Make-up hints

Try using it for a short period of time and only on one area to start. (The least sensitive area, maybe your forehead) If you don't break out from it, add areas, then add time. I usually buzz it up for about five minutes total, but I don't have sensitive skin. Or maybe I've built up tolerance. Tough old bird.
Oh, and Beth, you can use the PhotoFinish alone, without makeup. It does help minimize the look of large pores. Give that a try.
You are all so cute.
Oh, you musta been a beautiful baby, you musta been a beautiful child..... -
Awww, you're a cutie, too, Raye!!
I love my pics from those days... my mom curled my hair, scrubbed my face and proudly bought my pictures declaring me so beautiful, like I do with my daughter. It was a time when I look back and think about how much I was loved so completely. I was safe. No worries.
-
And I bet you don't have large pores, Rocktober! Such a pretty girl. I know what you mean about feeling safe...It took bc to make me realize that.
Jeepers Creepers, where'd ya get those peepers...
-
Now that I look at my photo again, I realize it is a bit pervy: short skirt hiked up every so slightly.
Your bangs look good Roctober! You were ahead of the times with the sloping bangs. Talk about crooked, or wayyyy short, bangs - I cut mine the day before the pic was taken at the very highbrow JCPenny studio.
Although large pores are bothersome (and come back again when you get older), they are a sign of oily skin, which means we will not age as quickly. Now that I am aging, I use the Oil of Olay products, which protect against the seven signs of aging, one of which is large pores. They also have products for oily skin.

-
I had oily skin as a teenager, and still have it now, but not as bad. My dermatologist would tell me as a teen that I would be thankful later, b/c oily skin ages better.
There's a web site that I'm trying to find the name of... I think it's yearbook.com where you punch in a picture and pick a decade, and it changes your photo. Its super cute and fun...
-
Tina, I've been using the other Neutrogena face-washer, the Wave, which is also great for getting all the crap off.
Love the little kid pix! Raye, OMG, love the red phone! Great idea to use them for avatar.
-
Raye, my sister had a brand new "Little Helper" apron.... pockets for a ruler, scissors, tape measure, etc .. she used her scissors to cut bangs much like yours. I will never forget her lying and saying she didn't do anything to her hair!!! My mom took away her scissors.
My bangs had grown out to past my chin .. I couldn't take it anymore ... tucking them behind my ears was not a good look for me... too severe. So, I texturized my hair a little bit and cut my bangs. Still not good enough, went into the salon and now have bangs again and layers! Really long layers .... my hair still hits my shoulders but I can flip it out on the bottoms. It's kinda "shaggy" ... I LOVE IT....
-
Rocktober - the haircut sounds absolutely abdorable. I love long layers and had always worn them when I had long hair. I too, look way too severe with long bangs tucked behind my ears and in October, when my bangs were to my upper lip, got them cut a bit and the top layered shorter so it wasn't so flat up there.

OK. I just broke down and bought Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 serum on Amazon. I thought I would save my money for a while but this was a good deal as it is on sale there.
This is an excellent hydrating gel you put under your moisturizer. My derm recommended his for my rosacea and it is great! It cost 65 inthe derm office and 40 on Amazon right now. It comes with a dropper and 2-3 drop covers the whole face and neck.
It leaves your skin silky and well hydrated.

The web site is called YEARBOOKYOURSELF.COM but won't be back till summer 2009. I'm so disappointed. It is such a fun web site, and the pictures are hilarious.
I could use a haircut.
-

That''s my new haircut ...... no curlers necessary!
-
Rbm,
The haircut is very sexy. It has that beach swept feel to it.
-
Oh! You look so cute, Rocktobermom! Very flattering.
-
Sooo cute!! You look great!! Very nice cut!
-
WOW, that's just beautiful!
-
Gorgeous new cut. Very sexy and cute!
-
Hi Gorgeous Girls! Remember me?... I think about you all the time... I quit my job a few months ago... so I'm not doing the makeup/fashion thing daily anymore... just being a bum around the house in sweats and slippers.
Raye - I love your avatar... OMG - what a cutie! Don't forget if you're ever in Chi-town... let me know.
Kelly - It was great talking to you yesterday... miss you! Okay... your avatar... OMG I can't tell if it's you or Teryn! Your new "do" is soooooooooooooo SASSY!... really hot. lol You look great.
I have a new "do" too... it's razored really well so all I have to do is wash and go... I was "dying" to have my hair highlighted yesterday... my 13 yr old niece - Shelby - was here for the weekend... so I bought a Loreal highlight kit... she pulled my hair through the cap and applied the dye, etc. Unbelievable... it turned out really good! lol Saved about $90!
Have a beautiful Monday!

Just wanted to let everyone know Tina- abadoodles has been stuck without power for a while... so hopefully she'll be back on soon. Miss her terribly.
Does anyone know if we can have one PM here to multiple recipients?
-
Sorry to hear that. I just tried to send a pm to more than one person and could not find a way to send a mass PM.
-
Laura!!!! It is so good to hear from you. I might just come up to Chicago and see you, watch out!
-
Oh, poor Tina! A lot of people in Mass were affected by that ice storm. We missed the ice here in RI, thank goodness. Hope she has heat!!
-
Yes, poor Tina, but I'm back now!!! It was hell.
Rocktober, you look just gorgeous!
Now I must get to work and deal with obnoxious customers for a bit. Will check in tomorrow.
Missed you all to pieces.

Hi all!
I pop in and lurk everyonce in awhile - love all the great ideas!
I jwas diagnosed with stage 3a bc in June, just finished chemo on Nov 19th, had a bilateral mast in July (with immediate recon), had my exchange surgery and a hyst/ooph and my port out last week. Can you say looowwww self esteem?
So my gyn surgeon also owns a med day spa - I went and got myself some botox and juvederm and they even tried giving me some henna eyebrows. I will go have a facial in a few weeks and get eyebrow extensions. I have never done this stuff - feels very self indulgent. I have, however, always had acrylic nails and gave that up due to lymphadema risk - that saves me about $75 month - I can put it towards my face AND I have gotten tons of compliments on my nails that I now do myself!
They suggested Vit C serum (which I probably wont use until after radiation just in case) and some Vit K stuff for under my eyes. She also wanted my to try RetinA but wanted me to clear it with oncologist first. I know she will say it is fine so I am going to do my own research. I have to say I am nervous after the new studies showing that many products have estrogen in them that we dont know about. Of course the Vit K under eye stuff says "soya oil" in ingredients - sigh. Don't ask how much that was.
I am wondering if I should just use olive oil and dip veggies!? How seriously do we take all this stuff? I have philosophy Amazing Grace which I LOVE but wonder now what is in it?
Anyway - I am trying to grow hair - nice not to have wrinkles while doing so and the perky boobs are a plus! Now all I have to do is live long enough to really get old - I turn 40 in March!
-
Hi, everyminute. I use a retinoid product from my ps office but it isn't RetinA. Nor is it Renova. It is pretty strong, though not as strong as those. It also contains Vit C.
Some women are afraid of everything they eat or put on their bodies after a bout with bc, but I'm not one of them. If you want to check the ingredients of your favorite cosmetics and treatments, there is a web site that lists many. I will look into our archives because I know someone was talking about it about a year ago. You may also try googling.
All that said, I think that olive oil has many virtues in its uses as cleanser/treatment. Nothing wrong with trying it and seeing if it does the job for you. Let us know how it works out.
-
I bought that new Blistex with the CoQ to try. I don't especially like it. The Aveeno is way better at keeping my lips moist.
-
Tina - I wondered about olive oil... my brain is failing me... I can't think of the name of the company that sells cleansers with olive oil in it... cripe! Do any of you know it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope you all had a beautiful holiday! And... wishing you a gorgeous New Year!
-
Regarding PMs to everyone, that's why I like facebook --- it's easy to do the mass pm!! We gotta get Tina and Raye to get a facebook ... and Laura needs to use hers!! Anybody else, pm me so I can add you to facebook!!
-
Hey Kel... I know, I know! lol Geesh - between bc.org, g-mail, aol, crazysexycancer.org... I have ALOT of checking in to do! lol I'm going to facebook right now... oh... I will be pm'ing you here with yet another horrible niece story!
-
LauraGTO- the company that makes olive oil products is DHC. Their deep cleansing oil is amazing! The oil gently dissolves all the makeup and then rinses off. They are online at dhccare.com
-
The olive oil cleanser is from DHC. http://www.dhccare.com/dhc/BestSellers.aspx
I wonder why, if it is almost all olive oil, you can't just use the real thing?
Facebook! OMG! Do you really want me to enter the 21st century? LOL Seriously, though, I am afraid of the lack of privacy on those sites. It's hard enough here, where we don't usually reveal personal facts like real full names, addresses, etc.
I'm so glad you're visiting again, Laura. Happy, happy, joy, joy to you, too.
Edited to add: Oops. Just saw your post konquer. That'll teach me to read everything before answering.
