    Hi Jerri;

    I have had Taxotere & Cytoxan. They had to premedicate me because of allergic reaction. I got the neulasta shot, and I did have aches and pains along with flu like symptoms. This next round of chemo they are recommending that I take the Aleve and Claritian. It works. I do not know what you can do if you are allergic to them. Aleve is not an Iburprofen. I took emend for 3 days. I  found the compazine and the kytril I took for about a week or two. My biggest complaint would be that my stomach hurt. It felt like someone punched me in the stomach all the time. I got constipation and for that I used SenKots. Works really well. For diahhera I take Imodime. Glad to see that you go your port in. Take a book to read or an ipod. Just sitting there is boring. I do not take anything now cause the premeds make me sleep. So now I sleep through it all. I will think about you on Tuesday. For me it took about the 3rd to 4th day when I started not feeling so well. For indigestion (acid reflux) my onc gave me Prosilec.

    Thank You Elizabeth!! I do have 1 question. Did you have ant bruising after the Port was placed in. I seem to have some brusing around it. I know they did flush it with Heparin.

    Jerri; I am sorry I thought I responded to your question. I did not have bruising around my port. It was very tender. How are you doing with your port now?

    Jerri: You had your first chemo today, didn't you? How are you doing? Hope it went well for you - no allergic reactions or anything too traumatic. Let us know how you're doing! I'm thinking of you and sending out Valley Vibes for minimal side effects!

    Jerri; I hope that you are doing alright. I am going to go ahead and reserve an extra seat at The Old Spaghetti Factory in case you decide to show up. I know you were not sure cause of having chemo and you are not sure of what the side effects are going to be. Keep me  posted and let me know what is happening. Thinking about you. Your in my prayers.

    Hi All,

    Sorry I haven't written. I was scheduled for Chemo on Tuesday but the Doctor had written for TC and they called and got it approved for Taxal and then when the Pharmi. went back to get dosage the Doctor saw Taxal and wanted Taxotere so then they had to call Insurance again but needless to say I had Chemo this morning with Cyto. and Taxotere. Doing okay but a bit tired. I go back on Friday to get the Neulasta Shot then labs the following week. I came home and took a Phenergan and will probably crash. Hopefully will be good to go for Great Meal tom.

    Elizabeth sorry I haven't responded about the Party. I really just don't know yet if you know what I mean. Next week I'm seeing my hair guy to get my Long Blonde hair Cut and I will cut it like Mia Farrow's in RoseMary's Baby! I've got a Plan.

    Anyway I hope you ALL are doing WONDERFUL!!!! Have a Great Thanksgiving!!

    Hello Ladies;

    I do hope that everyone had a enjoyable Thanksgiving. I have to say I had chemo on Wednesday and was sick to my stomach all day long and today. So that did not make it fun for me. Though I love seeing my brothers cause they make me laugh. Laughter is good for the immune system.

    Made the reservations for 8 of us.  This is just in case you get to make it Jerri. Was not sure since you are tired and do have so much going on. I understand if you can not make it. There will be other times that is for sure. If you do get to make it then Yeah! Good luck with getting your hair cut. My daughter shaved my head. First she thought she would have fun and make me a mohawk. It was pretty special. LOL So then I looked like I was in the army after that. Then came the bald head. Such Joy!

    Looking forward to seeing everyone at 6:30. It is under my name Elizabeth...

    Hi Elizabeth,

    I'm so sorry but I don't think I will be able to be there. I'm hurting ALL over and really constipated I guess from Chemo. Got the shot yesterday and just feel crummy. I think I would feel better if I could go to the bathroom and just take away the bone pain in my legs. I've been up since 4:30AM. I will probably crash here soon. Working on my Christmas Cards. I did try to decorate a little yesterday before the pain came in. But rest assured I will be there in heart and soul.

    Hi there Jerri;

    So sorry to hear that you are dealing with pain and constipation that is the worse. This is what they have recommended for me that works.

    Constipation:  Senna, or  SenKot, take 2 every night. This helped me a lot, cause I have been miserable and in so much pain from it.

    Bone aches: The morning of your shot take Alieve, & Claritain and take it for 3 days. It really helps with the body aches and bone pain. I never looked forward to the shot cause of all those side effects.

    We will be thinking of you Jerri. We know you are there. We love you and hopefully will see you next time we meet. January 5th, 2009. I will call you sometime soon.

    Jerri: I used a generic stool softener when I was in your boat, which helped some. Then a few days later - the opposite problem! And I can relate to the heartburn also, and to the post-Neulasta bone pain. Hang in there, sweetie - you WILL feel better in a few days. We'll be thinking of you on Monday and looking forwrd to meeting you when you feel better.

    Thanks for the encouraging words Sue. I feel So Weak now. It is Horrible. If only could sleep in one position and just go to the bathroom ALL would be GRAND!! I think I haven't really felt the Cancer Pain so much until now. I know that sounds out of place but really feeling it now.

    Your Hang in there Sweetie was a Bright Note!! Thank You Again,

    Welcome Firstmate,

    I live in the Ahwatukee Foothills as well. I didn't make it to the Social since Bad Bone Pain with Chemo last week and in the ER yesterday.

    I am another Ahwatukee resident!  I also couldn't make the dinner tonight but hope to make one of the other events.  I am 4 weeks out from my last chemo and am actually feeling pretty good but I just wasn't sure I would be up to a night out so didn't want to commit.

    First Mate - where are you being treated?  Banner Desert also has a BC support group and there is another group called Bosum Buddies that meets by the Chandler Regional Hospital once a month on Saturday mornings. I have only made one of their meetings and have never made it to the Banner Desert group though I got on their email list.

    I think January 5th is the next date that this group was going to try and get together.

    Welcome ALL!!!

    The next Group Social is Jan. 5th. I plan on going.

    I've never heard of Bosum Buddies. My Doctors office does have Support Groups as well but I have not been able to attend. I go to Ironwood Cancer and Research Center next to Chandler Hosp.

    Tamara have you had Radiation yet?? This might be my last post for this day since we are only allowed a certain amount so if you want you can PM me. Also what kind of Chemo are you on???

    Glad to have some Neighbors!

    I'm sorry I had to miss it.  I just had too many appts on Monday and by the time I was done, I would have had a terrible time with traffic trying to get there.  Not to mention, if I have a busy day, I'm exhausted.  Have you guys found that after surgery?  Before I could do tons of things and now I can go and do one or two errands and then I'm tired beyond tired and I'm not sleeping well anymore.

     Anyhow, it looks like we are moving on the 6th so I doubt I can make the Jan 5th one.  But I will keep you posted.  We are in the middle of selling our house and now that the buyer knows we are moving, she is reconsidering purchasing our house.  :(   (We were gonna rent it from her but have changed our minds to move closer to my dh's work.)

     I have my Oncology appt on Friday with the new one.  I rather imagine he will want to start the following Friday (12th) but I will know more on Friday.

    Oh thank you very much Elizabeth.  I turn 35 tomorrow Yell

     I went and saw new Oncologist today and it looks like I may start Chemo next Friday.  They found some suspicious areas on my back that they want an MRI done to determine what it is.  And I will be doing the TAC treatment if anyone knows what that is!

    Anyhow, I'm off. I will be at the Wellness Community tomorrow at the Look Good Feel Good Program and then staying afterwards to participate in their support/networking groups at 1pm then dinner with the hubbers to celebrate my birthday.  Have a great weekend all!

    Hi All,   I enjoyed our get together Mon eve and hope to meet more of you next month.  I got both drains removed this week.  Had a clot in the picc line but the nurse was able to declot it after 2 hours.  I was sure it was gonna be a faulty catheter cuz nothing has gone smoothly so far.  I definetly feel like that 1 percent.  Hopefully I can have the expanders put back in next month.

    Jerri, Hang in there girl....your problem free day is coming

    Amira, Happy Birthday....did you have a great dinner?

    Elizabeth....how was your week?  how are you feeling?

    Hugs to all, Karen

    Proud,

    I had the TAC chemo regime - taxotere, adrimyician, cytoxin.  I was fortunate to have tolerated it fairly well with few SE - fatigue and some nausea for 3-4 days after tx and low white blood counts so I was on both Neulasta and Neupogen shots. But, I continued to work full-time throughout - only taking a few days off after each tx.  Hope your tx go well and the MRI shows nothing serious.

    I've just learned that I have a high grade benign tumor in the same breast that I had stage 0 DCIS in 7 years ago.  I have an appointment with my surgeon in a couple of weeks.  Would like to join a support group, but not sure how to find one.  Any ideas?  Does anyone have advise or knowledge about a benign tumor turning cancerous?  Would like to attend your next get-together.  Please let me have details.
