    Spring,

    Bangs....they seem to be in short supply around these boards!!

    My hair has been trying to grow back with this new chemo and it's grown to the point that I had my first "clean up" done on it last night!  You know the straggles around the ears and back of neck.   Actually just a good overall clean up and it looks pretty good!  Not much up there but enough that it looks like a very very very short to the head hair cut.  And the eyebrows are coming back in which tickles me the most! 

    I may turn around and loose it again if I change chemo again but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

    Bangs!  They sure are in short supply!  I wonder why my hair is almost two inches long on the sides and back, and only about one inch on top!  Sounds like I'm not the only one!

    Calgrl:  I hennaed my hair post-chemo when it was still whitish, and it didn't take.  You might want to wait another couple of weeks -- just a suggestion.

    Spring: be sure to take pics of you as a strawberry blonde!

    I just came back from getting my hair colored here is a before and after pics

    and here is an after color pic.....I did pick a darker brown but oh well next time....at least it is not grey

    and yet still no bangs Cry

    when I had my first cut the stylist noticed that it was twice as long in the back as in the front. If this holds true for others it would explain the lack of bangs. I'm 8 months out of chemo and I have a head full of hair, but only a few little curls to pull down on my (rather high) forhead. Sigh. Some day.

    The Brits call bangs a "fringe" -- a bit more descriptive, no??!!

    So -- bangs or fringe -- I want some too!

    I was having a hard time with the grey, at 42 I don't quite feel old enough for grey.  And all I kept getting was you look like you mom( whom I dearly love) she is 68,a young 68, but still 68.  I am not ready to be my mother yet. 

    I think fringe is a much better decription.

    Sure can do....

    My last Chemo was Sept 30th followed by radiation (I'm not sure if that slows it or not).  Radiation done Dec 15th.  So Chemo was aprox 5 months ago, and I just measured it 2 cm on top and 2 1/2 cm in the back.  It is at the length where when it is wet it curls up but dry straightens out and stand every which way( I guess depending on how the individual strand feels).

    Lori ~ My hair is right behind you, a little over an inch and getting a bit of personality. Also no bangs! A little fringe. My take on this is bangs are really longer hair than whatever the rest of your hair is. So it will take a while for bangs. My forehead is about 3" tall at least with a bit of a dent in front where I crawled into the coffee table corner as a baby. So I usually have bangs. Otherwise I look pretty good. I colored mine as soon as it was a quarter inch because it was very grey. My son hated it. I am still deer in the headlights, I hadn't really noticed. I mean, it was HAIR!!! The color went on very nicely but it did seem to wear off faster than usual. I got a new color then and that is very nice, a little darker than I did before all this mess. There's a pic a couple pages back. That is washing out a bit also, interesting. It's a temporary color that is supposed to wash out in about 14 shampoos, but I've used it for years and never redone it before three months. Maybe I have more grey hair than before so I just notice it more.

    My hair looks just like yours Lori. You l;adies have inspired me to buy some colour and get to work on feeling younger.I definetly have alot more grey in my regrowth than before chemo. I think we have earned a few more grey hairs ladies after what we have been through.

    You look FAB with the color!!! It looks a totally younger you, though you were cute as a button before. Now you won't be able to get the "Senior discounts" LOL.

    Did you get permanent color? I love it.  Your hair looks like a purposful "style". I am right behind you too, about a month behind. Mine still looks too short to be a style, but getting there. I am going to WILL MY HAIR to look as good as yours in the next month or so!!! (My last chemo Nov 10th)

    Hey I'm almost 8 month out of chemo and a month ago I lightened it and put in some hightlights!  Everything went GREAT.  Made me feel 100% better... Went yesterday and had a trim ( I have about 2 inches when I stretch it I have big time poodle head)  and she used a "lift" color on it??  I love it....but I'm with all of you girls I would love me some BANGS!

    Sorry--I wasn't specific enough.  What I meant to say was, some women on aromatase inhibitors (Arimidex, Femara, and maybe Aromasin too (?)) find that their hair is thinner and grows more slowly than usual.  I hate to say it, but that's the case for mine. I've been on Arimidex for 8-1/2 months, and my hair is noticeably thinner than it used to be.  I asked my onco whether aromatase inhibitors could cause hair thinning, and she said yes, but it hadn't been studied in clinical trials because it was too hard to quantify.  I am reminded of my elderly female relatives...

    So, <sigh>, some of us can expect our hair to grow back after chemo, but maybe not as thick as before, if we're now on an AI.  I don't know what tamoxifen might do, because it doesn't decrease estrogen levels like AI's do.  All it does is block estrogen receptors.

    Don't get me wrong--at this point, curly-curly but thin hair is better than no hair.  And, I do have bangs.  Lots of 'em.  The top/front of my head is where my hair is growing fastest.  But, the bangs are curly.

    Hi, Artsee.  My hair used to be almost that red (as in the Little Orphan Annie pic), when I was almost that age.

    ok...bad plan!  i picked up my usual hair color...light golden brown. Before i opened the bottle I took a glance up on top and realized that i have a combo of white/translucent hair and BLACK hair. whaaaaaa??? I think I will go back and get a darker color and actually give it a go today. THEN I will post a pic of my newly colored fuzz.

    Coloring my hair made me feel a whole lot better.  And yes it is permanent, I had it done at the hair dresser.

    Yes sirree... cali girl... cuz i was born in california (lived there until 2004) and of68 cuz I was born in 1968. I really should change it to Nebr girl.. LOL..but I think NOT!! Doesn't it seem like we are far too young for breast cancer?

    Otter, I heard that about AI's too. :(  I am taking Biotin - it is supposed to thicken the hair shafts? I don't know if it will work or what. I think I'll be starting on teh AI's next month. 

    I want my bangs/"fringe" back!!! Fringe lovers unite!!!

    Hi Ladies,

    I am 4 months out from my last chemo tx and have an appointment this afternoon for color.My hair is about an inch long. It's not too soon is it??? Has anyone highlighted (bleach) their "new" hair yet. Before chemo my hair was blonde/gray. My new hair is dark "something" with LOTS of gray. I think coloring may give me more confidence with the short short hair style.

    Karen, I am an inch and also 4 months. DO LET US KNOW how it comes out!!!! I am just using semi-permanent hennas, but my first one washed out really quick. Going to try a darker one next...

    Ok ladies....I managed to color my 1/2 inch of new growth. It actually took the color and looks pretty darn good if i don't say so myself. I cannot find my darn camera!!! It may be in the trunk of my car...chemo brain...can't remember s#@t...where oh where did I leave it?? Will post a pic when I find it! Oh, and I go out with a ball cap on too...when the temp is above freezing...and i really don't care what others think anymore. Of course I also go out with only one boob...imagine that....only one boob. How many of you thought you'd ever walk the planet with only one boob? I think I took them for granted before the cancer.
