Well mine was because that is what my Dr. called me, even though I live on Long Island in NY now. I love the names, sometimes they make me laugh outloud, especially onebadboob!

I am not very computer savy, how do you add an avatar?

OmahaGirl, Here are some simple (I hope) directions for adding or changing an avitar.

    1. click on my home.

    2. click on edit my profile at the top of the page.

    3. click on browse to find avitar

    4. select the picture on your computer that you want to use and click on open - the link will appear in the avitar box.

    5. go to the bottom of the page and click on save.

I already told you my story so I will not repeat it.

However, someone read the second part about my avatar and actually adopted one in my name.  So she followed up on what my family failed to do.  Husband is still ticked..... but Tongue out to them.

I don't remember ever seeing this thread before. My screen name is my initials and the 35 is because my life changed dramatically immediately after my 35th birthday. My mother died quite suddenly 3 weeks after my birthday, and then my husband informed me he "wasn't happy" and was moving out 6 weeks after that. Quite a bit of upheaval to say the least, but for some reason, it's meaningful to me because I feel like I went through a lot, but survived it, and am a stronger person for it.

And thank goodness! Because clearly I had some more crap coming down the pike! LOL

As a friend of mine once said, "do you ever feel like Eeyore?", meaning, do I ever feel like there is just a dark cloud following me around. I could have used that as a screen name, but I don't like the "Ee" in the beginning! Plus, I don't want to attract any more bad luck.

I love music of all kinds, but I was gong through a kd lang phase at one point, and she sings a lot of "torch song" type music (think Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Diana Krall, Peggy Lee...), especially on her "Drag" CD (which I had just acquired), and it seemed like a good screen name at the time...Plus it gives me a great nickname--Torch!

And yes, I am a red-head...for the moment, anyway, until the FEC/T kicks in. Wink

My avatar, however, is simply a picture I took on vacation this summer--I love the colours and the sense of freedom with the flowers blowing in the wind...

I picked my screen name because I love to day hike and see the sunlight filtered through leaves, though I haven't been able to do that for several years.  Also, one of my favorite movies in elementary school was the Disney movie  (Our Mr. Sun?) about how they didn't quite understand how leaves turned sunlight into energy. I still think photosynthesis is magical.

I picked my screen name because it is my nick name in my family. Everyone does call me Elizabeth. I do not like my name shortened. I got my nick name from my Aunt Jean Day (deceased died of lung cancer). My mothers name is Elizabeth and they did not want to call me little, or jr. So they call me EB Ann  (Eliza Beth Ann) So now I use it in everything cause it is so dear to me. I love my Aunt Jean Day she was a very special lady.

    Blessings; Elizabeth

Wow...can't believe I missed this one.  I'm "badboob" because that's all I could think about when I signed up--that I have a bad boob. That, and the fact that every time I'd look at the bad boob, I'd hear the "COPS" theme in my head but with the words changed to "Bad BOOB, bad BOOB, whutcha gonna do? Whutcha gonna do when they come for you?"

The "67" is for the year I was born.

What immediately came to mind is what I chose. And I won't change it after my biopsy either. Perceptions of life is what will sustain it or not.

I have a name that is generic in Australia, like an Irish Colleen, a Sheila is just a female aussie of any age. It can be derogatory or complimentary, depending on how and in what context it is used.  As there are so many Sheilas on the forums I visit, I thought that I should differentiate between us all.  Actually, I am English by birth, and immigrated here with my parents in 1950, when I was three.  No Aussie mother would knowingly call a daughter Sheila, that's probably why most Aussies call me Shirley, because they can't imagine anyone with such a name.

I must thank one of the other Sheilas on this site (luv2qlt) for her advice on how to put an avatar on our pages. It only took me one go and it was there, WOW! That's a first for me. From one Sheila to another, Thank you so much.

    Sheila.

My life was in turmoil before, and much more so after, the dx of BC. By the time I found the discussion board, I had received incredible support from family and friends, and an education in how bad BC can be. I have friends that have been through it, two more than once, two who have died, and one currently going through a much more difficult treatment than I. I need to always recognize that my glass is HALF FULL. Look at my stats. In the world of this vicious disease, I am a fortunate one. With the support of friends and family, and you all, I am a fortunate one.

My avatar is my name - Analemma.  It shows the position of the sun in the sky if photographed at the same time every day for a year.  So in the summer, at 4 pm, it's still pretty high, but in the winter, at 3 pm, it's pretty low.  I love the astronomy, the way it forms the infinity symbol, and I love the consistency of the patterns of archeoastronomy.  The Analemma explains why the earliest sunset is not at the winter solstice, but almost two weeks before, and the latest dawn is two weeks later.  I know, I'm a geek, but this stuff fascinates me.
