Sharon, why not find material with bananas on it! THEN make your bandana.....

Chekkum, I PM'd you last week to get your address to send you one. I do need to know the final specs...13" across the top x 8" on the sides?

    Oh for Pete's sake.

I had them done to about 94% and our power went out. Geeeeeesh.

I so wanted to post pics tonight, but now we're just home from babysitting the WonderPeeps and I'm just ready to curl up into a ball. We do have the power restored, but just not enough power in me. LOL.

You'll have to wait till tomorrow, to see what I've done.

Gonna go escape to my four poster carriage.

    Here's what I did yesterday.

    1. Started with a piece of heavy/slick newspaper from an ad. Measured 10" across the top.

Then I subdivided the top into half (5" into the middle) and drew a long line down the page.

Then I measured from each of those top corners, to the midpoint line for a distance of 13".  (I then allowed the seam allowance on the OUTside of those measurements.) Voila a pattern to follow!

    2. I had the fabric in my happy stash. I cut a front and back following the pattern above.

Editorial note: I wanted the flag/pennant/bananas to have a 'happy feel' to celebrate Checkum's contribution. Figured there should be some pink involved to match the tent. This graphic in the fabric also has some black in it, which I felt reflects the truth we know about this beast. I had a yard of the fabric and was able to make the 4 flags, using every possible inch, cutting out, 8 pattern pieces at the start.

Since Checkum has four angels on her list -- I made a flag for each: Toyful, Slonedeb, AlaskaDeb and Marla.

Checkum I thought maybe having four that were 'alike-ish' could be on the four corners of your tent..... just a thought.

Here's what the four look like on a rope together:

While the pattern pieces were cut, but before sewing, I took a permanent red marker and wrote the memory/names into the existing striped swirls of the fabric.

I sewed front to back. Clipped the point so that would lay nice. Then the final step was adding a rectangular piece (seen in polka dots above) to act as the 'hem' for later rope.

My polka dot rectangles were 11 inches across (yes I sewed a little hem onto either end) by about 4 inches.

Anyhow, this is what I came up with on a rainy afternoon. I'm sure that the lovely diversity that will arise from everyone's interpretation and capability will add to the festive nature of Checkum's winning entry.

Now all I need it your address, girlfriend.

This could be the first time in my entire life, when I've gotten something done 'ahead' of time.

    A whole new chapter!!

So on one I know I wrote: faithandfifty, OH

    Another says: Foob Fighters 2009

    etc. etc.

    One says BCO Escapees.

    more etc. etc.
