onward and upward ladies - keep the positive light on here and all around your world, i am moving on but not without saying what an honor and pleasure it was to share the election of PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA with all of you lovely ladies. we did it. WE WON! Hope has replaced fear and a better day for our country is coming, of this i am sure....

can't go without a
little gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg we baracked the vote...:)
and a big wwwwoooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Maddy- you're right about this thread, We've got other options for discussing these issues where trolls won't come to cause trouble`. We know there are better, safer troll free places where we can post. I don't think any of us wanted to convince anyone else of anything, we just wanted a place, not for debate, but where we can share our positivity for Obama and frustrations about the other side.
Traceyz- Rush is a hateful awful person. That some people try to justify his hate does not surprise me. People who are suspended for being hateful come back with different names, continuing the same behavior that got them suspended slipping through the cracks. If you or other true Obama supporters still want to continue this thread in a better place, PM me and I'll give you the link (as long as you promise not to share it). Let those who disbelieve the positive impact on society, the importance of looking out for more than number one, who scorn those less fortunate than themselves, who do not walk the walk of wanting a diverse society with equal rights and who do not advocate civil rights have their free for all. Responding to them is inviting negativity. The cannon take away the wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo and that pisses some people off.
We got our president, the one we desperately needed after the long national nightmare of the past 8 years; That's what is important.
-
Laura.......Yes We Did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WoooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Obama '09....Hope Has Arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yes,
This thread was vital to my enjoyment of sticking it to the non-believers! Wooooooooo-hooooooooo!!
We did it!! Yes we did--to all the great supportive positive thinking Obama fans on this thread, I salute all of you.
To the negativity and anger and nastiness, I am retiring that mess to the corner for naughty time--hopefully for a very long, long time--like at least 8 years. And then we will find someone else just as wonderful as our new leader and put them in for another 8 years.
the Negatives score -10
The Positives score infinity And we scored NO FOULS.
We won!!! Ha ha ha! Bwahahaha! We are doing the happy dance!
Hey Hey goodbye, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey hey GOODBYE!!!!!
See you elsewhere Obama Ladies!! We are a class act!! (so glad we didn't sink to any republican's' levels--Rush can spew all he wants--he affects us not)
We kept our cool--and stayed way cool!! We are behind Obama 100% and believe in change--oh yeah--change is HERE!!! Woooooooooooo-hoooooooooooo!!
-
Yep, mission accomplished.... change is here. One more for the road. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Hi all you wonderful women! Tuesday was SO-O-O-O-O beautiful!
I just pray that most of the country doesn't sit back grudgingly, judgingly, foot-draggingly, obstructionist -- as Newt Gingrich and Ken Starr were to Bill Clinton. Of course, even then, BC's administration managed to leave this country in great economic shape...
Praying that most of the nation will be putting its shoulder to the wheel!
Reminds me of a favorite line of poetry, from Allan Ginsberg (in the 1950s, no less!):
"America, I'm putting my queer shoulder to the wheel..."

-
I'm in favor of keeping this as an update thread. Some of us don't always have time to watch the news. We can track all the good things President Obama has done for the day. He's already done more good in the few day's he's been in there, then the entire 8 years of Bush! It will only get better!!
Have a great w/e Obama Ladies!!

laura,
I can't help myself. You do remember what happened after we saw "Mission accomplished" slogan last time

yes ilj, isn't it amazing how two words can be a thorn in the side for millions of americans, a mistake for one american and then take on a wonderful new meaning!

Back in the saddle this morning for President Obama!
Before signing three Exec Orders today, Pres Obama reminded us of the economic mess he inherited by reading off an ever-growing list of corps who have announced layoffs - this morning HD announced it will cut 7,000 jobs.
One EO signed today directs the EPA to grant a waiver for states to allow them to set their own standards for emissions - CA requested this months ago; the previous administration turned the request down...another EO calls for automakers to increase their fuel efficiency.
Per CNBC, GM has scheduled extra downtime at 14 plants - nobody's buying; on-going job losses continues to impact autos. -
Dear Community Members,
We would like to propose closing the political threads due to the negative climate that they have brought to the boards. Politics are tough in this kind of open forum.
We would like to suggest an "economic update" thread to break the barriers. We are posting this is in the other political thread(s) as well before deleting.
Many thanks for your feedback/understanding.

Dear Moderators: Can you "lock" these threads, rather than delete? There is a great deal of evidence of friendship among the members within each group, as well as a great deal of information about supplements/hormones/therapies within the Republican thread in particular. I don't think the good history of these conversations should be taken away from their participants. (Much of the "unpleasantness" has already been deleted anyway!)
just my 2 cents...
-
I agree with Ann and/or Sherri G.
It has been stated time and again, if a thread or poster is not to your liking ... don't read it!
I read these two threads, but rarely post on either of them anymore. There is plenty of good information in both threads.
What is missing is respect for others views and posting respectfully about our political leaders.
Freedom of speech comes with an enormous responsibility.
The "report this comment" button should be removed from this site altogether.
-
laura,
you missed my point completely. I was suggesting that it took some time before we've realized that Mission was far from being accomplished. So let's revew it in a year.
-
I would love to see the political threads taken down. There are other forums for that sort of discussion. I try to avoid them -- even though I am a politically active person -- but every once in a while I will see a post that infuriates me from someone I got along with and admired when we were just talking bc. We keep losing good women over this.
-
I see Madalyn's point, and MOTC's, and BethNY's on another thread. The point about there being other forums for political discussion, to keep this a "safe haven" for BC support, is one I myself made early on in the primary season, and I have certainly "held my tongue" about politics here, myself...
I still feel like it would be sad to erase all the evidence of our happiness about this historic election...
oh well...
my own suspicion is that we lose good women over "childish things" that develop even on the most innocent-seeming threads, and that elimination of discussion of politics won't eliminate these problems...
but that's just my opinion, and I defer to the opinions of others who are more involved.
Anyway, I don't want to forget TraceyZ's "WOOOHOOOO's"
and I won't!!!!!!

Tami and Melissa - I would like to thank you for reinstating five of my seven posts deleted by the community on Saturday. I am thankful that this did not happen to me two years ago when the bco boards were my lifeline, I would have been devastated.
It remains unclear to me how "the community" can delete seven posts in the matter of hours, two weeks after they were posted resulting in a ban for our wonderful bco sister, djd. Donna has travelled the world and country meeting bco sisters, she has represented her bco sisters at funerals for lost sisters, she has offered support and information to many, she is a tremendous loss to bco.And Amy, the woman that started this board, refusing to respond to personal attacks, became an easy target. It is no wonder that Felicia and others are choosing to leave instead of standing by to both watch and recieve the enduring name calling and thinly veiled personal attacks.
Many people believe that when they write something on a message board, they are truly "anonymous" and have a free pass to say anything they want.
People who post false statements about someone else on a website are often surprised when they learn they can be sued for defamation. To state a defamation claim, the person claiming defamation need not be mentioned by name - the plaintiff only needs to be reasonably identifiable and accused of a crime like making false disability claims. For over a month the following post remains on the Respectfully Republican Thread, the post has been reported to you, yet it remains.

The Respectfully Republican Conversation
So I am new here and I am amazed at what I am reading between this thread and the Obama - democrat thread. Wow! I am a bit confused as there seems to be a common theme with democrats called "entitlement". They, of course, do not use this word, but it is painfully obvious many of them feel that the government should "take care of them".
I dont know about everyone else, but looking at how the government has taken care of what it has control over, I shudder to think if I wanted them to "take care of me" too! I am of course referring to mortgages and bailouts and bankruptcies, etc.
There is one lady who I think started the thread who definately is "milking" the government! She said she has fibromyalgia and because of it. she cannot work and is on disability! I have never in my life heard of anyone getting disability for fibromyaglia! I belong to a LARGE fibro support group (yep, I too have fibromyalgia) and I was sharing her "story" with them at the last meeting (there are about 75 - 100 average attendance and 2 pain mgnt doctors) and NONE have heard of anyone getting disablility for fibro, nor would any WANT disability for it.
The thing we all know and understand (it isn't rocket science, but perhaps the poor girl was "too sick" to go to school too...) ) is that the WORST thing someone who has fibromyalgia can do, is to do nothing!!!! Exercise is KEY to pain management. Laying around collecting a government check is NOT the way to handle this dibilitating disease. Now CHEMO deserves temporary disability, but not fibro!
As a woman, who has endured the pain of fibromyalgia for 6 years AND CONTINUES TO WORK FULLTIME, I am so offended to see democrats boast of their "disability"! I have pain 24/7, I see pain specialists, I have done trigger point injections, accupuncture, muscle relaxers, Lyrica, Neurontin, massage therapy, chiropractors, physical therapy, theraputic whirlpools, muscle stimulators, TENS units, bio-feedback, anti-depressants, facet injections, 2 epidurals and one denervation, and NOT ONCE would I have ever run down to the government office and tell them I hurt too much to work.
That is a COP OUT and sorry if this offends anyone, but I got so furious reading how that girl on the democrat thread has been bleeding MY paycheck for HER "disability"!!!!!! If she would get off her A$$ and WORK, she might could keep her mind off the pain.
Exersice and my TENS unit are the only things that give me relief. If I can exercise, if I can go SHOPPING, if I can go on vacation, clean my house, cook my food, wash my clothes, I can CERTAINLY work!!!!!!!
Whew- I fill better now!!!!
..................................................................This is beyond unacceptable. Clearly you do not have the time or inclination to monitor these boards appropriately. I seriously recommend taking them down.
Respectfully, laurap
-
I would be delighted to see these boards removed.
-
LauraP, I hadn't been on the board much at all in December, so I missed that post -- but it certainly is the kind of thing that should have been removed quickly.
-
Donna was banned? Wha?
-
And over on the Republican thread they are blaming Democrats for the idea floated by the moderators to take down the political threads. This just proves the point, that these threads are unnecessarily divisive. I think if women want to have private discussions about politics they should start their own listserv. Its not difficult to do. The mission here is clear, to support each other in our struggles before, during and after breast cancer. The political threads only detract from that.
So I join Iodine. Please take down these threads.
-
Gee, I guess these posts had nothing at all to do with the moderators getting the idea to shut down the political threads...it just happened in a vacuum, right?
From this thread:
Madalyn wrote:
My fellow Obama fans ... do you think maybe it's time we considered shutting down this thread?
The election is over ... we have won ... whoooooooo hooooooooo (to quote Tracey). We don't need to convince anybody of anything.
We seem to be a magnet for those who want to fuss and argue and my patience has worn out. This Jr. High crap is a horrible combination of annoying and boring. So ... what do you think? Should we start cleaning up the room, gather our belongings, turn out the lights and lock the door behind us?

Tuesday was amazing. To see so many people come together peacefully for a common purpose was astonishing. I wouldn't have believed such a thing could happen if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. It reminded me of the Obama rally in Philly, but on a much larger scale. So different from the Republican rallies we all saw excerpted on TV and the internet.
There's no need to continue our debate on this thread because, well, we WON, and now we have work to do. Let's look forward, not back. Let's surround ourselves with positive people with whom we share a common purpose.
So as my brother said on Obama-eve, "here's to the end of tyranny and the return of freedom." I raise my glass to all of you!
And from Felicia's Good-Bye Thread:
21 hours ago BethNY wrote:
Apparently it all has ties to the political threads, which I think if the mods were smart they would remove all of the threads having anything to do with politics, b/c all it does is cause rifts between folks.
I thought once the election was over things would calm down, but apparently is hasn't stopped, and people are deleting posts that don't violate BCO conduct rules, which then sets off everyone else in turn.
Can't we all just get along?

I am still sizzling, what on earth has the political goings on got to do with bc anyway ??
This is a bc support group. Occasionally we step out and go off topic, but these threads have a life of their own, there are some very smart (well in their own opinion !) people shouting at the top of their voices, drowning out anyone elses comments. THEY are right...sit down and shut up, and listen to me..... that was what I got when I looked in on this thread. Maybe one young lady in particular should have run for president, she was so much in the business of trying to instil her ideas on others..
Perhaps they should bog off and start their own boards, and stop creating on this board. Maybe 2 or 3 of these people should be banned for good for causing so much trouble and upset to people on here, who in some cases are fighting for their lives.....keep politics light...this is a bc support group.
Isabella.
