By the way Sen.Ted Kennedy has Portuguese Water dogs........... They do need more exercise than the Labradoodles. Wonder why Goldendoodles aren't under consideration?

Good grief again! I was just watching more highlights from Bush's presser today. Who can possibly believe that man is sober? He slurs, spits and mispronounces every other word and uses an illiterate style of grammar when responding to questions and acts indignant all at the same time.
He doesn't regret mistakes in his leadership, but he does regret mistakes in photo ops.
Next Tuesday can't get here quickly enough!!!
-
I only heard a bit of the press conference on the radio, and I agree the man is at best, inarticulate. But when he said landing Air Force 1 in Baton Rouge would only have siphoned police from what they should have been doing - well I had to agree with him.
If anybody in the administration had a whit of sense, they would have called ahead, loaded that plane with bottled water, flown in and loaded it up with evacuees and taken off for Washington where Bush would have been seen to be in charge and where the evacuees would have been housed. He might have needed to cut his vacation short, I don't know that his actions made any difference but the visuals were terrible. And his accolades for his woefully incompetent appointee from some old boys school - well that was pathetic.
But who could look back over the last 8 years of their life and say they hadn't made mistakes. Not me. And if I had Chenney and Rove at my elbow telling me what to do (and following their advice), I'd probably not make 24 hours.
-
OK.. I know I have been out of it for a while but Ann Coutler is nothing but a greed monger!! Whatever sells her books!! That is ALL she is about. I can't stand anything about that woman. She has true mental issues and thinks we all should listen to her spout her load of crap. Whatever. I just had to chime in about that since I seen her name on one of the above posts.
We are SO close now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess either breed is going to be a handful, especially a puppy. I can just see the porti having a blast at Camp David, running through the woods and creeks. Hope they can find a rescue pup, but wouldn't be surprised if they end up with a breeder.
Bush appears desperate to change people's perceptions of him, even while claiming he doesn't care. We do have to give him props for not letting Israel bomb Iran, though. He finally got one right!
Joe the War Correspondent--what a hoot that guy is. Everything that came out of his mouth--from his "gee I don't know what to ask" to "I don't think journalists should report on war"--was a gem. I'm sure the Israelis are wishing he'd go home already.
Here's a ten-year-old-boy who puts Joe to shame. He's the real deal, and unlike Joe, is very cute:

Bush's press conference would make a great SNL skit. He is so out of touch. His biggest regret was that they didn';t find WMDs--- shouldn't that be a positive thing? It's been well reported that Sadaam was afraid of Iran and exaggerated his capabilities in hopes of staving off attacks from Iran. His interpretation of a "slow" response to hurricane was that it wasn't slow- 30,000 people were lifted from roof tops and "what did you want me to do, fly in during the hurricane and take police away from the people. Uh, W, you coming doesn't equate to government response. Contrary to popular belief, you, soon to be ex president, are not all branches of government.
At least Obama gets it. That's a huge plus.
Joe the tax evading fake plumber and fake war correspondent seems to have gotten his breadth of knowledge from faux news. Enough said.
I am so excited about next week..... how many of us are meeting in chat? Grace you may have to move your puter for the day to be with us!!!!
-
count me in for celebration chat. woooooooooooohoooooooooooo.
listening to hillary as she hits the hill with 16 pages of prepared remarks dealing with all aspects of sos job.
can you imagine mccain considered palin a hillary alternative for voters?
seems mccain was hell bent on following bush with a
tremendous lack of good judgement.
no wmd. ooops
no recession. oops
no information from torture. oops...............................
change is days away. onward and upward.

Why does it seem like Bush is dragging out his farewell tour? His last press conference, his last trip abroad, his last crap in the toilet in the white house... I am quite sure, madalyn, that Bush's "don't let the door slam your ass on the way out" speech will be televised. That might be a good time for a lunch break LOL.
I wish Bush would take Elisabeth Hasselback with him. That woman belongs on faux news where she can kow-tow to the republicans.
In exactly 1 week to the minute, Obama will be our president and my screen name will change again, I'm going to have to keep a box of tissues next to me, because I'll be bawling on and off throughout the day.

Bush is going to have a hard time rewriting the facts about how he made the world a safer place:

Sleeper Bill of the Month: Our Own Truth & Reconciliation Commission
By Elana Schor - January 9, 2009, 3:00PM
Such is the case with H.R. 104, a bill introduced on Tuesday by House judiciary committee chairman John Conyers (D-MI) and nine other lawmakers. The measure would set up a National Commission on Presidential War Powers and Civil Liberties, with subpoena power and a reported budget of around $3 million, to investigate issues ranging from detainee treatment to waterboarding to extraordinary rendition. The panel's members would hail from outside the government and be appointed by the president and congressional leaders of both parties.

War crimes report says White House Rejected All Advice From Government Agencies That Torture Was Illegal
President Bush and his aides repeatedly ignored warnings that their torture plans were illegal from high State Department officials as well as the nation's top uniformed legal officers, the Judge Advocates General of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, a new published report states.
A preliminary Report by the Steering Committee seeking Federal prosecution of American officials "who ordered, authorized, approved or committed war crimes," released January 9th, 2009, says they are guilty of "wholesale" violations of statutes that include Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, the Federal War Crimes Act, the Convention Against Torture, plus numerous other violations of U.S. and international laws.
The Report said prisoners were subjected to savage beatings, sleep deprivation, slow drowning, hanging by chains, being slammed head-first into concrete walls, temperature extremes, food deprivation, burial alive in coffin-like boxes for extended periods, and even threats against their families.
Among other things, the Report charges the General Counsel of the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA), knowingly approved of at least 117 renditions to torture and that such renditions were "personally encouraged by President George W. Bush..."
In addition to President Bush, those named for prosecution by the Steering Committee include:
Vice President Dick Cheney and his former chief of staff and legal counsel David Addington, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and her predecessor Colin Powell, former Attorneys-General John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzales, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and his aide Alice Fisher, former deputy assistant Attorney General; and Tim Flanigan, a deputy White House attorney.http://www.inteldaily.com/news/173/ARTICLE/9231/2009-01-10.html

Who's watching the Hillary confirmation hearings? A republican asked her about religious freedom for Iraqi christians? How come people like him aren't concerned with the religious percecution in the USA. Look what happened with people claiming Obama was Muslim. Colin Powell was the only one who had an adequate answer, "No,I'm christian, but there's nothing wrong with being muslim." No, in the good old USof A it's ok to scorn muslims because a few of them happened to be terrorists. It's not ok to scorn all whites with crew cuts because Timothy McVeigh had one. They are out of touch.
I had a disturbing conversation with my chiropractor today about why it's ok to send people, "barack the magic negro"
. He also thinks he should be able to call blacks the N word if they use it. I asked if he wanted to use the N word and he said no (I would be looking for a new chiropractor or just dealing with the pain if he said yes). I've never heard democrats talk about racial discrimination against whites or any of the things he was posing (me thinks he's definitely republican LOL). I wonder if I moved to a very liberal area if I could avoid 99% of people that think like he and my landlord do.
-
What on earth could Bush tell the nation that he hasn't already said? What is the point of this broadcast beyond trying to create a positive feeling about his presidency? Talk about mission impossible. For someone who claims not to care what critics say about him, he sure spends a lot of time defending himself. While I'm glad he didn't try to blame his disasters on others, Palin style, I was dumbstruck when he lumped Katrina and the economic situation together as unlucky things that just happened to him. Hurricanes happen, financial crises are made, no? The buck stops with you, dude. And his statement that only the "elite" in Europe don't like the U.S.? His mind is like the bunker that Cheney hides out in.
And why is he now admitting he authorized torture? Especially as it led to nothing except false intel. Does he think that because a couple of lackey lawyers told him it was legal, he's protected from prosecution? Maybe he feels confident that Obama isn't going to go after him, or maybe he's planning to pardon himself and is thumbing his nose at us.
Well, only one more week of this nightmare! Chat room here we come!
-
Amy, you sure do have some winners in your life! It just floors me that people would say stuff like that to someone they don't know that well. What if you had a spouse or in-laws who were African American? For what it's worth, I live in a very liberal neighborhood, but still encounter racism. (But we are having a "Double Happiness" parade on the 19th, to celebrate MLK Day and the inauguration.)
Laura, thanks for the article. Hats off to Conyers! We need to shine a light on it so the world knows we're done with torture.
-
That ridiculous "farewell" better not cut into CSI!! Grissom is leaving!
Can someone tell Bush 43 to pack up and get out of dodge already?!?
-
Amy (OPWW), you might feel a little more comfy north of the border. I believe none of our TV stations would give Ann Coulter 2 seconds worth of exposure, and just call me "shocked and appalled" that The View would have her as a guest. I guess it all comes down to money and ratings; truth, integrity and good taste be damned......
-
I think Ann Coultergeist and Rush Limpballs are clowns. I doubt that they even care about the stuff they say - they are just trying to be outrageous and grab attention. Like Howard Stern (whom I happen to like, btw) they are shock jock entertainers. What's hysterical is that people listen to them as though they are telling the gospel truth. Then they repeat it ad nauseum and people like us are beating our heads against a wall if we ever expect to enlighten them. I think Insannity and Bill Orally, on the other hand, really believe the BS that spews from their mouths. But enough about the circus clowns of right-wing radio...
Whoooooohooooooooooooooo!!!! This time next week, PEBO drops the E and becomes PBO!!!!!!!!!! A NEW ERA in this country has begun and we were part of the HISTORY-MAKING election of 2008!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
-
LAP- what's crazy is that my chiro knows I worked on the Obama campaign and my landlord had to have seen all my obama signs at some point. I knew my landlord was a right wing nut because of the friggin life size McCain sign and I figured my chiro was republican. I just thought he was one of the likable, unbiased ones.
dj- It took me a while to figure out what PEBO meant. I think Ann Coulter is worse than Rush because she's a woman attacking other women for sexist reasons. She really is hateful. I think that Rush is more stupid than hateful, even though he is hateful.
linda- I like your country a lot better than ours. You're much more progressive about lgbt rights and how starting wars based on lies is a bad idea.
re: the hearings. I thought republican Lugar had an excellent point about reporting foreign individual donations over $50,000 right away, rather than waiting until the end of the year. Why not rule out every possible ethical dilemma to protect herself, especially if she wants to run for president in 2016 (though I really hope she won't if only for drama reasons).
-
Donna....LOL!!! I loved the names you have for Ann & Rush....how very true!!! It's unbelievable to me that either of those two have a following??? What sort of horrible human must you be to listen to either one of them? Do either of them claim to be christians? I am not, however, I believe one of their major rules is to NOT judge others!!! Their entire careers are based on judging people!!! And the flock that follows them..the same thing!! It is nothing but pure greed. To say its anything else would be an absolute lie. I am so sick of all the hypocrites that spew their garbage in the name of their country and their god. It's nothing but a lie!!!
We have some new billboards going up in Portland, they say "Imagine No Religion" Personally...I think it could only do good. Isreal and Gaza...say no more.
-
Not only does he have his inherited money; and he doesn't care how well he did for eight years--he "skated" through the 8 years and now has a big wonderful pension with benefits and our tax dollars pay for this! We had 8 years of a totally incompetent arrogant egotistical excuse for a leader and he doesn't even get a "job performance review" but retires to his whites only community and gets paid to be an idiot! Golly gee--and some wonder where the big boys on Wall Street and Finance got the idea to pay themselves first and gobble up the bail-out for their parachute to continue their wonderful richly undeserved lifestyle while the middle and lower classes go to heck in a handbasket!!
Absolutely disgusting that the leaders in this country have lost their moral compass and are guiding themselves with greed and unearned entitlement. Wow! This country has hit an all time low. Obama will accomplish much as he regains our respect in the world and cleans up the s%$t Bushy and his puppetmasters left behind.
-
Little G- I agree Little G. The bulletin boards are pro separation of church and state, I assume. I would love some of those posters to go up where they are most needed. There would probably be 1/10th of the wars in history if not for religion.
-
Little G --- I have heard that there a group within the UN that is trying to come up with measures to get rid of existing religions by developing one world religion due to the fact that the divisiveness has caused most wars. I couldn't find a date on the article, there were several links if you google One World Religion.
-----The United Nations Millennium Assembly in September will gather more heads of state than at any other time in history. Their purpose--gain consensus for the Charter for Global Democracy, which would in effect, transform the UN into a World Government. As if that were not enough, the United Nations is also sponsoring the Millennium World Peace Summit. This summit will gather more than 1000 religious leaders to search for common ground and common values among their respective faiths. This will lay the groundwork for a One World Religion. The UN offers global peace and security as a result of these meetings. Is this going to be Utopia, or will the results be cataclysmic?
-
amy - i can not even fathom hearing such talk, much less listening to it. people who speak like that will fail in the 21st century, imo.
grace - it is no wonder that 85% of the world population supports obama.
i agree with whoopi about ann coultergeist when she said, "you can dish it out but you can't take it."
linda - it is all about ratings for the view, sadly...ratings bring the dollars, imo.
clinton did an outstanding job today, her nomination will pass easily, is my guess. listening to her "smart power" talk was a breath of fresh air.
just days away...woooooooooooooohooooooooooooooo.
-
LOL I would like to put Elisabeth Hasselback, GW Bush,Sarah Palin, Bill Oreily, VP Cheney, and Joe the "wanna be" plummer in a padded cell and throw away the key! It will never happen but aahhhh it is soooooooooooooooo nice to dream about it! But one thing I wont have to dream about anymore is going to happen in just a few short days........ CHANGE!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We did it YAY OBAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

Transcript: Obama Talks About Transition to Washington
STEPHANOPOULOS: So based on what you've learned during all these intelligence briefings, are we safer or more at risk than you believed during the campaign?
OBAMA: Well George you know I can't say what the --
STEPHANOPOULOS: Without giving me any confidential information, just generally.
OBAMA: I think that we have made progress in certain areas but those dangers are still there. And those dangers are not going to immediately go away because we're not talking about conventional armies where we have very clear measures of what their capacity is. We know exactly what they're planning, where they're positioned. If you have a small group of people in today's world with today's technology who are intent on doing harm and are willing to die, that is something that's always going to be a challenge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEPHANOPOULOS: The most popular question on your own website is related to this. On change.gov it comes from Bob Fertik of New York City and he asks, "Will you appoint a special prosecutor ideally Patrick Fitzgerald to independently investigate the greatest crimes of the Bush administration, including torture and warrantless wiretapping."
OBAMA: We're still evaluating how we're going to approach the whole issue of interrogations, detentions, and so forth. And obviously we're going to be looking at past practices and I don't believe that anybody is above the law. On the other hand I also have a belief that we need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards. And part of my job is to make sure that for example at the CIA, you've got extraordinarily talented people who are working very hard to keep Americans safe. I don't want them to suddenly feel like they've got to spend all their time looking over their shoulders and lawyering (ph).
STEPHANOPOULOS: So, no 9/11 commission with Independence subpoena power?
OBAMA: We have not made final decisions, but my instinct is for us to focus on how do we make sure that moving forward we are doing the right thing. That doesn't mean that if somebody has blatantly broken the law, that they are above the law. But my orientation's going to be to move forward.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So, let me just press that one more time. You're not ruling out prosecution, but will you tell your Justice Department to investigate these cases and follow the evidence wherever it leads?
OBAMA: What I -- I think my general view when it comes to my attorney general is he is the people's lawyer. Eric Holder's been nominated. His job is to uphold the Constitution and look after the interests of the American people, not to be swayed by my day-to-day politics. So, ultimately, he's going to be making some calls, but my general belief is that when it comes to national security, what we have to focus on is getting things right in the future, as opposed looking at what we got wrong in the past.

Shirley,
??? So whats your point!? We have to discuss and study the rotten 8 year past in order to get the future right. I am confident that the future is brighter than the Bush years. We are all looking forward to moving forward but the burn of the past still stings like salt in an open cut. Trust me when Obama is in office Bush conversation on this thread will begin to fade as we embark on a new era of CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! CHANGE IS ALMOST HERE!!!

laura- I hate hearing that crap too, I hate it so much it bothers me for a while. Why do some people in the majority think it's ok be disrespectful to the minority?
Serene- Hopefully you can come visit us more often. I love the look on Barbara's face... dad, isn't there something wrong, I can't put my finger on it... I agree that people are starting to come together-- people who care about the country want and expect Obama to do well. People who don't-- well we all know those types.
Tracey- don't feed the trolls, it only encourages them to bring rancor to our thread, which is the purpose of being a troll. There is too much hope and optimism with the obama administration coming next week to focus on people who come here with ulterior motives. I suspect some might even try to invade our chat on inauguration just to cause trouble. Are you going to the inauguration or will you be on chat with us? If you go to the inauguration, we'll want play by play details when you come back.
Obama ladies, do you think Hillary will have a problem working with Samantha Power based on the overexaggerated bruhaha. Power will do a lot to end human suffering and genocide and Hillary will have her hands full with all the wars Bush has gotten us into.
This might be a rhetorical question, but WHY won't Sarah Palin put a sock in it? I think the fact Megan McCain will talk about anything in the election except Palin says volumes with her silence.
I can't wait to hear Obama's inaugural speech. It's going to be so inspiring.

All I have to say is PORTUGUESE WATER HOUND DOG! Hey... I guess I am not only the good thing that came out of Portugal! LOL
http://news.spreadit.org/portuguese-water-hound-dog/
Always me!

woooooohoooooooooooooooooo! Change is coming! Life is good!!!!!
amy - interesting remark by megan mccain, for sure. too bad palin does not seem to know when to shut up.
lilia - lol ...portuguese sweet bread is a good thing too.
i love that flag pic of bushed (past tense), sadly it was not only the flag he got backwards.
i see no problems for hillary and her management of the state department, seems the department of defense is happy to see a strong state department in the wings. CHANGE is coming...
wooooooooooooooohooooooooooo! The country spoke loud and clear! OBAMA FOR CHANGE.
days away. onward and upward.
