Blame again I really don't believe you even think about what you are typing........how unAmerican to leave this Country?.........really.........how American can it be that anyone (that is not wanted by the law or contiguous by some disease is free to get a passport and leave this country........ask people that survive East Germany about freedom to leave their country or presently let's check with the North Koreans and how they feel about their country and their desire to leave......many are surviving by eating bark off of trees just for some food.....or the skyscrapers that are hollow shells where elevators only go to the fourth floor because the other 52 floors don't exist.....or the lady directing traffic in a big street below the hotel where there are absolutely no cars......she stands there all day directing imaginary automobiles........let's ask these people about the freedom to get a passport and even travel to South Korea to visit relatives they haven't seen in years.........actually it's very American to be able to pack your bags and relocate to where every you want as far as our side is concern for the most part......of course Moody is going to miss you..........Shokk oh and Suzfive of course a great post from you..........

Blaest2 (uugghhh cant believe I'm responding) it isnt a true "ban" on gay marriage. They did have it "legal" for a couple of months, but other than that, it has never been legal.
The problem with a lot of gay people is that they are very angry. I know this cause my brother is gay and he is a very angry person. They dont CHOOSE to be gay, and I am sure they are angry that they are because it is not "normal". Now I use the word normal, because of the laws of reproduction. It is almost like the homosexual community NEEDS this marriage thing to "justify" living an "alternative" lifestyle.
AND if it were "normal" this issue would have been resolved, I dont know, about 6000 years ago!!!!
So our democracy is based on the right to vote and the majority is suppose to "win". What I dont understand is why a judge can overturn what the PUBLIC votes against.
-
So Blame if you are going to do the blame game then I guess I should be able to blame former President Clinton the fact that I had to explain to my then 10 year old daughter what oral sex is and then when my then 15 year old daughter tells me that oral sex is really not sex then I guess that means that lesbians will never really be able to consummate their relationships or marriage for that matter according to Clintons definition of oral sex.........guess I could blame Carter for the 14.5 % interest rate on the first home I bought in '79..........or the gas lines at the time............for the 24 % inflation rate............jeez I am so glad for the enlightenment.........just don't know where us stupid arrogant Republicans would be if we didn't have you guys over there reminding us of our short comings..........Shokk
-
Or lets see I could stop blaming everyone I disagree with and take hold of my own life and be responsible for myself and stop with my narcissist behavior and stop blowing smoke up everyone's butt and instead of posting on a bc discussion board get up off my butt and do something to make it better..........hmmmmmmm..........to volunteer at my local political party's headquarters...........to stuff envelopes.......make phone calls..........I mean of course since I am too important to follow the rules.....I am excluded......I have to much important things to spew (I mean talk) and as everyone here knows me I will post anywhere I want to........since the mods don't know what they are doing and because they will not listen to what I have to say then to bad..........I am just too important and even if you gals don't appreciate what I have to say then too bad.........you guys are just losers.........oh and lets not forget stupid and close minded and only drink the kool aid......the RED koolaid
-
Sherri I consider myself a conservative which is a way of life........I consider Republican to be my political party.......there are Republicans that are not conservatives and Conservatives that are not Republican........I was very unhappy with McCain......he is not a conservative and I even doubt that he is Republican......I think he is more Conservative Democrat.........we as conservatives need to go ahead and decide whom is going to represent us in 012...........between the bias media and acorn we are going to have to change our strategy.......if I hear the phrase one more time about reaching across the isle I am going to have to wrap my head in duct tape to keep it from exploding.........we will not win elections by being moderate Republicans.......we need to stand firm in our Conservatism and embrace it and start the New Conservative movement now......imo........Shokk
-
The private group will be much better without a pathetic ma n who wants to bully women, a man whose sole purpose on this thread is to argue.... a person who refuses to abide by rules ... if Blaest played by the rules, he would not keep changing his name and we could ignore him.
I'm bullying you by expressing an opinion? I can just see Hillary whining about being bullied by Obama. Your complaint, by the way, is a real put-down to the women here because it assume they can easily be bullied on a message board of all things. To me they all seem to be able to take care of themselves.
So our democracy is based on the right to vote and the majority is suppose to "win". What I dont understand is why a judge can overturn what the PUBLIC votes against.Because we have a constitution that lays down certain fundamental rights that even the majority cannot usurp. If they could we would no longer have freedom of speech and expression. The right to burn the flag would have gone out the window long ago. Homosexuality and abortion would be illegal, punishable by death, etc. etc.
It is almost like the homosexual community NEEDS this marriage thing to "justify" living an "alternative" lifestyle.
You mean heterosexuals only get married to "justify" a "normal" lifestyle? I thought love had something to do with it. Silly me.
As for the rules, they do not exist unless they are enforced in an equitable and just manner. Selective enforcement is simply not going to cut it, not in my book anyway.

Well, I live in CA and the Prop 8 stuff has really gotten out of control! The "activists" are having a field day - I think those out stirring up trouble right now aren't even passionate about the issue necessarily- they see an opportunity to engage in protest-like behavior, and they jump on the bandwagon....the sad part is, I believe this is a big part of why 8 passed - they are the cause of their own demise - they just refuse to see it!
True story - our local elementary school was a polling place - the "no on 8" people sent "activists" to all of the polling places in town - at our school they disrupted school dropoffs, harassed parents - even assaulted one dad, shoved signs in people's faces etc...I know many who were indifferent/planning to vote no actually changed their vote based on this person's inappropriate behavior! The police were there off and on throughout the day -and the principal had to spend most of her day dealing with this idiot. As she left that afternoon, he screamed and swore at her (in the presence of children!), and scratched her car. She's pressing charges! Good for her!
I consider myself mostly a libertarian - and this prop wasn't really on my radar - but the behavior I witnessed was truly appalling - and it influenced my vote. The fact is voters passed this in 2000, and it was overturned by the 9th circuit court - they passed it again - and activists swear they will contest it. It's like reasoning with 2 year olds who throw fits until they get their way...
There was an article in USA today yesterday - Elton John explained why he feels redefining marriage is never going to get the public buy-in - he's a real proponent of civil unions, and reaffirms that gay couples have all of the same legal rights under a civil union as a marriage. It's refreshing to see a represenative of the gay community not using violence or destruction of property as a means of expressing their views with regards to prop 8!

Hi, I was reading and Sherri, your question made me stop and think a bit. I never thought to separate the two. But my answer is much like shokk's. I agree about McCain. He wasn't my choice in the primaries.
-
Well, Shokk, I managed to get through the "filth" of the video you posted. I've heard the "f" word before. LOL Yep, and sometimes I a bit passionate. I received an email last night from a "friend." Don't know why she sent it to me. She's an Obama voter. Anyway, it was about the lawsuit over Obama's birth certificate. I had seen the video before and wondered why she sent it to me when she couldn't even view it..her puter won't let her. I think I know why. The person who sent it to her said that the two candidates were asked to show their birth certificates and only one did. I assume she thought it was Obama. Anyway, I sent her an reponse and something else to read. She comes back ALL indignant...Obama won...he never brought race into this campaign...if he were not black these emails wouldn't be going around...yada yads...WELL, the PASSIONATE ONE let her HOLD it. She thought this election was over...well, why, I asked her, did she send me the email she sent. I'm telling ya gals, I let her have and I didn't say I'd have lunch with her. I told her more than once that she insulted me...Can I cuss now!!!!?

I know Sherri.....so called "news".

"we would no longer have freedom of speech and expression. The right to burn the flag would have gone out the window long ago. Homosexuality and abortion would be illegal, punishable by death, etc. etc."
Okay, this is a strecth even for you. The only ones wanting to do away with freedom of speech are the dems with their fairness doctrine. The only reason someone would want to burn the flag is to show hatred for this country. And where on earth did you come up with death for homosexuals? By the way, abortion is death...........
You mean heterosexuals only get married to "justify" a "normal" lifestyle?
Uh, no...DUH....marriage is defined as "positive mutual agreement, permanent and exclusive of all others, to enterinto a marriage relationship, cohabitation sufficient to warrant a fulfillment of necessary relationship of man and wife, and an assumption of marital duties and obligations"So I have no problem with homosexuals entering into a "civil union" and have it recognized by the government as a legal binding contract and affording same rights as a marriage license does, but that isnt good enough for the gay community. They want the definition of marriage to be re-written to validate their lifestyle, thus making them feel justified. -
I am a conservative. I wanted Mike Huckabee. When McCain got nomination, I waited til dems had their candidate to decide what I was gonna do. I spent HOURS on Obamas website reading all his "plans". I only agreed with three of his, I agreed with 8 of mccains. So I went with the one I most agreed with.
-
SerriG, sad thing is Obama REALLY did think we had 57 states. And Obama wrongly claimed that abortions "have not gone down" under President Bush. In fact, the abortion rate has gone down 9 percent, and the annual total has declined by more than 100,000.
Biden thought we had tv during depression and that FDR was pres then. Unbelievably, he said the United States and France kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, when, in fact, no such thing ever happened. He said article one of the constitution concerns itself with the executive branch of government. Nope. Article One is about the legislative branch. And he claimed to hang out at Katie's restaurant in Wilmington, Del., only it turns out the place has been closed for 20 years.
-
Okay, this is a strecth even for you. The only ones wanting to do away with freedom of speech are the dems with their fairness doctrine. The only reason someone would want to burn the flag is to show hatred for this country.
Actually that's not true. Congress itself, not long ago, wanted to Amend the Constitution to make it illegal to burn the flag. Rember that, during the Reagan years I believe? They never actually tried but it was a good sound bite, and there have been people convicted of burning the flag, most notably a case out of Texas that reached the US Supreme Court, who overturned the conviction. Burning the flag may show hatred of the country, but it is allowed speech nonetheless. And it should be. Once you start outlawing burning the flag, you start that slippery slope toward censorship and limitation of expression of opinions. And free speech is the most fundamental of our freedoms, given to us by the Bill of Rights. Maybe the moderators should take note.
I'm not sure what you are talking about with the Fairness Doctrine, but my understanding it is this (from Wikopedia;
The Fairness Doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows or editorials. The doctrine did not require equal time for opposing views but required that contrasting viewpoints be presented.
I'm not sure if that is still the doctrine or if it has changed, but I have no problem requiring that the broadcast media, who has control of the limited airways, be required to provide all sides of the argument so the people can decide for themselves. Listening to just Rush without an opposing viewpoint could drive somebody deep into the conservative camp, even though the guy is a disingenuous showman and nothing more.
Believe it or not, I believe marriage should be limited between a man and a woman, but I fully understand the passion of the opposing view and understand why in our society gay's might be "angry"
-
They tried liberal talk radio, but no one listened to them. I dont listen to Rush, but I do try to catch Neal Boortz when I can and Sean Hannity. I dont always agree with their points of view, but I am conservative so I like them. If one is a liberal they should listen to CNN or MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC. But, then again, they certainly don't provide all sides of an argument. Heck they dont provide all sides of the truth!
-
Shokk - so this is where you've been hanging out today. Geeze girl, you are on a roll. LOL
-
I just want to jump in and say cuz I don't have time to post..Moody and Sherri, I agree with everything you have said. That's cuz we are intelligent women.

What Shirley said.

Canadians are being blocked from Saturday Night Live online videos. A hiccup maybe? We can still watch snl on tv.

Sherri-
Yes, we liked Ron Paul's economic message, as well! Unfortunately the libertarian party has trouble with it's perception as a "fringe third party of nutjobs"....oh well!
And I don't even want to touch the fairness doctrine drivel...as far as liberal radio here - well we had Bernie Ward who had a large following, but now he's in prison for child porn

Obama's people meet Harper's people
While Harper was set to sit down with the current U.S. president at the summit, his officials were busy meeting with representatives of President-elect Barack Obama's.
The meeting between the Canadian contingent and former secretary of state Madeleine Albright and onetime Republican congressman Jim Leach, both representing Obama at the G20 conference, took place Friday morning.
It was the first first-to-face meeting between Canadian officials and Obama's team since the historic Nov. 4 election.
CTV's Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife, reporting from Washington, said the meeting is a good sign for Canada-U.S. relations.
"It means we're being listened to and we're not being ignored," he said.
Fife said on CTV's Mike Duffy Live there are two tracks going on concurrently at the G20 meeting, one being lead by George Bush's agenda and "the real story, that is, what is Barack Obama to go when he takes over on January 20."
"The Canadian government has been working hard behind the scenes to get in touch with the transition team players in what will be the Obama administration."
A senior Harper official did not provide details on the meeting other than to say the conversation centred on the G20 summit.
"It was a positive meeting," the unnamed official told The Canadian Press. "We were able to articulate our position clearly, and we look forward to future discussions and meetings with the president-elect's transition team as they move forward on their work."
One proposal Canada is pushing during the summit meeting is an international "peer review" of every G20 country's national financial regulations.
Harper seeks consensus
Harper said he has been speaking with other G20 leaders ahead of the meeting, and said Canada will be seeking consensus on a communique that focus on global macroeconomic fundamentals.
The document is intended to "restore growth, recognizes that good regulation begins at home and supports mechanisms for peer review that are transparent and accountable," Harper said.
He said some leaders at the meeting will be advocating protectionism as the solution, while others will push for global regulations.
Canada will be promoting a more middle-of-the-road approach, he said.
"We recognize we are living in a more interconnected world than ever before," Harper said.
"No country can afford to isolate itself and to tackle this problem alone. Canada can serve as a good example for the rest of the world as we seek to restore confidence and get the world economy going once again."
He bragged that Canada has the strongest fiscal position in the G7, as well as strong regulations that have kept inflation in check and a sturdy banking system.

Harper is not the kind of guy/leader who would brag at the G7...."news",

McCain aide cites 'failure of management' Posted: 04:30 PM ET
From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander MooneyDavis managed McCain's campaign.
(CNN) - Rick Davis, the campaign manager for former John McCain's White House bid, came to Sarah Palin's defense in an upcoming interview with the National Review, saying the now-infamous $150,000 clothing tab for the Alaska governor was caused by a "failure of management."
In the interview, set for publication next week, Davis notes Palin's appearance at the Republican convention came only days after she was named to the GOP ticket, and the Alaska governor had few clothes on hand that were appropriate for the event.
"We flew her out from Alaska to Arizona to Ohio to introduce her to the world and take control of her life. She didn't think ‘dress for the convention', because it might have just been a nice day trip to Arizona if she didn't click with John. Very little prep had been done and if it had, we might have gotten picked off by the press. We were under incredible scrutiny."
"We were under incredible scrutiny," he added. "We got her a gal from New York and we thought, ‘Let's get some clothes for her and the family.' It was a failure of management not to get better control and track of that. "The right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing, what it was worth or where it was going. No one knew how much that stuff was worth. It was more our responsibility than hers."
News of the pricey tab caused a media firestorm days before the presidential election, and McCain aides appeared to blame Palin for the mishap, while the Alaska governor said she was forced to buy the clothes.

Obama Advisor Valerie Jarrett Linked to Real Estate Scandals
Contact:
Press Office 202-646-5188
Washington, DC -- November 14, 2008Jarrett Managed Housing Project Deemed "Uninhabitable"
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents linking Valerie Jarrett, an advisor to Barack Obama and the co-chairman of the President-Elect's transition team, to a series of real estate scandals, including several housing projects operated by convicted felon and Obama fundraiser/friend Antoin "Tony" Rezko.
According to the documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Illinois Secretary of State, Valerie Jarrett served as a board member for several organizations that provided funding and support for Chicago housing projects operated by real estate developers and Obama financial backers Rezko and Allison Davis. (Davis is also Obama's former boss.) Jarrett was a member of the Board of Directors for the Woodlawn Preservation and Investment Corporation along with several Davis and Rezko associates, as well as the Fund for Community Redevelopment and Revitalization, an organization that worked with Rezko and Davis.
(According to press reports, housing projects operated by Davis and Rezko have been substandard and beset with code violations. The Chicago Sun Times reported that one Rezko-managed housing project was "riddled with problems -- including squalid living conditions...lack of heat, squatters and drug dealers.")
As Chief Executive Officer of the Habitat Company Jarrett also managed a controversial housing project located in Obama's former state senate district called Grove Parc Plaza. According to the Boston Globe the housing complex was considered "uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage...In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale -- a score so bad the buildings now face demolition." Ms. Jarrett refused to comment to the Globe on the conditions of the complex.
"Like Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett is a product of the corrupt Chicago political machine. And it is no stretch to say that she was a slumlord," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "We have real concerns about Jarrett's ethics. Washington already has plenty of corruption. We don't need to import more of it from Chicago."
Characterized as "the other side of Barack Obama's brain" by CBS News, Jarrett first met the Obamas seventeen years ago when she offered Michelle Obama a job. While speculation has arisen that Jarrett could take Obama's place in the U.S. Senate, the New York Times reported that it is more likely she will become a senior White House adviser, thus continuing her long record of being an important influence and mentor to Barack and Michelle Obama.

Summer, why cant canadians watch SNL?
-
As far as Hillary, I don't know what to think yet.
Okay, when's everyone going to stop talking about Palin. I go over to the other thread and she's still being talked about. I say...get over it. She's not our next VP.
Biden is.
If Palin didn't know that Africa was a continent..she does now!
I just wished that "they'd" give it a rest for Pete's sake. And I'm going to the restaurant that Biden referred to,....
BTW, heeeeeerrrreeee's our next president....
......
-
Don't know, can't even speculate why, we just get a message stating the video clips are not available in our location. The link I posted shows other people with the same problem.
-
I couldn't agree with you moreSherriG, Hillary should stay as the Senator from NY, and run again in 2012. She should stay as far away from having anything to do with the Obama/Biden administration as she can.
