Rosemary Thanks!
Rocktobermom I agree. It was as if McCain was trying to lose but unfortunately never told Palin that. If I can easily find all the documented lies Obama told, how hard would have been for him too? And I dont care if Obama is black, white, or pink, McCain should have gone after him. On the other hand, now Obama can take the blame for everything congress does.......
ibcspouse your little dog is soooooo precious! Brightened my day!
luannH they're all to blame. it is a government conspiracy to keep you sleeping so that the aliens they have been hiding in Nevada since 1950's can do top experiments on your brain. your sleepy,,,,,,,very sleepy,,,,,,go to sleep,,,,,,,,,go to sleep,,,,,,,your eyes are getting heavy,,,,,,,
Paulette even though Obama lied about studying Islam, this may actually come in handy for him now. This is why I couldnt understand why he would want to lie about it, the more he knows about the "enemy" the more power he has over them..........unless of course he too is the enemy........
SherriG I find it totally ridiculous that the top executives of GM, Ford & Chrysler had the audacity to show up in Washington yesterday via private jets and GM's CEO refused to answer Good Morning America's questions today about why he's still taking a $28 million/year salary plus perks when the company is laying people off and threatening to close. Just think of how many people's salaries could be kept going for a while if he alone gave up his salary for even 1 year.
If you think that there should be reform in these companies in return for consideration of any bailout e-mail your congressman. To e-mail them go to: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/ and put in your zip code to find your reps/contact them.
All three CEOs - Rick Wagoner of GM, Alan Mulally of Ford, and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler - exercised their perks Tuesday by flying in corporate jets to DC. Wagoner flew in GM's $36 million luxury aircraft to tell members of Congress that the company is burning through cash, asking for $10-12 billion for GM alone.
"We want to continue the vital role we've played for Americans for the past 100 years, but we can't do it alone," Wagoner told the Senate Banking Committee.
While Wagoner testified, his G4 private jet was parked at Dulles airport. It is one of eight luxury jets in the GM fleet that continues to ferry executives around the world despite the company's dire financial straits.

What exactly does a CEO do to acheive millions of dollars in salaries? Inquiring minds want to know.
-
Enjoyed catching up. I'm gettting ready to take a shower and go to the Endodontist. Wish me luck!
If they bail out the auto companies I'm gonna be (can't cuss anymore) MAD! Not angry -- MAD! I bet they kept that jet running so it would be nice and cozy when the execs got back in it. Makes me plum sick! And I believe it's the dems that want to give them the money, istn't it? I mean they want the union to continue to vote for them.
LuAnn, I think Moody had it right...it's the government! Never thought of a conspiracy theory.
Catch ya'll later.

-
Summer...NOTHING! Have parties, fly around in expensive jets, eat lobster and fancy hor dourves, drink $500 bottle of wine, and I don't have time to name the rest...ask Moody -- shell find out the truth!

Its pretty clear that Bush accepted the intelligence that supported his own mindset and ignored everything else. I shudder to think what would have happened if Bush had been in the White-house during the Cuban Missile crisis. Obama, you can be sure, would never jump the gun by getting us into a war. He would be very, very deliberative.
-
LOL Shirley, you may want to have your mouth scanned when you leave endodontist, that micro-chip the gov put in your mouth keeps track of all your moves and conversations..........
-
Actually, I think the dem ladies are against bailing out the )UAW as well. I think when you give dollar you get something back: maybe a hotdog, maybe shoes or how about shares & a right to reorganize GM?
We might need GM & Ford or Chrysler to build our tanks or other military vehicles but we don't need all 3.
$78 per hr? Private jets? Lavish parties? Multi-million $ salaries? I will write my senators & congressmen!!!!!!!!!! -
"What exactly does a CEO do to acheive millions of dollars in salaries? Inquiring minds want to know."
Well one of them makes cars that no one wants and we should be sure to give them more money to keep that going. Maybe they get that bonus if they produce so many cars, even if they don't sell.
-
When I read about all the Clinton people Obama is asking to be involved in his administration, I'm thinking while he's at it, why doesn't he just ask Bill to sit in for him in the Oval office? He can't ask Joe, he's still looking for that restaurant he eats in all the time that's been closed for 20 years.
-
Rosemary, you're too funny. However, I agree...Bill would make a pretty good substitute. He may be around instead of "out of the office..vote present" when Obama wouldn't be. Oh, unless he decides to do another personal matter...a Monica Lewinsky.
And Biden will be too busy closing the coal mines.

Moody, I think you may be right about having a chip implanted in my mouth. I swear the aliens arrived after Obama won. I think my phone is tapped! I can no longer say negative things about Obama. Oops, we're also being followed on our compters.
I DIDN'T NEED ANY ROOT CANALS this time. That was one of my Christmas presents. Just need some expensive crowns. However, that's better than having both done.
Our other Christmas present...we have a store called Harris Teeter. My dh bought a half ham the other day for Thanksgiving. I looked at the date and it was two days past their "sell by" date. I told him to take it back. He does what I tell him to do..LOL Anyway, they have a policy..DOUBLE YOUR MONEY BACK. So.....he got a FREE ham AND $17.00 in his pocket.
No root canals necessary and a free ham plus cash. I call that WONDERFUL!

After they close the coal mines and drive our electric bills to the moon, we can find Obama on a ladder dismantling our nukes with Joe turning the ladder.

Interesting conversation and view of election with Shelby Steele.

Sherry, he basically said he was a black who does the bidding of whites & that he is the opposite of HONORABLE black men...The al qaida person is just scum. Obviously he is trying to incite BO..... $$$
-
So then I am assuming al-qaida is racist? and they call US racist!! seems like liberals and our middle-east enemies are more concerned about BO's color than any republican! $$$
-
Moody, the experts over there <------------------------ will be the judge of who is more racist. LOl! $$$
-
I just wonder what the Democrats will do, especially the ACLU and the Jesse Jacksons of the land: what do they think of the al-Qaeda attacking Obama's race and honor? It actually fired me up that they would stoop to that level but I realize that is what they are counting on. But it probably unifies whites around Obama ... that you can't do that to one of us .. like picking on your brother, it's ok if you do it but not an outsider!
-
The auto makers might not get the money, at least for right now. I can't seem to get the full jist of what's going on. It sounds like the democrats don't seem too impressed with what they're doing to pull in spending. Right now, it's impossible for the automakers to be competitive because of the salaries and benefits they have to pay out which makes the cost of cars higher than Toyota and Honda. To be competitive they'd have to sell each car at a loss, or small profit, so why invest our money in that business? They make money by volume sales and they don't have that going for them now or in the immediate future.
If they go into bankruptcy, they can restructure wages and benefits, get rid of lines that don't sell, (I would hope that would be the first order of business for a Trustee) and get their act together.
I worked for a company that went into bankruptcy. First we were let go, then re-hired back under the new plan. They had inventory to move out, so they needed us. The same can happen for the automakers. I can tell you there is one CEO that needs to get his head screwed on correctly. I don't know which one he is, but manufacturing 30 product lines that don't sell, or make a profit. What planet does he live on?
-
The Planet where CEO's etc. of a bankrupt company take $28 million salaries~~and let their pensioneers starve.
-
Sooooooooooooooo...do you think Pelosi will have the cajones (sp) to push the bail out for the auto makers...LMAO! $$$$ And I wonder what BO thinks of Alqueda now? Maybe he should try a "sit down" talk with Bin Laden! That might solve a lot of problems! $$$$$! I guess it's like Condi said, history hasn't been written yet! Again, LMAO! I wonder how those sour grapes taste? I think I will send an email about how much I need for a bail out, do you think it will be considered?
-
Change you can believe in! I wonder if Monica will get an appointment?
Dems: Napolitano emerges for Homeland Security job
WASHINGTON - Democratic officials say that Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano is a leading contender for the job of secretary of homeland security in President-elect Barack Obama's administration.
These officials caution that no final decision has been made on the job involving the massive department created by the Congress in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States.
The officials agreed to discuss the situation on grounds of anonymity because of the private nature of the screening process for Obama's Cabinet. Napolitano, who once was Arizona's attorney general, was among the first of the Democratic governors to commit to Obama's presidential bid.
WASHINGTON (AP) - President-elect Barack Obama promised the voters change, but he has started his Cabinet selection process by naming several Washington insiders to top posts.
Obama is enlisting former Senate leader Tom Daschle as his health secretary. Hillary Rodham Clinton seemed more likely than ever to be his secretary of state. Clinton is deciding whether to take that post as America's top diplomat, her associates said Wednesday.
Obama is ready to announce that his attorney general will be Eric Holder, the Justice Department's No. 2 when Clinton's husband was president. Rahm Emanuel, Obama's chief of staff, is another veteran of the Clinton White House.
A few names that have bubbled up for Cabinet posts don't have strong Clinton connections. Several news organizations reported Thursday that Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano is Obama's primary choice to be secretary of the Homeland Security Department. The New York Times, citing Democrats with knowledge of the process, said Napolitano was about to be offered the job. The Washington Post and The Politico Web site also reported that she was Obama's choice.
Chicago businesswoman Penny Pritzker, who was national finance chairman for Obama's presidential campaign, is his leading choice for commerce secretary, the Times reported. The newspaper said Pritzker was in the final stages of vetting by Obama's transition team.
Daschle's selection to head the Health and Human Services Department - confirmed Wednesday but not yet announced - isn't at the same level of Cabinet prestige as the top spots at the State and Justice departments. But the health post could be more important in an Obama administration than in some others, making Daschle a key player in helping steer the president-elect's promised health care reforms.
Daschle could push Obama for quick action on health care reform next year, if he follows his own advice.
Daschle said efforts during the Clinton administration, led by Hillary Clinton, took too long and went into too much detail, giving every interest group an opportunity to find something they didn't like about the plan.
"The next president should act immediately to capitalize on the goodwill that greets any incoming administration. If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it," Daschle wrote in a book he released this year, "Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis." "This issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol."
The former South Dakota senator's return to the government will be a vindication of sorts. He was the Senate Democratic leader when he was defeated in 2004 by Republican John Thune, who convinced voters back home that Daschle was more concerned with Washington than with them.
In fact, Daschle stayed in the capital city after his defeat, becoming a public policy adviser and member of the legislative and public policy group at the law and lobbying firm Alston & Bird. Daschle isn't registered as a lobbyist. He advises clients on issues including health care, financial services, taxes and trade, according to the firm's Web site.
Health care interests, including CVS Caremark, the National Association for Home Care and Hospice, Abbott Laboratories and HealthSouth, are among the firm's lobbying clients.
Daschle's appointment was not formally announced, but Democratic officials said the job was his barring an unforeseen problem as Obama's team reviews his background. One area of review will include the lobbying connections of his wife, Linda Hall Daschle, who has worked mostly on behalf of airline-related companies over the years. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Republicans sniped at what they saw as an unwelcome trend. Alex Conant, spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said, "Barack Obama is filling his administration with longtime Washington insiders."
-
Hmm. Penny Pritzker as national finance chair. Sounds like she would be perfect. She has had lots of experience planning all those fancy soirees, spending her family billions, as one of Chicago's leading socialites. She did bankroll Obama, so I can see how he owes her. Perhaps, she will be a big help when Michelle needs someone to help her plan those hollywood/white house parties, that we have missed so much in the past 8 years.
-
Shirley,
I am so glad that you don't need root canals! We don't have dental insurance. DH lost his when he retired. He had the option of purchasing a plan through Delta dental, but he opted out, since it's so expensive. Now he has found out that it is a really good plan, so he may go back and beg them to take us.
On the topic of health insurance, here's a news article about the National Health Plan... If they start that, I think it will be a BIG mistake! Looks like if we get that, the premiums will go UP even more, to the point where we won't be able to afford health insurance! JMHO

Ok ... it's just the link...
-
Perhaps you haven't heard about this one. It's an older story ...but I would like an update, especially since our U.S. Marines are still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
After the 2004 election the United Auto Workers were a bit upset about Bush's reelection. They took their angst out on our Marines. It seems that some Marine Corps reservists working at a base in Detroit were parking in the lot at the UAW Solidarity House. After the Bush reelection the UAW went into the parking lot looking for Marines driving foreign cars or cars with Bush bumper stickers. These Marines were told they were no longer welcome to park their cars on UAW property.
Now the UAW is pushing for a taxpayer-funded bailout of their employers. Marines, even Marines who drive foreign cars, are taxpayers. $$

Ok, I haven't been reading lately but been watching tv to see things going on. What do you all think of one of George Bush's last minute legacies he plans on signing in today so Obama can't reverse it. He is going to allow employers to check your health records before agreeing to employ you. As a breast cancer survivior you should all be OUTRAGED at this!!! It will be approved and in place which will take Obama time to get this undone. Unemployment is outrageous and having a health condition to stop you from getting a job is WRONG!!! That is not how this country was started and not what it is about! If he does this he sure will go out with a bang.
-
Last week, Senator Max Baucus introduced his plan for healthcare reform - similar to Obama's but making it illegal for you to be without health insurance. Somewhere in the Constitution Baucus has found a clause which states that the Imperial Federal Government can order citizens to buy things. If this is OK for health insurance, why not just solve this whole automobile mess right now by requiring every citizen to buy a Ford, Chevy or Chrysler?
http://baucus.senate.gov/newsroom/details.cfm?id=304933
And it starts......government control of our lives......$$$$

LuannH I dont think this is true- not saying it isnt- but here is the link that shows all executive orders on the table and what has been signed to date and I didnt see this on there. It might be there tomorrow though, just saying it isnt listed yet:
