Windingway, have missed talking to you, hope things are looking up. Do you guys have temp agencies your husband could try? It is hard to find jobs right now. We applied for the census jobs but never heard a word. Keep in touch. Great big hugs and prayers coming your way.
-
Hello everyone, things here are a little crazy, still on goat watch, one girl is due any time. Still no luck for huby in the job maket. I am busy here, getting him to do projects that were on hold, now that he is home. Found out we have puppies due around 4/1 cant wait. Hope everyone is well and that spring has sprung in your area. Thanks for all your hugs and prayers, same goes back to you.
-
Hi windingwayfarm, spring keeps peaking at us and then old man winter get jealous and pokes his head back out. At least hubby is getting the farm up to stuff with a honey do list. It is so hard in the job department right now but we have to trust that God will provide. Have you got your garden planted? Hope you are feeling well and will pray for a job to come your hubby's way. Blessing, hugs, and love. sherry

Hi Spar2, just wanted you to know hubby finally got a job. We have 2 new baby goats, 6 puppies who are getting old enough to leave.I am getting ready to plant the garden and have been enjoying the beautiful weather. Hope all is well with you and everyone else on the board. Thank you for listening and enjoy the summer.
-
You have been on my mind so much, so glad to hear from you. So thankful your hubby found a job. Wow, 2 new baby goats and 6 puppies. That is enough to keep you smiling all day long. We have our garden planted and hoping for extra's for the church feed the hungry program this year.. All is good here, leaving June 1 for a 2 week vacation. God bless and hugs, sherry
-
I am here for you. Wish for the peace of a farm sometimes. Was a country girl to start.
-
Good afternoon ladies, good to hear from you again. Just finished planting my corn, peas, pumpkins, zuccini, tomatoes and cukes, waiting for the rain to start. I have never had a garden this big, so I am curious to see if I have any luck with a good harvest. Last year I planted tomatoes and had to go out early to beat Pete my Old English sheepdog, he would take off the ripe ones and eat them, then go into the barn and find the fresh eggs.
Spar have a great vacation and dreamwriter good to know you are there, if you need someone to talk to I am always ready to listen too.
Peace and Love
ps. you can tell I am a child of the 60's

I saw the animal theme and had to get my two cents in. I love all animals too. I worked for a while for PETA at their animal sanctuary. We had 2 dogs, 6 cats, three chincillas, 5 sheep, 2 pigs, a goat and lots of chickens and roosters and rabbits. It was fun but back breaking work. As you know, when you have animals there is no such thing as sleeping late, sick or vacation days or weekends!
My Dad was in the Army so we were constantly moving. I dream of farm life away from the maddening crowd.
I love talking to my animals. I think they are far more intelligent than most people, they don't tell you to "get over it," and they always seem to enjoy your company - no matter what mood you are in.
OES rock. My friend had one, Gabriel, when they got a rabbit who fell in love with Gabe. I don't think it was reciprocal - although Gabe would never hurt the rabbit, a male rabbit's show of affection is to urinate on its love object.
Anyway, I am here too ready to listen.

Hi 423, hope you dont mind me calling you by that. After I got sick we decided to move to a farm, since I have always wanted one. My husband gave me 2 horses for my first Christmas here, we are now up to 5 horses, 20 goats, 9 Sheepdogs,1 cat and assortment of chickens. I agree with you about animals, they are better than some people I have met, never false, you always know how they really feel about you. I always say, if my dogs do not like you, than I will be very leary of that person and I know that if you love animals, you must be a good person. Anytime you want to talk about animals, you know where to come to. If I can figure out how to post pixs, you could see some of my farm friends.
-
Hey Windingway. My name is actually Kathleen, if you prefer that or you can call me 423! I am up early, for no apparent reason so I thought I would check the boards. I would love to see pics of your farm and animals. Tomorrow I am going to see someone about this depression. It is already better between my increased dosage of antidepressent and the ladies on this site.
The couple who owned Gabriel, the OES, are no longer a couple. He was a jerk; however, his one saving grace was that he was so good to the dog. My friend said if he was half as good to her as he was to the dog they would still be together. If you truly love animals you are okay in my book. See ya.
-
windingwayfarm do you have a digital camera that you download your pictures to your computer? I bet those goats help keep the mowing down don't they. I wish I could come spend a day at your farm, petting your animals and relaxing. It just sounds so peaceful.
-
Windingway - Your farm sounds like heaven on earth to me. I'm a city girl, but have always dreamed of living on a farm. I adore horses! My daughter used to take riding lessons and I used to love going with her to the barn - I spent her whole lesson visiting all of the horses. But she's a teenager now and too busy to ride, so it's been a while since I've been to visit my horsey friends.
-
Hi ladies, I wish you all could come and spend a day here and really enjoy the farm. I love to sit and watch the baby goats play, they jump from boulder to boulder and then jump up and down like Pepe' Lepew from the cartoon, they look like they have springs on. Spending time with the animals is a safe cure for depression, the animals come up to you and they really can sense, if something is wrong, in their own way they try to comfort you. I will try to get some pixs to you, I can send them by e mail, but I dont know how to from photo bucket. I dont ride as much as I would like to, my legs are very stiff from the arimidex and old age, I have been off the meds for sometime, but after effects still linger. I have a difficult time getting on my horse, I need steps and my husband around to help me up, what a drag, I finally got horses and seem too old to enjoy them. I wish you all could just go for a walk in our woods, we have about 18 acres of woods and trails, so peaceful.
-
The majesty of horses - those sleek bodies with muscles rippling - that's enough for me to enjoy them. Of course, the only time I was ever on a horse it knew I wasn't experienced and just stood there. So we went outside the riding rink and he stood there and grazed! The instructor told me to nudge his side with my foot - that horse turned around - looked at me - and if he could talk he would have said "Do that again and lose your leg." Then to add insult to injury, a bunch of 6 year olds came in after watching us and put those horses through their paces!

I am a close friend of Kathleen, 423. She wanted me to write and let everyone know that she is going to be off-line for a while since she fell and shattered her left shoulder. She was hospitalized last Friday and had her surgery for a total shoulder replacement on Wednesday. She is doing better, but it is just a disappointment to go through another big life change so soon. Please just keep her in your prayers.
Cary
-
Kathleen, I will keep you in my prayers and wishing you a speedy recovery. Cary please pass my thoughts to Kathleen, thanks for letting us know.
Linda
-
i am at home now linda and in pain - it is difficult to type with one hand. i am seeing my dr today as the last tests done at the hospital the day i was discharged show i am more anemic than originally - God, please don't let this be another cancer causing internal bleeding.
-
Gentle hugs Kathleen. Could you ask the Dr. for something to help you manage the pain easier? I hope the anemia is a quick fix.
-
The dr did not call to tell me the results today - is that a case of no news is good news? However, while I was there he became concerned over the swelling in the leg on the same. I told everyone who was in hearing range while still in the hospital that it was swollen. Had to go to get ultra sound to make sre Iwasnt brewing blood clots - I'm not.
-
Phew for no blood clot Kathleen. I hope the swelling is just injury that will go down on it's own. Fingers crossed.
As for the no news is good news? Hard to answer that. I always want to be called either way. Seeing it was a Friday may have had something to do with it. I think they like to make us wait and worry over the weekends.
How is your shoulder pain? Did you ask the Dr. for something to take the edge off of that? You've got to be able to get your sleep.
Gentle hugs.
-
Hi Kathleen, Glad you did not have a clot. Hope the shoulder pain is getting more tollerable, keep your chin up and know I am saying a healing prayer for you. The weather here is so great, sun shine and mid 70's hope you are having some great weather, the sun shine can sure lift the spirit.
-
Winding, my aplologies..................I seem to have attempted to hyjack your thread.
I really thought I was somewhere else.
I just read up here and yes please, I would adore coming and sitting and watching the animals. I hope you are managing ok.
Gentle hugs.
-
Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you know I may be away from the site for a while. I have a knee problem and ended up crawling on all 4's all weekend. Went to the Ortho dr yesterday, gave me a pain shot and had my leg go from 90deg. angle to straight, now I go Thursday for MRI, may need surgery, computer is upstairs, so I will keep you posted, keep me in your thoughts, I really hate the thought of surgery.
-
Oh windingway, that is awful. Hope the MRI shows something that can be fixed easily. Will be praying for you.
I wish I could come spend the day with you and get to meet all your sweet animals. I love sitting out on the deck, drinking my coffee and watching the kittens play, they are so cute.
-
Hi Spar2,
Just wanted to let you know I am having surgery on Aug 5th, he said an in and out about 1 hr procedure, I will only be laid up for about 3 days. I wish you could come and have coffee with me and watch the horses, just peacefully graze. I see you have kittens, I just go a new kitten for the barn, her name is Fritzi, she is a pewter and white, what a doll, she is so loving and playful. I will keep you posted, thanks for the prayers, you take care too.
Linda -
Hi Linda I jsut found your post...Wishing you a speedy recovery from surgery next week.....Do you have anyone to help you with your animals while you are laid up?.......I just love farm animals......My sister in Ky used to raise horses but her husband became disabled and they had to sell them....Broke my heart that I couldn't bring one home to Ga with me.....I could have boarded him across the street bu my hubby said no........OH well.......I have enough pets......3 cats, a rat, a hamster, a cockatiel and a parakeet.......What a menagerie!......One of my kitties is sleeping next to me on the arm of my chair and positively burning me up!.......I try to dissuade her from doing that but she is a cuddle bug.....Not her fault I am in perpetual tropical heat from menopause!....Good luck next week and please let us know how you are doing.........
-
thanks for the well wishes Hollyann, my youngest son is back home with us and helping me out, he is 30 and cannot find a good girl to date, let alone marry. He helps me with the animals and so does my husband, but my son has the gift with animals, they all like him and come to him. How many kitties do you have? We just got a little girl for the barn, her name is Fritzi, she is a little cuddle bug too, when she sees me come into the barn she runs up and jumps so I will pick her up. Our 2 yr old male cat, is now recovering, something tore him up,his neck and chest area were torn open and his leg was broke, but the vet said he has seen worse and they have recovered, so he is living the life and loving the pampering. My husband told me when we moved here I could have all the animals I wanted, little did he know, I have 5 horses, 20 fainting goats, 2 cats, 7 dogs (I breed OES) and many chickens. Well take care..... will keep you posted
-
Just wanted to let you know that the surgery went well,.I am slowly walking around the house with a cane. Doctor said all my cart. is gone and in the future will need a complete knee replacement. Hope everyone is hanging in there and doing well.
Linda
-
Linda thinking of you today and hoping you are doing better. Is the knee the main problem you are having now? Glad your son is helping you out with the animals.. That is so sad about your cat hope he is not in pain and doing better. Sending you hugs and well wishes.
