Thank you for your concerns.  She seems to have worn herself out and is on antibiotics now.  We adopted her from China and don't think her bio-mom had a lot of prenatal care or nutrition because she was tiny and sickly even though reportedly not a preemie,  The good news is she's doubled her birth weigh and even made it onto the growth charts, finally!  She also appears to be one of the most intelligent infants we've raised and definitely the best at expressing her needs, especially at 3:00 in the morning!

LaPhoenix:  I absolutely agree with you.  Michelle Obama is a class act. I feel that way about both the Obamas and would be proud for them to represent our country.  I didn't like Biden at first, but after seeing him speak at the convention and debates, I definitely decided I like him as well.  McCain almost defines the term "Freudian slip" with his "that one" and "fellow prisoners" and other snafus.  If it's not Freudian, it is at least a sign of dementia.

Amy, Darn it!! I forgot to get my margaritas made so I could take a shot each time!! Sad to say, I can't drink because of my meds, so guess I could pop a dark chocolate next time he repeats his "my friends" refrain. Borrrriiinng!

Anna, Hope your daughter is feeling better. I have a 16 mo. granddaughter that we (hubby & I) often keep overnight. I feel your pain......or at least sleep deprivation. :) And thanks for the compliment, I am truly honored. I should probably just stick to this thread, since the "other one" makes me sad that some people are so blinded (by McCain's white hair, you think?) they can't see the truth. Luckily, they are in the minority now. So it's Obama/Biden all the way.

I too think Bush & Cheney should be impeached or imprisoned for their war crimes. I don't care if they are out of office in less than 4 months. Too bad they can't be separated from that golden parachute coming to them for the rest of their lives. Of course, they are soooo bad, maybe that will shorten the years we taxpayers have to pay nincompoops who rose to the level (actually below I think) of their incompetency! LOL

And now I hear McSame is saying it's not time to talk about the economy, but time to talk about the characteristics of Obama and that he (according to McSame & cronies) isn't ready to be President. Hogwash!! Obama will be a phenomenal President. He is smart and he sees what' been happening in our Federal Government--he sees the foxes who didn't guard the henhouse as they should have. Lots and lots of Bush/Cheney's peeps should do some jail time.

The next debate should be the final act. McSame reminds me of someone in one of Shakespeare's plays. Anyone else find that so?

Stock market dips below 8800.... hhmmm yeah, lets talk about the character of the man who hung out with Charles Keating and was censured for it. Lets talk about McCain's buddy philanthropist Mrs. Annenberg who funded the committee in which Barack and Ayers served onj. Lets talk about the man who left his wife when she was recovering from a near fatal traffic accident to chase after barbie heiress... McCain is in a big ole glass house and he best not throw the first stone.

Tomorrrow the troopergate report comes out... should be interesting since people testified, although first dude did his in writing.

Grace, becoming morbidly obese over a debate just isn't worth it.... the big question should the game be for the word MAVERICK or (MY) FRIEND(S).

Our youngest daughter was adopted from Taiwan, (best import ever), and born in December.  It's taken a while to figure out her dietary needs so it also took her a while to gain and thrive, but we seem to have finally figured it all out.  It was an atypical adoption because her grandparents are good friends of ours and initiated the adoption.  We were able to bypass a lot of international laws because of that, but still spent way too much time waiting for her to gain enough weight to fly home with us.  It was a thrill today to realize she had doubled her birth weight even though she's still small for her age according to the growth charts and has an "ouchy" ear infection.  The other day we were watching her and one of our older kids asked, "Is she really already counting her toes?"  It really looked like she was.  Algebra can't be far behind.

We are also co-raising a grandbaby boy (don't compare us to Palin; PLEASE!) born in May, so I really should look into that Starbucks, caffeine craze.  At least I don't go to rallies and hold them up like trophies and expose them to the noise, lights, GERMS and crowds.

Grace: I meant every word and will think about you next time I'm walking a fussy baby.  I love being a Mama/Grandma, even when he or she is keeping us up.

Back on topic, how is this stock market thing effecting you individually?  Will it effect how you vote?  For us, I may have to take some extra contract jobs (in my "spare" time?) and realize retirement is a lot longer down the line for both of us.  I also really hate that for the first time we're going to lose money on a home investment if we decide to sell (which we sort have already wanted to.)

Believe it or not, I still have to go to the grocery store today or there will be a mutiny.  Take care everyone.  I felt really supported today and thank you all.

Laura...I love you last comment about the "backyard!"  Well ladies, the republican's have enough angry energy for the entire universe.  Don't give any back to them.  They are wallowing in it all by themselves.  I opened my portfolio today....uggg.....down from where I intially started.  And, I may take on a part time job until things turn around.  That sucks, however, you do what you have to do.  I still have a boat load of medical bills that my insurance didn't cover.  So, I am putting off any further testing until that's dealt with.  Its sad that we live in a society where you have to put everything else over your health care.  And I pay $800/mth in health ins.  It's ridiculous.  Another banner day on Wall St.  That needs to be worked on.  Angry Troll is not going to win this thing.  Don't let him and the rest of the mob get to you.  Our OBAMA is taking it all the way to the White House!!  My daughter told me today of her friends parents who are voting for McCain because if Obama wins, it will turn the blacks against the whites.  WHAT???  I said well, they might want to reference their bible since they claim to be Christians and go to a passage that says something about judging others!!  And, maybe they want to look at Obama's family.  He has a little of both in there.  This is so insane, its not funny.  How do they say they are for God and believe in the bible but yet they do everything the opposite?  I don't get it.  But..I am continuing my Obama Happy Dance!!!!  Obama '08..it's almost here!!!!!

Just a thought-- I've heard some of McCain's talk comparing him to a terrorist and asking for voters to question Obama's  nonexistant ties to terrorists-- who are the people who actually believe what he's saying? I don't know anyone in the "low information" group so it's hard for me to picture just who these folks are. I assume no one who has ever gone to college and/or watches or listens to news other than Faux.

G- doesn't it seem OFTEN that the ones who spew the racist garbage are the ones who tout their religion so insinuate that they are pure and good of heart? Why is that?

Obama....this is a great question, and one I think about often!!!  Their hypocrisy is the reason I turned my back on organized religion along time ago.  The majority of them do wrong all week, in action and in thoughts, and then on Sunday they go to their churches and ask for forgiveness, and then start all over again on Monday.  I hope I am not offending anyone on here, this has just been my experience.  It's my thoughts that when Obama wins, it will bring those of us with open minds together.  I do not wish to be considered part of that gun toting, bible thumping, white america that has forced so much injustice on us already!  Eyes need to be opened.  And they are!!

And then there are those who proudly boast that they will not be part of those brought together for the betterment of the country and race relations claiming whites are the ones who are being discriminated against. I think in another 20-30 years when the old southern racists have died off this country will be color blind. Whites will be a minority in a few years and things will be so much more equal.

Amy, if you want to see who the people are who are buying the "he's a terrorist" bull, watch this video from Huffington.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/09/mccain-palin-rally-attend_n_133240.html

The McCain campaign is obviously practicing the "throw it on the wall and see what sticks," or what scares, approach to negative campaigning.  Today McCain's pal Gov. Keating (no relation I guess) accused Obama of being too "street" on Dennis Miller's radio show.  One day he's too elitist, the next day he's too street.  They both said that Obama needs to "come clean" about his drug use.  And Cindy actually said with a straight face that the Obama campaign is the most negative in history.  These people are truly looney.

I haven't looked at any of my investment statements in the last couple weeks.  I know we've lost a lot, but fortunately we have a little way to go till retirement.  I got laid off one of my part-time jobs a couple months ago, along with many of my friends.  To be honest, I'm more worried about the job market than the stock market.

So what about Obama buying 30 minutes of primetime for late October?  Will it seal the deal?

LAP- The video from bethlehem is about 45 minutes from where I live.  All that was missing from the Ohio video was the white robes. Those tapes were of the trailor trash contingent of voters. Younger racists frighten me more than older ones, because I'm more likely to forgive an older one since they were products of a segregated society.

Watching the Bethlehem video I thought I was having a flashback to the Vietnam protests.  Nice to know the reactionaries are still throwing out the "get a job!" and "commie-socialist" jabs.  All that was missing was, "get a haircut!"

Very funny, and hopefully prophetic, comment Laura.

I read a quote the other day, and I wish I could remember who said it, but I think this sums it up for Barak:

Leadership is not in making decisions, but in making sense.

When I listen to the two candidates (and their wives and VPs) talk, there's only one group making any sense at all.

    That one.

LAP- The Bethlehem nuts screaming "get a job" must have very short memories since they seem to be forgetting the failure of Bethlehem steel and all the jobs that were lost from that.

Today is TrooperGate day-- of course Palin and McCain did an independent investigation of Palin and cleared her--- lol like that means anything. At least they can't blame the dems, since the investigation began with a republican run state senate.

    Ladysuz,

Don't fear them, you'll just be playing into their entire game.  They are fully based on fear.  Scaring their flock into what they want.  Their entire platform will fall apart if their sheep break ranks and think for themselves.  I think we need to ignore them.  It really is the best method and then focus on what we're working for.  Obabma is going to win.  Keep the focus and attention on that.  If they must be angry and ignorant, let them do it on their own time.  When the troll launches his angry little commercials, mute him.  When the rest of his people go on their angry march and they air it..turn the channel, don't watch them, don't give them any of your energy at all.  When our man Obama comes on, turn it up!!!  Do the happy dance!!!  Let the positive energy go!!  It works and its working!!!  Be the quiet strength that Obama is!!  You can't help but feel his positive energy spill over!!  I say it all day long and I fully believe Obama '08..it's ALMOST HERE!!!!

Little-G, you're right.  We have to stay focused on the win, eyes on the prize.  Obama summed it well:

"I think that folks are looking for something different," Obama continued. "It's easy to rile up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that's not what we need right now in the United States."

"The times are too serious. The challenges are too great. The American people aren't looking for someone who can divide this country - they're looking for someone who will lead it. We're in a serious crisis - now, more than ever, it is time to put country ahead of politics."

I think McCain is going to realize soon enough that his latest tactics aren't working and change course yet again.  Today's polls, which would reflect reaction to the debate and the Ayers stuff, show Obama's lead widening.  Those people at the rallies are the hardcore base, the people who would vote for McCain no matter what.  He's wasting his time and endangering his reputation appealing only to them.  They aren't going to win the election for him.

    Enjoy your rally, ladies!

I have tried to stay away from the political arena but with the econmy falling to shreds and things getting worse and worse in our country I decided to pay more attention to what the politicians have to say before I cast my vote.  Have always been a democrat and always voted that way but I tell you I have never seen such craziness.  McCain is literally turning into a mad man.  I have never seen anyone as angry as he is.  He will not look at someone he doesn't like or respect and treats Obama like a piece of dirt on a rug.  If this man were to be elected, what would he treat foreign diginatries like?  I can't imigane if someone ticked him off how cruel and cold he would be.  Unless something changes dramatically it looks like Obama will win the election and that is where my vote will go.  Palin is on this rampage of accusing Obama of all kinds of wrong doing and I have to wonder, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?  She makes accusations of misusing his power, you just want to slap her and say, no that's your job!

I really can't wait for the elections to be over and figure in the next few weeks McCain will continue to dig a bigger and bigger hole for himself.

LuAnn...I can't wait for it to be over too.  As hard as it is, don't let them anger you.  That's where they gain their power.  From angry people.  Barack is going to rock this thing.  I know he is.  And we will turn this thing around.  We are over do.  And, as bad as things are, in a way things needed to tumble down.  Otherwise, we would have kept on building ontop of bad, like it has been.  Now..we have no choice but to begin from the bottom up.  And build it right this time!!  As far as the troll and his side kick (I refuse to use their names as I think that just gives them energy) they will tumble with the rest of the sh*t that is rolling down hill.  They are angry, prejudice people.  We have no need for that in the US.  That type of people had their day, unfortunately, but now it is OVER!!  They see it, and its making them even madder.  So..we remain steady and know that Obama IS the next President!!!  And we know the majority of us have a collective thought that we will bring this country to its full potential.  Not that potential of the old, rich white man that is out for his own good and the good of his buddy's.  All of us need to stick together in this, for the good of all of us!!!

    Obama '08..it's almost here!!!! :-)
