I highly recommend that you watch Bill O'Reilly's Talking Points that he gave this evening. If you don't watch it tonight you can go to his archives tomorrow. Then, scroll down and watch Dennis Miller....he FERVENTLY thanked Pres Bush for keeping us safe...Thank you Pres Bush...So the dimwits say Pres Bush kept us afraid of terrorism...well, Obama's gonna keep us afraid about the economy.

It's funny how you read one thing over <------------------------- and the interpretation is a bit different with what I found on the rights of gays in the military. Obama is not as clear as the gays want him to be..I dont' think.
Obama to End Military's 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Policy
Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Fox News
WASHINGTON -
President-elect Barack Obama will allow gays to serve openly in the military by overturning the controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy that marred President Clinton's first days in office, according to incoming White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
The startling pronouncement, which could re-open a dormant battle in the culture wars and distract from other elements of Obama's agenda, came during a Gibbs exchange with members of the public who sent in questions that were answered on YouTube.
"Thadeus of Lansing, Mich., asks, 'Is the new administration going to get rid of the "don't ask, don't tell policy?'" said Gibbs, looking into the camera. "Thadeus, you don't hear a politician give a one-word answer much. But it's, 'Yes.'"
The Obama transition team declined to elaborate on that one-word answer when asked by FOX News on Wednesday about a timetable for repealing the policy, which was enacted by Clinton after a protracted public debate. Obama officials also would not explain which lawmakers or Pentagon officials would attempt to repeal "don't ask, don't tell."
Clinton, who initially sought to overturn the longstanding ban on gays in the military, ended up enacting the "don't ask, don't tell" policy as a compromise that made it illegal for commanders to ask about the sexual orientation of service members, who were also barred from announcing they were homosexual. If a service member's homosexuality becomes known anyway, he or she is expelled.
Clinton is widely viewed as having stumbled during his first days in office by getting caught up in the raging controversy, which detracted from the rest of his agenda. It is not yet clear whether Obama would face a similar debacle.
For years, Obama has said he generally opposes the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Last summer, he told a gay magazine he can "reasonbably" see it being repealed. But that was a far cry from Gibbs' unequivocal promise that the policy will indeed be ended.
The gay community is eager for a quick repeal of "don't ask, don't tell," but fears it could be months before the new administration reaches a consensus with lawmakers and the military. Others think Obama could do it quickly, but is leery of the kind of fallout Bill Clinton faced when he tackled the divisive issue.

Shirley please write the song, but after watching American Idol, (I am sure I saw your audition) please please don't sing it.
-
Paulette, that Texas song should be Bush's swan song. LOL
IBC, this ones for you:
The Stars at night, are way too bright
clap, clap, clap, clap
I'm gettin out of Texas!
I'm dreamin of
Takin my Love
And gettin out of Texas!
Sorry, I can't add more verses, that is all the song I know. Continue Paulette?
Shirley, I think all the koolaid drinkers are going to need to be adding a little hard stuff to it to drown their disappointment. My MIL was telling me that my SIL, a die hard DC dem, is having buyers remorse too. She is not happy seeing the Clinton Administration, Phase II.
Ijl, don't you remember how the press went after the Bush commerce nominee(name eludes me), who had hired a mexican nanny? They drove her out of there so fast. Why should this guy get a pass? He should not be telling us to pay our taxes when he has worked the system. We have enough foxes watching the henhouse. They call themselves Congress. Obama new there was problems with this guy weeks ago. That is why he has quietly paying his back taxes (without paying any penalty the way we have to). Yet Obama arrogantly says, he feels he will be approved. I am so sick of the double standards.

Mr IBC
Caught this on another thread about protocols:

Yes! My advice is to trust your instincts. I had inflammatory bc with several lumps. Conventional prognosis didn't make sense for me so I went totally alternative. I did ultrasounds, MRI's PETs because that's what my docs worked from. I suggest you read about hyperthermia coupled with low-dose radiation. I did my treatments at Valley Cancer Institute in LA. Distance seemed daunting at first, but I'm alive and well thanks to those folks. Totally non-invasive, pleasant treatment, takes most insurances. They're on the web at vci.org.
-
Shirley,
I watch Miller on O'Reliey too. I love this guy. I listen to his talk show when running my errands during my lunch. He does not mince his words, does he ?
People on the other thread just can't get off Bush/Cheney subject, can they? So much hate there that is directed at Bush, where can it all go after Jan 20th ? I
Did you notice there are NO DISCUSSIONS of any issues with current cabinet nominations ? They are more concerned with President's dog selection than with his Cabinet selection. It does tell you a lot about their intellectual level. Sherri is right about it.
-
Thank vivre, now you girl can sing.
I've got a different reason for opposing the nominee....anybody that every worked with the IMF should be gone, any body that helped with the Troubled Asset relief non relief but won't tell where the money went plan is disqualified
-
Vivre, I asked about hyperthermia..I go to Duke. They had done some experiments or whatever there. My then onc (he moved..I still miss him) didn't seem to think much about it..said he had seen some bad burns. So, who knows..politicians..medicine....both offer CONFUSION. LOL

-
ijl, O'Reilly was really good tonight. And so was Dennis Miller.
I think they..over <-------------------------------------...should worry more about what's happening in this economy..in this world...than what kind of dog Obama's gonna get. Geez! And I was called "ignorant" by..I won't mention any names cuz that means I'll be criticizing..but she knows who she is. LOL
I think for some unknown reason I get under their skin so they don't ignore me..LOL
-
HMMMM...I'VE BEEN THINKING THE VERY SAME THING! Only one president?
-
IBC, how did you know that was me on the Idol? I thought I had disguised myself very well. You're good!
-
Vivre, I talked a long time with a great research scientist radiation oncologist today. I ran in to her on the sidewalk and she spent about 20 mins on various treatment options. I had asked her about light treatment, sound treatment and VCI and Cancer Centers of America hyperthermia with concurrent low dose radiation. She also spoke of Duke's trials with Hyperthermia, theirs is different using heat activated chemo. She did not think much of the low dose hyper thing and gave me a bunch of reasons. What she did tell me, if I wanted to spend time researching different treatment, to start learning about the herbal and other natural alternatives, she believes within 10 years, this is where the research and treatment will concentrat on and have the most affect.
-
Shirley,
It was the bikini and flashing house coat that gave you away.

IBC, I am going to start marketing infrared saunas. I have found one that is medically rated. It does not heat your skin like a swedish sauna, it heats the core. Cancer cells die when heated. I am not saying it sounds like a cure, but it is great for detoxing our cells and I think it will at least be helpful. Plus, it is great for all sorts of injuries and pain relief.
I am so glad to hear Cam's onc admitting that herbal and natural treatments may be the way of the future. And I will be so glad when the medical community starts taking them seriously and starts doing studies. I got so tired of fighting with my doctors because I refused to take arimidex. I finally had to dump them and find a new one. I am now working with a chiropractor who monitors my blood levels. I have been taking loads of antioxidants and a supplement called I3C, and after 6 months, my estrogen levels have really dropped. The biggest drop was a hormone binding protein that allows estrogen to bind to cancer cells. This number went from 59 to 11. Another thing that was interesting was that my cholesterol went up a little, even though I am on a really healthy diet and exercise daily. My doc said this seems logical since as estrogen levels go down, cholesterol levels rise. One of the side effects of arimidex is high cholesterol. But my doc is not concerned because my good cholesterol is above normal. Must be all that fish oil. I am hoping that as more women choose alternatives like I have, with good results, maybe we will be taken seriously.

IBC...That is wonderful news from the research scientist you were talking with...I was fortunate to get into MD Anderson and think it is a top notch facility. My stay there on a couple of occasions was amazing. That is one hospital I would reccommend. The last time I was in there upon leaving I got lost and a research scientist from France gave me directions as to where I should have been going but more than this, she walked me to my destination. She was French and we talked a lot about research. It amazed me that she would be discussing her research with me, no pretentiouseness on her part at all...amazing woman.

Perhaps on the day of the inauguration we should discuss alternative/conventional therapy.
Herbie, thanks for telling me what gave away my identity. This time I will be another "costume." Maybe something with feathers.
When I saw my onc PA last time and when I told her I was taking curcumin she said some good reports were coming out about it. Also green tea. And we all know that vit D is a must. My onc was surprised at how low people's D levels were.
I do take Arimidex. I had a 4.5 cm tumor with 5/7 nodes positive. I did neoaduvant chemo and then had a mast. I felt I could not do without the Arimidex. The problem is that physically I'm not having bad SEs. I wonder if it's working.
Okay, need to get ready for the dentist...cleaning day.

Shirley, I take curcumin and am looking into studies on the benefits of iodine. I am ordering a test for iodine from breastcancerchoices.com. Then I am going to take part in this iodine study that shows a lot of promise.
It is a balmy 17 below here today, subtract a bit more for the wind chill. How's the weather in your neck of the woods? Rock, we do NOT need to hear from you on this one. We know is is probably warm and sunny in shake and bake land. No need to rub it in.
-
vivre,
Since you don't want to hear from Rock about the weather, I'll give you the report from my hometown: mid 70s.
But my poor daugther who chose to go to Wash U in St Louis has 10F today. I hope she'll do OK, it is her first real winder .

They say that Obama's inauguration will cost 150M . Bush was criticized for his cost of 500K. Bush was criticized for sending all the money that could feed all the poor people. No such criticism now.
-
And yet the Dems cry to redistribute the wealth ... how insane is the spending??? It will not be brought out that Bush was frugal in his own inauguration but oh, it's ok for $150M to be spent because he is the One. Those 3 letter words are sounding bad ... GMC, One, AIG, FMC,
-
Rock, I am proud of you for your restraint. Now ijl, you did NOT have to take her place! LOL Gee it is 10 in St Louey. Sounds like a heat wave.
Another thing that is not being reported. Bush, ever the gentlemen is declaring DC a national emergency, opening the doors to federal funds for the coronation. He is saying that all the money is going towards security. So he is doing a really nice thing for his successor and the press is silent as usual.
That link to Bighollywood, had a good take on media bias.

My goodness what is Joe Binden doing?.........he has been saying "goodbye" to the Senate for an hour and a half............what in the h**l is he doing?........he is not going anywhere........he becomes President of the Senate.............I really think there is something wrong with him.........I am beginning to think he doesn't want to be VP............I mean I could be wrong but I don't think so.........Shokk
-
We are in a recession/depression and The One is spending 150 million on his coronation. I do remember in 2005 - I think Bush's inaugural cost around 45 million (all raised from private donors) and the MSM was pitching a fit - we were a country at war - they even listed all the things that 45 million could buy - how many Kevlar vests for soldiers, etc. Even suggested that he do what FDR did for one of his inaugurations during WWII and have a few people to the White House for chicken salad sandwiches and plain pound cake. Do you see any of that now? How many homes could be saved from foreclosure with that 150 million? Instead they are saying we "need" to be spending that much money - hypocrites!!!
Shirley - I'm also on Arimidex with few physical side effects and wonder whether it is working.
I do not think that Geithner should be confirmed - he had something to do with Citi Group too - and look where that is at! You and I can make "honest" mistakes but someone with his supposed knowledge should not! I am sure they can find someone in this country who would be more qualified.
Ha ha Shokk - There is something wrong with him!
It is a bone chilling -10 degrees here going up to a high of about -2F! Wind chills down to -40F Brrr! Kids are happy - school today was cancelled.
-
Or...let's take the $150 million and redistribute it!
-
You gals on arimidex. Are you having the hormone levels in your blood tested? Armidex blocks hormones so you should see your estrogen levels really go down. The loss of estrogen is what causes the side effects of the drug. If you have no side effects, you may be in the 40% who do not metabolize the drug and you are taking it for nothing. Just a thought. As I said, I have no side effects using I3C and diet, but I know it has made a difference because my estrogen levels have changed. The good thing about I3C is it does not effect the good estrogen levels at all. What it affects is the hormone binding proteins and the bad estrogens. So my bones and heart will have no ill effects because they need estrogen to function, while the breast cancer cells that are fed by estrogen will have nothing to feed off of. I am sure I am annoying you all with this, but it was worth a shot.LOL

So if all President Bush does is LIE about terrorism...why does the big O need this vehicle? And how much do you suppose it costs? Do you think they like the taste of $$$$?
Secret Service unveils Obama's new limo
You might call it Limo One.
The Secret Service today formally unveiled the new limo that will carry newly sworn President Barack Obama in next Tuesday's inaugural parade, U.S. and presidential flags waving from the hood.
It's another shiny, slightly stretched black Cadillac, this one appearing to have thicker steel and glass than ever. Not much else is being revealed.
"Although many of the vehicle's security enhancements cannot be discussed, it is safe to say that this car's security and coded communications systems make it the most technologically advanced protection vehicle in the world," said Nicholas Trotta, assistant Secret Service director for the Office of Protective Operations.
The announcement comes as no surprise, because industry spy photos of the unpainted car were posted on the web in recent weeks.
For embattled General Motors, which has produced most of the recent presidential limousines, it's a win for a change amid sinking sales and a sea of red ink that has forced the auto giant to seek billions of federal bailout dollars.
GM spokeswoman Joanne Krell said the company is ``awfully honored'' to have been selected as the limo maker again. Producing a new presidential limo is a ritual that is repeated every four years as the Secret Service strives for the perfect shield against terrorists, nut cases or other would-be assassins.
``It's entirely fitting that an American president is in a great American brand," Krell said. "I am really prohibited from actually talking about the safety features of the car. It's built to precise and special specifications. It undergoes extreme testing and development.''
She said the car ``incorporates some of the top aspects of Cadillac's production cars, including signature design and hand cut and sewn interiors, but is not like any single model.
