I don't think anyone had the energy to post pictures yet! LOL
I LOVED your pictures on your website.
Did you all go to Hockeytown? We had a gal that had to be home early so we didn't make it. My group from work seemed to have a good time, but we did miss hanging with everyone.
Wendy, your shirt was AWESOME, thanks for honoring all of us. Bonnie, your sign helped me find you all.
I've got to head out for a while this morning to help my brother out, but I'll check back later to see if there's any pictures.

There is a store in Lansing called "The Front Room" that is run by survivors.
-
JudyRock - I found some energy. Missed you at Hockey Town! Your scarf turned out great and I liked your shirt bling!

This was one of my favorites. Little super hero on Dad's shoulders.

I had so much fun at the race this year. Afterwards we went to the car to drop of some items and then DH got a call from his boss to..."get to work!" Unfortunately, we did not get to attend the lunch.
Anyways, it was a blast and I enjoyed talking with everyone. The necklaces, the boppers, and the wands were so special...thank you Judy. The signs were awesome!!! Thanks Bonnie and Nancy! And a special thank you to Nancy for all of the organizational work. And thanks to all who walked and supported our team!
Irene and I had a good laugh at the Survivor Tent as they gave us a plastic water bottle, and then water in a plastic bottle, and then another plastic water bottle. Didn't we hear something about water and plastic bottles???
The race was great and always a fun event. JanDun1...only "1500" survivors. The first year we went there, my husband was so overwhelmed with all of the pink. I think it was a reality check but also made him understand that we are not the only family to have gone (or are going thru) this.
Next event...the picnic? Let's start planning now. Love you gals!!! -
Hi Everyone. I loved what you guys did with your t-shirts, the wands, boa.. you are all so talented! I posted pics and I hope you don't mind but I posted the ones above also. Please add more since I took some terrible, blurry pics! If you are not sure how, email them to me! I actually ran into almost everyone who joined the Team but never together! Sorry I didn't get to talk to Jan and only saw her for a second at the parking lot. Judy, loved Greg's wig (is the name right?). I'm going to start looking for one now. Chris, was Conniesue there? If I had known I wouldn't run in to everyone again later I would have liked to catch up more. Now we do have to start planning our next soiree.
I kept trying to get a picture of the young woman who had a butterfly baloon. I finally just stopped and asked her if I could take a picture of her. She has wings on her back. I didn't realize until I looked at the picture and other's where I was still trying to get the shot that the sign near them was the Young Survivor Coalition. I'm wondering if she was the one from bc.org?
I am bummed that I missed walking with you guys. Can you tell from the pics that we are at the end of the Race? Team Meet wasn't a good idea but I thought UPS would be a shoe in for us that were lost. It's hard to get the non bc friends on the same page as us. Carol's family and friends got a group shot at the Ford area and came back for me and we got a picture taken but it's not online yet. Our sign got on TV, Channel 2 twice! I hid but the camera man came right up to the sign. I don't know if it was live or anything. Anyone else see anything on TV? I got a shot with Elvis since Mary B. works in the nursing home he visits. Cute hair.
I missed seeing you guys on the pink carpet. Hopefully it will be posted on the Komen site. Heard the bag pipes but couldn't get close.
So Bonnie, why did you follow us when we should have followed you to the Grand Traverse Pie Company!!! I pass there every day and have never gone in. I'm in if anyone wants to get together there.
Thank all of you for everything. I don't want to leave anyone out so big hugs to everyone.
xxxooo
Nancy -
Nancy, I am so sorry we missed walking with you. We lost the first group when we stopped for the restrooms.
Yes, that was Greg. His "wig" was actually a headband that had hair attached to it - I found it at the dollar store (Dollar Tree). I really didn't think Greg would get into it, but he was fun. His sister is a bc survivor.
I didn't get much in the way of pictures- a couple of Wendy's shirt, and a couple of my people from work. Next year I'm not letting anyone ride with me unless they can stay for HockeyTown afterwards. lol My sis and brotherinlaw were prepared to go this year even. sigh.
I think we need to find a better way to get all together at the start of the race too. I know we'll eventually get separated, but it would be nice to at least start together.
I was really disappointed in the way they did (or rather didn't do) the pink carpet. They talked about their nice new carpet and there it sat- empty in the middle of the crowd. Hope they get that better next year.
Hockey time- gotta go sit in front of the tv! lol
-
Hi everyone,
I had a great time yesterday. Too bad we kept getting separated - we missed you on the walk, Nancy. I even tried calling you!
Judy - thanks for all the accessories, they were awesome. Missed you at lunch.
Nancy - thanks for all the work you put in again this year. Great job on the sign, too.
Bonnie - how was the pie?
Chris - Bret stole my bopper!
I posted my photos on Facebook (of course). Here's a link. Let me know if you have any problems seeing them. Let me know, too, if you're able to access anything else on my FB page, since I'm hoping I'm not opening up my profile to the world. I'm not sure how anyone feels about being tagged, so I didn't tag anyone. If you're on FB, feel free to tag yourself.

So, who'd be up to a trip to the zoo in the near future?
Irene
-
Irene - I don't see any pictures. Just a page to sign up for face book. Do you have to sign up in order to see pictures? If the zoo involves pie I'm game....ha
Nancy - Oh my I could not just drive past the Pie factory......you must stop. They have other goodies besides pies. I am glad the Pie factory was not there when I had to drive to UM everyday for radiation otherwise they would of needed a crane to get me in and out of UM. Will add more pictures to your album when my computer cooperates.
Judy - Sue, Wendy, Denise and I went ahead and walked on the carpet.....someone had to put it to use.
Wings
-
Irene - you'll have to invite us as friends for us to see your FB page.
I'll PM you my e-mail address.
-
Crap. It didn't work like I thought it would. I'll try posting them to the Wings of Hope web site tomorrow.
-
Irene...sorry Bret took your bopper. We will have to meet up for the bopper exchange!
I might not have been able to tell everyone, but Conniesue's father is in the hospital with a serious sudden condition. She called me Saturday morning just as we arrived at the Race. -
Chris - Please let Connisue know I'm sending positive vibes her way.
I added the photos to the Wings of Hope web site.
-
Some of you inquired about my pink bag at the Komen walk. My local store has offered to order more bags if anyone is interested. Bags are being sold at $14.83 and that includes tax. PM me for more info.
Nancy - How did I miss the back of your shirt at the race? Glad Irene took picture it is beautiful! Was the butterfly an iron on? I still have more pictures to post on Wings of Hope website.
Wings
-
Cute bag Wings. I'm now pie obsessed thanks to you! No, that wasn't an iron on, it was the picture of the butterfly online and I printed it up on paper and glued it to the shirt. Then I threw on some sparkles that got all over the house. Not a good idea.
The pink shirts that some of the girls wore are available also if anyone wants them. Some of the other non-survivors are getting one. They have Hope on the front and two wings on the back. I told Carol that we wear our survivor shirts even if it is only one day a year.
I love the pics that you guys are posting. Denise with her cell phone calling me? Thanks for that one! I'm not bummed anymore. Chris's daughter posted a nice comment to one pic.
Sorry to hear about Conniesue's dad. I'm off to work. Hope to catch up more this weekend.
We are still getting donations to our Komen site. Maria gave me a generous check that I haven't posted yet and Linda made an online donation. We are over 2K! That's impressive - so thanks you guys for all your work.
xxxooo
Nancy
-
Nancy- I LOVE your shirt! I will probably steal your sleeve idea next year
I just tallied up my fundraising $$ and submitted it.
I don't know if Paula and Jackie sent theirs in or if they'll have me do it online.
Vicky said she will mail a check - hers won't count for the team though, she registered late.
Love all the pictures everyone. Thanks for posting them.
-
Loving the pics that you all have posted.........................I look like an old lady that got up at the butt crack of dawn and walked 3 miles!
I can't figure out how to post pics or read comments on the Wings site, Nancy. Surprised aren't you all?! And I love the pic of me trying to 'find Nancy!'
Looking forward to our next get together!
Denise
-
Wings posted more pics - so nice! Don't feel bad Denise, I always have that 'deer in the headlights' look on my face. It's easy to post a comment by selecting the picture to make it larger and under it is a text box that says "Write a comment ..." and an Add button. To add pictures, select the "Sign up" button at the top right of the page.
Judy - how did you get the donations to appear under your company name and not your own name? All my online donations show my name and I'd rather they didn't.
I just posted one online donation and mailed in another yesterday. Everything has to be in by July 1st. We are over $2700! Whoo hooo! This was our best year ever.
If anyone gets a chance to see the movie "Living Proof" I highly recommend it. I posted a comment about it under the Moving Beyond topic.
So glad it's Friday. Off to work.
Just noticed Wing's comment about the back of her t-shirt- too funny!
-
Guys, I have to admit old age here -
What is the PATH to the website? I can't FIND it anymore. I've got some donations to post.
-
Now that I've admitted to senility publicly (not so premature anymore), I wanted to thank you all for the experience I had on Saturday. I cannot believe how much better I feel about myself, how HEALED I feel from just one half day of hanging out with a ton of other women who get it. Our docs ought to write us a prescription for this.
You know, I'm kind of clothing conservative, but there is something about BC that brings out the diva in me. I have a blingy survivor key chain, and told my husband I want a pink fanny pack to decorate! I wrapped up my boppers and magic wand for next year.
Looking forward to the zoo.
-
To change from Me donating to someone else-went to my page and it just kept showing me- it was irritating, THEN, I scrolled down- there was a note that said If you are not Jb..... click here. So I clicked on that and tada!!!
Gotta run, leaving to Grand Haven in about an hour and I still need to finish packing and shower!!!
-
Hi all. Sounds like you had a really nice time at the RFC. Maybe I'll be up to it next year. Don't have much drive right now. The pics are awesome!
I have 3 more chemo tx's left, can't wait to be done! As long as they don't cancel any more of them, that is. Besides being hairless, some neuropathy, and tired, I'm holding up pretty well.
I'll keep an eye out for your next get together. Maybe I can make it to one of them.
Hugs
Judy B.

Nancy - I saw Living Proof awhile back when it first came out. Very touching story. So what kind of pie have you sampled? I liked the strawberry/rhubarb with crumb topping. The muffins are good too! I have never been to Detroit Zoo you know me worried about the drive. Would we plan on having picnic there or buying food at concessions? I did like our cookout at Kensington last summer that was a nice relaxing day. Our pie adventure - count me in for sure. I liked the Hope shirts the girls wore at the walk. They look like more of a form fitting t-shirt....do they come in baggy fit?
JudyRock - Isn't there a lighthouse in Grand Haven...if so Mr. Wings and I have rode motorcycle there. Hope you had a good time.
JudyB - Congrats on only 3 more treatments left. You will have the rest of the summer to recoup.
Sue - We have turned you into a bling diva survivor - welcome to the club.
Neesie - You will have to sign up as a member on the Wings of Hope site to post pictures. Once you become member click on the album you want to add picture then upload from your computer picture file. I know you can do this!
Hugs
Wings
-
Bonnie-yes there's a Lighthouse at Grand Haven. I'm pretty sure I posted a picture f it last summer. We rode our bicycles there this weekend from the marina. You'll have to let me know if you're heading that way again- maybe we could meet and ahave a bbq or something.
Bonnie- if we do a Zoo meey up, we can do some kind of car pool. If you found your way to the Meijer's I'm sure we could find somewhere to meet and you wouldn't have to drive all the way.
-
Sue - did you get my PM? I sent it when you asked about the website. I didn't want to post from work. Here it is again in case you didn't get it. Can we call you Diva Sue? We all need a little bling once in a while.
http://www.active.com/donate/detroitRFTC09/wingsofhope
By the way, we don't call it senility - it's chemo brain. At least that's my excuse.
Thanks Judy for how to put donors names - good for next year at least. They finally posted a donor from a check I sent in last week.
We have until July 1st to get the donations in. We are over $2800.00 and on the Komen list for top fundraisers. http://www.active.com/donate/detroitRFTC09
Judy GC - Counting down with you. Good to see you posting and hope you can make the next get-togther.
Speaking of get-together. No Wings, I haven't tried any pie yet. I still have pie envy. I'm dreaming of some kind of chocolate mousse cream pie. Do they have it? We could meet at Grand Traverse to make our trek to the Zoo? Or, US-23 and N. Territorial has a park-n-ride that is easy to get back on the highway. If that is too far West, how about meeting at Meijer's again? When are we doing this?
I'm not a big fan of zoo food since I always feel so grubby there. But, that's just me.
Neesie & DH - thinking of you.
Kats - I haven't mailed Judy's wand and butterfly yet. I hope to do that this weekend. I'm behind on everything lately.
xxxooo
Nancy
-
Nancy, I messed up your beautiful website and I can't figure out how to fix it
I thought I was adding a couple pics to the race album, but ended up with an entirely new album. I did manage to get the pictures moved into the correct album, but can't figure out how to delete the bad album. Can you delete it ?? thanks
-
Judy - Don't feel bad. I just selected "delete album" and luckily it asked me if I wanted to delete all 13 albums! Oops! I had the hardest time getting around and putting pics in also. Some things are just not obvious. Finally figured it out and removed the empty album. Thanks for adding the pics. You will have to add a comment with names. Still love that pink hair and that he wore the boppers!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR NEESIE!
