Neesie- I just tried on my shirt again. The shoulder/chest width on the xl is big, but as Winds said, the cut is longer and narrow. The tummy/hip area on mine is almost as narrow as last years large. But you're a little thing- you won't need an xl.

I'm going to wash mine now and see what I can do creativity wise ;)

I'm working on boppers and butterflies---

How many survivors on our team this year?

    How many "new" people?

    How many total walkers?

T shirt is in the dryer, I'll be thinking and pondering my craftiness during the hockey game LOL

I'm here - that's 12:30 Sunday at Panera in Livonia.

The one at 6 Mile, 1 mile in from 275 - right?

I've just been quiet because I've been doing the changing insurance thing, so that I can do an MRI - since boob got all hacked up during the infections, onc wants to do an MRI, since mammo was birads 3. Even though I KNOW that what I had is NOT going to come back, I'm still edgy.

Have a good first day of 3 day weekend, and please let me know if I'm going to the wrong place.

Oh great.............the shirts are LONG and NARROW.....................don't they realize that I am SHORT and WIDE!!!!!!!!!!!  Not to worry................It'll fit one way or another for 3 or 4 hours!  I may have to do Judys trick with the fringy bottom..............And Bonnie is going in Dazzles...................and Wendy is going in Butterflys..........................Hey Nancy, are you going plain like me????

Judy...........ain't so little anymore....My Hips started growing in November and haven't stopped yet. Can't imagine that it has anything to do with what I'm putting in my mouth!

Do you have any idea what time you're heading to Sterling Hts., yet, Nancy?  Hoping we can meet up afterwards................might have to take off around 3ish for a couple hours, but don't know for sure.  You have my home and cell #'s don't you?  If our times don't jive, I'll drive out to Pinckney and get it..........you've done enough!

Judy, I've got Pink Shoelaces from New Balance............I can bring them (or give them to Nancy if you're going Sunday)..........we can wear them in our shoes or tie up the sleeves on the shirts with them.

Oh, Oh, Oh....................meant to say Hi to our New Neighbor................but I'm on a different page and don't remember the name.  Is it Val?.................If it isn't, just pretend it is and let me welcome you to the somewhat nutty Michigan Crew!!   To know us is to love us!!

I'll check in later to see if you have any idea on time, Nancy....................or I could CALL you!

lots of butterflies- they say to print for coloring so I'd say they're ok, no infringements.

    Sue,

The Panara is the one on Haggerty, not the one on 6 Mile.  Just went back on the posts to confirm.  Nancy gave the address and phone number.  I didn't even know there was one there!  Rick thinks it is near the TGIF south of 8 mile.  Go in at the light at the road that goes in for Target on the east side.  Other side goes to Kohls and Meijers.  I had been thinking it was the 6 Mile one too.  Glad I noticed.  Either one is about equal distance from church which is where we will be coming from.  We're just planning to have lunch there instead of Wendy's.  See you then.

JudyR - 29 people on the roster and 11 survivors.  How many new people?  Shoot - I don't know?  Do you mean new survivors?  I'll send you the list through email.  I don't know people's names and to make it harder, we all use our sign-on names!  I'm so confused.

I don't think JanDun signed up yet if that is her name!  Hello Jan - c'mon and join us!  The Komen site has a search mechanism to see things like - all people signed up in Livonia.

Neesie - I'm meeting Irene at 11:00 on the East side.  We will sort things there and I can probably make it around Brighton about 1:30 ish.  Is that too late for you to get back?  You are forcing me to call you!  I think I still have your number but I didn't put it in my address book since I already checked under T, N and D!!!!  Oh, maybe it's under A for your old sign-on name?

You guys - Panera on Haggerty just South of 8 mile.  I picked that out of the air since I've been there before and not the one South of there.  I don't care where as long as everyone knows!!  So, as of right now unless we can make sure everyone knows - Panera on Haggerty at 12:30!   Who said something about herding cats?

We should start planning the meeting time right now for next week since I think it will take a week to get organized.  Is 6:00 a.m. at Meijer's on Middlebelt just South of 96 ok?  Again - I'm throwing that up in the air so we don't have anyone at the lost and found next week.  Does 6 give us enough time to gather when we get there and make the rounds?  I think we cut it short last year and that is why the Team Meet area is so crowded.

Neesie - I think you will have to call me at home soon.  I am charging my cell.  I'm still searching for your number.

    Map to Panera:

    http://maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=m&lat=42.43392&lon=-83.433469&zoom=15&q1=20140%2520haggerty%252C%2520livonia

Search who is signed up for Race:

     http://www.active.com/search_reg.cfm?event_id=1637708&sr_id=21587

One way to see who is on the Team is to go to the Team Home page and there is a small drop down list where you can go to the team member's pages...

    Thanks for the list Nancy!

I was just wondering how many new boppers we might need. I have a bunch made up so I'm sure I have enough for anyone who wants one. :) I also have a little something for the survivors and wanted to nake sure I have enough- turns out that I do :D

Would you like me to bring my glitter glue to Panera? You can take it home with you and bling up your shirt ??!!

Can't wait to see Bonnie's "bling and bedazzle" and Wendy's butterfly. The backs of the shirts are blank this year leaving plenty of room for creativity.

I know you buddies are going into over-time, getting ready for your walk.

Here's how I 'decorated' the back of my t-shirt last week:

I just used a permanent marker & went at it.

    Take lots of pictures, promise??

Nancy............you made me do it..................I CALLED you!  Of course you didn't answer the phone, but I called you!  Not sure if it was home or cell........but thinking it was your cell.  1:30ish will be fine, just let me know for sure and where!

Faith............I nominate you to come to MI this week and 'fix' the back of all of our shirts!!  Looks great!

No worries - we met up today even if it did involve a phone call.  It was nice seeing Denise, Irene and another friend Denise!

Judy - I was able to swap out two XL for two Large today at the pick-up.  They still had a lot of volunteers there and many t-shirts not packed up for us stragglers.  So, one of the packages will need an XLarge that I swapped and I think they miscounted on the other since I wasn't short another XL.  So, see ya tomorrow and I think you will be set.  I think we got everything straight but I'd like everyone to verify when they get their packages.

    Sunday - Panera on Haggerty - 12:30 p.m.

I took 696 today and it wasn't bad.  There was a lot of construction but no-one working.  The speed limit was 60.  It's doable if anyone takes it next weekend as long as the workers aren't out there.

You know...........my hips are in the way.  Is there any way I could contact Racelady Jan or Binsons and see if they have XL or should I just go with what I have and make it work?

Actually 2 XL survivors would be great.

Neesie-I contacted New Balance store today and they said they will swap out sizes if you need!!

They are closed sun and mon, but will have shirts the rest of the week. The stores are in Troy and Farmington.

You should just fringe the bottom of your shirt like I did last year, that way the top part will still fit you.

If you aren't anywhere the New Balance stores, I could see if they will just give me an xl pink one? I'm going to the farmington store Tues or Weds to pick up the packets for my stragglers that joined. (Nancy, sorry I hadn't thought of calling them sooner!)

I am a yooper from Hancock but currently live in lower Mi... in Commerce Twp.  I am new to this site and am looking for support in my area, or any part of Michigan really.  I had my biopsy in March, partial mastectomy April 13th, port a cath insertion a week ago Friday and a D&C Friday of this week.  That was the worst of all my surgeries.  Necessary tho as I have been anemic from my heavy periods. I meet with my oncologist again this week to begin chemo soon.

I found a link to this group through another, but it looks as though you guys are survivors. YAY!  That gives me hope...I am just starting treatment.  Any suggestions?

Be well. Kind of overwhelmed with all this cancer junk... Lori

Welcome runnerlori!  You came to the right place since we get together often and are here for support.  It's not all doom and gloom with us.  We have a good time together and 'we get it'.  Yes, we are all survivors and we can show you there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you want to join us at the Komen Race for the Cure, please do.  It's too late to get on the team roster (Wings of Hope) but you can still join and meet us. Let me know if you want details.

Judy - Glad you can swap out for your new people joining the group. Don't forget that I already swapped out XL for Large and they took them from the packets that didn't have things mailed. So, I'll need one XL for a L.  I'll explain today when I see you.  We were getting confused at how this would work.

Sue - I really hope you got my PM since I don't want you sitting at 6 Mile while we are at Haggerty!

Thanks for info Judy............how did you fringe last year?  Didn't the material 'run' when you cut into it?  (quit laughing.........you know I'm an airhead!)Embarassed

    You guys have fun today!

Welcome Runnerlori. My Brother lives in White Lake Twp (union lk and Elizabeth lk) and I'm up that way quite often. Yep, we are all survivors here, some longer than others, We are here for you, whatever you may need. (((hugs)))

Neesei- I'm on my way out the door to go to Panera, but I'll come back and walk you through it!

Nancy, yep, I have the XL to bring to Panera. See you soon.

Just read the thread for Waterlilly. Sue, you write beautifully. Thank you for posting for us.

I'll be creating ribbons for her during these hockey period breaks.

    Neesie- The shirt.

cut the hem off (or however much of the bottom you want off)

cut up as far as you want for the fringe. I think I went about two inches up

Leave an inch or so (depending on hoe narrow you want the fringes), and cut another slit. I just cut slits all the way around about two inches up and an inch wide. Will try to post a pic.

You could always just cut slits up each side. We were talking at Panera today that you could "lace" the slit open sides. There would be lots of ways to widen the low end of the shirt.

    Game back on...be back later

Welcome Runnerlori - if the D&C doesn't help your heavy periods, ask your gyn about having a uterine ablation.  I had one about 3 years ago, and it has reduced my periods (used to last 7 days, the first 3 so heavy I couldn't go anywhere because I'd bleed through!!!) to 3 days and it is a total non-event.  I've told all my girlfriends because it was so successful and I am thrilled with the results.  There is a chance I may have to have it done again in after 7-10 yrs, but hey - by then I should be in menopause.  My mom had to have a hysterc due to heavy bleeding & fibroid tumors, but I'm hoping to avoid that. anyway, just thought I'd post this info for you and anyone else who may have a similar problem.

Sorry you've got to go through all of this cancer crap, but you will find some rainbows in the clouds ... the ladies on this site are so helpful and we're lucky to have this resource available to us.  I go to Ann Arbor for my care and will be back down there in July for my exchange surgery.

Take care, and good luck with the Relay, ladies!! Next year I'd love to join in!!!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome... :)  It will be nice to have contact with survivors of this crud called cancer.  I know I will heal and I am staying positive but admit to being overwhelmed and scared at times.  This site is educating me and will help prepare me for what's upcoming.  I find out on Tuesday the specifics of my treatment and whether or not I qualify for the clinical trial study I have agreed to be a part of.

The oncologist reassures me it is specific to my type of cancer.

    On another note,

I will be attending a fly fishing retreat in July up in Wellston, Mi.. about 4 hours N W of the Metro Detroit area.  (It's near Manistee) anyway, I picked up the flyer at the Carach cancer treatment center and knew right away that I wanted to go. Anyone interested?

    Here is there website:  http://www.reelandheal.com/

Welcome Lori - I think you are on the right track with your fishing retreat. Staying busy will help with the overwhelming thoughts. Hope you can make it to one of our get togethers.

Nancy - 6:00 am on Saturday at Meijer's Middlebelt works for me.

JudyRock - Keeping my shirt simple and not doing to much bling. I did find an iron on butterfly from Micheal's I may try to adhere to back. I would like to write Wings of Hope on back of shirt but scared I will mess it up.

Jess -Thanks!  Race Day is such an emotional overwhelming meaningful day. To see all the pink survivor shirts really hits hard.

Bonnie- no such thing as messing up your shirt-  it will all look good. I haven't figured out what else to do with mine, but I may put butterflies on the back with our three angels names. I'll be doing the bottom fringe thing again this year.
