BC Diagnosed at 7mths pregnant...
Hi everyone....new on here...I went into the hospital the day after thanksgiving with bleeding related to my pregnancy and while in the hospital I discovered a lump...I was diagnosed on Dec 8, 2008 with IDC (tumor was 4.5 x 3.5cm)....I was 29 weeks pregnant at the time....Had a lumpectomy with lymphnode removal on Dec 17, 2008...Level 1 and 2 lymphnodes removed...found out that I had a clean margin but did have 2 lymphnodes in the first level positive...I am awaiting the tumor boards recommendations from here forward...they meet tomorrow...then I meet my onco on 1/14/09 for my plan...I am now 32 weeks and 4 days today into my pregnancy...my baby will be born sometime this month....within the next few weeks...will find out for sure next week...then its on to Chemo and then radiation....I don't know yet what type or for how long but it will be after she is born for sure...
I would love to find someone else who has expierenced this same situation...this may be harder than I think since the chances of being pregnant with BC is 1 in 3000....but it would help to talk with others that might know what I am about to expierence....this is my first baby (we did IVF to have her) and I have never been really sick so I am sure no matter what my mind thinks will happen it will be a rough journey...anyone with any helpful or insightful thoughts would be appreciated...
I do believe having the miracle of my baby will keep me going....and a great husband that is supporting me in every way....he has never cried in 7 yrs together but when I was told of my BC he cried...and said that he would be there every step of the way....Being on bed rest for 2 mths with the pregnancy and then healing from my BC surgery he has become the back bone of our house...and knowing we are about to have our precious baby girl has brought us even closer....
Thanks for listening to me ramble....I just started really telling people and talking about it....

I am also sorry that you are dealing with this at the same time as expecting your first baby. I do know of a woman that found BC when she was 8 or 9 months pregnant. She is the community leader of the ivillage breast cancer support message board. It is nothing like this board - just a few posters, but I think she could be a big help to you: what to expect with a baby thru chemo, surgery etc. etc. She has done great and her son is around 2 years old. She is an inspiration to many and is also a great resource. To get to the boards go to www.ivillage.com look for message boards, then cancer support, then breast cancer.
You will be in my thoughts - please keep us posted on the birth and your progress.

- Hi- I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. I've also been diagnosed with bc at 37 weeks pregnant with my first baby. Since I'm so close, I won't have surgery until after the baby is born, and then chemo and radiation, though I'm not sure the duration or in what order. I have a supportive husband but am really disappointed that I won't be able to breastfeed and worry about caring for a baby during chemo. I'd love to talk to you and hope that you're doing well and have a beautiful healthy baby by now!

Well, I did have my little baby girl, Haley...1/29/09...a month early...I had some problems with the delivery and ended up with a C-section...which will put my chemo treatments off two more weeks...I start Chemo on 2/23/09...I am having my treatments every 21 days for 6 sessions...about 5 1/2 mths...as long as everything goes well and I have good results...my treatment is TAC...and then I will have 6 weeks of radiation...
My Husband is very supportive...and lucky for me he is in the US Navy and his command is making sure he is with me for every step of my treatments...but I do agree with you jan72 about not being able to breast feed...after being put completly under general for my C-section, so I didn't see my baby born and then not to breast feed I feel like some of the bonding has been stolen from me and my baby...My hubby makes sure I spend alot of time with her so that I can make up for it...he says I need to just love her everyday forward as much as possible...
jan72 - please email me or message me on here and I would love to chat with you...I will be having my chemo before you so maybe I can set you mind at ease...or atleast just talk with each other as we expierence the same things some what together...with the babies and our cancer...

BCPrego2008, Congrats on your baby! What a joy and a relief it must be to have her here. I'm new to this site and I came across your post. I too was diagnosed while pregnant but I however was only 16 weeks along!! I was only a Stage 1, Grade 1 IDC, but my Oncotype score came back as a 28! So, doc said hands down you need to do chemo. I proceeded to have 4 rounds of A/C chemo and carried my daughter to 36 1/2 weeks when she decided to make an early appearance. I did 33 rads starting 2 weeks after she was born and could not breast feed either. It was such an emotional time, the joy of a baby and the weight of a cancer diagnosis and EVERYTHING that goes with that! Life can sure dish it out, can't it?! Good Luck with all your tx. You'll do great!! It's easier than you think. Promise!
