I thought Steele would be a shoe-in for that position.  Though I'd rather see him in the Senate where he could do a lot of good.  Let's see if the RNC gets some new ideas now that Michael is there.  They need to start now looking for candidates and get us jump started and excited for the 2010 election.

Flyrzan, glad you enjoyed the cartoons.  I'm going out tomorrow and get me some of them collectibles.  Then I'm going to order those pretty coins I've seen on TV.  Gonna charge them on my credit card cuz I can't afford them.  Anyways, I'll be helping out the economy!  Laughing

    Laura,

I know it's extremely hard to keep a news station on when they're talking about the "Plan".  We'll need to take elixirs of some kind for all types of ailments while they spend, spend, spend.

My first car was a '52 pontiac tank of some kind, dark ugly green with bad tires.  I bought it for $50 in 1964.  I wish I kept it.  Any of these cars today would bounce off of that car if it was hit.

Cavuto has a dem on today.  I'm so tired of them spinning this bailout crap.  He asks tough questions and the dem just keeps spinning.  After a while you'll get dizzy.  Geez!

Did you hear that Obama has offered a republican senator the Secretary of Commerce job?  I think it was Secretary of Commerce. The senator said he's in the "mix."  If he's offered the job I hope he turns it down OR the republicans will lose their filibuster.  I think this is a political move on Obama's part.  Call me cynical!

Is this a private section or can anyone ask a question?????

Just checking in case I have a question about Republican stuff. I think I intruded on a section somewhere else, so I wouldn't want to break in now and then wiht my question. I seem to have caught political fever since I returned to work.

No questions now, just that one ....

Jader, of course we accept questions.  Just ask.  And you're welcome here anytime.  RIGHT, GIRLS!  And of course it's not private or it would be locked.  You'd have to have a password to get in.

Glad to hear you returned to work.  So many people are losing their jobs.

Just jumping in to say I've called my congressman (Dem) yesterday and wrote my 2 senators (both Dem) today.   I just can't sit idly by and listen to all of this.  I know it probably won't do any good since they're all Democrats but somehow it makes me feel better - like I'm doing something!!

    Go gals, go!!!

    Hi Pat,

Yes, it is doing something.  My writing my repub Senators and congressman doesn't do much.  They already know we're behind them in this fight to get package "real".  The dems really need to hear from us.

Hi Jader it's nice to see new people here.

No sorry Laura - doesn't look like it is repeated.  It was hysterical - they were doing a segment "where in the world is Chris Dodd's mortage" to that music from I think the Today show. It was very funny and they played it over and over.  I'm really enjoying Glenn Beck's show.

It might be on the net at fox news after the show is over.  Usually by tomorrow.  I'm taking a day off from watching TV so I don't have to take my pulse so often.

    I found it for ya:

I love it, a muscle car forum....now in my element.  Laura...if you are going to give away body parts for a pink mustang, go for the correct one.   The pink 1965 Shelby mustang convertible.  There were only 5  '65 Shelby convertibles made...in pastels, one was pink....No idea of value now, estimated well in 7 figures.

This channel is going to do a story on Alaska Deb tonight.  I was just reading the other thread where I think Gina told everyone Deb's last moments.  It's so heart rendering, but at the same time wonderful to know she's free of this miserable disease.

Wow, I will be hoping they put it online so we can all see it.  I think AK is about an hour behind Pacific Time.

I had a 66 Mustang, 289 ... it had a black vinyl top, yellow car, with black Pony interior!  I loved that car!!!!!

It looks like a number of influential Senate Democrats in the Finance Comittee have issues with the "stimilus" package. So there is hope for us,

I forgot the name of the Democrat Senator they had on CNBC today, but he said that he talked to a number of Democrats who were very concerned about the proposal. I am also starting to see mainstream media showing some kind of restrained critisim of Obama's plan.

I just heard that Daschle , Obama's Health Secretary nominee,  had to pay $100K in back taxes. Is that what Obama meant by change ? On the other hand it's one way of Treasure getting more money: all these Obama's nominee's paying upSmile

The Beck video was hilarious ... and I'm a dem.

I used to watch him all the time when he was on the other network.  I wondered where he went.

There's a five hour difference from the east coast time zone to Deb's.

    Photobucket"

Obama has asked the joint chiefs of staff to cut the defense budget by over 10%.   So no problem wasting hundred of millions on fish barriers and bee insurance, but at a time of 2 wars and a worldwide threat, cut the funding out from under the troops.

Ya know, I just don't know if I can get through these first 100 days of Obama's presidency.  He's so full of talk, talk, and more talk.  He keeps his office warm.sure would like to know what his thermostat is on.  He's back peddled (lied) about lobbyist in high places.  Now this "middle class what-ever-it-is) supposedly being headed up by Biden..what the heck!  It can't be anything important because he wouldn't dare put Biden in a rold where he'd be exposed too much.  Afterall, the man cannot keep his mouth shut..the gaffe machine.

I don't think this president even peeked at the "stimulus wreckage."  What are these dems (Pelosi et al) thinking?

I should turn my TV off for another..how many days until Obama's 100 days are over with?

    Shirley,

I think we NEED Obama to get us back in shape. He is like a bitter medicine that one must take in order to get better. Already we are seeing House Republicans developing a spine and voting unanimously against the bill. Republican party is getting tough and hopefully with Steele's at the helm, they will be less likely to "reach across the aisle". People need to see how bad it can get when the true liberals get the power so that they will be cured of their desire for that elusive Wohooooooo "hope and change" with no substance. I got to confess I myself was somewhat more accepting and hopeful right after elections. Well I got over it and I hope every day more and more Americans are waking up to this.

Sherri, his name is Judd Gregg from New Hampshire.

ilj, I agree.  We repubs need slapping around a bit to wake us up.  If this bailout doesn't wake us up then NOTHING will.  And I hope the Senator doesn't take the offer if it's offered to him.

Okie dokie, here's my rant again.

We were asked earlier by a poster what happened.  Here's some interesting videos that the MSM never reported on.  All of this sub-prime mess was blamed on Bush and the Republicans.  Uh-uh...NOT SO!  Out of the mouths of dems.   Very interesting video.

YouTube - EVIDENCE FOUND!!! Clinton administration's "BANK AFFIRMATIVE ACTION" They forced banks to make BAD LOANS and ACORN ..

YouTube - Shocking Video Unearthed Democrats in their own words Covering up the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac Scam that caused our ..

Democrats in their own words Covering up the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac Scam that caused our Economic Crisis.

At a 2004 hearing see Democrat after Democrat covering up and attacking the regulations to protect Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (their Cash Cows) that are now destroying our economy because the Democrats let them cheat.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

YouTube - Timeline shows Bush, McCain warning Dems of financial mess

Bush warned in 2001.   Barney Franks here in 2003 says Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not in a a crises. He said that the federal government should be encouraging Freddie and Fannie to do more to get low income families into home and he believe that to many people had a "sky is falling" mentality.

Greenspan warns "....Enabling these institutions to increase in size - and they will once in the crisis in their judgment passes - we are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk."   And Greenspan says at a later time. "If we fail to strengthen GSE regulation we increase the possibility of insolvency in crisis."

Want another quote that's on this video?  Well you're getting it anyway.

Senator Charles Schumer:  "...I think Freddie and Fannie over the years have done an incredibly good job and are an intrinsic part of making America the best-housed people in the world.....If you look over the last 20 or whatever years, they've done a very, very good job."   Want another quote?  Well you're getting it anyway.   John McCain in 2006:  "For years I've been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac....and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market -- the GSE's need to be reformed WITHOUT DELAY.

And for your entertainment.  Does Barney need some teeth?

I thought they were still counting.  Coleman has a court case pending because the outcome didn't make any sense.  There was duplication of counting some where along the line. Unless one of them gives in, and I don't think that will happen, it will be months before this is a done deal.

It was funny, but Reid was telling Coleman to give in on the first day the Senate came back this year.  Giving him this long lecture of how it's better to give it up.   I wonder if Coleman was on top by 250 votes would Reid had asked Franken to give it up?  Then our minority leader got to the mic and said a States' election will not be determined on the floor of the Senate.
