Stacy, you crack me up! Ball cap and one boob. LOL. Find the camera and post! I am all about the hair color now. It's a fun phase!!!
Spring...
-
Lmduncan...Thanks that's very sweet. I don't feel that old either. I consider myself a young 60....except for BC which did me in for a time.
-
So had a new colour and some extensions put in the front......just to give me some hair on my face.....here's the pics....
-
I am jealous! You look absolutely adorable. The extensions match too perfectly!
Did you do it yourself, or have a pro do it. What color was your hair before?
Lori
-
Oh MY!! I absolutely LOVE your extensions!!! What a great idea. How long did your hair have to be in order to do them?
Stacy
-
I had it done at the salon......they did a great job on the colours.....it only had to be long enough to hide the bonds........about 2 inches for me......my hair was very blonde before but is coming in a lot darker.....
Thanks for your kid words!

Hi all
I am almost one year to my last taxotere and have about 3 1/2 inches BUT it's really thin, gray and lame. I was wondering does anyone know the effects of wearing a wig while the hair is growing back ? thanks
-
Hair Extensions!!!! I am making a mental note of that!!!! Thanks Vinogal.
Canadianmum, I don't know the answer. Have you tried Biotin? It's a vitamin recommended to strengthen hair and nails. (I think it's a B vitamin and I got mine on amazon.com).
Spring.
-
BTW, Vino, your 2 inches looks great. I can't wait until I have 2 inches. It actually looks like a real hairdo! lol.
-
Vinogal you hair looks FABULOUS!!!!
Lori
-
Lori, I did a strawberry blonde henna this wkend and thought of you.
it is cute to be strawberry - ish!!! LOL.
-
Vinogal, Your hair looks fabulous. I would have never thought of extensions. I doubt if anyone is this small town does them.
Spring - Had my hair colored on Friday...BLONDE. I haven't been blonde in years. Will post a pic soon.

Omg i love, love, love your extensions!!!! I am almost a year out from my last chemo and my hair is 3 inches or so long. It is starting to grow much wish faster now thankfully!!. How come our bangs don't grow btw...lol!!!!
-
Hi the comment on bangs rings true for me - thick in the back sides but not framing the face. Almost like I'm developing male pattern baldness! I'm going to see this hair doc (he's a dermatologist who specialised in this) and have had an appointment since january but the appoinment is not til june. I just want to hear it from the horses mouth if i'm going to have lame hair forever...my hair used to be so thick and long i had it made into my wig and am still wearing it.
-
June, Canadian mum, let us know what you find out. Though June is a long time away!!! Maybe all our hair will be better by then.... we can hope...
-
mumayan...I'm 41 and have alot of gray also. Do what you are comfortable with. When my hair grows back the gray is going bye-bye.
-
Hey Ladies,
I'm back on this thread! I am DONE WITH CHEMO finally! Had my last Taxotere last Friday. So my hair countdown is on!!! It didn't fall out 100% with the Taxotere, but I guess I still have a week or 2 left to see what it's going to do while the pioson is still in my body. I'm going to start taking pictures tonight, then once every week to see the progress..... or lack of... hopefully the earlier!!
Everyone looks great!
p.s. so tired of wigs.
-
Susan, I have to say, I LOVE YOUR PICTURE!! LOL LOL LOL. (____ Cancer) lol. I was born and raised in NJ so I can see you are a girl after my own heart!!
I started wearing ball caps and ditched the wig MUCH SOONER than I thought. My last chemo Nov 10 and I thought I'd wait until May 1. As soon as I had coverage and colored the gray with a henna, I started the ball caps! I think I cannot go back now. This was around March 1.
Spring...
Congrats on finishing chemo!!! Wooot!!!
Laurie, my gray is bye bye too. Using hennas so far to avoid the "chemicals".
-
Thanks Spring! Whereabouts from Jersey are you from? Yeah, I guess us Jersey girls do have a way with words huh?!
-
Hi Susan,
I was raised in "Dunellen" a small 1 square mile town in central NJ. I went to Rutgers for college and grad school!! I had to rein in my colorful mouth when I got a job in NC!!! LOL....
I went to Yoga last night (first time in 8 months) and wore a ball cap in and took it off when class started, and nobody stared at my hair , or lack thereof!!! LOL
-
Small world Spring.. I work in Metuchen, just down the road from Dunellen!! and know Rutgers very well!
Yah for the lack of hair! I can't wait!
-
Susan YOU ARE MY HOMIE!!!
-
Funny!!
-
Hey, has anyone noticed how little hair falls out once it starts growing back? I have not had any hairs in my shower drain or in my comb. I just tried to pull out a hair so I could measure the length, and I'm having a real hard time getting one to come out, partly becasue I can't get a good grip on it, but also because it's so firmly rooted.
I guess that's a good thing.
-
NancyD,
EXACTLY. Is it like glued in our heads now???? Well, I have such short hair, 1 inch or so, that maybe I am not noticing it??
-
I noticed this too.. no hair falls out I mean really NOT A HAIR! wierd.. I used to loose so much hair prior to all this just when brushing. So strange.... I have noticed too that my hair is growing alot faster now too!!!!
-
Well Spring and Susan I cannot hide it any longer, I too am from NJ. I moved to Florida from northwest Jersey (Sparta) after living many years in Long Island and Connecticut, but my childhood was spent in a wonderful town that you two probably know because of where you are from................MILLINGTON. It is next to Basking Ridge, but I lived there before BR became so upscale. I wonder if either of you know the restaurant Snuffy's? In the 50's it was a great place to go. I think it was right around Dunellen or Metuchen. Many years ago my father also had a business in Plainfield. Small world.
Also two of my three kids graduated from Rutgers, so I am happy to be sisters with you and know that we have more in common than BC. I guess this is another of those wonderful surprises we find along our journey.

Has anyone used Nioxin? If so, did it help your hair growth?
-
Nancy, yes, I noticed the same thing. Finally, 10 months out from chemo, I notice that I lose a hair or two occasionally, but it's nothing like pre-chemo. I actually have been wondering if this works like eyelashes -- since it's all new hair now, at some point will a lot of hair start coming out in the shower when it gets to that point in its cycle???
So have you "graduated" from the wig yet? I can't wait to see a new pic. I have to do better than my avatar, you can hardly see how much hair I have there. It is completely crazy -- after I take it out of the bobby pins and combs and clips it stands straight up. But I am not complaining, I finally feel like me again!
-
Lauren, yes I've graduated. I haven't been wearing my wig for a few months now. I ditched it just before Christmas. It may have been a leeeetle early, but I just couldn't stand it any more. I didn't have any curls then, but now I do. I found a digital camera, so I just might get a good picture taken this weekend and put it up.
