Has anyone started a forum for Chemo in Dec 2008?

Hi Judy. You are having a remarkably smooth time with chemo. I haven't been as fortunate, but a friend of my sister's also sailed through treatments with zero side effects except for losing her hair. It happens!
-
Welcome Judy!
Like you, I pretty much breezed through chemo...other than the fatigue and nasty taste in my mouth, I was fortunate. Glad you joined us!
-
Hello everyone!
Elaine - I'm sorry your not feeling well. Hopefully a good nights rest will fix that!
It sounds like most of us are doing better this time around. Keep it up! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day with their loved ones! My champagne is still on ice. I guess when the taste buds come back I'll crack it open.
Welcome Judy! These are a great bunch of women!
I don't have too much to say, treatment was pretty un-eventful (spelling?) this time. I hope you all don't mind me hanging out with you even though I'm done with chemo. I just feel like I have a connection with you ladies.
Have a wonderful day! Sonia
-
Of course we want you to stay, Sonia. My goodness, where else would you go?? Anyway, those of us not done with chemo need cheerleaders.
-
Hi all!
I had tx #5 of cmf today and it hit me like it has not hit before. I am dizzy and decided the best place for me is bed. Plus I have dry mouth like no other so I am sure that mouth sores will follow. Evernything I sip makes me nauseous.....so I am trying to have small amounts of sorbet hoping that will do something to hydrate me.... later I will try some tea and see if that works but right now I just want to stay in bed!!!
I have rads tomorrow so I know I will get out of bed for that. I am lucky and have someone to drive me to rads.
Hope every one is doing well and that side effects will be bearable for all.

Just dropping in to say hello and to send everyone well wishes. I'm about to leave for a consultation with the radiation oncologist and must admit to being very nervous. There is a part of me that is resisting radiation, and this doctor will have to prove to me that it is necessary. I'll let you know how the appointment goes. My last chemo is Thursday, so I'll most likely be here again on Friday to gripe about SEs. ~Bonnie

I love the photo and saying!!! Well done.

Hi ladies. I'm feeling aches and pains in every part of my body today. I'm at work and have only have 30 min to go. Thank goodness! This darn Taxol. I guess nothing is easy. At least there is no nausea and I have only occassional "mouth crud". On a lighter note, I bought a new wig on Saturday. It's a short bob with cute bangs and it's RED. I wore it to work today and I love it. It's short and sassy and something different. These wig purchases are getting expensive but I need something to perk me up.
Sonia - Like Firni said, where else would you go?

Mandy - I hope you feel better soon. This chemo @#$% really sucks sometimes!
-
Judy: Welcome to the group. I am glad that you are getting through your chemo with little to no SE's. Isn't weird how it affects everyone so differently. I am finished with my chemo, but still have the tomoxifin and the reconstruction surgery ahead of me. I did a dense dosage of CMF every 10 days for 8 treatments. The few people I had spoken to before I agreed to do the trial had really no SE's to speak of. They went about their daily lives as usual. I could never of done that. After treatments sometimes I spent at least 1 to 2 days in bed. So it is just different for everyone. Everyone here is really great listeners and you can get really good information if needed. Again welcome and glad to hear you are doing so well.
Lainey - I hope the aches and pains go away soon. Get some well deserved rest.
Mandy - like I said on the CMF thread. tx #5 was the hard one. Stay hydrated and try the Ice cream!!!!!
Lisa - Love the picture!!!!
Hugs to all,
Colleen

Day 16 TC #4 - Haven't posted for awhile, but I start radiation tomorrow and for some reason I just feel blah about the whole thing. Maybe it is because I haven't exercised much this week and it is surprising how quickly chemo wipes out your muscles.
Bouncing back from this last chemo session has been slower, I feel OK..... but just blah. Guess I am just ready to get my life (and schedule back!!!) Thankfully I have done well during chemo (just fatigue when blood counts were low) and am amazed at Lisa and Judy. Good luck with your last treatments!

Ladies - I am done, done, done!! I can hardly believe it. I am hoping this time around is just as manageable as the past 3, but only time will tell. I will continue to read and post b/c I want to keep in touch with how everyone is doing. For me, I will have my exchange surgery on March 11th and then I will start Tamox.
Hugs to everyone!
Angela

Congrats Apfuentes!! I hope you recover quickly from this last one and can just get on with things now. The one thing I'm really looking forward to is the exchange surgery. Mine won't be until May tho.
-
Woohoo...congrats Apfuentes! My exchange surgery is soon after yours. We are all getting there ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mary...yes, chemo really does wipe out the muscles! I noticed that a lot this last time. But we will get them back!

Good Morning Ladies
I was wondering if you could pray for my husband's family. My sister-in-law lost her two year battle with ovarian cancer last night. She was only 54 and was trying to hang on long enough to see her only daughter get married in May.
I'm so angry right now....I'm so sick of cancer..............
Love to all
-
Lisa,
Your family is in my heart and prayers. Losing a loved one is so difficult under any circumstances and these circumstances make it harder. My thoughts are with you and your loved ones.
Mandy
-
Lisa: I am praying for you and your family. My condolences on the lost of your Sister-in-law. She will be in my prayers as well as her daughter.
Angela: Congrats on finishing up your chemo treatments!!! I hope your SE's are little to none. The only real SE I still have is the fatigue. I feel real good when I wake up in the AM, but in the late afternoon I feel like I could still use a nap. They say it takes a while to get everything out of your body. I am too having surgery in March, but not until the 26th. My PS said he wanted to wait 6wks after the last chemo.
Hugs To You Both
Colleen

Lisa, very sorry about your sister-in-law. Ovarian cancer is scary.
I tried false eyelashes last night but finally gave up on them. I'd been treating the red blotches on my eyelids with bag balm all day, and the glue just wound't stick even though I thought I'd cleaned them well.
I can't believe so many of you are talking exchange surgery already! I can't do that until 6 months post radiation ... so next November at the earliest. I'm so happy for all of you who will be able to approach summer with a new bod!
-
Oh Lisa... I'm so sorry about your loss

-
Lisa --- I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister-in-law. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Good morning ladies. I got the OK from my Oncologist to take Ibuprofen for my aches and pains and it definitely helped. I will remember to take it early next time before the pain takes hold of me. I'm feeling pretty good today. My appetite is great and I'm not feeling any fatique.
Congratulations to all you who have finished chemo! What a great feeling. I can't wait to be right there with you. It will be on to 6 1/2 weeks of rads for me though.
Lisa - I'm really sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. My heart goes out to her family and her daughter. I lost my mom to cancer when I was 32 and know the heartbreak. God bless you.
-
Lisa - I am so sorry for your family's loss. You all will definitely be in my prayers!
Congratulations Angela! Yahoooooo!
-
Oh Lisa: How tragic. It is such a heartbreak. I hate this stupid disease. I will pray for your family.
Angela: Congrats. You did it. I am so happy for you. I pray that you have few SE and fast groing hair,
Lainey:Welcome back amongst the living. I myself have has a tough time this tx3 I am now day 10 and seem to be ok this morning.
I have red blotches al over my face. JEALOUS?

-
Lisa, my prayers are with you and your family. Damn Bootface cancer!!! I am so sorry.
Bold, of course we're jealous about your blotches. Try some Benadryl cream on it. That will usually clear up any rashes I get.
Texas I don't even bother with the false eyelashes. I put on a heavier line of eye liner and that is good enough. From a distance you can't even tell.
I've started taking Claritan D again for the muscle and bone pain as it just will not go away. It seems to make a huge difference. I don't think I'm supposed to take it every day for months tho. I guess I'll ask Onc about that next time. I'd rather do that than take narcotics. Maybe with the pain at bay, I can start exercising and building my muscles back up again. I just don't know how I'm going to do two more Txs. It's really starting to wear on me.
-
Lisa -- I am very, very sorry about your sister in law and will keep your family in my prayers.
Angela -- Congratulations on being done with chemo !! My last Tx is tomorrow, so our chemo schedule was really close.
Lainey -- It's great that the ibuprofen is helping and you have an appetite and no fatigue. Hope you continue to feel well.
I met with the radiation oncologist yesterday and she wants me to have the exchange surgery before radiation because my TE has a big metal port that could scatter the radiation and cause skin damage. Looks like I will have exchange surgery in 3-4 weeks, then 3-4 more weeks to heal before 33 radiation treatments and then on to an aromatase inhibitor. It feels good to be moving forward....
Have a great day.

All you ladies going through the exchange surgery are so brave. I admire you all. Before I had my lump removed last year, I had the BRCA testing done and it came back negative. I was so relieved because I didn't have to have a bilateral done. I just don't know how you all did it. I wasn't ready at the time. I think that if the situation ever comes up again for me, that I will remember all of your strength and courage and and with that knowledge I will be able to handle it. There are times when I question my choice but then I know that I cannot question the past and just have to move forward. Thank you all for your quiet courage.
Bold: You poor thing. I hope the Benedryl cream will help!
Texas: I don't think I'm going to try with the false eyelashes either. I tried them once years ago and I couldn't figure it out. I still have my lashes and brows at the moment though but I hear they might fall out after Taxol is done. At least I have a wig with long bangs now to cover my forehead if necessary!
-
Lisa I'm sorry about your sister-in-law....I really do hate this disease. My prayers are with you and your family.
I'm on day 3 of my 2nd tx of Taxol and I'm exhausted. I do have an occasional sore throat but that is all the SEs so far. I'm doing these txs every Monday for 12 weeks, so I have 10 to go.
My radiation onc didn't mention the metal port in the TEs. I too have to have 33 days of radiation but the PS said the exchnge surgery would be a month after radiation. The radiation is going to cause skin damage anyway from what I understand.
Congrats to all who have finished their chemo.....I'm right behind you.

I had the last FAC Monday Feb16 . The WBC were up to 5,2 K which was great. No Neulasta for me. I hope I can manage the Taxol without as well. I was very tired Monday, I was sleeping by 8 PM. Felt pretty good yesterday, but today not so good. I know the drill; the worst is the 3rd and 4th day. I keep telling myself just 2 more bad days and I am done. I start Taxol on March 13 and going every Friday until May 29.
Lisa- I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.
Angela - Congrats on finishing chemo!
Sonia - please stay in contact with us. We will always be December Divas of 2008.
