The Respectfully Republican Conversation

Ah my dear bc / republican sisters are in full force this day. I have a special New Years gift for you all!
All we hear from the media and such is how horrible a president George Bush has been. Those of us who defend him (a very small percent of us exist) are pounced on by the opposition. I know that the economy is bad right now. I know that EVERYONE has a bit of blame for it too. EVERY single American shares at least a piece of the blame pie.
But President Bush is not the "worst president" in history. In fact, I bet many will be surprised by all the things his administration has accomplished since 2001. These are things the MEDIA WONT tell us, and democrats won't acknowledge, but readily available at www.whitehouse.gov.
So lets take a look at just what this "horrible" president has been up to since 2001:
Iraq & Afghanistan are now democracies & women have right to vote.
Because of the Bush Administration, 6 million children in Afghanistan are in school now compared to 1 million in 2001, and girls now have right to go to school- they were banned before 2001.
Anbar Province restored and al Qaeda was eliminated from there.

I think it goes without saying George Bush can't POSSIBLY be the worst president ever. His humanitarianism is unsurpassed by any president to date. In fact, he has done a remarkable job and it is too bad that John McCain didn't do more to bring things like these to "light" while he had the opportunity to do so.
Also too bad (but good) that Bush is modest and doesnt care about getting the "glory", he just wants to do what is right for the good of the people. In fact, it is a biblical principle to not do things for glory, but to do them from your heart.
Happy New Year, I love each and every one of you!
-
Happy New Year to all.
I'm going to have to look for a younger, glamorous picture of me (pre BC of course.) I don't want to be left out of the loop. Moody and Rock your pictures are gorgeous, I'm sure despite the ravages of chemo, you are still beautiful; we know you both have a beautiful spirit, too. I know I've gotten tons of complements on my looks with my very short hair, and my hair was shoulder length pre BC.
That is quite a list you displayed for President Bush's accomplishments. He has been quite an example of integrity.
-
ladysuz,
Her statement on Bush and BC was a bit ridiculous, won't you agree ? Normally people say 2008 was a bad year, let's hope 2009 is a better one. Bush presidency has spanned 8 years., lot of things happened then.
-
RBM,
NBC can't seem to stay unbiased.
Were it ever unbiased ? I would say NBC can't be unbiased. But what else is new. Thanks G-d for Fox news. One thing I strongly dislike when we travel is that in some hotels especially outside of US, you can only get CNN. Talk about biased.

. $150 billion rebate package where we all got $$$$ back
I didn't get a check!!
Sorry, for me, he spent too much money worrying about other countries: Afghanistan and Iraq and the continent of Africa. My thoughts run toward taking care of your own house before someone else's ... I can't justify him invading Iraq when it all happened... to me it was illegal. Sadaam did the last minute "uncle" and we should have accepted it instead of invading. I think that and the misinformation he received about WMD is criminal -- someone on his staff or the CIA or whoever it was, should be held accountable. We spent billions invading and now trying to secure a country that ended up having no WMD. I am NOT blaming the misinformation on Bush but I do blame him for invading when Sadaam had his hands in the air: that was arrogant of Bush and Cheney.
I know I am an outsider with my thoughts on Bush but I am not proud of his term. I am ready for him to get out. I just wish we had a proven track record on Obama. I wish the ticket had been McCain/Romney or the best would have been McCain/Clinton!
-
Rocky it was Sadaam himself that made the world believe that he had WMD's.......he had to for his very existence...........if Iran knew that they didn't really exist Iran would have invaded Iraq in a heartbeat..........don't you remember what led up to the invasion?.........Sadaam refused to respect the rules put on him by the UN........firing at our planes in the no fly zone........also the whole Food for Oil program being run through the UN was nothing more then a money laundry scheme where some really bad bad people where making millions........and no one was getting any food............there are things going on that for the most of us we will never know.............I know that Bush has very few fans even among many Republicans and maybe the invasion if we had known now what we didn't know then was not the best laid plan but we had to deal with the hand we were dealt............Bush may not be a native Texan but he lived here long enough........the status quo was not acceptable.......something had to be done especially after 9-11...........Shokk
-
I don't have as much problem with Bush going to Iraq as with his underestimation of what it would take to win, I forgot the name of that general who openly stated that there were not enough troops to do the job but he was pushed aside for this and he was absolutely right. I am glad to see he is in Obama's administration. That's one of the very few things I give McCain credit for : a call for the surge
-
Rock if you filed tax returns in 2007, you should have gotten a rebate in 2007, so you need to check on yours. Especially since you have a child, as you get $ for her too. We got back $1200.
I believe that anytime we spend $$ to better other people, it is always a good investment that will pay off for the good. Yes there will always be those who return bad for good, but that happens right next door too. Sadam never had his hands in the air, he went deep undergroung when we got there, and left his "military" to fend for themselves. I was watching FNC they day that our military released the 200,000 children under the age of 12 respectively, that had been held in prison. That was the most chilling thing I had ever seen!
I believe there were the "ingredients" for the WMD (as reported by FNC) but they hadnt actually "built" one yet, but it was only a matter of time, as they had everything they needed, they just couldnt figure out how to put together. Our "friends" in Sudan were fixing to "help" them "figure" it out.
-
Sue_blue I think you should def put up your before b/c pic!! Infact, I would love to see everyone before b/c as for most of us, it was better times then!
-
I keep trying to po
st pics
-
I just can't get the pic thing right. I thought I had this sized to small
-
ibcspouse,
Great picture ! Is it you on the left
-
No, Nothing on me moves well enough to get on stage with.
-
ibc what a very cool pic! Cam is GORGEOUS!!!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!!
-
She won me with her beauty, I won her with my wit. Years later she is still gorgeous and I have lost half my wit. But the end result is the half wit still is in love with the beauty, inside and out.
-
I do remember, shokk, I remember the stand-off and the threats. But when we had him surrounded and said time's up...he cried Uncle, the UN said, Ok we can go in, Bush aka probably Cheney, said, too late! I just think that part is the criminal/illegal part ..
Yes, we do have to deal with ... but I can't sing the praises of what Bush accomplished. I am a little bit selfish right now and not caring about Afghanistan and Iraq ... I want us out faster than Moody can do jumping jacks! LOL
-
RBM,
I think ti will take at least a decade to see whether Iraq war was the right move. It's always hard to see things while in the midst of it. As they say the history will judge
-
Golly geez, Moody, I'm tared (I'm from Texas) after reading ALL that Bush DID do. And I only read what you listed. Many do not like the Patriot Act. That is it, isn't it? Where they can listen in on conversations TARGETED at terriorists?
Rocky, I know you really dislike Bush. I agree with Shokk. In my view the blame is on Saddam's shoulders for not letting the inspectors do their job. And don't forget that Clinton et al thought there were WMDs there too. The UN's a big joke. And I'm getting to the point that we need to help our OWN before we throw $$$$$$ to other countries expecially when some of the countries are not using the money for the people, but the dictator is keeping it.
-
Vivre, my only single dd has a boyfriend now. So, it won't work. He a "potential" husband, but too soon to know if that will happen.
Shirley
-
We did go in and look........and it was too late........he had his chance for the whole Clinton administration....but it was the same game.....he was just like my youngest.....say ok you are going to have to do this and she will look at me with her beautiful green eyes and so ok and then do whatever the hell she wants.......Sadaam was exactly the same way.......ok I will quite gassing my own people .........then we would leave and he would start again with more bad behavior........something had to change and it was not going to be Sadaam..........this game of his had gone on for years.........he was a cruel man that had no regard for human life...........and correction he was not making millions off the food for oil program but billions........and funneling money to some very bad corrupt governments around the world.........that also had no regard for human life..........Shokk
-
Kelly, talking about the rebate....you need to go back and read..perhaps you made too much last year. However, the rebate is really for this year...2008. If you made less (enough less) you can get a rebate check. I have the info somewhere. I'll try to find it. In other words, it's really based on this year's income. And, if you made too much this year too bad. You keep the money. Did I make sense....LOL
-
Ladysuz, I don't think "my interpretation" was too far off. The poster didn't explain, so I just thought she was blaming something on Bush...like not enough research. She didn't clarify. I bet most of us posting on this board can say we got our dx under Bush.
-
Shirl, I know, everyone was fooled ... I am not lying blame on Bush for believing it ... everyone believed.
I am just disgusted with alot of our politics .. like paying for Osama and supporting him while he was in Afghanistan and then he turns on us and he did his first attempt on the WTC. Lots of our leaders are to blame, repubs and dems.
Maybe Obama will bring change and maybe it will be the same old same old ...
(need to pray hard this coming year that God indeed helps our leaders help our country)
-
Shokk , ditto what you said.
Shirley, this is from Wikipedia: The Act increases the ability of law enforcement agencies to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial and other records; eases restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expands the Secretary of the Treasury's authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and enhances the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expands the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act's expanded law enforcement powers can be applied.
The Act was passed by wide margins in both houses of Congress and was supported by members of both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Edited to add: Rock - no way in HECK I'm doing jumping jacks anytime soon, my new boobs wouldn't like that very much......ouch.....LMAO
ibc you are sooooooo witty, dont short change your self.
-
It's a hard one, Roctobermom. The war was not planned well. I don't believe anyone knew that all these terrorists were gonna come in and blow themselves up. And blow our men and civilians up too. Do you remember how our military and even the media had masks to wear in case biological weapons were used against them. I was glued to the TV during the war. I just hope we can get out of both Afghanistan and Iraq, and that they can live in peace in a democracy. We've lost too many young men and women for this war to be fought in vain. I do think it's time for the Iraqis to step up and start paying.
-
Moody, I believe the Patriot Act has stopped several terrorist acts. As far as I know, no body's listened in on my phone calls...LOL Things have changed since 9/11. We can never enjoy the freedoms we used to take for granted...LIKE FLYING...you've seen my fat self. Last time I flew I was "frisked" everytime. And that was before we couldn't take but 6 oz of liquid on the plane with us. I must look like a terrorist! I better be careful what I say on the phone ABOUT our new PE.
-
Love that pic, IBC. I NEVER was that purtty. DUH!
Shirley
-
Shirley, you fly just so you can be frisked....your not foolin anyone......
If the gov'n ever listened to my calls, they would fall asleep.....BORING
-
Ok I would like to have a sanity check here. I beleive in bringing things into open So instead of sending PM messages , I would like to ask a question in the open. Is there any reason all of my postings as of late being ignored ? Have I done something to deserve it like opposig banning people even someone like Amy ? Or I am being supersensitive due to PMS ?
-
ijl I dont think anyone is ignoring you. Now I gotta go back and see what you posted as I cant remember. Most of the time, if people agree with you, there is no need to post, so maybe its cuz everyone agreed with your posts?!?
You have the right to oppose anyone being banned. There is nothing wrong with standing up for someone you think was mistreated.
Im PMSing too and it isnt fair, cuz I just got through PMSing week before Christmas, so I wasnt expecting my "surprise" today!!!!
