Any one into LOST or FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS?!

Oh, I was loving the season premier, but dh was annoyed.....he brought up lots of good points, such as, "Who's good, and who is bad?" It is often portrayed that Ben could be either (is he gathering everyone for his own benefit, or the benefit of all mankind?!). Now, we both think that Sun is a bit evil....we think that she is the one who turned in Kate and Aaron. The way she reacted to Kate saying what happened, the crazy timing that she happened to be in town just as Kate was on the run.....hmmm......
I'm fascinated to see the vulnerable side of Jack. He was the strong foundation for everyone, now he is a hot mess.
I am also baffled by Sayid. What is his motive in all of this?
And what about Hugo? Is he going to be the one that comes out on top? I'm proud of his character for turning himself in. What strength!
Finally, even though Locke was the crazy one we all love to hate, I was totally fascinated with his journey!
I'm hooked once again!
PS-I was confused by the lady, too, but dh (who remembers everything, God bless him, said that she came to Desmond (or was it Locke?, see, I still forget!) in some visions.
-
Sayid was used by Ben. Sayid's wife was killed in an accident and Ben convinced Sayid that Widmore and his people killed her. Since then Ben has used Sayid's grief and bitterness to go after Widmore's people. But after his dialiog with Hurley, it looks like Sayid has come back to his senses.
Hugo/Hurley gave himself up to the police to get away from Ben and to keep from being dragged back to the island. Remember Sayid telling Hurley that if he runs into Ben, not to believe anything Ben says to him and to do the complete opposite of whatever Ben tells him to do.
I've always liked Locke. To me he is the chiild who always was so willing to give his heart to others (like his father who only wanted his kidney) and tried so hard to win the approval and love of those he loved. He is childlike in his faith and tries to follow his moral compass and do the right thing, even though sometimes the moral compass is wrong. I think he is the genuine one in all of this and probably why he was chosen by the island.
Sun blames Ben and some of the Oceanic 6 for Jin's death. Even though she told Kate "I don't blame you", I think she really does since Kate is responsible for leaving Jin on the boat that exploded..
And I don't think Jin is really dead.
-
Yeah - I don't think anyone is really dead on that island (or even off the coast of it)!
-
Lost tonight... don't forget!
-
Yah, we are preempted by sports again. Grrr. I'll either have to stay up til midnight to watch or catch it online tomorrow.
-
So, what did everyone think about the suprise twist with Charles Widmore??? I was shocked but it sort of explains part and then raises more questions.
-
Okay, I just can't stand it. Nobody thought it was a bombshell revelation to find out that the evil Charles Widmore is actually one of the 'others' and was originally on the island???!!!! Did you miss that?
-
Hey - I failed to respond earlier but was nodding in agreement. Yes - how weird was that?? So how did a young Widmore (a solider?) end up at the evil millionaire obsessed with finding the island? Very interesting twist I must say!
God help me I love this show!
-
Remind that Lost is on tonight. Looks like there are just a few of us fans.
-
Lost is on tonight!! Does anyone listen to the podcasts? I love dissecting the show!!!
-
So now we know why Richard went to see Locke as a child .........
I was listening to a pod cast and it said we will see more of Richard soon. Don't know how soon that is. And mention made of seeing his feet? I wonder if that means he might have 4 toes???? Remember the 4 toed statue from long ago?
-
Have you heard the theory that Dan is really Charlotte's father? (He DOES love her and protects her like a father would!) Since Charlotte is looking for were she was born (I missed that somehow) and because she is getting the nosebleeds it means she has spent time on the island before. Dan was on the island when the Orchid was being built, and Miles could be Chang's son (remember there was a wife in bed and then he picked up a baby before he went to film the video)...... my brain hurts already.
Now we have a young & prego Rousseau saving Jen....
Can't wait for tonight's show!
-
I love the twists and turns in this show. Just when you think you have something figured out, they wap you upside the head with a twist...like Widemore being an 'other.' I wonder how he got off the island and away from the island vortex.
-
...and they still haven't given any clues about what the smoke monster is all about.
-
What about Ellie, the girl with the gun? Could she be the same Eloise Hawkings? You see, she learns that time travel is possible from Daniel because she sees him disappear, so then when she goes back to England, she studies it and makes sure her son does too!! And then he names the mouse Eloise!
I wonder why she was using that pendulum to figure out where the island is because a pendulum only swings along one curved line. Does that mean the island is stuck at one latitude of the earth?
-
The pendulum has something to do with time .........so I guess the pendulum can try to pinpoint "when" the island is rather than "where" it is. (I'm guessing)
Good pick-up on Ellie and Eloise!!!
-
OMG, I was just reading a theory about the whispers!!!!!!!!
Quote: "Sawyer has see a past Kate. Perhaps she couldn't see him? This is where I think we start to see the "whispers" come into play. Thoughts?"
Ok, so we know she didn't see him, we know that Rousseau does see Jin, others in the past: Widmore, Ellie, etc, obviously see the time travelers. But maybe the others learn how to travel at will so when they know they are going to be spotted, they leave, but there is no way that their voices weren't heard ...
-
From the another site:
Miraculous Cures
Physical Issues:
Locke is able to walk after crashing on the island (from having been wheelchair-bound
Jack successfully performs a seemingly impossible surgery on the woman who becomes his wife, allowing her to walk once again
Jin's infertility has (apparently) been cure
Rose's illness seems to have been cured (possibly related to the magnetic properties of the part of the island they're on)But I bet it's not magnetic properties that cured her, I bet it's the radiation from the island that cured her cancer.
------------------------
Then there's that Pirate ship that is on the Island .. not along the shore!!
The Black Rock
Turns out it's an old, wooden, ship named the "Black Rock."
A visitor-submitted note: "either a brig or a full-rigged ship. Judging from the spars remaining on the front two masts and the mast on the ground, I would say a ship. She was square rigged (across the beam of the ship)."
A visitor-submitted note: "It is an 18th-early 19th century cargo ship. Its cargo was slaves and mining equipment"
A visitor-submitted note: " If you look closely, you can see that underneath the words "The Black Rock" on the ship is the word "Portsmouth." Portsmouth, U.K. was the location where the first ship set sail for Australia carrying convicts in the 1800s. I think it's far more likely that it's a convict ship instead of a slave ship."
A visitor-submitted note: "‘Black Rock' is another name for magnetite, the first discovered magnetic material, and still the strongest one ever found. Small crystals of magnetite can be found in the brains of bees, termites, some birds, and humans, and is thought to be responsible for the ability to sense the polarity or inclination of Earth's magnetic field-very useful for navigation."

The numbers are: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42*The numbers add up to: 108
*The numbers were originally being transmitted from the Black Rock Radio Tower until Rousseau changed the transmission to her distress signal
*Hurley used the numbers to win the lottery
*Sam Toomey (a non-island character) used the numbers to win a bean count
*The numbers appeared on the side of the hatch that Locke & Boone discovered (Hurley saw them on the hatch & warned Locke to not light the dynamite's fuse... Locke still did)
*Rousseau wrote the numbers on her map seven times
*The Numbers must be entered into a machine within "The Hatch" every 108 minutes (or, it's believed, it will be the end ... of everything.)
*The Numbers were listed on the bottles of fluid that Desmond was injecting into his arm AND on the bottles of fluid being injected into Claire's baby (in utero). The fluid was referenced as a "vaccine"
*In a video (as part of "The LOST Experience" game), Alvar Hanso references the "Valenzetti Equation" of Enso Valenzetti that predicts the exact number of years and months until humanity "extinquishes itself" & reveals that "the numbers" (4 8 15 16 23 42) are "numerical values to the core environment and human factors" in the Valenzetti Equation. He goes on to emphasize that the goal of the work on the island is to change (at least) one of the "core numerical values" and that doing so will save humanity.
Instances of the numbers are too numerous to list here, but there is a great collection of the uses of 4,8,15,16,23,42 at http://thelostnumbers.blogspot.com(I look at all the numbers, like if someone presses a number on the elevator, is it the 42nd floor? Addresses are often a combination of numbers .... 416 Ocean Street ... just start paying attention to dates, license plates, etc ...)
-
I think the Valenzetti Equation was made up for Lost fans wasn't it? I Googled and it seems to be faux book. Cool theory in regards to why the numbers would be so important...

Journey, the Lost Experience is an alternate reality game put out by ABC. The things in the game have often come out in the show.
-
Let's start, however, with what we already knew before Season 5 aired. The main thing I want to point you to is the 2008 Comic Con video. For those of you who missed it - basically Lost cast and crew host a special Q&A session every year at the Comic Convention is San Diego. In 2007, they played a cool video for us featuring some time travelling bunnies. It was also the first mention of an Orchid station. In 2008, a character of the then current Lost ARG, Dharma Initiative Recruiting Project (which was about as innovative as its title), filmed another Pierre Chang video being played. Amongst other things, this new video revealed the guy's true name. It also featured a character called Lara off-camera, a baby, and a guy behind the camera with a suspiciously familiar voice.
So watch the video ....... the baby behind the scenes is Miles!!!!!

The smoke monster is big, it's small ...... it seems that Ben can control it. It can rip out trees. Can't figure it out ..... The monster has been referred to as Cerberus by the map. Then one of the french guys gets sucked into the temple ... like a vent ... and then lose an arm (another running theme about losing body parts in Lost)
Cerberus
On the blast door map, several cryptic notations describe a "Cerberus system" along with four instances of the initials "CV". The producers of the show confirmed at Comic-Con 2007 that Radzinsky and Kelvin used the term "Cerberus" to refer to the Monster and that "CV" stands for "Cerberus Vents".
The Official Jigsaw Puzzles also revealed that the "CV" notations on the blast door map stand for "Cerberus Vent". It is assumed that the "vents" Radzinsky and Kelvin were referring to are underground passageways used by the Monster, such as the hole that Locke was nearly pulled into. ("Exodus, Part 2")
On the Lost Dashboard Theme for the Xbox 360, the words "Cerberus System" are in the background of the System Settings page alongside other various Lost-related terms, like Geronimo Jackson, Ben Linus, and Jacob.
In Greco-Roman mythology, Cerberus was the three-headed watchdog of Hades who permitted spirits to enter the lower world and prevented them from leaving. Only a few heroes ever got by Cerberus, including: Orpheus, who charmed him with music; Hercules, who, depending on the myth, either wrestled him into submission or charmed him with kindness; and, in Roman myth, Aeneas and Psyche, both of whom drugged him. Cerberus was the child of Typhon and Echidna.

Oh Lilia, where are you??? I know you watched it, you saw it before me!!!
You're right, it was wicked good last night!!
----------
Listened to the Dharmalar's podcast partway thru ... it was on the episode, "Because You Left" .. the season opener. They have a coooooooooo theory about how the Island moves or skips thru time, why it disappeared, and their theory totally helps to see why the Nigerian plane ended up on the island and why they only have 70 hours to get back!!!!
-
I love this thread cuz I love the show. LOST.
I go with the flow of the show and get excited if I figure something out otherwise I rely on you guys. friends and family to discuss it all. One thing we all agree on is that just when you think you have something figured out. Zazammm. Nope. Other direction.
One thing though. If they keep repeating those white light time travel deals I will have to get some high intensity beta sun glasses. Those things are giving me headaches.
Anyone else? Great information you share Rocktobermom and Jazz and others.
Speaking of wicked (which I agree ~ brilliant show) I got tickets to take my family to see the play Wicked at the Orpheum in San Francisco. It's an annual thing. Just thought I'd throw that in.
Continue.
-
I was listening to another podcast on Lost and it said, to look at Richard's bare feet. So does that mean it rules him out as the 4 toed model for the statue? Or does it mean he or his people are part of the 4 toed people???
At Comic Con, the producers/writers said that Vincent, the dog, makes it all the way thru to the end of the show ... so that's Season 6.
All the character's have Daddy issues ..
Ben -- killed his dad, his dad always blamed him for the death of ben's mom --- she died in childbirth.
Jack -- Dad is alcoholic, killed a patient, had an affair, another child that Jack never knew about (Claire).
Sawyer -- saw his parents be killed by a con man named, Sawyer.
Kate -- killed her abusive father.
Jin -- his dad ... oh gosh, loved him to bits, probably wasn't even his dad, but Jin was son of prostitute, someone needed to care for the baby, so the fisherman raised him as his own but Jin was ashamed of him (not knowing the details of his birth)
Sun -- dad was controlling, head of Korean "mob" family.
Claire- never knew her dad til her mom was in a coma after a car accident -- Christian Shepherd
Charlie -- I think I read his dad was supportive of the boys being in the band, not sure ..
Penny -- dad is Widmore, need I say more???
Ok ..... so daddy issues is a running theme.

Just found this thread. I'm a huge LOST fan. No one is allowed to talk to me on Wednesday nights. I love hating the Ben character. He's a bad guy disguised as a good guy who makes hard choices that people hate him for AND a good guy disguised as a bad guy to fool the real bad guys who are maybe the good guys trying to protect the others from the bad guy who is Ben (I think my head just exploded) Ben is a master at tricking everyone into precarious predicaments that leave his "victims" with no other choice but to believe or help or follow or trust him. Think I'll introduce Ben to my bc, it won't know what to do and in it's confusion, will jump out of my ear and into the gutter.
