Good morning All. Another sunny Saturday morning, alittle cool(-32),but clear skies and sunshine...Toronto is getting hit pretty hard with snow,my sister tell's me.What part of Ontario are you from Sharon?Did you get alot of snow also?....I'm from Ontario originally, born at The women's college hospital in T.O.,lived in a small town called Claremont for 9yrs.and then in 1964 we moved to Oshawa.....Now a day's Oshawa is almost like a suburb of Toronto. So is every-one getting their shopping done or am I the only one that left it to the last minute?
The school really did a wonderful thing this year! Instead of decorating their tree with light's and bulb's,they used mitts and hats and coat's,and collected food for the Food Bank in memory of Brenda,Starla,David,Keenan and Dean
(good tears)...I think it is wonderful of them to carry on Brenda's loving way's..........Sara put up a tree this year, with Leah getting bigger,I understand her need to do it.This time last year Leah was so tiny, now she's running around and talking a mile a minute(can't understand with out a translator) but that doesn't slow her down ,ha ha

Norm you sound........well,good. Its so nice to see you post.
That is a wonderful idea to decorate the tree at school with things that are needed and to gather food. That is the true meaning of Christmas. It must be quite overwhelming for you.
You will learn Sara's (edit to say, whoops Leah's) lingo. Heck, you must have known it before.
(((((Norm)))))
I'm sending you a PM.
-
Wow. Norm, you're positively turning into a chatter-box!! I LOVE it!! That's the nicest gift anyone could possibly give me. Thank you.
I've learned to purchase things all year long and stash them away. I just finally started digging thru my stockpile and remembered things I'd long ago forgotten. Started getting things wrapped. It seems I've pared down some, from the past. So I may still make a last minute dash for some additional goodies. I've told myself, no new purchases till I get these wrapped..... and see just what there is.
How fantastic that the school has honored Brenda, Starla, David, Keenan and Dean with keeping up her good works. I'm glad that they are good tears. Good tears are always welcome -- I think.
Glad to hear that Sara's put up a tree this year..... and I know that feeling of needing an interpreter to understand the glad-gobble-de-gook language. If you can email me a pic of Leah I'll put it up here for you. I know we all LOVE to see the little ones.
I'm gonna have to get out an Atlas and study up on Canada, if you and Sharon start to jabber. I feel very uninformed geographically.... so jabber on & that will motivate me to learn some more.
Norm. I've just ridden/pushed?? what do you call it?? the eliptical machine, here at DD's for another 20 minutes. Headed back for an additional 10. Get-off-your-butt has commenced indeed! I want to hear your plan for days when it's too cold out for a walk outside........
take care

Hello my Friends,
I hope everyone is well, Norm & Kelley I used the patch when I quit smoking 16 or 17 years ago, it worked very well for me as it allowed me the break the habit then slowly deal with the nico withdrawals.
I finally have my Christmas tree up & a few decorations around the house. Next I have to start my Christmas shopping (yes I'll be one of those last minute shoppers this year). As we do snow clearing here in the winter, I have been kept pretty busy helping my dh maintain all the trucks and equipment. We normally only get a couple of snowfalls a season in Vancouver, like Celia in Washington. But they are calling for a big one overnight tonight lasting until Tues. Lol so I guess I'll be spending some time in one of my snowplow trucks this week.
Anyway thinking of you all, holding you in my thoughts and prayers. Everyone stay safe and warm. Much love and hugs, Suz
-
Hi Norma, I am praying for you, God loves you and so do I. Hugs, Debbie

GOOD NIGHT ALL

Morning (((((Norm)))))

Good morning Sharon,I had a problem sleeping,so I guess it's hello.Sleeping is a comfort that I'm looking forward to some time.....
So how is your weather,I heard it was going to S%^& on you guy's.Hopefully the road's aren't too bad.I remember when I was a kid the weather was nasty, snow dreft's up to the hydr. poles. here there has been no no snow but -40.Glad I have a wood stove. With pine beetle eating our tree's,there's a lot of fire wood.
I'm starting to wind down,so take care;norm

-
Hello Norm. It's snowing like the dickens and supposed to continue all day. Our second storm in as many days.
We have a propane stove as an extra heat source which we used all the time so if the power goes out we'll still have heat. We were out for nearly 2 weeks the winter of the ice storm. We had a wood stove as the extra heat source then and it made all the difference. There is nothing like wood heat but wood is a lot of work.
I'm baking Norm. I tend not to go overboard at Christmas but dh loves my shortbread and so now they are cooling on the counter. Here norm, try one.......
(((((Norm)))))
-
Dear Norma, I wish you the best, Washington is having snow and freezing. It is hard to get around with my wheel chair or walker, I think I will be doing some baking like Sharon. I cant do too much, But like you I cant give up. God bless you threw these holidays. I am alone too and know it is hard. Hang on to your dreams and thanks for being a special person to alot of us here.
Thank you and (((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) Debbie -
Hey. Norm. I'm slow getting to the computer today, but wanted to pop in and wish you well.
Today was recording studio day. We're adding the sound effects now. It's my favorite part!!
I want one of your shortbreads Sharon.... that sounds delicious.
No snow here..... it poured earlier this weekend, if it had been cold, it would have stacked up to the gutters. Ye Gads. The wind is howling today, but the grass is still green.
Take care.
-
Mmmm, I may be moving to Ohio. Norm, I'll pick you up on my way.

-
How about coming 'south' for a visit?? We have a guest room, with it's own bathroom suite.
You're welcome to it, anytime you want a change of scenery.
-
Norm? Are we booking in?
-
Thank's for the offer folk's..I think I'd better get my life back on track first.I don't know how to explain it but on one hand I'm excited about moving at the end of the year. And on the other hand,I'm terrified......
I have to do this,if I stay I'll keep sliding deeper and deeper into a coma-tos state, that I'll never crawl out of.There has to be more to life then what I'm feeling now....and I intend on finding it,one step at a time.....

Norm, I can feel the change in you. And yes, move forward, slowly, one step at a time. You will find "more to life". (((((Norm)))))
-
Hello my dear friends,
I am just starting to get ready to fire up our 7 snowplows and hit the parking lots
The first few hours are a blast, but it loses its charm quite quickly after that.I wanted to post this for you, before I left
Dedicated to our Angels,
Those we love don't go away
They walk beside us every day
Unseen, unheard, but always near
Still loved, still missed, and very dear
Although for now we are apart
Your spirits lives within our heart
Have a beautiful evening my dearest friends, Much love ,hugs and prayers, Suz

Suz. What a great sentiment. Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking of you, your DH and the rest of your crew -- keeping the roadways safe in the challenging elements. Be careful, sister.
Norm. Just found this image, and it made me think of Brenda and the kids:

They're shining down over you, what ever you're doing.... where ever you are.

Beautiful pic Faith.

Good afternoon Angelwatchers,
Lots has transpired since last week...Kelley, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear mother, Joy. She was such a ray of sunshine on our thread and a supportive friend. Welcome...and as we've supported Norm, we too shall support you.
Norm and Kelley, good for you choosing to quit smoking. You'll be able to go through withdrawals together...instead of lighting up...login and post.
So many new names of this thread...welcome everyone and thank you for joining our circle of support for Norm....and now Kelley.
Faith, wonderful going's on, eh??? Recording, and a new deal, maybe?
What a whirlwind…this past week seems to have been one event after another…
OK, I’m going to admit something here…I am NOT in the holiday spirit. I used to love Christmas with the shopping for the perfect gift, the wrapping with care and flair, and all the trappings of the holiday. However, for the past few years, and this year especially, I’ve felt rushed and ‘forced’ into the spirit like it was a chore, another thing that had to get done. It has become more about commercialism, like so many of our American holidays, than about just enjoying being with family and friends, and being grateful for what really matters. Sorry, don’t mean to put a BahHumbug into the Christmas pudding, I just needed to let it out.
OK, I feel a bit better…and in keeping with my feelings, let me say that there is nothing that could be put under my Christmas tree or in my stocking that could bedazzle me more than the love, friendship, and support that I’ve found on this thread…such an unexpected gift.
We have family coming up tomorrow for Greg’s 50th birthday. They’ll be here until Friday. We’ll travel to Folsom for Christmas Eve, then have the whole family over Christmas Day. Tonight we have a get together with friends at their house with a bunch of people. Busy…As much as I love my family and friends, I’m looking forward to Friday afternoon when it will quiet down here.
I’m caught up as far as reading, but as far as shout outs...not happeing...too much to respond to at this point. Please know I am thinking of you all (Suz...be safe out there on those big snow plows, Footie, be safe in your wheelchair on the ice...and keep warm, Norm, the move will bring such gifts that this anxiety you're feeling will seem silly looking back on it come this time next year. I know the feeling of beng excited on one hand and nervous on the other...change is good.I do not like having such limited time to check in with you all as much as I used to do...I miss the day to day conversation.
I have GTG. I need to download the paperwork for my appointment this afternoon regarding oopherectomy and hysterectomy. I’ll let you know what I find out later…I’ve got plans in the morning with twinsis Kath, so maybe before I leave for Folsom. Have to leave hear by 7:15am…if not, I’ll login on the 24th.

.....I just received a pm from Mizsissy that made my day!!!!!!!

Linora sent it for OUR DEAR PUPPY. No updates or anything, but just hearing her brought tear's of joy..........norm
-
Wow. Norm. Hearing from KimberSIS and hearing of Puppy in the same moment -- a great day for our little circle of friendship.
KimberSIS..... it sounds like you're still in a cyle of appointments and decisions?? I think I missed something there?? I'll hope that your decsions are met with ease and confidence. Thinking of your TWINsis too. Hope all is going well for her, too.
I gave up on the 'over-commercialized' Christmas several years ago. Very stream-lined and down sized. We do have a teeny tree and I get gifts for everyone -- just a very managable approach..... all expectations are scaled w-a-y back. Sometimes I get to the cards in the new year. Time will tell if I get some out this year.
Norm.... I'm so glad that Linora sent you a message. Our Puppy needs all the prayers that we can share, on her behalf..... and Footie also.
It's good that we've added Sharon to our midst, to help with all of this holding each other up.
Suz........ sure hope that you're being careful in the deep stuff.
take care friends. sleep well. plan exciting adventures for the new year ahead.
-
Norm,
I think it is perfectly normal to feel both excited and terrified at the idea of a huge life-change like moving to a new city. I think that this move will be a positive move for you in pressing on further with your life and finding more meaning and peace for yourself. I am glad that you had news that cheered you up about Puppy.
We had even more snow and we now have at least a foot of it on the ground which is the most accumulation in 13 years that i have seen here. I am so not accustomed to snow after living in California for decades.
Thinking of you Norm and everyone else on this supportive thread.
hugs, celia

I don't think I know Puppy but have read her posts earlier on this thread. Prayers to Puppy wherever you are.
