Thanks for all the birthday wishes! It's means so much to have such great bosom buddies! Love ya all.
Yeah RanD! Great news...here's to feeling better! Jeopardy hummm, I could'nt pull that one off if I tried. I would be more suited for Wheel of Fortune or Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader although I'm not very good at that one either.
-
Ohhhhh, I know! I know! Call on me, please!
I know which TV show we should all be on. .... SURVIVOR!
heh heh
otter
-
Can't stay just wanted to add Birthday wishes to Roxi, and say I'm glad you felt a bit normal for awhile ranD and glad your onco gave you better news then that blankity, blank (fill in the blanks) other Dr.
Noelle - I too was thinking of Dana the other day. Why did mets make you think of her? She didn't get re-Dx did she?
Will try to get back when grandson goes to bed.
-
I don't do too bad on jeopardy when they let the celebrities play. The questions are way easier then.
-
Otter - Sounds like a plan because survivors we are, but you'd have to leave me out. All though I bared my chemo head on ABC I don't think I would want to let the world see me without my dentures. OFLMAO!
-
Happy Birthday Roxi!!! Hope you are having a wonderful day!!
Your funny Otter!! I got a chuckle out of the Survivor comment.
RanD - Hoping you had a good day today! Thinking about you and all of the other amazing women in our May 08 group!
Met with the pulmonary doc again today. The second phase of my reconstruction has been postponed until I finish the meds, a final CT scan is done, etc. I am feeling better already - have more energy than I have had in a long time. That I will take and be grateful for.
Love to you all!
Jean
-
Dang. I forgot there are two of us dealing with pulmonary issues and pulmonary docs. Jean, I sure hope your meds are resolving that rad-induced inflammation and scarring. It's always something!
We just got DISH Network, having switched from DirecTV because DISH provides our local channels and DirecTV does not. (It's a long story--I started to explain it here, but gave up.) Anyway, we've never had DVR or Tivo before. My dh is like a kid in a candy store, messing around with the DVR to skip commercials etc.
Time for supper. Talk to y'all later! (Either here or on FB.)
otter
-
Otter - That was a good one...lol...
Roxi - Sent you a little somethin' on FB - did you get it?
I'm doing the single mom thing tonight because dh is away, although, he works nights so he isn't here most other nights, either. Oh, well. Just seems longer tonight. Gotta go help the 9 y.o. who can't seem to find her pajamas. BTW - click on the link to "The Mom Song" on my FB page, you'll all love it!
-
Otter~ next weekend we are switching from directv to at&t uverse. It turned out to be more channels and $50 cheaper a month... plus super uber fast internet! zooooom! We have a dvr now and the uverse comes with one that records 4 channels at once and will play them on any tv in the house! Like I need more tv to watch.
Survivor.... there's no way I would make it a day on that show. I use too much handlotion. But if ya'll all went on it, I'd swing by for a visit cause I'd want to see karin gum a coconut <snicker>
Why is it when you think we get ahead something happens? Got our fed refund today.... my car broke down this evening. The computer needs reset in the darn thing because we replaced the steering column last year and its not reading the security code on the keys correctly. Got in it tonight to go out to eat and it wouldn't start. We went to have dinner in the truck and came back and it started. On the plus side, we have the money to fix it. Just wish I didn't have to spend it on fixing a car.
Happy Birthday Roxi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Karin, Eyes0Tex does have mets. Here is a post of hers from July:
She has not posted since October.
" i am on Gemzar/Cisplatin for triple negative mets to intramammary, supraclavicular, and posterior clavicular nodes. PET last wed. showed shrinkage so onc is giving me more than originally planned. i pray it will work as well for you, and hope it will continue to work for me"
RanD, hope today was good.

Julie.. ok to exfoliate hands. Use brown sugar and cooking oil in a pinch. Use rubber gloves to wash dishes honey!

I had gone back to look at posts from the beginning of our May group and have discovered many have come and gone (post-wise). Eyes was one and I'm so very sad to see she has stopped posting since the post you found Noelle.
-
EyesOTex...noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
i have to pack people. just popping in to say you guys ARE helping me pack, right? You're gonna be there tonight in my new apartment which I realized when I got the keys yesterday has absolutely CRAP security and a lock that would fall out of the door if you gave it a dirty look? You're gonna help me redecorate it into a different color scheme (rust and aqua...)? I appreciated your help yesterday as I found my way back to the Trevoyan (where I"m staying) without aid of a map.
Love you. Love you and thinking of you heaps and loads.
-
Adrienne~ funny you posted about going back thru the old posts. I was doing the same thing last night. The tones people used to post with have changed so much since the beginning. :O)
Rock~ can you hand me those socks? Oh and that shirt will fit over here as well. And I brought paint! how do you feel about taupe with white trim?
-
The saying "Great minds think alike" must be true---yesterday I went back through the old posts--we sure have been through a lot and we made it!
Nothing exciting here, trying to get out of this "mood". Have you all seen the thread in the "Commemorating Loved Ones" forum about Alaska Deb and sending emails to the President? What do you think?
-
RanD,
So sorry I wasn't here during the week to start the shovel brigade against yet another a$$hole doctor who thinks he's God...but it looks like you guys did okay without me (Thanks Cris)...so glad you got better news from your onc. One thing I heard once is that we don't have expiration dates printed on our bodies, and NO doctor can tell you how long you are going to live...what a RIDICULOUS idea!!! I also believe in signsand wonders, and I believe that was a significant sign to see those words on the screen, especially after giving this all to God. And no, not too preachy. You say what you need to say, always.
It's harder to post during the work week for me, but I still usually read--this week I worked so much I didn't even have time to do that. But I am having fun out there, and I only have 60 days until retirement!!! I went and put in my retirement paperwork,, I am SO EXCITED!!!!
Love you all,
Sue
-
I've been looking back through different posts, too. I think part of it is because of the passing of Alaska Deb. I'm at my one year anniversary for when this all started and it's hard not to think about what I was doing/going through last year this time. Yesterday I had my annual exam. We did blood work to check my hormone status and Vitamin D.
Roxi - how was your birthday? Did you have a nice evening out?
Rock - would be glad to help you decorate. Just give me a brush with any color of paint that you'd like.
RanD - glad that you are able to put some normal activities into your day. It sounds rough, but we know you can do it and we will be with you all the way!
Noelle - thanks for the advice. I just need to have the 13 year old do the dishes!
Sue - I'm so excited for your retirement. You've worked hard for that. When is your last day?
I wouldn't do well at Survivor, but wouldn't mind going somewhere warm. Everyone have a nice weekend!
Julie
-
Woo Hoo! It is 36 degrees here in MN today and it feels like a heat wave! I went out for an easy morning run and had the best run since post chemo (2 months) . . . the new drugs seem to agree with me.
I also found myself going back though the early posts . . . ironic that we were all thinking / doing that.
Sue - That is so exciting . . . . 60 days and counting!
Rock - What do you think about Latte walls with white trim? When I retire, I want to get a job creating names for paint colors. Simply drink a couple of cosmos and let the naming begin! Mmmm , a cosmo sounds good!
Hugs to all!
Jean
-
me, old posts too!!!
Crazy!
The April thread has gained a little new life of late.. and some are on FB too. I just cannot work out who everyone is yet with their real names!!
I plan to read April and May and from the beginning someday and The Road to Hell!
Expiry dates HA!
My stepdad was given a month and lasted 14 months. My mom was given a few months and lasted 5 years. Both of them Mets with very rare cancers!!!!
Rocko... u and the girls were with me on the snowshoe trail with me yesterday...
of to make bath bombs and not looking forward to it...
xoN
-
Gracie - I will have to go find that thread...
Sue - Glad to see you, as always. And no prob, being the back-up shoveler! The retirement's a-comin'!
Rock - What do you need, sweetie? I'll be over shortly in my old jean and sweatshirt...
Julie - Our diagnosis dates are one day apart. But I assume the "anniversary" you're referring to is not that one. My "lump discovery" anniversary is the last day in February. Ick.
Noelle - I wonder about Dana, too. I know there were more of us in the summer when I was tracking chemo schedules...
RanD - Thinking about you...thinking about you...thinking about you...
-
Just visited the thread Gracie mentioned. They are mounting an email campaign around AlaskaDeb's death to raise the issue for a CURE. Not a new chemo or treatment or clinical trial. There is also a Facebook page dedicated to this, search for ATributeto Angels (had to be a first and last name). I'm going to join.
-
Went back to the hospital yesterday, but they decided to wait untl Monday and Tuesday to tap, giving me the most relief before chemo....It is a real bitch to breathe, but I am pretty sure I can hang in until Monday...I will bein there at 8 am! I am trying to take it easy, but what a pain when you can barely walk to the bathroom without being winded! Found vicodin helps, just because it makes me less stressed and then I don;t focus on how winded I am....
Docs warned me to stay away tomorrow since Super Bowl Sunday is not a good er day. I figure that if I can't breathe, they can give me some oxygen and at least I will be comfie.
Tomorrow is Ab's 11th bday. Thank goodness my mom is here and is taking care of that with dh...there is no way I could handle it...
thanks for all the wonderful notes..put them around the computer and then you are all with me!!!
ran
-
ranD - so good to see you post. You are always in my thoughts. I'm glad the vicodin helps. You do what you can to get through the weekend. I can understand what they mean about Super Bowl Sunday not being a good day at the hospital.
-
RanD, RanD,
Sweet as candy (or "intoxicating as brandy"?)
Hope her superbowl weekend
Is spent feeling dandy.
**************************
I will admit this here and nowhere else. Women, within 2 hours of moving into my new flat, I had locked myself out of it. I forgot to take the key with the "disk" which is to be waved in front of the front door to unlock it. Fortunately, two grocery store employees were taking a smoke break and took pity on me and tracked down Gabriel who does some security for the area. He also told me how I could access the building via the parking garage. Which is great except that if I can gain access to teh building that way, then so can 1000 or so other people. Sigh.
Thanks for the offer of paintin', women. And you kicked ass on the unpackin'.
-
just learned that a very very dear friend has had four masses biopsied. she'll get the results tomorrow. i sat in an internet cafe with tears streaming down my face. she was one of the last people i saw before i left. she came with me to some of the early gene counseling + nutritionist appointments. right before i left, i passed on my Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book to her.
honest to god, i'd rather have cancer again then see her have it. but the world doesn't fecking work that way.
-
For those that didn't see it on FB yet here is a link to a news clip about our friend Deb
While on FB I sent out friend suggestions to all of you that did not find it yet, for her tribute page.
-
Very nice story about Deb. Wish I had known about the rose thing sooner...
Rock - Oh, my. Sending you a big hug, my friend. ((((((((Rock)))))))
RanD - Can't imagine that. The closest I can come is when my asthma kicks in, usually due to a cold or flu. Hope you have a quiet, relaxing day!!
-
Stay tuned. Rock has a plan. Looks like I beat her here before she posted it, LOL
-
ranD - lay back in the recliner today and relax if it helps you to breath better staying still, and let your mom and dh take care of the birthday celebration.
-
I know what Ran is going through. Take it easy my love, let the family take care of you! Happy 11th Ab!
Sorry I missed the rose campaign for Deb, cannot get her off my mind tho.
Hi to everyone.. I was out dancing last night with a girlfriend.. had a great time, but did not get to bed until 4.. I am wiped now. Deb's death gutted me and I did not sleep much all week and really sunk my ship by being out so late.
I have to finish the bath cupcakes for a newspaper spread this afternoon and feel like crap.
Lunch, nap, work.
Love to all!
