Janet, welcome.
Our "squares" are really 7"x9" in size. You can use any color or texture yarn as long as it is washable. Each afghan is washed and dried before we mail them to the new owners.
This is a link to patterns that have been used by many of our ladies:

Any pattern is welcomed.
Thank you so much for helping with this project.

Ok...have finally finished an afghan and its in the wash as I write! I have two ladies at church that are bordering the squares for me until I can (hopefully) get my hand fixed. I can sew them together and I can make squares using the knifty knitter.
Here's the question...financially I cannot afford postage to mail the afghan...soooo...we have a regional breast care center near here that I go to. This is the link...

I am wondering if it would be ok with everyone if I donated the afghan to them to give to the next dx'd woman with our "letter"...I will need a new copy of the letter to go with it and I will take pictures so you know its all "legit". We can put this website on the letter along with Gina's website.
Let me know what you all think and I will post a pic when its out of the dryer...probably in the morning! YEA!!
hugs

Hey Vickie.... I'm so glad you're getting back into this. We've missed you.
I've already taken care of the problem with postage. I've sent you some money that was donated to me for just this purpose with the name of the next recipient on the list. I failed to send you an updated version of our letter but will email it to you.
Thanks again to everyone for their help.

Hi Ladies,
I don't know if I told you ladies but my sister has just been diagnosed. She also has MS. She's having surgery on March 17th. Hopefully, the Luck of the Irish will be with her. She's having lumpectomy and now they found something on other side so they're doing surgical biopsy the same time. Anyway, I went with her yesterday to get MRI and clip placed for day of surgery. They kept her doing a mammo for 5 hours to locate the clip. Poor thing. She was in such pain. While I was waiting for her to have mammo I started getting nervous and I crocheted about 8 squares. I felt like a machine. LOL. I guess I'll have a package again by next week.
Hugs to all, Jackie

Ok I truely believe that if you just put "squares for the nut on the hill" and the town ..the boxes will get here.. the PO people are worried the boxes will get wet, usually they just hang stuff on the hook of the PO box, nope boxes are carefully placed under the roof of my porch in bags...lol got to love small town life...
hugs to all and warm thoughts...

Vicky..now that is alot of crocheting..

Vickie - WOW! They're both great...but afghan #2 is amazing! It REALLY must have been a challenge "breaking up" and positioning all the different colors... I can tell that the bright blue ones were placed strategically! lol A girl on TV recently had on a poncho similar to #2.
