Any one into LOST or FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS?!

AW -- the names of businesses are often anagrams. In the Season Three Finale "Through the Looking Glass", Jack, in the real world, goes to a funeral parlor. It is named HOFFS/DRAWLAR. This is an anagram for "FLASH FORWARD" ....
In the season 3 episode "Not In Portland", during a flashback, Julia meets with a Mr. Alpert from "Mittelos BioScience" for a job interview. MITTELOS is an anagram for LOST TIME referencing all the time they are lost on the island

There is a whole list of things in the shows called Easter Eggs ...
The "numbers" play big in the show:
During the broadcast of the special captioned edition of "Eggtown", Kate goes to court to face the charges before the crash. Her docket number is listed in the captioning as #42231615. This includes 4 of the Hurley #'s 4-8-15-16-23-42.
When Desmond talks to Faraday, he tells him to set the device to 2.342 -- that includes two of the Hurley #'s 4-8-15-16-23-42.
In the season 3 episode "Not In Portland", Kate and Sawyer go with Alex to rescue her boyfriend. He is being held in room #23, which is one of the Hurley special numbers: 4,8,15,16,23,42
The producers of "Lost" use any chance they can to put in the special Hurley numbers. Only 5 minutes into the episode, notice the ID # on the helicopter. It is N842M, using two of the Hurley #'s: 4-8-15-16-23-42
The producers of LOST couldn't wait to see if we were paying attention. In Season 5, episode 1, exactly 42 seconds in, the alarm clock buzzes at 8:15. That's 3 of the special Hurley numbers: 8, 15, & 42. For those who forgot, the #'s are 4,8,15,16,23,42

trying to add this to my favorite topics ... how do i do that?
-
Ok, so I was reading this afternoon, an old interview with the writers and it said regarding Season 5, that if you had time on your hands to read up on the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama..
Talk about head trippy!!
-------
Here's what Dalai Lama means: "Dalai" means "Ocean" in Mongolian, and is a translation of the Tibetan name "Gyatso," while "Lama" is the Tibetan equivalent of the Sanskrit word "guru," and is commonly translated to mean "spiritual teacher."[1][2] Putting the terms together, the full title is "Ocean Teacher" meaning a teacher who is spiritually as deep as the ocean.
----------
The Dalai Lama believed to be the current incarnation of a long line of Tulkus, or Buddhist Masters, who have become exempt from the wheel of death and rebirth. These ascended masters have chosen of their own free will to be reborn to this place in order to enlighten others. He is also the official leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile, or the Central Tibetan Administration(CTA).
(Remember, Ben was the Leader from a young age, now John is the Leader and he's dead but he was watched by Richard from a young age.... reincarnation??? or will John wake up as himself?)
---------
High Lamas may also have a vision in a dream or if the Dalai Lama was cremated, they will often monitor the direction of the smoke as an indication of the direction of the rebirth.[14]
Once the High Lamas have found the home and the boy they believe to be the reincarnation, the boy undergoes a series of tests to affirm the rebirth. They present a number of artifacts belonging to the previous Dalai Lama and if the boy chooses the items which belonged to the previous Dalai Lama, this is seen as a sign, in conjunction with all of the other indications, that the boy is the reincarnation
(Remember when Richard went to see John Locke as a young boy? And he showed him many objects and told him to pick the important one?)
-------------
Anyway, I just got that stuff from Wikipedia .. very interesting, glad I read that.
Peace out
-
Very interesting! I think tonight's show is going to be about what happened to Locke (jerry bantham) after he left the island.
-
LOST Fan here.....Sorry if this has already been mentioned but....speaking of John Locke....has his beard been growing while he has been laying in that pine box? Seemed like a prominent 5 oclock shadow to me last week. Guess he might be coming back to life in some new dancin' shoes. HunkyD
-
It is!
Obviously, I am bored today!!!!!!!!! And stuck reading my computer!! I love LOST and the mythology. I think someone posted a few pages back about Jeremy Bentham ... if not I can google the real Jeremy for you! Looking into the names they choose gives a clue as to what the character is about ... (there was a real Jeremy Bentham and a real John Locke).
-
Wow, I am a Lost fan but you guys are amazing! Thanks for all the insites. I spout these off to my son (16) while we watch the show, don't tell him where I get it from but he thinks I am almost smart (it's that parents are stupid thing you know) Anyway thanks to all who post here and help me to more understand the show and to fool my son into thinking I have a brain!
Lost is on soon!
-
Anybody absorbed last nights episode yet? Ben killing Locke...was is because if John committed suicide he could no longer go back and be the leader? Why did Ben say he would really miss him as he left him hanging there? Is it because Ben knows that he (Ben) will not live once he gets back on the island? (End of show has him on a cot with the injured.) And who the heck are these new people who seem to know a lot more than regular folks who just crashed on an island!
-
OMG ... I wonder who these new people are???? Ok, I will start looking around to see if I can find any insight from some fan sites!
I thought John (Terry O'Quinn) looked so handsome in his suit standing on the beach. He has such a confidence now.
Gosh, I can't figure out who is bad -- Ben or Widmore? Widmore, I do think is lying. I don't think he was the leader. Maybe both are lying.

The guy who was in the Hydra station found Island maps and Daniel's notebook and hid them from the girl. click on the link ...
It has lines going from one hatch to another .... says things like "real time" .. "spare time" and either "immortal" or "imaginary" time.
-
It seems that Jack, Kate and Hurley obviously landed in the past ... VW bus is working, Jin is in DHARMA clothes. I would guess that Sayid and Sun are somewhere in the past, too.
But the other people -- who landed in present time. The canoe things were there and it seems that Sawyer, Juliette, etc have already come running thru stealing one of the canoes. (remember they end up and get chased by some other people paddling after them?) But Ben is laying injured in that camp with them.
Remember there are 2 islands ... one that the Others lived on and the Losties and then a smaller one, remember that's where Kate, Sawyer and Jack were kept? Where they had the bear cages? Remember Kate or Sawyer thought they could run back but they told her even if they escaped they still would be on a different island??? OH gosh ...confusing!!!

From Lost blog:
The opening to "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" was on par with some of the season premieres as far as the sense of mystery it evoked. Initially it seemed to be taking place somewhere off island, perhaps Mrs. Hawking's office - more so, it suggested that Ceaser and Ilana maybe coverts working for 'somebody,' perhaps an intentional wink to the various fan theories floating around. Ultimately, what the scene did accomplish is a slight indication of when the 316′rs were - roughly. Didn't notice it? Read on.
The 316 crash landed on Hydra island, and the building Caeser was looting was an office in the Hydra station - this much was revealed by the logo on the files. Some of the pages inside of the files revealed that the 316′rs are somewhere in the future. The clues were some photocopies of documents we've seen before.
The image on the left is from "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham," and on the right is the same page from season 4. The page is from Faraday's notebook. As we know, in the current timeline Faraday has his notebook.
-
Ben.....you naughty scoundrel, you're almost as naughty as Desmond's father-in-law (who I think held a mutiny of sorts back in the day and was thus, booted off the island - he was an angry sort in his youth when Locke met him) I'm totally pissed at lastnight's episode holding out that carrot and stick with the Jin character. Jin is in the Dharma (or is it Darmah, or is it neither) van and wearing the uniform, and now I have to wait yet another week to find out if he recognizes his friends. At least we found out how Ben got hold of Jin's wedding ring.
-
Remember Jacob the invisible leader, like in the bible...I was thinking about twins and then I was thinking of Eloise and Widmore and then I thought , FRATERNAL TWINS, perhaps Eloise and Widmore are brother and sister perhaps they are twins, one evil one good, one a trickster and one not. (Like Esau and Jacob)
I can see Widmore having a falling out with his sister Eloise but loving his nephew Daniel so much that he provides for him, his entire life , including funding his research.
If this is so then who is Daniels father?
I can see Widmore more as the rich uncle, seeing that Penny and Dan are so different, too different to be siblings, but cousins are possible. -
jader, that's some interesting thinking.
-
OK, I re-watched the episode last night ...
that map, it says SPACE time, not Spare time --- and 2x it says "Imaginary" time.
Definitely landed on the small island --- and guess what, duh, the plane was in tact! They didn't crash like before. Remember this is Frank Lapidus, who was able to control the helicopter when the team landed on the island, and he was able to control the helicopter when they were leaving the island!!!!! He landed the plane. Also remember when Kate and Sawyer were imprisoned on the Hydra island they were moving rocks ---- and they were told it was for an airstrip.
Well, the plane obviously is surrounded by bushes, so either the runway never got finished or it was too short for this plane!!!!!!!!!!!
Caesar (the new guy) said that there 2 flashes --- first flash some of the people, "the fat guy" and some others, disappeared, then there was another flash.... so it is obvious that some landed in one "time" and then Caesar, Ben and co. landed in a separate time from Hurley and co. Seems like Frank Lapidus and "some woman" (Sun???) took off in a canoe.
Thanks Jader for all the insight!! Love the Bible and Dalai Lama stuff ... I read that the writers used those things to come up with the Lost mythology. Wonder how the Greek mythology will come into play --- the Cerebus, the Hydra, all those things are from the Greek.
-
hmmmm space time and imaginary time ...... what to think about that??
I am going to listen to a podcast but its about the 316 episode.
-
Ok, regarding 316 ..
They are talking about how the Shepherd family features in the show -- Christian Shepherd, Claire, Jack, and now -- Ray. Ray (Jack's grandfather) saying he is going to get away someday and when he does, no one will find him.
The name of the Lampost is apparently the name of a landmark in the Narnia novels. I haven't read that book. In one of the books, Edmund is charged by a witch to bring back all of the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve back to the wardrobe in order to fulfill a prophecy. Edmund fails and doesn't bring them all back. (So, remember a few seasons back they found two skeletons and they called them Adam and Eve.)
-
Regarding Kate --- she could have been pregnant -- like Claire was on the original flight.
Female cop was Ana Lucia --- now the one with Sayid -- female cop.
When Jack asks Ben, "How can you do that?" (referring to Ben reading) Ben answers, "My mother taught me." ... well, his mom died during childbirth ... so bit of lie, for an unknown reason, maybe just humor, but a twist there.
-
Jader - thank you for sharing all your great finds!
-
I caught that one about Ben's mom teaching him to read. I wondered about it because I had remembered too that his mom died in childbirth. Sometimes I am glad they have prompts at the bottom of the screen to help us along, some of the really small things from the past episodes are coming in to the present and I can't remember all of them.
-
It's on tonight!!!
-
You mean tonight, Wednesday, March 4? (LOL)
-
Is anyone else's head spinning like mine!!
I have been lurking on some lost forums and there are some interesting things being tossed about like Richard being Egyptian. (Love that Sawyer was successful at conning Richard!) Frankly I am getting puzzled on this time travel / spinning record thing. Anyone?
-
Hello?
-
Oh dude, my head is so confused I can't even fathom what any of the show means anymore.
-
Tonight!
-
Bummed as I was told that tonight's show is a rerun due to Idol or some reason. New episodes to resume next week.
How can they do this to us?
This thread is infolishous Lilia. Muchas Gratitudinal.
I'm Lost.
Sahalie
-
Hi girls... so I got ready last nigth to watch a new episode and than... they started w/ the re-run grand ole crap! WTF?!
-
Blame it on "Idol"
That's the word.
Side note. I loved the line Sawyer says while captured in the way back in time when he refers to Richard as the Dharma's foe as "your friend in the eyeliner" Something like that. Sure enough Richard wears major eyeliner. Whodathunkit.
Next week Lilia. Next week.
-
Well thank goodness its back on this week. Where's our Lost wikipedia person? Jader, any inside tips this week? That is funny about Richard and the eyeliner. I love Sawyer. The bad guy with the good heart.
