Coonie, um, I think that "slave-purse-taking-instructions" thing is normall called a WIFE! Now don't y'all jump down my throat, just want to see how awake y'all are!
It snowed a bit last night and I'm off to work. Don't know why I joined this thread as I usually redecorate rather than clean....sigh.
-
Made beds, did some ironing, folded laundry, put another load in the washing machine, and cleaned up after breakfast again. That's 5 things so I guess I'm done for the week!
Oh yeah, I forgot the best one - had to clean toliet and floor because my 10 year old missed again!
-
Good morning ladies. Cal so glad you had fun, its good to have friends and stay up late now and again because you want to rather than can't sleep! Good times are coming your way...I can feel it.
Congrats on the no smoking thing, thats huge and you are earning big points (and you're worth it)
No work for me today, had really busy 2 weeks and its really catching up. Other than dr visit to check blood pressure, I'm in pj's and napping. I retired about 1 yr ago and just recently I am feeling more girlie, taking time to moisturize, put on makeup, wear nice clothes....just because I want to, not because I have to. I am developing a thing for purses and shoes...never understood before the idea of switching bags more than winter and summer bags. I can almost accessorize on my own now (still need help from 17 yo dd).
Sorry to digress, that had nothing to do with the work I am not doing today (other than dr appointment)
Be well, hope the sun is shining today.

I'm a failure. Yes I smoked. The Chantix attacked last nite, omg...my stomach hurt so badly I couldn't stand it, I was so upset, reached for a cig.........needless to say, next time I attempt this, it won't be using Chantix.....This morning I have had diareah so badly I've taken Immodium twice now. And I had to go for a Catscan this morning ontop of that! It wasn't pleasant. Not to mention drinking that white garbage you have to drink. The Chantix did this to my hubby last time, but not me, so I thought it wouldn't do it...guess he was the smart one for not taking it. Gonna give it a couple of days till my tummy settles down and just try cold turkey I guess...Don't know what else to do.
Sorry Gang!
Hugs and prayers
Deb
-
Deb, maybe you shouldn't have tried just before a scan and the wait for results that follows....(hugs)
-
Hey Deb. It's understandable..............sheesh, quitting is very difficult. It will happen when it's the right time for you.
Gentle hugs.
-
Deb, you're not a failure. You're already talking about what changes you will make to give you a better chance at succeeding the next time you quit. Failures don't plan, or make another attempt to quit.
Like Sharon said, it will happen when the timing is right for you.
In the meantime, every cigarette that you don't smoke that you normally would have puts you a step in the right direction, so if you smoke even a couple fewer cigarettes than you otherwise would have, you are making progress.

Deb, congrats on quitting smoking. I have been trying...I am a failure at it
Denise,good luck at chemo today.
Well, today I go for an MRI on my lumbar spine. I am neverouse as all heck...I cant even think straight. I havent slept at night since I made the appointment for it...I just feel sick to my stomach over it.
Yesterday, I brought up some boxes from the basement and sorterd through them and put in rubbermaid containers. Alot of it was mementos from my girls when they were growing up.I took a trip down good memory lane at the same time.So that was an accomplishement. I didnt clean on Saturday as I was out all day..went to meet my sister's new grandson.
I love my bc sisters!!!!
Hugs and prayers

I wish I lived by the water Candie but I don't.

Good afternoon Ladies:
SO has been out of town since Saturday and I have managed to get a couple of things done:
I have cleaned the linen closet, taken some things out to the trash so he won't realize they are gone and straighten out my closet room.
I am hoping when he returns we can go to my house and moved the rest of my clothing here. there are other things that I need to move, but need to organize spaces one at a time as I make the big merge.
-
No no no, never a failure! Just look at from a different angel- think of how long you went without...very cool. Next time try to go that long, maybe an hour long. Any change or improvement is great, doesn't matter how small. This is a big, huge accomplishment. Tomorrow is always a new day, a blank slate, a do over. Thats the best part about tomorrow
Candi- won't tell you not to worry, cause we all know that won't happen, but take a breathe, one day at a time, and know we are hear for you. I will in the MRI suite with you, holding your hand. It will be ok. New family members certainly trumps housework!
Today I went to dr--bp is 120/70! first time in a long time, yipey. Made a few over due calls, went to bank and then decided on manicure & pedicure (they have a special on Monday & Wednesday -so I actually saved money. Wonder if dh will buy that one). Think I'm done for the day.
Prayers and hugs to all in need.

CANDI & DEB-FROM-OH: As an ex-smoker, I can tell you that not smoking is a challenging time and to have breast cancer too! Too much! I had quit for 2 and 5 years on two separate occasions. I gave it up for good when I was trying to stop and experienced a mini-stroke. I was thinking about buying another pack when the Good Lord took a 2 x 4 to get my attention - He knows that's what it takes with me. By the time I got out of the hospital I thought oh well it has already been 24 hours, 48 more and I am over the physical part.
It took me a long time to finally quit. And whoever said when its the right time, you will quit is right. Once, when I tried to quit a co-worker (who absolutely HATES smoking) offered to get me a pack as I was being such a bitch. The last time I decided with everyone riding me to quit smoking, they could just put up with me. There were times when I just curled into the fetal position and waited for the urge to pass. To this day I can't go into a 7-11 because that's where I got my cigarettes.
Here's what I've found: Every time I am under stress, I want one. As I said previously, I ask myself how I think having a cigarette is going to help the situation (there is no way it is going to help, of course). Then I think not only will I have the same stress but now I will be adding to my stress levels by picking up the habit again.
Think about not having the stale smell of tobacco all over your house and your person. When I smoked I never noticed it but believe me it reeks in smokers.
Think about not being tied to something all the time. You can go where ever you want without worrying how you will get your next 'fix.'
You can take a nice deep breath without coughing.
Your world does not revolve around your smoking. You are FREE!
-
Deb - you CAN do this!! Listen to all the other stories, you are not alone. How about talking to youself about your battle with breast cancer. I'm sure you didn't enjoy that. Imagine how difficult the battle with lung cancer would be. That's how I quit! Cold turkey. Everyone has to find what works for them. You will find it. I still love the smell of them but am so happy that I quit! Never again. You will be here someday too. Hang in there and try again!!
-
Wow... I missed so much today since i was at my paying job. You all accomplished so much!! Deb..do not call yourself a failure. Think about it this way...one step at a time. one hour.. one minute. If you can decrease the number of cigarettes or the frequency...that's progress!! It's like weight loss... if a dieter binges they don't quit dieting, they just start over again. EWB...awesome BP at your doc today! I had high blood pressure the whole time I was going for chemo...then I had my surgery and woke up to my normal 100/50..and it's been like that since surgery. I'm not sure if it was getting rid of the cancer or getting rid of my husband that did it. LOL Candi...I hope the MRI goes well. Barbe... I think you're right...the slave purse thingy is called a wife..haha THAT"S VERY FUNNY!!
I did no housework today. Tonight I am going to clean the kitchen. I won't cook though...we're going out for dinner someplace inexpensive. I may tinker around in my bedroom making it look neat and tidy. I really hate it when people come over and my house isn't spotless clean. That's what happened Saturday night....it wasn't super clean and I find myself making excuses...."Ever since I got breast cancer I haven't been much into house cleaning...it just isn't high on my list of priorities". I think people get it, but....an excuse is still just that... an excuse.
Hugs all around!
Stacy

Thanks Guys for all the encouraging words. I've had a rotten day, one of those depressing melt down days.............can't get outta the funk, even after the Lexapro...might try a xanax...........
Love

I offer prayers of thanks for your good news. This is the best news I heard in a LONG time! Sleep well tonight my dear.
In his name I pray.
-
Ebann - YES!!! WHat more could you ask for! So happy for you!
Caligirl - your friends don't mind a messy house. They know all that you've been through!
Vacuumed entire house today. It looked great until 3;15. Then the boys messed it all up! Oh well.
-
Super news ((((( Elizabeth)))). Groceries were gotten and put away today. Bills will be paid and put in the mailbox after I sign off. And trash was taken out. Not much, but I think I can count one as "housework", right?
-
Hey ladies!!!!! I'm like Stacy.......I had to work at my "paying" job today:) Just read real quickly over the posts....
Deb! Please don't beat yourself up!! NOBODY is a failure. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life!!! One step at a time.......(((((((((((hugs)))))))))))
Elizabeth----------SOOOOOOOOOOO happy for your news!!!
Now I gotta get some stuff done. Hope you all have a great night!!!
-
Just saw this thread for the first time (I seriously need it)
Have not read back at all.............
But have come on to announce that this afternoon I unplugged our Christmas tree and moved it out of the living room (fully decorated) and into our guest room (where no one ever goes.)
I figure that I'll reverse this process next Thanksgiving and have saved hours & hours of my life.
Those of you who know me from other threads will be so proud. The rest of you can just laugh.
Don't know that I'll ever find the thread again.....
But thank you for allowing me to share my day's progress!
-
woooohooooooott Faithie!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!
The ladies on this thread are awesome, and believe it or not
they REALLY want to hear about you and REALLY care
-
Elizabeth, woo hoo, congrats girl, and yes ... Thank God!
Nice pic too, ebann
Went to docs, my thing for today, wait, did dishes earlier. I started to make fish dinner, thawed it all out, got it all ready to cook, then really didn't feel like cooking so reheated left overs. Will have the fish tomorrow.
Think it's the weather, has me in the dumps lately, (tho running this low grade fever don't help) it has to break, spring is way past due here. I need to feel the warmth of the sun on me. Too cold. Have friends opening their pools in different states and we had snow this morning.

Deb - YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE as Mark Twian said " I have quit a thousand times" From what I have read fighting BC is hard enough and even though you don't want to get lung cancer by contuining to smoke you have enough pressure going on. If and when you are ready it will happen. Please don't beat your self up over this.
Candi- I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for good results on the MRI.
EWB- congrats on the BP mine was actually up today, but then again I was working on my bookeeping so I'm sure that was the cause.
Ebann- that is really good news.
Faithity- Christmas is just around the corner. You'll have a jump start on the rest of us!!!
Nana- Sorry for the dumpy feelings, sending rays of sunshine from northern california your way.
Linda it sounds like you have your on tornado that lands at a specific time...........
Sorry if I missed anyone.
Denise

EBANN ~ What awesome news - thanks for sharing!
Deb - don't beat yourself up about quitting! WHen the time is right you will get it done.
Faithand fifty ~ So funny about the xmas tree! That is a classic! But think of it as being ahead of the game for this coming holiday season!
nanoften ~ I did the same thing for dinner, I took out chicken breast first thing this morning to thaw. I didn't feel up to preparing a whole meal, we ended up having leftover lasagna from dinner at the in-laws yesterday! Still very yummy and all I had to do was reheat it! Love that!
Yelled at DS (16) for not getting his chores done before he sat down at his computer to start his chatting on line. I totally lost it, crying and screaming at such a minor thing. I did calm myself and had him run with me to the store so I could talk to him and apologize. He actually apologized to me for putting added stresses on me! What a darling he is at 16.
-

Denise....hey!!! Great advice for Deb....love the Mark Twain quote!!
2new1's....don't you just hate it when we have to holler at those teenagers, then we feel all guilty and have to apologize. It's been awhile since my DD was a teenager, and I didn't have to get on to her very much, but I always hated it after I did....
Hope all you ladies have a great great day!!!!!
Where is Mom????? Have I just missed her post, or was she here yesterday??
