Thinking of you and Olivia, praying she is holding her own and that someone is able to find a solution so she may heal and whole again. I look forward to seeing her smile and giggle with friends.
-
Dear Olivia, I know mom lets you read these..
I pray that you are feeling better! I really wish this had never started with you. We all deal with things. and you are dealing with something at a pretty young age...:(.... next school year will be so much better and more fun, because you all took the time this year to get you better!
Gods Love!

Good Monday morning.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Olivia))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
What a very crazy road you've traveled. I hope that there's a very good map available at the next rest area. Sending you a smile from my little moppet of a grand-daughter:

She wants you to get better so that you can baby-sit.
-
Continued prayers for answers and above anything some much needed relief!
-
kmccraw, she has many of the symptoms you listed! I just dont know why none of the meds normally given for this are helping her. I am going to keep researching this to see what other treatments may exist that we havent tried yet. Thanks so much for posting this because I havent seen this before!

LAM2009 , welcome to the thread, so sorry about your dx!!!! This disease sucks. Thanks for asking your questions. I dont not know what Apthous ulcers are, but I guess she doesnt? she had an endoscope that was all clear. She doenst have diarrahrea, nor does she ever throw up.
She is nauseaou 24/7 with fluctations only in intensity. Because of it she has lost 13is pounds (from 92 to 77 now). She says her esophagus feels like it is always squeezing and the intensity varies with the nausea. She has occasional heartburn. That is it, only symptoms.......
Faith, your grandbaby is PRECIOUS!!!!!! I could just reach into my monitor and eat her up!!! Give a bunch of kisses for me.

-
Karen, Olivia is still on my church's prayer list. It is troubling that the medicines are not working properly. Is there anyway you can have the homebound teaching extended until you find out what is going on?
Sheila

Karen - when do you see Olivia's doctor again? If she's been on these meds for several days with minimal improvement, he needs to know! He may have started her on a smaller dose. If you call the office, maybe he can increase the dose, or the frequency, or change to another brand - there are plenty out there! BTW - is Olivia 5 now, or is she older than the picture you have posted? Lots of prayers and hugs for both of you!!! God has a Plan for all things! All things work together for good.....
faithand fifty - LOVE your granddaughter's picture! My son does photography - and I have to make sure he sees this one!
-
Karen,
Not sure if this will help but this website has information on ABDOMINAL Migraines in children. Sounds a lot like what Olivia is going through. Might be worth researching a little further.

Prayers and more prayers coming to you and your family.

-
Karen, I am sorry this is not working so far.

Please Lord, send relief soon..
-
I left TWO messages with her pediatrician today, one at 8:30 and again at 4:15. NO return phone call!!!

I am going to call them every hour tomorrow until they call me back. She had to come to my office today for her homebound teacher. She came in and went to my landlord's office (we're very close) to see her little dog......my landlord bout started crying.
Olivia is so pale and I believe she has lost more weight. If the pedi cant get a quicker appt at Wake Forrest, I believe we are just going anyway and take our chances at their ER......

-
Faith- what a gorgeous grandbaby. Truly a great picture. I hope all is going well with you. It's been a long time since we chatted.
Moody, I hope you get into Wake forrest quickly for Olivia. Prayers to her and you, both.
-
I think you need to go to Wake Forest ER. They will probably admit her and you can finally get to the bottom of this.
One of our friend's grandchild weighed 17 pounds at one year old. Everything he ate came right back up. My sister, a physician, suggested just that - go to Childrens Hospital ER and they will admit and hopefully find the cause of his failure to thrive - don't wait for a referral.
Good Grief you and Olivia have had enough already!
-
Oh my goodness, how disappointing about the meds and scarey for you. I too think a visit to that hospital emerg. where you have the appt. is in order too. They need to see Olivia now.
Continuing to send prayers of hope and discovery.
-
We southern girls tend to be too polite....I say go to WF and park yourself in the ER and demand answers. Olivia is too little to lose anymore weight. Something is wrong and there is an answer.
We are praying for your family. {{HUGS}} - Gretchen
-
Oh Karen - I am with the others. Time for another opinion, and if WF is the best - GO THERE ASAP! I cannot imagine why your pediatrician did not call back, but you know your daughter the best. I am so very sorry that this is going on for SO LONG! Soft hugs and many prayers going your way! - Jean

Good morning ladies! No change, except one. Olivia joined up over at http://www.breastcanswers.com (I started one there under the "Give Us This Day Our Daily Prayer") because she wants to talk to you lovely ladies. I know many of you have joined that forum, if you haven't I hope you will at least take a look and maybe join up so she can talk with you all.
If you have any problems there, will you let me know?
I pray Blessings for your day!
-
Moody, a friend's son had similar symptoms and was diagnosed (after a very difficult time getting anyone to consider it!) with eosinophilic esophagitis. Sorry if you've already mentioned this and they've already tested for it -- I haven't read all 26 pages here, just came across this thread today. But I wanted to mention it, as her condition sounds so much like his.
He's doing well, by the way!
Hugs, prayers,
Binney -
Her pedi called me back right after I posted this morning - I just forgot to come back here and tell ya - anyway HE actually called not the nurse like usual. He sounded a bit agitated (big shock) but said he would see what he could do.. 10 min later his office called back with a NEW appointment day/time.
We are now going April 6th. Two weeks, but still way better than May 12th!
I here exactly what you wonderful ladies are saying and it is still NOT out of the question.

She had a better day today than yesterday for sure. If we can maintain this, we can make it till Apr........But if not, I have already got the hotel lined up and GPS saved on my BlackBerry, all I gotta do is jump in the car!

Binney4 I am going right now to look that up! Thanks so much for mentioning it!
It reminds me too, the pedi told me today to NOT call it "chronic nausea" anymore, to call it "intestinal motility" and that is what I am suppose to say at Wake Forrest......I havent looked it up either, but I am guessing it is a "medical term" for "nausea" LOL
-
my gosh.. you all have been through so much. I am so sorry. God will show the answer...
prayers with you daily Karen.
-
Binney, I am making a copy of what medline says about that thing you posted (lol) as alot of it does fit also. She had an endoscopy that was "normal" but medline says that it is often missed with endoscopy. Thanks again.
Stepp, loving on you too! How are Rads going???? (Yeah! I remembered!)
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Olivia))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Prayers continuing here. Glad to hear that you have a 'sooner' appointment..... still hoping that you can jump on a cancellation or something similar.
Praying for answers.

Karen - When my daughter was 16 she had a lot of issues that resulted in inpatient treatment for a year. Prior to that time we were a total mess for more than a year. A friend gave me a plaque w/ the "footprints in the sand' poem. It was a real comfort to me. I am sending the images of you being carried for a while - you have all been through so much. Hugs ((())) Olivia will get better. You are a wonderful mother! Take care. - Jean
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Olivia)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Praying for answers. Asking for direction for you, Karen.
Blessings on you in the searching.
-
Karen, I am so sorry that Olivia is not better by now.....I will check out the Daily Prayer over at breastcanswers....I would definitely go for another opinion. Kick that doctor in the balls. He should call you back and at least tell you to take her somewhere else....Come to think of it he probably does not even have balls.... Prayers and hugs
-
Hello all. She has had a more positive attitude since finding out her appt has been moved up. Sorta like, hope in sight.
The only new thing is she is having nose bleeds that are coming more often and lasting longer. Last night, it lasted almost an hour......
She has always been prone to them especially when she was younger. Certain times of the year were triggers for them (pollen, allergies, etc). Since she has come home from the hospital though she has had about 6 or 7. Could be a coincidence or maybe what ever is wrong with her is allgery related.......who knows.
-
Olivia, We are all still praying for you. Karen, I hope you are holding in there too!
God Bless!
Laura
-
I'm thinking a prayer which is going directly up to the Father as I type this and will continue to keep both of you in my daily prayers.
-
Oh Karen, poor Olivia with all she is dealing with, and now to have those darn nose bleeds! She sure is a trooper! I think of her and pray for her healing, every day. Are you able to do anything to stop the nosebleeds? The reason I am asking is that I was getting them a couple of months ago, and learned how to stop them. She would need to pinch the end of her nose with her thumb and forefinger, and keep it closed for 5 minutes, with her head bent forward. It is not comfortable doing that (they make "noseclips",but hard to find a pharmacy that has them)...your thumb and finger get so sore, but it worked for me, and I sure hope it will work for her. Hope you all can get a good night's sleep tonight!
Gentle hugs,
Kathy
-
Karen just a idea maybe a cool vaporizer will help. I know it helps keep nose moist. I am sorry that she is as well as you are going thru so much. I am keeping you both in my prayers.
Susan
