide the cancer part of us for the most part and realize that no one around us outside of a few close loved ones (if we're lucky) realizes what we've gone through and are going through. So, you learn to never assume you know someone else's woes. We know are just here to support you.

Okay so it is father's day so here is my take on men, since I think I know them pretty well. I have 5 brothers, one father, one stepfather, 2 sons, one husband and grew up in a neighborhood with no girls, hence I became a "tomboy". I do not care how great a guy is, they are all little boys at heart, and I don't think they ever get over putting themselves first. The truth is, they need us much more than we need them. One of the hardest things for me to come to terms with was that I always felt that I gave more to the men in my life than they gave to me. I had to finally accept that I could not expect them to act like a women and be nurturing, because they just don't have it in them. So sobx, enjoy your freedom! Nothing turns a man on more than a women they cannot have!
Deanna, I thought it was 8 city blocks to a mile? Maybe they just have bigger blocks in Chicago? I had a wonderful day in the city today. Went down on the train and met my SIL and nieces at the theater and we saw Mary Poppins. It was so much fun! What a great show! Just pure fun! Then my husband drove into the city and we went to my son's apartment. He actually cooked (but I had to stop and buy girl food). On the roof of his condo building they have a really nice area for cooking out with an incredible view of the city. Now before you get too excited, no sooner had I finished then my son told us it was time for us to go because he had a hot date at some street festival. I guess at that age you can only take your parents in small doses. LOL!
Even though I walked around the city, it was not enough. Hopefully, I can out the beamer tomorrow.
-
No, I grew up in NYC and we were always told that 20 blks = 1 mile. Vivre, maybe you are thinking of crosstown blocks because they certainly are longer than uptown blocks.
Only exercise I got today was walking a little through the mall and Target. Maybe tomorrow.
-
Patoo, you really got my curiosity going so I google it. LOL I guess Chicago is different than NYC and I was right, 8 blocks= 1 mile:
http://www.gapersblock.com/airbags/archives/measuring_a_chicago_mile/
They call a portion of Michigan Avenue the Magnificent mile and it is only about 8 blocks long. I guess Chicago blocks are just a lot bigger than NYC.
-
Hmmmmmmm, sounds like that's one way to get my exercise - drive in to NY and walk it! Might just try that one day. Thanks Vivre.
-
Thanks guys. I love you all. Joy

Beautiful day yesterday, great walk, and I'm so excited came back and ran on the treadmill for a few minutes. My myopathy has been so bad that is a huge milestone for me. Neuropathy puts the balance off enough I don't dare run outside, buy I'm so excited things are getting better
Have a great day everyone

Hi All!!
Relaxed this wkend and no exercise! Last week was an all time low, just 7.7 miles after 3 weeks of busting the 20 mile mark!. But back on the trails today! It was cool early this am and we did our 4.4 mile loop.
Took the Dad's to Indian lunch and everybody was stuffed! We all needed a nap! LOL.
Making it a great day! Should hear back about the ultrasound test today or tomorrow. Will report back!
Spring.

Oh Kari,
I made your Zuccini bread recipe, with Agave, and a few changes! Wanted to report back!
I made a double batch. Used Agave nectrar instead of white sugar. Used the same apple sauce. Rather than canola oil, I melted organic butter. (Next time I will not melt the butter, just bring to room temp)
rest was the same, except I used Spelted Flour (really nice).
OK so the batter looked too runny to me, so for the double recipe, I added about another cup of the flour. I had enough for 3 loaves!!! I baked and checked at 45 min, too loose. So I let them go and checked at 60 min, perfect!!
They are wonderful! Added a bit of allspice, ginger and cloves in addition to the cinnomon!
Thank you! Yummo! I've already given one loaf to my inlaws! And will give another to a friend on Weds!
-
Spring-You need to write the recipe out with all the changes! LOL Hope your test results come out okay.
I took beamer for a cruise yesterday through the forest preserves and it started to rain. I did not even head for a canopy of trees because it felt so great. A shower is always nice on a warm day. At least there was no lightning. It always scares me because being out in the open like that is so dangerous. We have had a lot of golfers hit by lightning around here. The cottonwood snowing is finally slowing down but the seeds are sprouting everywhere now. So I will have to get out the powerwasher and clean out all the cracks with sprouts coming up in my pavers. I hate this tree! Wish I had the guts to cut them down, but I just am so torn because they are such a great bird habitat. I just have to endure them for a month I guess. Why do people not plant oak trees instead? The tree is right outside my upstairs porch and the birds are eyelevel. I feel like I am in a tree house when I am on the porch, and I spent my childhood hangin out in a tree house in the woods, so I love it. I guess, I will just need to put up with the tree, unless there is a way to make them sterile. Oh, and now the siberian elms are seeding. I just can't win!

Vivre and all,
Here is Kari's initial Zuccini bread recipe! Then you can add those notes above from me, LOL.... I used Agave and organic butter and Spelt Flour and added more spice. Otherwise it is the same, LOL!!! (I am like this with recipes, I think it is now my form of ART!!!)
From Kari: Oh so I made this recipe, but have to say I did use the 3 eggs and the 1 cup sugar (want to try some agave nectar, but didn't have any)
1 Cup Sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup applesauce
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
2 cups shredded zucchini
Mix sugar, oil, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla. Add rest of ingredients ending with zucchini. Fill 1 loaf pan 3/4 of the way full. If there is extra, I make a couple of muffins. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.I GOT MY TEST RESULTS!! I AM FINE!!!! I called and left a message and thank goodness they took pitty on me, tracked down the results, and called me back! It showed nothing!! Woot! Just wanted you all to know...Thank you for your support, as always, you lovely cuties!

Good morning, ladies ~ Just heading out for my morning walk before it gets too hot. I got in a total of 21.88 miles last week, which was mostly in the first 5 days, and just a short one last night, as it was getting dark.
vivre ~ Your woes with that cottonwood tree bring back memories of my childhood. We had one of those in our front yard in New York, and you sound just like my Mom who also hated all that white stuff getting all over the place. I wonder why people ever plant them? And I can't imagine growing up with 5 brothers! Were you the only girl?
I hope everyone's week is off to a great start. We're looking at 110 degree days here ~ Deanna

Spring - WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so relieve for you girl!! and thanks for the recipe update! Will have to try that out. I have one LARGE zucchini that was hiding that I need to do something with.
Didn't do much structured exercise this wknd. DD tested positive for influenza A and the Dr. said most likely H1N1 (swine flu) but her culture had to be sent to the county for testing. That Dr. said that I needed to call my hospital and get on Tamiflu right away. So after getting through the advice nurse, nurse and finally Dr. he concurred and I went to the pharmacy and started taking it. I had a bout of something Friday and Friday night was doubled over in the bathroom (not fun), but feel fine otherwise, but am taking the Tamiflu. Then we cleared my DD storage and loaded up our Tahoe with my younger DD's stuff. DH drove that down to her yesterday (she is moving into an apt. with a girlfriend this Friday). Yesterday, swept, mopped...met DD and her fiance for lunch and shopping, then off to her house and we ended up doing some yard work in the hot sun. I was exhausted!!!!!! Even after all that I felt so guilty about not getting out for a bike ride or walk! Geez, do any of you do that?? Sometimes I think I am too hard on myself, that I need to do it all!!
Vivre, your upstairs porch sounds really neat!!
Joy, thanks for sharing. You sound like you've endured a lot, but you sound like such a STRONG woman!! Funny you mentioned MC Hammer. I just noticed that he has a reality show on TV right now called Hammertime. He doesn't live that far away, he's from the Bay Area too, lives in Tracy now.
Penny, I love the Bernie story!
Deanna, Yikes that's HOT!!!!!!!!
Make it a GREAT day!
-
Kari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMGosh! You do not need to be getting that H1N1!!! Holy moly! Will you be tested??
-
Spring, so happy for you.
Kari, hope you all do ok.
-
I'm ok, apparently they only test you if you've been exposed and are the showing the signs they are looking for (like cough, sore throat, fatigue, fever, etc.) and I didn't have those things, just the tummy thing, so they wanted me on the meds even though they thought it was too late. Isn't that weird? They told my DD to stay 3 ft away from people and to wear a mask, but they tested her after she'd been running around infecting everyone. Doesn't seem like they are too on top of things if you ask me. But I'm fine, feisty as ever! LOL! MY DH was freaking out!! doesn't 'swine' flu just sound disgusting?
-
Kari and Spring, glad to hear both of you are going to be okay. Spring, didn't I say you would be okay, we are not going to let anything bad happen to any of us anymore!!! Kari, do take care that you don't catch anything or I will have to come down and kick some butt! Speaking of kicking butt, where is Patoo, darn that girl, gonna have to kick her butt again for not checking in.
Got in some exercise today, did the elliptical, may take puppy for a walk depends on how cold it is outside, it has been very windy and raining, but at least it isn't snow!
Vivre, Deanna, Joy and anyone else I forgot, hope all is well with you too. Vivre, why don't you drive out here and pick me up for a cruise, we don't have cottonwoods out here, lots of poplar though.

Hi there all you cuties!
Penny, you made me laugh!! you always do!! Are you still cold up there today?? I see the whole US looks Hot Hot Hot today! I bet where you live is beautiful.
Joy, I wanted to ask, what is your job exactly? I was kinda confused when you were saying you talk to all kinds and also mentioned massaging feet? Am I close?? Just thinking about you girl!
DD is ok! She has been cleared to return to work tonight. And Carissa is out of the hospital and walking and talking, her jaw wiring will be replaced by rubberbands and the baby is doing fine! SUCH GOOD NEWS!!!! Yeah!
Went to DD's after work, had dinner, watched Night at the Museum (cute) and walked the dogs. It was fun, but hot out.
Since it will be hotter today, will hit the air conditioned mall at lunch time for a few laps, I put my old tennies in the car, that way I have NO excuses! LOL!
Ok all you strong, beautiful women! Get out there and make it a great one!

Hi girlies!
Walked as planned at lunch at the mall. Our mall has and is still undergoing a huge renovation (its not even 9 yrs old) and its really big and nice inside. I enjoyed walking to some cool music playing and nobody even got in my way! LOL...would have taken out those old ladies if they got in my way...LOL jk
DD called while walking, she tested positive for H1N1, the Dr. said she had a mild case and they almost didn't test her because of her "non-severe" symptoms. She caught it from a 6 yr old but there is a older guy in the cardiac ICU that has it bad and another coworker caught it from him and is having a tough go of it. We can consider ourselves lucky!!!!
-
Hey, watch out who you're calling old!!!!!
Glad your DD is not severe but make sure she watches out for it anyway - you never know when we don't take something seriously.
Think I'll go out for a walk right now. Later all!
-
heehee

-
Hi Spring, I'm in North Brunswick about 25 minutes away from East Windsor.
I have a sister in Burlington NC; not too far from you!
