Hi buds -
I am getting ready to fly off before dawn to be with family for Thanksgiving. Didn't want anyone to worry about me. I'll be home late Sat., have Sunday and then leave Monday morning for treatment in LA. I have not yet even begun to pack. But I did manage to fix myself a huge Chinese Chicken Salad for dinner, Had a bun with it too. I am all about eating these days, It's awful.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I still feel so blessed!

I prefer a margarita with some really good tequila and on the rocks. Sylvia I think you me and Susan should go have a few. Chili's has the best margarita's I have had in a long time. They are way to expensive though.
-
Ok Sylvia..is this a cosmo??
how come we didn't know it was your #60??? That is a biggie!!
And this is for Brenda...
Brenda..can I come along and be the DD??
Lisa...I am sure you are looking forward to seeing your family ...before dawn is a little too much for me, but I am sure you will enjoy the embrace of them...Not much turn around time for you, but maybe that is better.. you will be in our thoughts...
Hugs, SoCal
-
Chevy's also has really good Margaritas - but if we go to old town, we can get a pitcher for the same price & after a few, who cares what it tastes like?
SoCal - you are official DD for us. When can we start ...
-
I KNEW you could do it....
that is a great looking COSMO!!!! I was laughing hysterically when I came to check and no kidding---my mouth was watering!!!
I'll meet you all wherever-!!!
Happy Turkey Day---I've got to get to work now and will be cooking for everyone tomorrow!!

SD ladies rock! Happy thanksgiving to all. Since this is my week off chemo, I look forward drinking just about anything .. lol
. Thankful to be thankful.
Jeanne
PS Liz, how do you capture the photos and reproduce on this site?? They are great.
-
Liz yes please be our DD. A picture of margaritas could be fun.
Happy Thanksgiving!
See if the turkey wants to have a few.
-
Hi Jeanne:...
You have to download your own pictures into something like photobucket.( it is free) or use some of theirs...then when you get the file in, you will have a choice of four things, choose the direct link then right click on it.. come here and click on the little tree above the post and where it says image URL you paste in the link from photobucket...
BMD, I think the turkey will join in a few...it looks like it is willfully checking out the cosmo he has in his right foot...
-
Liz - did you get any photos of the great clouds we had today?
-
Hi Ladies -
I just found this thread and I live in Chula Vista. Looks like such a very fun group. I haven't read through the entire thing yet but got as far as the Cosmo and the Margarita!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
-
Hi Pageroo..I live in Bonita..small world...
you must come and join our wonderful group...
Susan...no I didn't get any photos of the beautiful sky today...I was
inside doing crunge work...
-
hey you guyz - I am up for some margaritas or other libations on Sunday!. Could be mighty different from our brunches! SoCal, that is very generous of you to be our designated driver - but I can see a problem with your having to traipse all over the county. Maybe we could have a sleep-over at my place!! I could really benefit from some major distraction that evening. Of course, my place is probably the tiniest of all our homes. There's even a Chili's 5 min. away. For that matter, Old Town is only 10 min. Anyway, keep me in the loop!
Lisa (remotely reporting in from San Francisco)
-
Lisa, I am glad you made it safely up there, even if you
had to leave at o'dark thirty...when are you coming home?
-
Liz, I'll be home about nine on Sat. evening.
I almost didn't make it - taxicab came and went. I said I'd be ready at 5am, he showed up at 10 of five. Went out the door in the dark and no taxi! Serendipitously my neighbor leaves to go to the ASW Base in Pt.Loma at 5am. I'm going to make him a BIG batch of Killer Brownies one day soon, for saving me!

Pageroo-welcome to the club. Can't wait to meet you.
LisaSDCA-Glad you got up there safe. It has been raining here all night now.
I have some really bad news. My dh's brother died early this morning from a massive heart attack. He was only 52. I am waiting for dh to get home from the hospital now. He is a wreck to say the least. Now he has lost his brother and his father. Telling the kids is going to be awful. My oldest adores his uncle. I didn't know where else to go or who to talk to in the middle of the night so I came here and to the Circle at the Gina's site. You are such a part of my family. My mom was admitted to the hospital yesterday in New York. She was having terrible pain around her kidneys. They did a ct scan but we don't know anything yet.
I know He only gives us as much as we can take but sometimes you just have to wonder how much that will be.
-
Oh Brenda, I am so terribly sorry about your brother in law. What a nightmare for all of you. And I am praying that your Mom will be ok and that they don't find anything scary. It could "just" be kidney stones or some such. I will be thinking of you and your family. I am glad you have safe places to go in the middle of the night.
Lisasdca, glad you are safely with family. Have a wonderful few days. If you want to meet Sunday for dinner or drinks, I will make every effort to make it. I can certainly understand wanting some distraction that evening. I have to be at work at 6 am Monday so can't drink myself into oblivion, but I can watch the rest of you do so! Traffic will be tough, so maybe Old Town would be a decent choice.
To all my SD sisters, original and new, have a sweet day. You have all enriched my life so much, and are one of my many Thanksgiving blessings this year.

Brenday, I'm so sorry to hear about your BIL. My condolences to you and your family. And I will be praying for your mother to be alright. What a tough Thanksgiving--I'm sorry.
-
Brenda - My sympathies for your loss - those are cute little boys - I hope they don't forever associate their uncle's death with the holidays. And here's hoping your mom is ok.
As far as drinking on Sunday goes - I'd love to, but I will still be on a plane flying back from Savannah (I'll take pictures if I can find the charger for my camera battery ...) However since it was only $200 more to fly first class, I'll toast you all as I fly over! And if we do ever want to do this, I have a guest bed, a comfortable couch, and given enough warning can go to my storage locker for the camping bed & the blowup mattresses.
Pageroo - this is a good group - it's the only good thing to come out of this horrible mess we are all in. Welcome.
Well all of you out there, have a wonderful holiday. It's my favorite all year - no gifts, no hidden meanings, just good friends and/or family and good food.
-
Oh, Brenda- what a tragedy! I'm sure you and your family are shaken to the core. Let's hope this serves to draw everyone closer in both grief, and eventuaaly fond memories. Right now the raw shock - and the need to tell your boys - must be overwhelming.
Pageroo - welcome to the San Diego group! Truly, as Susan says (guitar girl) it is a wonderful side effect of this miserable disease. I look forward to meeting you!
Ah, Susan - Savannah! It (and Charleston and New Orleans) is one of my favorite Southern cities. Flying 1st Class is defintely the way to go! We'll have to make an opportunity to have drinks together a semi-regular thing. Melia - thank you for making every effort to come, too. I really wouldn't expect it to go very late at all - I'm having that drive to LA in the morning.
The happiest of Thanksgiving Days to all! May you be surrounded by love and blessings!
Lisa
-
Lisa - as soon as you get home & are up for it - I'm there. I'll even bring the drinks to you.
-
Thank you all for your love and prayers. We are muttling through all that has to be done. Dh's family is arriving tomorrow.
-
Sending as many hugs as possible Brenda...
-
Anyone going to the Jazz Festival tomorrow??
-
Hello all---So sorry to hear Brenda about your brother in law----52 is so young....I was told about a book and read it about 2 months ago and my husband just finished it today---It is called "THE SHACK"---I think it is something that is helpful at this time---All my best to you and your family Brenda and to all you GIRLS!!
Sylvia

Hi ladies,
Hope everyone had a peaceful, uneventful (that's good) Thanksgiving.
Welcome Pageroo - I'm new, too. Last month I met some of the wonderful ladies on this thread for the first time.
LisaSDCA - my thoughts are with you and I hope that all goes well tomorrow and the rest of this week.
Brenda - my deepest condolences on the loss of your BIL. I lost my brother on Thanksgiving Day many years ago - my kids were little - but it has never affected their future Thanksgiving holidays. I think kids are often so much more resiliant than us older folk.
Best to all - stay clear of the crazies this time of year!
Jeanne

Hope you all had a great turkey day---I do not want to go back to work tomorrow---have really just hung around the house and been lazy --doing this and that---and planning my x-mas,cards,etc.
Pageroo---you are welcome to join us---i was clicking around and saw another of your posts where you had asked about special creams...? Dr Eva Lean who did my radiation (on Sycamore in Vista) recommended ANDRASINA products and I thought they were great. Kinda expensive and who knows if it makes a huge difference but you can take a look at http://www.andrasina.com and maybe they give samples!
Sylvia
