Oh please Shirley.  Its not that anybody despises you, they simply despise your opinions. And I have never lied, not once.  Show me where I have, except that the moderators have deleted all of my posts.  They must be Republicans LOL.  The same mentality.  Very childlike.

Looks like in addition to Geithner, Larry Summers may still be in the running for a position, specifically Ben Bernanke's job.

President elect Obama will be addressing the economy Monday, I think.

I hope it is the most uplifting speech of his life---these markets need some reassurance.

Obama may consider Summers as Fed chief: Democrat

    Fri Nov 21, 2008 6:10pm EST

CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Barack Obama may consider Lawrence Summers as a successor to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, whose term expires in January 2010, a Democratic source told Reuters on Friday.

The New York Times reported that Summers, a former treasury secretary, is likely to be named as an economic adviser to Obama with the expectation that he will eventually be tapped for the Federal Reserve Board.

Citing two sources familiar with the Obama transition, the newspaper also said Summers could perhaps succeed Bernanke.

Two nights ago, David Letterman, in interviewing Katie Couric, described Gov. Palin as  "the first vice presidential candidate that I found myself being aroused about."

It is ghastly that this kind of discourteous, indecent talk should pass for conversational fodder -- even on late night TV.

This violates CBS's own "Program Practices" specifically states that: "The Program Practices editors review material for excessive or gratuitous violence, sexuality, nudity and inappropriate language.  They ensure that character portrayals are sensitive to current ethnic, religious, sexual and other significant social concerns."  http://www.cbspressexpress.com/div.php/cbs_network/page/program_practices

A violation?  What do *you* think?

Well, don't just think it!  Make your voice heard.

    Email the Federal Communications Commission!

Email http://us.mc575.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=fccinfo@fcc.gov, tell them your name, where you are from, and EXACTLY how you feel about Letterman taking indecent liberties with a dignified lady, mom, and governor on his show!

Looks like trolls are not restricted to bc.org website:

A message to all members of Team Sarah

    Hello Team!

There's a little confusion developing, and we'd like to help clarify a bit.

"Trolls" are what our webster calls people who invade the site with a malicious intention to disrupt things.

Now, the spirit of Team Sarah is one of common decency and common courtesy.

A troll is someone who behaves indecently or discourteously -- even mischievously or maliciously.

The terms of use here are clear.  Anyone who engages in hateful, bigoted, racist, sexist or inappropriate conversations is unwelcome.

And will be removed from the site.

But just because a person espouses opposing views does not make him or her a troll.

(Attacking Gov. Palin, is antithetical to the spirit of this team and will not be tolerated.  This is, after all, Team Sarah!)

So if you come across someone who is expressing beliefs with which you disagree, but doing so with decency and courteously, just ignore them.  Or gently try to guide them towards more informed views.  Or even make friends with them, if they seem likable.  (Takes all kinds.)  Just don't call them trolls or anyother names, OK?

If someone is truly causing trouble, then please do not hesitate to report them to the moderators.

    Go Team!  More news soon!

Moody, I saw the same clip.  And, I believe last night he was still ranting about Sarah.  Letterman is an idiot.  I don't watch his show and never will.  What he said was not funny and I don't think Couric thought it was either.  I'll let my thoughts be known.

            Ode to a troll

Once I met upon the cyber field

A troll who mouth could not be sealed

I thrice challenged with wit and expected the same

to test his intelligence, his wit and his shame

I found he was lacking more than a bit

With a smallness of mine and dullness of wit

He claims I reported him to the mod

But to me he is really less than sod

I will speak of him no more from this day

But join Shirley in saying shoo shoo away

    Hi Shirley,

Cam is fine, sort a.  We got confused, back to Houston for what we thought would be 6 wks of Radiation.  But Radiogist refused to do it based upon the  amount of toxcity it would require.  So now we have the Surgeon not willing to do Surgery, the radiologist not willing to do rads, partly because the chemo has harmed her hearth.  But Chemo is the only thing she will get.  The good news is the chemo has done great and there is no sign of cancer on scans or markers.

So back home now and will go back week after next to try to come up with plan.

Great news about no sign of cancer.  You don't need me to tell you that chemo is so toxic.

Again I know you are so glad to be home.  Those trips can zap the energy out of ya.  Not only physically, but mentally.

Let us know what plan will be next.  Give Cam our love.

     Shirley,

    Trolls are:

"Supernatural creature of Scandinavian folklore, variously portrayed as a friendly or mischievous dwarf or as a giant, that lives in caves, in the hills, or under bridges."

Obviously you are not a troll, or if you are a friendly troll.

    Here is some good news:

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, the eldest son -- and heir apparent -- of Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi, said he'd like to see "shock treatment" democratization in his country, while his father wants a slower pace.

The younger Gadhafi has been credited for steering his father toward a path of normalized relations between Libya and the United States after years of tension and conflict. In this decade, Libya has renounced weapons of mass destruction and cooperated on intelligence matters with the United States.

The Libyan leader's son met Thursday in Washington with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He described his talk with her as a courtesy visit and not a formal meeting. The two discussed Russia, Georgia, piracy in Somalia and other global issues. Rice was "a smart lady with great knowledge," he said.

The visit with Rice and a phone call this week between U.S. President George W. Bush and his father, who has ruled Libya since 1969, signify "a celebration and a turning of the page," Gadhafi said.

Relations between the two countries, never very steady, deteriorated after a three-year investigation into the December 21, 1988, bombing of Pan American Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, that ended with indictments for murder against two Libyans.

The bombing killed 270 people aboard the jet and on the ground.

The United Nations imposed sanctions on Libya, and eventually negotiated the surrender of the two suspects. One of the two was acquitted, but Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, a Libyan intelligence officer and the head of security for Libyan Arab Airlines at the time, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 27 years in prison by a panel of Scottish judges.

Don't Miss Libya pays $1.5B to settle terrorism claims Libya later complied with the U.N. requirements for having the sanctions lifted. Those requirements included accepting responsibility for the attack and providing compensation to the families of the victims. The north African nation has now been a member of the U.N. Security Council for two years. However, Gadhafi repeated Libyan insistence that it had "nothing to do with Lockerbie," saying that Libya made the agreements it did -- including paying $1.5 billion to the victims' families -- to escape sanctions.Recent agreements clearing up the final legal wrangling over the settlement have opened Libya to the possibility of using its billion-dollar investment fund on "big opportunities" in the United States, Gadhafi said, even though the world is embroiled in a "financial tsunami.""It's a very serious financial crisis," he said. "No one knows anything. Everything has been upside down."Libya is awash in oil money, although it has been impacted by the dramatic fall in oil prices recently, Gadhafi said. The crisis, he said, is larger than what the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is used to dealing with."We are concerned, of course, because we are exporting oil to Western states, and whether it is a depression or a recession, it is going to effect oil prices," Gadhafi said.Although the economic downturn is bad for everyone, Gadhafi said, it does create opportunities for investment. Gadhafi said the Libyan leadership will seek to invest in its own country in infrastructure, health, education and police sectors and is inviting more American companies to come to Libya for business, especially in the oil, gas, and construction business.Gadhafi, educated in Western schools, also said he'd like to see more Libyans able to seek education abroad. He said they could benefit from studying in the United States, which he called a "great country."

Shirley, go see the turkey video ...  no blood, no turkeys running around.  Actually, it's humane, nothing to see folks, keep moving. I really don't understand the outrage.  But again, I was raised that way... our family was in the cattle business and we supported alot of 4H kids ... who raise their animals, groom them and then have to sell them to be slaughtered.  That's where our meat comes from.

Another former occupation of mine.  I once had a turkey farm (ranch?) any way I raised 10,000 turkeys per batch.  They are dumbest creatures ever to walk this earth, (sort of like a liberal on steroids(:     I don't eat turkey to this day, raised cattle too, still love a great steak.

IBC, I love turkey, but do not want it for Thanksgiving AND Christmas..LOL

Okay, Rocktobermom, I watched it.  Actually, if you look at it (boy am I going to be in trouble for saying this!), it looks like a commedy routine.  It's kinda comical watching the guy in back of her..looking at Palin and dumpting the poor headless turkey in that cone thingy.

I don't think Palin asked to be interviewed at the "turkey farm."  It's a way of life there.  Her dad took her hunting as a kid.  If my dad had taught me early in life to KILL animals I probably would be able to do it today..but not pups, kitties..domestic animals.

One thing about Palin, she sure has intrigued people.  THEY are the ones keeping her in the News.  So why all the whining and temper tantrums?  If ya don't like her don't listen to her and don't watch her at turkey farms!  LOL

You raised "10,000 turkeys".  And you claim to be an expert in the common law?  LOL

So did you take those turkeys and stuff them in those small cages on top of each other.  You must be a real humanitarian.  I see why you are a Republican diehard.

Palin is just grasping for those last few minutes of the spotlight isn't she.  Her hopes for a career on the national scene are over.  Too many people see her for the joke she is but she just can't accept it.  She made a total ass of herself in that SNL skit and in the publics mind forever more will be her swaying her arms in the air to that song.  Shes a joke.  Get over it already.

Geez ... It's not about the "turkey" thing .. or whether we eat turkeys or like them or not.

What politician would allow her/himself to be interviewed in that setting???  If she's thinking about national politics in the future, she needs to start thinking and acting like someone aware of her surroundings and what impact that may have on her future.

Bin, she was invited to some event at that turkey farm.  Reporters were covering the event. There was nothing wrong in my opinion about what was going on ...  did you see the video?  There was no headless turkey running around, no men chasing turkeys with a hatchet, it was not a blood and guts video.

    Hi Rock,

Yep .. saw the video.  Wouldn't comment on something I hadn't seen.  I still believe that if she wants to compete in the national arena, she should pick and choose her media events more carefully.  For example, I don't think you'd see Jindal doing an interview at a turkey farm.

I'm not slamming Palin, turkey farms or hunting .. just making a point about politico's and their choice of interviews or where they choose to be seen and heard.

My dad taught me to hunt when I was little (no stranger to guns of all kinds) .. but if I was a 2012 hopeful, and just lost the 2008 election, I think I'd decline that specific venue for an interview.

If she wants to look like the future leader of the republican party, she might be better served being interviewed or photographed behind her desk or at some committee meeting.

So, are you saying she shouldn't have attended the event?  If she shouldn't then she would be changing the kind of Governor she was, the person who was down to earth, accessible. I would hate to see her have advisors and image counselors.  I don't think she'd be a good pick for 2012 anyway.  I'd like to see a strong business person with solid economics in their backround.

And what to say to reporters that are there covering the event?  No comment?

The thing I like so much about Sarah Palin is the fact she ISN'T "staged", she is real.  The problem with politicians  (and a lot of people in general) is that they "cover up" the real self by being fake.

She is real and I believe this makes her more able to relate to us "common folk" LOL .  She is not an "untouchable".

Perhaps Mrs. Palin didn't know this would be put on YouTube.  Good grief!  I agree with Moody and Roctobermom she doesn't need to be changed.  We don't get all upset when we see a man carrying a deer or something else he killed.  We feel badly for the deer, but certainly don't think of HIM as disgusting or that it would ruin his political career.  This is Sarah Palin..plain and simple.  Many Americans (I didn't) gave the president a pass when having an affair or whatever you call it..it was his personal life..this is Sarah Palin's personal life.  If Sarah Palin cheated on her husband would we give her a pass?  I believe the only reason why most women on this board is mad with John Edwards is because his wife has stage IV breast cancer.  It's time to stop harping on Sarah's hunting of animals.  I wouldn't do it, but I'm not Sarah Palin.

Edited to say cuz I can't keep my big mouth shut...The MSM sure didn't give Palin any passes.  Made sure they criticized her dd being pregnant.  Women on the other thread did the same.  If one has children one knows that BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I!  People ridiculed her for running for VP because she had a special needs child.  People ridiculed Palin because she had a large family she should be taking care of.  I'm am sick to death of people and women on this board who cannot give up Palin...she's not the VP...she's not the Prez.  She's the Governor of Alaska and her people love her.

    Nuff said.

Okay, I just watched the video.  Oh my it broke my heart!  I just dont think she realized what the man in the background was doing at that moment.  I think she was set up.  She does have too much class to do an interview with a turkey struggling for its life in the back ground.  The guy was OBVIOUSLY doing this on purpose.  He keeps looking at the camera and laughing.  He KNEW what he was doing, I dont think SHE knew what he was doing.

I really wished I hadnt watched it now.  I mean I know that this stuff happens and I eat the meat, I just prefer to not think about the details.  I like my little fairy tale world of turkey and chicken and pig and cow just EVOLVE into my dinner......LOL $$

The other thread posed a question:

Who would you like to talk to at a Cocktail Party:  Bill Clinton, McCain, Obama or Cheney.

    Here is my answer:

At a cocktail party ... I'd like to talk to Bill Clinton, find out what he thought would help America get back on track,  but I don't think I'd ever be friends with either Clinton ... I do think they are liars.  Obama? Hmm... I think I would start talking about MLK and slaves and how proud people are of him and start crying (just because I didn't vote for him doesn't mean I don't see and think this is a huge moment in history) ...  so no, I'd avoid embarrassing myself.  Sorry, I think he is a liar too so I would not want to be friends in real life with him. Again, just because they lie doesn't mean that they will automatically be a bad president.   Cheney, I'd probably throw a drink in his face for getting us in so much trouble and for the wars. Obviously I would NEVER want to be friends with the money grubbing Cheney.  McCain?  I'd like to see how he is going to finish his term as a Senator and what's next.  The McCains sound like nice people and Cindy has done some good work in poor nations, I'd like to be friends with her.
