What does communism have to do with Obama?

His earliest mentor, a friend of his grandfather, was a self identified communitst.

His associations over time with numerous far left radicals who espouse various socialist and communist agendas.

His enthusiasm for spreading the wealth around (one of the cornerstones of communism)

His plans for a civilian security force - why do we need this new force in additon to local and state police, the national guard, the army, the navy the air force and the marines?

Obama has promised change, but after 2 years of him campaigning, we still don't have a clear picture of the change he plans beyond taking money from the "rich" and giving it to the "poor",which is the essence of communism.  In recent days, the threshold of just who he considers "rich" keeps getting adjusted downward - $250K, then $200K, then $150K, and most recently $120K.  The latest figure would include a husband and wife who each earn approximately $60K, I'm sure they would consider themselves firmly middle class, not wealthy.

As IBC spouse said, people like Castro came to power promising to take care of the people, not what they actually got.

I am so glad you love your country and how great it is.  Why are you not there?  Surely it is not the opportunities for the American Dream that you are here.  The opportunity to reach for the stars and get there because of your abilities and hard work.  Not to ride the back of those who can.  Or are you here because America's back is broad, we do more to relieve hunger and sickness in the world than anyone else,  we do it out of the largeness our hearts, not at the mandates of a "socialist society.

The reasons why I moved to the US are personal and nobody's business; but they have nothing to do with the American Dream or the broadness of anybody's back. I lived just as comfortably back there, but life has its ways.

Ibcspouse and PatMom - Thank you!  I couldn't have said it better.  You are absolutely right.  Castro took power when folks were very discontent with Batista.  The wanted a way out.  He promised "change" and to "spread the wealth".  Once he got power, he showed everyone what that really meant.  Perhaps, those who think this has nothing to do with Obama should go back and research Fidel's speeches and how he took power.  I tell you Obama's speeches are starting to sound very familiar.

Lza - did I read correctly that you are from Colombia?  I'm curious, are you a registered voter? Say what you want.  But, unless you've walked in my shoes, don't try to defend what you don't know.  Interesting to see so many talk about how wonder their country is but ultimately end up living in USA.

Why is Obama asking for a Civilian National Security Force......that will be as strong as our current MILITARY? We already have the National Guard, FBI, Homeland Security Department,  City Police,  and Civilian Militia. The last Country to have a Civilian National Security Force was Germany before WW2. Remember the HILTER YOUTH and the SS????

I can just see OBAMA enrolling all types of Americans and Paying them to join his little ARMY of Communists.......and then he will be able to be their GREAT LEADER (messiah complex). Don't be a bit surprise if they start with the education of your children.....enrolling them in the OBAMA YOUTH group (yes the group will have OBAMA as part of the goup's name). The YOUTH will listen to everything MOM and DAD says and report back to NEIGHBORHOOD COMRADS.....or COMMUNITY ORGANIZER.....and then this CIVILIAN NATIONAL SECURITY FORCE will just bring you in for QUESTIONING and to determine if you may need to be sent to a RE-EDUCATION CAMP....to get your thought process in better alignment.

COMRAD OBAMA is a LITTLE RED DIAPER DOPER BABY: The children of leftist intellectual baby boomers, raised from birth on Marxism and a drug tolerant environment, and now in places of political and intellectual influence.

You may find it interesting to know that there are Americans living in my country of origin, too. And not necessarily because they want to take advantage of the socialized health system.

And no, I am not from Colombia.

Thank you for editing your message to remove the invitation to pack and go.

Rumoret:   WOW!!!  This is probably the most frightening post of all  on this thread.  Comrad Obama????  Really???   Your rants are the epitomy of all things wrong with a mis-guided, ill-informed republican base. The half-truths and outright lies on this board are unequaled in my opinion.  Are you so afraid of someone, ummm, how should I put this... different? Read between the lines.  You folks are truly frightening.

Oh but he is already telling us he will give college students $4,000 and the rest will be paid in community service.  Huh...wonder what his definition of community service is?

Blue, don't call us names or accuse us of being racist.  Yes I am afaraid of someone that is different.  There is no reading between the lines.  We have never had a Presidential Candidate who promises Redistribution of wealth, we have never had a candidate that promises to bankrupt the largest energy source industry in our country, we have never had a candidate that proudly declares that home untility cost will skyrocket, we have never had a candidate that has no record but has associations with people that hate america and Israel.  I don't give a damn if his face is brown, his butt is blue and his toes are green, color has nothing to do with it.  I have never seen one fact to base a vote on for Obama, I have seen many reasons to be afraid for my country if he is elected.

The facts speak for themselves......OBAMA......talks with a FORK TONGUE! The problem is that the American People are not being allowed to see the FULL OBAMA! And we are slowly seeing the pieces as the moles in the media trickle it out!

If I have FRIGHTENED you......so be it! His OWN WORDS are being heard......translate them as you find fit.

"Are you so afraid of someone, ummm, how should I put this... different? Read between the lines."

I read just fine..........and I can read between the lines just fine.....thank you. Also....you don't have to be so polite.......(meaning...I think you want to call me a RACIST???). And don't assume because he is 1/2 WHITE and 1/2 BLACK that I am afraid of this SOMEONE. I actually share the same Black DNA that OBAMA has.....so don't play the RACIST word game on me.

See, this is the problem IBC spouse, you're only telling half the story.... the way you folks talk you think Obama is going to play Robin Hood...not the case.... as far as bankrupting the coal industry, he wants emissions guidelines....as far as his associations, McCain has questionable ones as well....

Look, we can agree to disagree... I just wish people would be honest about why they can't fathom voting for the man...I'd have more respect.

Happy voting day tomorrow.  I hope everyone DOES vote, regardlessof their candidate.

The link to this article about how excited the world is about an Obama presidency was posted on that other thread <----------- by O4P. http://www.newsweek.com/id/166910

I thought it interesting that 70% of Germans ( A Socialist Nation) and 75% of Chinese ( A Communist Nation) polled support Obama.  Since when do we let other countries tell us how to run our government?

    blue16,

This is a link to the youtube where Barak, in his own words describes his "cap and trade system" that would bankrupt anyone who tried to build a coal power plant.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wzNUZVv0A0

If you choose to hide your head in the sand and think that the only reason for someone to vote for anyone other than Obama for president is the color of his skin, that is your problem, but all of us will have to live with the consequences.

I believe the link posted above to a youtube clip of an Obama speech (soundbite) from last summer was taken out of context. The link I posted may provide some clarification.  Obama was not proposing a little minnie Army of Red soldiers running around the country.  He was talking about increasing the numbers of the Peace Corps and other organizations such as that.  Lofty goals ... however, even he would not be able to fund such programs if elected.

Hi Oddy ... Love ya my Cubana friend!!  Did you ever check that link?  Thought it was interesting about the Cuban voting in Florida.

IBC ... Glad Cam is doing better.

     Back to work for me,

    Bren

PS .. Patmom ... I did some reading and the majority of Castro's Cuban's are also pulling for Obama.  The reason stated was they are hoping Obama will end the embargo or at least begin talks with Castro.  Also, that Obama has stated he would open travel between families between Cuba and the U.S.

Bren - Love you too.  I saw the link you posted on the Latino vote.  Is there another link?  BTW - Castro's Cuban's?  Laughing  Are you refering to the ones in the island?  Families are already traveling to Cuba. It's the Cubans in the island who are not allowed to travel to the U.S.  The Castro brothers decide who leaves the island.  How is Obama going to convince the Castro brothers...hmmmm...I wonder?

What drives me crazy is that democrats think the ONLY reason people aren't voting for Obama is that he is black.  But see he himself declared that he was as "white as my grandmother".   I wonder if John McCain were black and Obama were white, if all these same people would vote for John McCain?????

If they say "yes", then THEY are voting based on RACE NOT ISSUES.  If they so "no" well then they MUST be racist!!!!!!!!?????

"It is laughable that so many of you are seriously implying that SENATOR Obama secretly wants to destroy America.  It's also sad and pathetic and stupid."  Silly Republicans. Shame on us for being so stupid as having an opinion.  Donna, how do YOU know Obama doesn't intend to destroy America?  He won't address his shady affliations with no-gooders; he won't release information people seek about him (where's his thesis???).   He's not publicly renounced those who would hurt this country.  No, in fact, he wants to sit down with chat with them.  PUHLEEZE.  Your comment about people on this thread being sad, pathetic and stupid is exactly why Obama won't be elected - his views are those of an undeserving elistist.

    HI Oddy,

I was referring to the Cubans on the Island being in favor of Obama.  The hope is that he will be able to lift the embargo (bringing more goods into Cuba).  Obama was hoping that beginning some sort of dialog with Cuba would open the way for travel from Cuba so those citizens could visit their families in the U.S.  Wishful thinking perhaps.

The articles I read re the Cuban vote in Florida, specifically closer to Miami and the coastal areas were that the older Cubans, from Cuba, remember all too well Castro's regime, the boatlifts, being exciled and leaving loved ones behind, are pro-McCain, and the younger Cubans are pro-Obama.  One of the articles was in the Orlando Sentinnel (I think) I'd have to look it up again.

For heaven's sake .. I just looked at the posts above this one ... we're calling each other names now ...  ?!?!?!?  I thought we were discussing politics .. not critiquing each other.

ShirleyHughes:  BJAlexandria, congrats on voting.  Were the lines long?  I haven't voted yet, but plan to tomorrow -- sorry, I didn't see this until today.  No, the line wasn't long at all (I live in Virginia), but something funny happened.  This gal in front of me was so excited to be there (she was voting BO) that she was dancing in the hallway and kept saying "I can't wait!!  This is so exciting -- lordy, we're almost to the voting booth!!"  The lady taking the ballots asked her if it was her "first time."  Sad, truly.

We have 119 pages of reasons why we wouldn't vote for Obama.  Should we start all over again, so some could read them to see that we have many, many reasons not to vote for the man.  Loads.

I was listening to Schwarzenegger's speech for McCain the other day.  He was telling it very well, socialistic practices hurt businesses.  They've found that out all over Europe.  It impedes business, creates job loss, creates a need for large government to step in with more socialistic programs to feed the nation, thus creating an even larger govenment.  It's the snake eating its own tail.  They've known this for years and years.  When Russia embraced capitalism, they began to thrive.  England, the same.

What more can we say here?  People come from the other board to accuse us of things that aren't true.  Fine, that only means they cannot read with comprehension.

One more thing, at least we know in advance what McCain's health care program is.  I'm at ease.  What do we know about Obama's?  Or Kennedy's?  Nothing much.

With a Democrat as your President and 2 houses full of Democrats it might very well feel like a dictatorship by the time their done.  Remember the threat to the 401K plans?  We won't be able to stop them.  We won't be able to stop a lot of far left-wing programs that we won't like.  But we have been forwarned, haven't we.

I really don't like that 401K thing - just another pot to dip their greedy hands into and then tell us later on it is going broke and we will not be able to get our money when we need it. What next - take over your bank account?

I volunteered yesterday for the McCain/Palin campaign here in Wisconsin and will probably head over there again this evening. After volunteering, I went to Chicago to visit my oldest son who is a grad student - brought him some home-cooked food. I know when I drove there a few weeks ago (pre-Joe the Plumber) I saw lots of Obama signs. This time I saw more McCain/Palin signs than I did Obama signs. I drove on a road with a lot of small businesses on it and lots of these small businesses had McCain/Palin signs out front. I think I counted 11 McCain/Palin signs and only one Obama sign and this was in Illinois!

Believe what you want, color has everything to do with it. Racism is alive and well in this country. It is the elephant in the room no one is willing to talk about. Really talk about truthfully. I must say, I am really saddened to see the lies and 1/2 truths that are repeated over and over on this thread. The repetition won't make them true. I wish for all of you that you can find peace and love in your hearts no matter what the outcome of this election. I wish for all of you only the best. As Ghandi said: Be the change you wish to see in the world.
