Starting chemo Dec 2007

Warm fuzzies back at you ladies! It has in fact been a year to remember, but to be placed in the past as we have so much to look forward to in the coming years of health for all. The year has been one of new learning curves, leaning on people I may never meet in person but who I hold close at heart and in mind, and getting through the ups and downs of seeing with glee each one make it through to start moving on to a better place.
All but one. For me the loss of Joy brings a realization that any one of us could have been in her situation and while I am thankful most of weren't, I remain saddened by the loss of this dear friend, we met and cheered, supported and in the end, cried with. Her family continues in my prayers and does she. Our loss is deep even though we never shared a personal {{hug}} from this woman we call friend.
To that I'll add my hopes and dreams that not one of us will ever find reason to come and research these boards for ourselves or someone we know again. While I know that is a long shot, it is what my prayer will be for the new year. That we all stay healthy and learn to move on with a renewed look on life! A good outlook for each!
Thanks for always being there through this last 13 months ladies. You're more to me than I can put in words. Peace be with each of you in your lives.
-
I think we all are doing alot of reflecting. This past year has been a rough but enlightening one for all of us. We have met so many wonderful people, learned about many things we really didn't care to learn about. We have met each other... and supported each other...and most of us have come out the other side smiling and stronger. God Bless Joy who lost her battle, we will miss her. Thanks to all of our families, our wonderful doctors and all the others along the way who have touched and continue to touch our lives. Loves and hugs to everyone.....
-
Ladies,
I too have been reflecting on the past year. Sometimes I'll be doing something as simple as bringing in the groceries and I remember how, at this time last year I walked with much more care and didn't carry as much weight in my arms. I am so lucky to be doing so well, and I feel truly grateful.
My body feels that I have truly come full circle as I started my period yesterday (blah!). My last one was January 13th, so I really thought they were gone for good. Well, apparently not yet. But it is a sign that the chemo must really be out of my system and my body is getting back to normal, so I won't complain.
Hope everyone is doing well as the year ends. Prayers for Joy and other people we've known who have passed on. May 2009 be a blessed year.
Hugs,
Sally

Hi everyone. Just checking in. My comptuer is sooo slow so I never get on it. Right now I'm at hubby's work so I can use the computer. He's leaving for sunny florida for a few months. He leaves next week and will return in the spring (may) so it wil be a very long cold winter for me. Hope everyone is doing great!!
Kate
-
Wow, Kate! That's a long time. Does he normally travel away that long? I can't imagine dh being gone that long...so sorry! And yes, this is the winter of all winters from the feels of it, it will be a long for you
{[Sal}}, the ONLY thing I can be thankful for is that. A lack of menses! Man, I do NOT miss those in one little iota! Whew! Can't imagine getting them back. Although I had 2 scares being on this arimidex and thinking I was starting. Heavy spotting at 3 and 9 months out! UGH! You must be one os those young ones to be getting it back. Mine used to be so heavy 7-10 days every 18-21, that I thought surely I'd be one to get them back! Dec 5 of 08 was one year, YEAH!!!!
-
Happy New Year my friends!
Well we are on page three and thats not acceptable
It was mt B day on Jan 4 and it passed by without a celebration at home as we were too busy clearing snow. Thats a really good feeling as I would rather miss is due to working too much than being too sick. I am so thankful to be here and be able to celebrate (late) but hopefully we will get together with a few friends this next weekend to just be glad fo being!
So hope everyone is well and getting through all the Dec dates that are not so nice!
Kelley, Im praying for you and your family.... I have no words to help with the pain except hope love and JOY. I pray she is now at peace and watching over us all as an angel. Peace be with you my friend. Please touch base with us when you are comfortable. We really care.
Much love and hugs, Suz

Hello ladies .. hope everyone's year has started out well and can say that it better damn well be a good year for all of us, we deserve it after last year.!!!
I got the results back from the BRCA testing and am negative so that is good. I was pleased with that, definately ready to deal if if would have been positive of course. I now will move on to have my ovaries removed as at my age I don't need them anymore and dr feels better course of action and then Arimidex, Anyone have advice on that??? I also finally can get my port out.. yay.. herceptin is all done. Feels wierd but I am happy about no more infusions for sure. I am seriously considering having my right breast removed 'just because' ... hair is growing although still not as fast as I would like. I just cannot understand what takes the front so long to get to a decent length but the back can turn into a mullet look in a few weeks LOL
Well hope everyone is doing well. Kelly hope you are starting finding peace, your mom is looking down on you and smiling that's for sure.
-
Kimbly! Fantastic you are through the main treatments and on to the hormone level! WTG! Yes, the hair has a been a trip to say the least. I notice at each new 1/2 inch, there's something new to learn for me on what to do with the waves and curls. I've never been a fusser, so it's hard to handle till I get that handle on it and then I can enjoy it )
{{Kelley}} Hoping as Kimbly said, that you are able to smile when you think about your mom and the love you shared. You are in my prayers Kelley:)
-
Hey big yea... for Kim..oooh I hated that port. I only had a lumpectomy so I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm scared but will go all the way if a next time comes my way. What can I say...I didn't know at the time so I couldn't make a real decision. Big hugs my friends, Love Suz
-
SUZ....IT will NOT go there dear, so don't allow your thought to either, k?
{{hugs}} to all....Hoping everyone is doing well and better~

Hi, and Happy New Year to you lovely ladies! Just checking in, though it seems I am able to keep up with most of you via facebook now
, which is nice, getting to know you in your (kinda) real lives. Seems right, too--since we are all moving on.
I've been thinking a lot, too, and feeling a little nervous to be all the way done (herceptin is finished)...it was comforting to have that, and feel like I was still DOING something. I am going in for a mammo next week. I'm more prepared for something to show up (and possibly need a biopsy etc, which is what happened last time) but also more frightened...if something is there, it's a whole new, and scarier, can of worms.
Hope you are all doing well, and not catching all the bugs that are coming and going at my house so frequently these days.
Love to all--
A

Good Luck next week with the mammo! I had one in april b/c of a lump I thought i had, turned out they called it a ridge (which still doesn't sit well with me, b/c it's the upper outer quadrant, not where we all think our ridge is)...but I have to trust them hey? So, I didn't get one at 1 year :)THat was nice....Hope all goes perfectly plain in your views and no worries or scares. Please let us know how it goes
AND CONGRATS on being done with the hercept! Whoohoooo!
I need to check others facebooks out. with so many nieces and nephews on it, I spend more time answering them (there are 17) than anything!
-
Hi all! Well, I finally added a picture! I've been playing around with facebook a bit and just figured out how to do the picture thing! Better late than never right! Hope all of you a doing well!!
-
Facebook!? You didn't say you had facebook
How's come
-
I really just started getting into it! I found a group that's into Twilight just as much as me and they are fun to talk to! Are you over there too? Name please!! LOL
-
Yes name plse.. I am on facebok as well.
-
Loriann, I think Sally is a Twilight fan, too!
I'll friend you. Pretty soon we'll all be over there. ha ha!
Mammo tomorrow. Have a little pit in my tummy that I'm trying to ignore. At least they'll read it while I'm sitting there, so I'll know what the scoop is ASAP. Sigh. Sometimes I think you bilateral ladies were really smart.
A
-
I still have a couple months before my annual, amy, and I'm feeling that pit, just thinking of you having to go for one
Extending a hand to hold while you wait for the results. And you are lucky that they'll read it right away. That's the ONLY good thing about it, is that they pretty much let you know right away after what we went through, whew!
Good Luck and let us know how it goes
-
My heart is tugging for you ladies that are worrying about upcoming or past mammograms. If it's any consolation, the fear would still be there if you'd had bilateral mastectomies... it's just the nature of the beast... it's no surprise that recurrance is our worst nightmare. When I asked my onc about having mammos, since I' had bilateral mast., he said "Well, the good news is you'll never have to have another mammogram because the breast tissue was totally removed. So if the cancer was to come back, it'll be in a totally new place." I think that was supposed to be encouraging
We did everything the doctors told us to do, so hopefully our bodies are on the right paths.
I too, have enjoyed getting to know you ladies better on Facebook. It's nice to have such a mix of friends-- school friends, work friends, BC friends, family, etc.-- to keep in touch with.
Loriann, love the picture of you... your picture on Facebook is of Edward, isn't it? He he he.
I think if I could choose, I'd be a Jasper woman:-)Love to you all,
Sally

Hi Ladies,
Well I got a call yesterday telling me I had a mammo scheduled for today. Nice of them to let me know..... So I went and again had to have a second one done on the right side. I wont get the results for two or three weeks as they are backlogged. So again I sit and wait, I was surprised to be called in as I just had the last tests done the end of Sept ? It seems to be kinda quick, makes me wonder if there was more than they said last time. Sigh what can you do............ Love and hugs to you all, Suz
-
Awwwwwwww {{{{SUZ}}}} that sux to have to wait. How did they determine you needed the second one without reading the first. I guess in that situation, I'd be a little miffed. Does your bs get copies of the report? Perhaps calling his/her office would at the least get an all clear answer quciker, or if not, then you can hear that and get on with the next step.
What do you mean by 'more than last time?'
-
Last time they saw something out of the ordinary and I had 3 or 4 different tests... they were going to do a core biopsy and stopped in the middle of it.... all of a sudden they said all was fine, go home??
So this time they did the first mammo (it goes straight to docs to see if they want more pics and where) and they set me up with a second mammo on a specific area right then and there. Well this is the same area that was suspect last time.... So Im concerned and worried and just wish they would tell me whats up. Unfortunately its in my right (good side) breast so it scares me.
There is nothing I can do and worrying about it doesnt help anyone. Personally I think somethings wrong... gut instint. I felt it last time too. Im going to try to push for more answers this time, even if just to ease my mind. Hopefully it will all be ok, but as you all know its the waiting.......
My BS has not been involved since the cancer agency took over my case, maybe this is different in Canada? I know if I have to have more surgery I get breast cancer specialists, my surgeon was just a general surgeon.
Much love and hugs Suz
-
Oh, that is different. Here (at least for me) once the mammo showed concerned I was sent to the breast surgeon who did the U/S and then followed through with the bx at that same appt guided with the U/S. well, hon, hope and pray it's just an area they are seeing that's normal breast, and nothing more. I know easy to say, but try to stay busy and keep you mind positive, K? We'll keep the prayers, good thoughts and B9 chant going from down here for you
SUX all the while waiting for you though
wrap some of these {{{hugs}}} around you as needed till you get word all is okay, k?
-
Thanks Wishiwere.... Big hugs and holdin back the tears. You are a gem. Love and Hugs Sue
-
Awwwww SUZ
So wishiwere there to wait along with you. I remember a year ago March going in after only a month out of chemo b/c of a lump, my pcp,and I felt and the techs all did. So when they the mammo and decided to do an U/S I broke down in front the ladies, tearing up and all, I was certain it was already back! Thankfully the BS said the radio doc said it was only a ridge. I hope that's all they are seeing for you too dear. Can you feel anything they are seeing?
-
No I dont.. Unfortunately I have lumpy breasts... so I will wait and see. I dont know if any of you gals have talked about it but when I compress the nipple I have a discharge that starts out mirky then ends up a really dark brown discharge... Im only being honest... and Im scared. I dont think this is normal..... Suz
-
Shoot, doesn's sound normal, No, but then, I've never had discharge from the nipple maybe it's normal for some? Are you still having a period? have to get to work but we'll talk tonight when I get home if you're around sweetie....
-
omg Suz I am so sorry that you are going through this waiting thing, it really really stinks and I am feeling the anxiety here for you. I am getting that there is no one to call to get some extra quick attention to your case. I know you are just going out of your mind. On the other hand you are right worrying is not going to change a thing, and easier said than done but just try to relax and breathe. Hug your dog, husband and son and know that I am so worrying here with you. Reoccurance is our worse fear, and that comment about no mammos and well it will come back elsewhere ..ouch. I am constantly checking my scar for anything at all that seems out of the ordinary believe me. Now that I am on the only see the onc every 3 months I am a tad nervous. Being monitored every 3 weeks for 6 months and then every 6 weeks for another 6 always eased my mind. How often are they making you go for mammos now? I was told only once a year was necessary. The discharge does not sound normal but it could be something else. I feel bad Suz cuz I just realized you were going through this worry.... here to talk if you want.
-
Jeepers Kim, I've been on 6mos onco visits since may. Saw him in nov and again next may. strange how they are all different in follow up.
{{Suz}} thought about you at work today..hope you are hanging there okay friend.
-
I think the difference is that I am her2+ and was on herceptin, now that that is finished I go to the every 6 months. Even so yes doctors do vary on how they manage their follow up care. Have you ever had any type of scan? as in bone or pet? I havent but I do see that some do..
I have been thinking alot about Suz as well. hope she is okay...
