This sounds like so much fun!! I would love to come too. I will try and get the time off in August. Shouldn't be to much of a drive from OHIO.
Thanks for organizing. When I am sure I can make it...I would love to help in any way.

I have cabin fever so give me ideas and work to do!!!
-
I would love to come. I don't post a whole lot, but I know from other posts, that the previous pinkstocks have been pretty wonderful.
I dont' know what's going to happen with the whole economy thing though between now and then, and dont' know if I can afford to come, but would love to try to get there.

For fund raising a 50 50 raffle can be done. No prizes are given other than the money collected for tickets. Half of the money collected goes to the charity and the other half can be one big prize, OR one big prize and one small one (like 1/3 for small and 2/3 for big). Am I making any sense?
Instead of a basket exchange, how about using cloth tote bags? There are dozens of bags that can be used for groceries (environmentally friendly, save a tree, etc) , or I particularly like ones with a zipper closure. The tote bag could be of your city, state, or blank so you can have others sign in magic marker .... I am thinking of those who may be flying and a basket could be hard or impossible to pack. Michael's craft store has blank ones in many colors.
Is there a "registration fee" ? One event I attended had a $5 registration fee and several who knew they would not be able to attend "donated" the registration fee to the particular charity.
Maybe this is a silly question, but how are meals handled? Ok, enough rambling for now. HUGS, Nancy

hiya nancy
in 2007 the "baskets" were all sorts from real flower collecting baskets, paper gift bags, cloth bags, rubbermaid containers ... you name it !! was fun lots of fun
hope to get to meet you ....
-
Nancy-Boy you are just full of great ideas. As for the food. The last 2 years we each paid MB a certain amount of money in advance so the food could be bought ahead of time. Last year I think it was $125 but I paid some more because I was bringing 3 hungry boys with me. Brenda (Naniam) brought a bunch of bread and cold cuts from her business for lunches but she is not sure if she is going this year. MB's family made us breakfast on the grill in the mornings. It was so nice. For Saturday we had fried turkeys. They were the best turkeys I ever had. There was plenty of soda, juice, beer, wine, water and blue drinks for all.
-
I won't miss Pinkstock 2009 this year. Tim has already said he'd bring me up north!
-
Bren glad to see you here..and hope to hug you soon..
Nancy.."baskets" was a very loose meaning.. we tried to remember those that were flying. BUT I did mail a whole bunch of boxes home...lol...so no worries...as far as $$ went, it was to help with supplies & food.. oh yeah and porta potty... the campers I "borrow" are free and so is the great companionship.. thi syear I will make sure Crazy Bob is around, we did miss his fires...
BMD.. turkeys have already been aquired..thanks to my dad...lol.. and lining up the fryers soon...lol.. can't not have fried turkey... I sure do hope you can make it again...(always keeping you close to my heart)
My DH is keeping a closer eye this year, he has already asked who is coming.. lol.. the firs tyear it was a surprise.. and last year we had some surprises too.. i am so glad some just showed up... what a great gift that was..
ok rambling.. so sorry....
MB the nut on the hill.. need to get a shot of the snow banks.. just about 12' tall now ..hmm wonder if they will melt by Aug..
-
I am trying to get my 4 chemo buddies to drive up together. Giving them plenty of advance notice. We are in the DC area and I have a station wagon, other gal has a van. And I am having a meet and greet on Saturday at the mall for BC ladies in the area. last time we had total of 5, hoping for 10 this time. This sounds like so much fun and I know the "in person" is awesome after getting to know people online.
So glad to have something on the calendar to look forward to. HUGS, Nancy
-
HI all...I went to the dollar store today and found some neat kid crafts...the dollar store is all that fits in my budget this year LOL.
MB...I think Nate and I will try to tent it this year...lets just hope the tent doesn't spring a leak like last year
.
I love the basket exchange...I ended up with AlaskaDebs basket last year and it is such a blessing to have now.
As for raffles...we have several gift shops in our area that are truly unique and would gladly give things for raffles...we may also be able to do the auction again as it was so much fun. We'll need a new auctioneer though. The one we had last year sucked (
).
MB...I am sending my donation to you as soon as my income tax comes in!!! I am going to be available to come on Thursday to help if you want me too...
hugs all

anyone seen this: http://www.quiltersofsc.org/artfullbras/artfullbras.htm
If we all bring some craft things, sequins, ribbons, etc. we could make some of our own??? not sure a good idea, but throwing it out to consider. I bet the kids would jump on this also.
-
Bren - can't wait to see you. I'm sure Mr. Tim and Jose will have lots to talk about.
Glad to see excitement is building up and look forward to meeting new friends.
-
Oh the artful bra's idea would be fun...I have tons of ribbon and beadsI can bring. We can all bring one of our old bra's to decorate. Someone here has an avatar that shows a bra hanging from a fence with flowers growing out of it...its really pretty...I can bring seeds! Forget Me Nots LOL.
Hi OD...I am guessing that you are getting a hotel this year LOL. You can try tenting with Nate and I if you like!
I too am thrilled to see that we are going to have new girls this year...
Christinek and Donna (Casino Girl)...are you coming?
-
Odalys, have you been before? I am thinking of a hotel. Any ideas on it? PM me if you want to discuss more.
I am going to try a bra with flowers in it... can we call it "recycling" ?? I know another Casino Girl, from Iowa, She might join us if she can get the time off of work. Anyone have experience with fabric glue? May not be waterproof? As I am out and about, I will scavenge for sequins and beads.
-
Terry & I will be back - she all ready got some goodies donated from her job!!
MB - since I an "technically" a child of the "60's I think your idea is groovy!!! lol.
Staying in a hotel this time around. (:>)
Hey, Susan - since Woodstock was a half a million strong - how about incorporating the number of people that pass every year on the shirt?
Gotta start finding those tasty test tubes.....................
Valerie
-
If we get a group for one particular hotel, we might get a discount rate...
-
Hi Lefty. Yes, I was there last year with DH and son. We had a great time. I hope you can make it this year. The experience to bond with our sisters is priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We drove from Miami all the way to the top of the hill! When we reached the top of the hill, there were MB, and Val (Livestrong) lighting the way with their flashlights. You would think a plane was landing...
It was hysterical! MB had a very nice trailer for us so we camped out Friday night. But, we are such city slickers, we decided to stay at the Great Western Sat night. Several ladies also stayed at the same hotel. But, there are also "Microtels" close by...not much difference in price. I agree, if we get a group staying at the same hotel, we should be able to negotiate a deal. I will call them for info on a group rate. Oh, this is so exciting.
-
Oh I wish I could commit. I can't miss it. I will just be heartbroken. Last year was one of the best times of my life. The whole vacation with my family and then to meet all of you. I shall find away.
-
I'll be at Pinkstock pending any complications!!! Can't wait to meet everyone!!!
-
I am so happy to be going this year. I've got time to find someone to housesit my dogs.
Vickie .. love the idea about the bras. I've also got tons of beads and ribbon.
Mr. Tim is not a camper. Ha, me either. One time when he was on the road he stayed at the motel in Cuba. He said it was nice. Neesie stays there too. One thing for sure, for those hotel gals, make your reso's early.
I love Woodstock!!
See you gals in 7 months!!
love,
Bren
-
MB....funny about your hubby telling you not to give out directions. If Cleveland was 3 hrs away..then I am less than 4!!! Easy drive!! I am coming.
Since the theme is "Woodstock", by the way...I am old enough to remember..and my oldest sister attended!! What about doing tie-dye shirts?? Pink and white...or more colors. Just a thought. It would be a cheap idea.
I love the idea of basket/bags. I love doing crafts and putting things together. Please, let me know of how I can help!!
Val...I am going to contact Mel..and see if she will go up with me!
This will be awesome!
xoxo
Lisa
Val....what hotel are you staying at?? Give me the info. when you have it. thanks sweetie!
-
Can't wait to meet you Lisa, Bethie, and Nancy.
BMD - Is your family interested in going as well? It seemed your DH and boys had a good time as well.
-
I won't be able to make it to PinkStock this year but a couple of years ago (2004 I think), my niece tie-died the team shirts for our Race for the Cure with pink and purple. Check out the bottom of this page to see the back of her shirt where she wrote the reasons I race. http://72.167.134.253/komen-nc-foothills/race.html
That is the only pink shirt my hubby will wear.
Sheila
-
I did tie dyed shirts with the kids last year...it was so much fun.
If everyone wants to bring a t-shirt I can supply the dye...should we do pink with one other color or just pink? I can bring some fabric pens and we can all sign each others shirts...be sure to inlcude the kids.
Pretty shirts Sheila!!
-
That's a good idea Vickie...signing the shirts.
Sheila..like the shirt. I wish you could come!
Looking forward to meeting everyone.
-
Lisa I want to come but I have a reunion of Sing Out Troy Ohio cast members the week before and I can't afford 2 trips to the North that close together. (Sing Out Troy was a show choir group of High School Students and my family was involved with them for about 12 yrs before we moved South).
-
MB will tell everyone not to let my DH give you directions!! He had me going through mountain passes from the airport to MB's house. [I had never driven a vehicle in mountains before this trip]
