Mom,
Regarding your post about us all being friends. Now I have to share what happened to me this week. About a week ago, as I was reading different posts, I noticed that under someones avatar, was the name of the VERY small town that I live in. I decided to PM her and we sent PM's back and forth. She lives about a mile away from me. Yesterday, she came over my house for lunch. It was so nice to meet her! She is someone who can truly understand what I've been through, and I can understand her. Well, she had chemo and I did not, but I think it's close enough. What a wonderful experience. I hope I have a new friend for life! So, you never know if the person you are chatting with is a neighbor. It may be worthwile to check it out. Isn't that great!

I am never in a room now with other women that I don't look for the 1 in 6 (besides me that is). Wonder if I will always be doing that now. I have always been a connect person so sometimes wish we had a way to say been there done that so we can connect to each other. Maybe bcg will come up with a unique pin we can wear without it being the obvious pink ribbon of cancer. Know what I mean, connect because we are friends here on the boards not because we symbolize a disease. Maybe we could get one when we donate a dollar here on the boards, that way we would be promoting a cause and joining a sisterhood as well that could be recognized where ever we are in the real world. The cost would mean most everyone could afford to donate and still get the pin. Just an idea.
-
Linda that is such a neat story!!
I'm on a coffee break........well, more like a diet coke break:) I've been able to get a few things done today. Bed is stripped, everything is picked up so now I need to get into some REAL cleaning. Hope you all are having a blessed day!
-
Hey, has anyone heard from Cathi? Maybe Margo is keeping her really busy
-
I had to go in to the city.......now home again and having a delicious coffee here too. Still imagining what it would be like to have all my cleaning done.
-
Good afternoon
I have got laundry in and was planning on changing the bed, but SO won't get his lazy ass out of it. I feel like going in there and hitting him in the face. My car needs a new starter but since he has been taking care of me since I have been sick, he is giving me a hard time about fixing it. So, I have decided to keep asking him to take me places.
I had class in the city yesterday and he had to drive me to the metro which is about 30 miles and then retrieve me at 11:15 pm. Of course he was late, but he still had to get in the car and drive. Since he has retired, it is very hard to get him out of the bed or house. It is frustrating since I am the one recovering from multiple surgeries.
Men can be a blessing or a headache; at this time, mine is a headache and I need a big pill to get rid of it.
Maybe I will get the sheets changed before time to get back in them.

caligrlof68 ~ We sing "You are my Sunshine" to our DD everynight when we put her down to sleep! Both DH & I put her down together. It has been our ritual since she was a newborn. She is 22 months and as soon as we get near her crib she says "SINGING". She hums along with us as we sing. I love it!
So far no cleaning today. I spent almost 90 minutes on the phone with Zune, that's the brand of my MP3 player. It has not been working right, so I tried the troubleshooting on the web, nothing worked, so I called the 800 number. What a waste of time! Didn't get it fixed and she had me doing so many things with it, the battery died! So she ended up telling me I had to fully charge it and call back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How totally annoying!
-
what a neat idea, Mom2two. I know that people in recovery for others diseases find one another at concerts using yellow balloons, or something like that. I just bought 2 silver pins from the womens shelter that uses a logo with a clothesline and 2 shirts hanging from it-very neat. I think it might be a nationwide symbol.
-
still thinking about this one...could it be like a greek sorority. Beta Chi Omega (breast cancer organization). We can have a little BCO pin. I will start the Hampton Roads chapter-we can eventually get sorority houses in each state where alumni stay free!
Hope all on line are having a nice, mellow day.
-
Well, I got a nap in. Does that count? LOL
I hate taking naps...Besides them making it even harder to sleep at night.
But it did help My head ache
And I just found out my Favorite band (the Jayhawks) will be at one of the Outdoor concerts I go to every year this July. You bet I will delay my Surgery to see this band! LOL
I delayed my Lumpectomy to see the lead singer play- LOL
Im pretty Excited- LOL
Pam
-
Oh- I want a BCO button- LOL...I have a Button Collection : )
Pam
-
Hey MB....I want a button too!! Welcome to the group if we already haven't met you:)
Pinky....you had me lol'd about your SO. You were talking about a big pill for your headache, or was it his headache.....well, maybe this is what you're looking for girl
You just take one of these cast iron skillets to the SO and I bet you can get all kinds of things out of him. We'llhelp you get him up out of that bed!!!
-
Hey Pam....a nap DEFINITELY counts towards something!!!
-
Pinky - And then if you clean the cast iron skillet after using it on your SO, you're done for the day!!
-
I like the way you're thinking Makraz!!
-
Well this afternoon really threw me off schedule. I had to GET DRESSED, of all things. and go to the bank and to the grocery storey aaannnnnnnnnnddd to get gas.....and to the pharmacy to pick up antibiotics for this gunk that we have passing around. But I was able to clean the bathroom, wash most of the clothes, fixing to put clean sheets on our bed, then I'm gonna call it a day. That's a little more than I thought would get done today.....
Hope you girls are having a great day!!!
It's so nice to all get along, isn't it??
-
congrats Coonie on getting all that work done. you've banked a LOT...put your feet up now and relax.
-
Geez Coonie, now I feel guilty for doing squat. But my arm is wrapped up like a mummy.........so I figure cooking supper is work. It is isn't it?
-
That dishwasher looks soooo nice. At my age and how long have they been available??? I think I have had a dishwasher for a total of MAYBE 2 years in my entire life. lol I remember when my kids were little, tho, and dishes being done was a nice, quiet time for me.
Well, they are done, cleared out the fridge, getting ready for shopping on Friday. started my list, too. DD is picking me up after my doc's appt. and will take me when she gets off work. our time together is usually spent on shopping trips since I don't drive and it's a nice excuse to see her. She is ever so busy, full time job, 4 kids, hubby (5th kid) and on Friday's she only works 1/2 day so we try to plan things to do then.
I even cleaned out the fridge after taking out the spoils. with my appetite, the food doesn't seem to last as long, I am planning on getting foods that are more user friendly so they will last longer. Need to get some of those "green bags" ... the ones that stop the produce from ripening so fast. I saw them at one of the stores we went.
Yes, cooking supper is work, I did that too. mac n chz and peas. simple and easy.
-
Belevie it or not I used one on those cast iron skillets on my first husband. He had a major drinking problem. I meet him at the front door and WHAM on the top of the head. He's lucky I did't kill him.... I got the idea from my mom who had done that to my step dad. except she mixed up dinner in a big bowl (mash potatoes and gravy ect) and meet him at the front door. She dumped and then pulled his toupe off ran upstairs and tossed it out the window, then she ran back down stairs and grounded it into the sand. Their marriage did'nt last long...
I haven't really did any cleaning the last 3 days, just picking up as I go along. What happen I had sooo much energy last week. I hoping it will come back in the next day or so. I did go to the store yesterday and put the food away so I guess that counts. And today I wipe the rim on the toilet.
Denise
-
Denise...those are funny stories!! I wish I had heard them a few months ago. I did dump a huge pile of frozen deer meat out on the drive way when my hubby was packing his crap to leave. I told him.."be sure to take this SHIT with you".. and i tossed it into the dirty snow/salt/sand yuck on the driveway. Needless to say, he didn't take it and i ended up scooping it into the trash can still frozen the next day. A cast iron skillet would have gotten my message across better.
-
SO finally got out of bed around 5:00 complaining that he was hungry. He settled for a baloney sandwich that he fixed for himself. I went directly into the room and stripped the bed. Then I left to go practice a song that I am to lead at the easter concert. When I got home he announced that he would cook the salmon since he know's how to do it.
Sometimes putting up with him is work.
I like the skillet idea, he does drink too much and is not a nice person when he drinks.
-
PinkyLee ~ Here are some iron skillets - use them on SO - size ranges on how mad he makes you!
p.s. That's my first time trying to post a pic on here! I guess I can follow directions!
-
Does working on working count as a job. I did get somethings done around the house, and then my four legged kids needed me. Coonie did you make coffee for everyones break, If we got paid labor not hour we would be rich. Take care, Deb
-
Good morning ladies!
I just cleaned my microwave again. My DS decided to cook bacon in it this morning and it splattered everywhere! Yuck!
I hope you all will have a great day!

When I win the lottery (notice I did not say "IF" )... I am going to have a kitchen with roll top covers on the counter tops, so I can hide any projects going on. A 50 foot long hose with sprayer to wash off dogs, kids, messy floors, and a big drain in the middle of the floor with a garbage disposal. There will be a place to sit with a foot rest and comfy cushions. AND a kitchen manager (not me) to oversee all the activities. How is that for a thursday morning fantasy trip?
No housework today for me. I get my herceptin, then a muga, stop at the cemetery if the weather cooperates, ( 6 years ago today my husband died ) -- then my son promised to meet me for dinner if he can get away from work early enough.
Hugs, nancy
-
Nancy - I like how you think. It's a good thing we live in different states, because I am planning on winning the Mass State Lottery!
I hope the weather cooperates for you and you have a nice visit with your DH. Enjoy dinner with your son.

hehehe ROTFL....Denise that is the funniest story. Stomping a toupe in the ground!!! hehehe where is the poor guy now? Did he remarry?
Stacy, sorry you had to clean up your own mess..........the deer meat and all. It sounds like you're counting your blessings everyday that you're not with that "jerkwad"
Hey Footie!!!!!! YES, we would all be rich if they paid us by the labor and not the hour!!! "Cause we're ALWAYS doing something. It may not be what we started it out to be, but we're doing something. Even if it IS taking care of the 4-legged friends. Yeah...when I make coffee, I share with everyone
That's what friends are for, huh?
So glad you're dropping by to see us.
Awwhh Nancy. I'm thinking about you during Herceptin and Muga. I finished my Herceptin in January. It's really nice not going there every 3 weeks. Hope dinner with your DS goes great! Where will you eat? Something delicious I hope?? Can't you tell my mind is always on food?
2new1's....you did GREAT on your pic post!!! Once you get the hang of it, it's much easier. I just browse photobucket, find a pic and come back over to BCO and post. Sometimes I have to re-size, but it usually works out.
Pinky......your poor SO would not be happy if he saw our recommendations for taking care of him
I would feel TERRIBLE if you really whopped him up side the head and hurt him!! Maybe you should go for the legs or something
Good morning Linda.....cooking microwave in the bacon is so much easier in a skillet, isn't it? Do you try the kind that's already cookked and you just heat it for a few seconds. My DH can't tell the difference and it doesn't make near the mess as the other bacon does.
Where's mom???? Is she still cleaning carpets??? Don't work too hard mom!!!!!
My goodness, Sharon's not even up yet!! Where are you sleepy heads?? Chop chop----get those houses cleaned today
-
Maybe this will get me in the mood to work. Once I'm done, I'll come help someone else.
This is team work!! Gooooooooo TEAM!!
-
Good morning ladies!! I had to call in to work for today because my 11 yr old DS has a whopping fever and headache. Poor lil guy. I nearly took him to the ER last night because the headache was sooo bad and tylenol wasn't making it better. Worried it might've been meningitis?? I didn't take him, I just moved him to my bed and kept a close eye on him all night. This morning he is coughing up green uck. It is definitely NOT meningitis...prob just a virus. phew!
so, coonie...who dresses like THAT when they're cleaning?? Maybe I'd clean more if I looked like her and had a fancy duster like she does.
nancy, your dream kitchen sounds a little like a Kurt Vonnegut kitchen...anyone read that book too? Ok.. title escapes me...the one with the "special needs" twin adults who ate in the all tiled kitchen with the big drain in the middle...and were hosed off after meals?? Sounds like a great idea!!
makraz...go to walmart and buy yourself a microwave bacon cooker!! it's rectangular flat thing with drain channels for the fat to collect in. No splattering that way!! I've had mine for years and it works great!
