I am going to buy this book "Breakthrough"  Vivre.  I am all for slowing the aging process, and the more the aging process is slowed the healthier a person can be.  Although I know some pretty healthy 80 year olds.

Vivre.....I was thinking that it is so unlike you to get off the 'republican' mind set here. But it's refreshing to get off of the "O" subject for a while. You need to keep the energy for the 4 day inauguration coming up. UGH!

I think I need to ask Suzanne Somers to start giving me commission! I got one of my best friends to read it and she was so happy she wrote me the nicest thank you note I have ever received. She has been seeing doctors for 2 years, and getting worse on all the drugs. She said, after reading Breakthrough, everything makes sense. I now have her going to my holistic chiro and she feels that at least someone is going to help her.

Here is something really dumb that I did today. I have been thinking about juicing for quite a while and finally broke down and bought myself one. So I got it our for a juice lunch and started adding all this great stuff and juicing away. I noticed that the thing was filling with pulp, but I could not figure out where the juice was going. Well, I was supposed to put a glass on the back, which I did not do(next time read the directions). All the juice was going onto the countertop. I was so busy looking at the front of the machine, I did not check the back! I guess I do not qualify for MENSA!

Sherri, Remember Obama has all those Clintonites on board now, they have perfected the art of spin. Obama will follow Bush's policies because that is how we have remained terrorist free for 7 years. He will spin it and give one of his great speeches to sell it, the press will eat it up, and nothing will change. That is actually a good thing. It is the Change thing about Bama that really worries me.

    Vivre,

We did this whole workup here on using progesterone cream here on the boards a couple of years ago.  I found something that concerned me about it, but darn if I can remember it now.  Well the outcome was not to use progesterone cream, at least for me.  It really got detailed.  When we all band together to find out things, boy we're good.  If your thinking of using the cream you'll have to really look deep into what progesterone does.  At first glance it looks good, then it doesn't.  Really helpful aren't I?

We wouldn't be women if we didn't have 3 or 4 subjects going on at the same time.

I'm trying to post since I can only post five a day.  My posts must have really been on the number one HIT list..Hit "report this post."  LOL  So, so funny because I never had much of a chance to hit the report button except one time for Blaest the real troll.  But at least I AM POPULAR.

Now, since I can only post five post in a 24 hour period, this may be a bit long.  I need to talk to Herbie.

IBC, I couldn't tell you on this board YESTERDAY how happy I am with Cam's scans.....NED, Yea!  And, she'll be dancing with him instead of you if your not careful!

I agree with Vivre.  You have such talent.  You are sensitive (rare for a REAL man!).  You are insightful.  You support women in this cause.....breast cancer.  Unfortunately your wife had to join this club and that definitely is not a good thing.  Not many husband's will do what you have done and continue to do and WILL continue to do.  I don't give a FLIP about your IQ (however, I think it's cool that I know some very smart people and they don't judge me for not reaching their level of "smarts")..LOL  I care about your heart.  What I see is a kind heart..a loving heart....a caring heart for all women who have been chosen to travel this journey no matter what political affiliation they choose.  You have the GREATEST SENSE OF HUMOR even though you and Cam are going through difficult times. You're not afraid to let us know just how much Cam means to you...she is the beat of your heart...the fresh air you breathe into your lungs...the blood that runs in your veins.....and the LOVE OF YOUR LIFE!    Not many men know how to love a woman like you do.  I so respect you!

Okay, I can only post five posts so I realize this is long.  But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...RUN HER MOUTH!  (I just had my teeth cleaned..yuck!)

This is my first post for today.   Let's see if it goes through....and one glamor shot of me......

I think I'll now go write a book about all the interesting things I have learned on this board.

    ----------------------------------------------------

About hormones...I was 95% ER+ and 90% PR+.  I was 58 1/2 and post meno (DUH!) when dxd.  I did take HRTs with estrogen and progesterone..was supposed to be bad, bad, bad.  I stopped taking them when the study came out that it was making us have heart attacks, strokes and memory loss.  I never had a hot flast before HRT nor after going off of them COLD TURKEY!  I can't take the chance of putting hormones in my body.  I suppose I'd have to read up on t his more so I could have my onc explain it to me.

I don't have too much to say right now.  I forgot everything I wanted to say earlier.  I did a mini look at the start of both new political threads.  I scanned through th Positive one and the Respectful one.  I'll will look further into this since I have sooooo much time on my hands (can't post but 5 posts in 24 hours..just reminding you why I have so much time).  I noticed right away that the Positive one started turning Negative, and not due to us.  There were others who wanted to know why they didn't answer their questions instead of telling them to go away.  Ours, on the other hand, didn't turn negative..well, I don't know when it started..haven't finished my "research."

My point...we didn't chase people away and tell them they were not welcome to post here UNLESS they kissed the ONE'S ______________.

Let's see if this goes through.

Rosemary, from what I understand, most of the progesterone creams are made from sythetic hormones. That is the culprit, and all studies have shown that synthetics are carcinogenic. The new studies involve natural, plant based hormones. I am still trying to figure it all out, that is why I have opted to not do anything until I understand it all. I am also reading that this it not something one should start on their own, without a doctor looking very closely at hormone levels in the blood or saliva. This means All hormones which include those produced by the ovaries and gonads, adrenals, pituitary etc. It is these hormones that keep our bodies in sync. So here lies the dilemena. How to find a doctor who understands all this cutting edge reseach on hormones to help us regulate it. Not many doctors are up on all this stuff, so we are still out there treading water without a life raft, hoping someone will finally come along and haul us in. It is going to take more people like us, questioning the standard treatments, which do not really work well and have bad side effects, to force doctors to start to look at alternatives. I keep going back to the way it was French women who demanded that their breasts be saved that led to lumpectomies. As the French did more and more of them, with high rates of success, it finally became accepted in the US. Merci beaucoup mes amies! Perhaps, if enough of us start using safer alternatives with good results, the doctors will take them seriously. There are too many people alive today with cancers that doctors said they could not cure, who took their lives in their own hands, adopted very strict diet and supplement protocols and survived their cancers, to not take this seriously. I truly believe that food is either our best medicine or our worst poison.

Just as I always learned as much from my students as I was able to teach them, Doctors may someday realize that they can learn a lot from their patients. The trick is getting them to listen.

Now Maria, are you enjoying the New thread? LOL

Shirley, We missed you today. Glad to see you made good use of your posts. Not all snake bites are lethal.

Okay  I will get off of my soapbox and come back to the real topic here.

Found this about where all the money is coming from for regurgitation day:

    http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/inaug.php

Lots of Hollywood types seem to be chipping in. Surprise! Interesting that I remember a lot of these folks having a fit that Bush was spending 40 mil on his party. Not only are they quiet about bamas 150mil bash, they are contributing big bucks. Those people are the biggest hypocrits on the planet.

Hey Texas girls, who is the "housewife" from Houston donating 50 grand(plus 50 morefrom DH). If housewifes make that much in Houston, I am moving tomorrow!

Oh my Vivre Houston housewife's are dripping in money..........usually oil money but can also be natural gas money and/or refinery money..............we know how to satisfy our menfolk..........you know why our hair is so big........it goes back to the hoop skirts from Scarlett O'Hara days......the bigger your hair the smaller your waist looks..........and Vivre not sure what is up with the Houston housewife contributing 100,000 grand but we don't do anything for free..........she is getting something in return........hmmmmmmm

And by the way I like it when we do discuss other things beside politics......we have all become pretty good friends during this nightmare........opps.......I mean trip and like today I learn some things from Vivre about hormones and since my bc is not estrogen based I never have even given it much thought but see now I have been thinking about it............

    Shirley,

I'm trying to post since I can only post five a day. My posts must have really been on the number one HIT list.

I am sorry to disappoint you but you are only number 2. After my posts about Bush Derangment Syndrome described on O'Reilly show, all of my psosts got deleted and then I was limited to 5 postings and then banned for 2 weeks. I win!

Actually it all happened within 2 hours while I was away from my computer , so when I checked my email , I got all notificattions at once: posts deleted, 5 psosts limint and then a ban.

You would think with all this hoopla and euphoria, they would be more benevolent. We must be really getting under their skin.

I think you don't even need to be a member of Mensa to guess who I am Smile

    Vivre,

I shouldn't have used the cream in my story.  It's the progesterone that needs more looking into.  Natural, synthetic, doesn't matter from what I read.  I wish I could remember more, but I came away saying...ok, not for me...next.

I've heard a little bit about the inauguration details.  Train rides, speeches at the Lincoln memorial... I gave up at that point.  There must be more.  It was like this in Rome, I'm sure. Are we going a bit overboard here?  Hail Caesar everyone.

Oh Rosemary, it's not extravagant, they're riding the train like the common man, not taking a private plane like the auto execs.....

The train leaves 30th St station in Philly tomorrow morning, with a stop in Delaware to pick up Biden & others.  The temperature is currently in the single digits in Philly, and the wind is wicked on those platforms even in "nice" weather. The people who were invited to ride on the train are all invited to the Ball as well, so it will be a very cold start to the 4 day long extravaganza.

At least they are dealing with a train not a motorcade, so as of this evening there weren't any more than the usual street closures in the area.

Back home, after 11 hrs on the road.

Just to be sure, I checked Cam's Woman's Handbook

Page 13, paragraph 3, subsection a clearly states:

Never under any circumstance over compliment a man.  It is a well known fact that testosterone and Ego are synonymous, that any encouragement will only cause the the Ego to expand well beyond the range of human tolerance.  You risk turning a nice man into a total and complete ass.

Personally I like the compliments, but I don't won't any of you getting reported or banned from the great sisterhood of womankind

But good news is I wore a bright green short sleeved knit top with a v-neck but it had strings going across the v part ......  And just so you don't think I am bragging about our heat .. I did get chilly in the lunch room with the air conditioning running full blast.  Really I did.

There's no new thread.  Vivre meant that this is the new thread because we're talking about hormones and not politics.

Pat, it might not seem overboard what they're doing at first glance, but I've read the security for all this costs about $40 million which we are paying for.  There are donations coming in from the private sector for this.  It seems that the very same banks that we bailed out, and are still bailing out, are donating large sums of our money for this event.  I wonder how much the auto makers are donating?

Sheesh, I was hoping to send this thread to page 200, but it will take a few more posts!

It is 1 degree here. Misty the Lab didn't tarry when we went out to deliver the older neighbors' Washington Posts. I am only taking it on Sundays as an act of protest against the blatant bias the past few years. However, this requires watching a lot of new shows and wondering if I am missing local gossip in the Style section.

The entertainment shows are breathlessly reporting on the celebs performing/attending: are these pro bono? I agree about $160M better spent elsewhere, and I think attacking the $$$ spent by the Bushes for upgrades in the White House is silly. They always fuss about the china! When you entertain royalty and heads of state, it's nice to have matching plates and silver!!

The Obamas have chosen the designer who will be working on the Private Quarters, doing the girls' rooms etc. Michael Smith~~~if you are interested in interior design:::::

30th St station is currently awash in a sea of blue with all the added security.

The city of Philadelphia is currently in the process of shutting down libraries and fire stations to deal with it's dire financial situation.  The New Year's Day Mummer's Parade, which is a huge part of the city's identity and a financial boost to the city every year was nearly cancelled because the city couldn't afford the police overtime costs.  They ended up shortening the parade, making the Mummers chip in thousands this year to help cover the cost, and for future parades when there is more than 2 weeks notice, the Mummers will have to pay much much more.

Who is paying for all the additional security today?  Most of the people taking the train didn't stay in Philly hotels last night, didn't eat out in the city last night, are being dropped off in cars and car services that originated in the suburbs and don't pay the city taxes.  The city is making no money on this venture, but it is paying out alot in overtime costs.  There is no "extra" tax money coming into the city, and there isn't even an 'event' where the general public gets to participate, just inconvenience and costs.

I hear you, Pat. We love Philly and the Mummers; bummers!! A shame too about library closings and~~ fire stations??? Not good!!!

Few locals here will dare venture down to the Mall, with the crowds and the cold. We would only add to the chaos, and have trouble getting there as well as returning, which is a shame for people privy to fabulous indoor viewing spots~~~other than their televisions!!

i too am glad you're both home safely.you've been on a long and rocky road.  cam is such a lucky woman to have a loving and supportive husband as you have been.  believe me i know since i have none of that.

sherri, have you noticed that pelosi's eyes actually sparkle with glee when she speaks of all the money they will have to play with.  someone should tell her it's not monopoly money but our kids and grandkids futures she's playing with.  i have no problem with the train ride for the almighty one.  what i do take offense to is all the comparisons (and they are ongoing) to abe lincoln.  the bible, the visit to the memorial, the train ride comparison and on and on and on.  he hasn't even been sworn in so how could these comparisons be made.  no one knows yet what kind of prez he will be so i think it's highly presumptious (spelling).  just saying......

i just don't know how i'm going to keep myself away from all the adoration tuesday.  been housebound since last hosp. visit and all there is for me is my beloved computer and tv (i'm normally a news junkie). yuck i may have to pop a few zofran, lol.
