okay, I admit--even pink can't put a dent in my love for Maxine.  May have to have one of these.

At least Maxine has the right attitude!!

And Nancy, (I think it was you, but now I'm on another page), I also had no idea about the "pink" thing until it was about me.  And then the intrusiveness of it hit me.  My dd and I saw pink Tic Tacs.  And even she thought the pink Milano cookies were a bit much.

I was at Books a Million yesterday and the check out area was FULL of pink ribbon stuff:  key chains, phone fobs, book marks, journals, and even playing cards..... EEEEKKKKKKK.   I did manage to knock over one display "accidentally"...  and I did NOT clean it up either.   They had a magnetic car ribbon with " find a cure".   Sorry I can't post a pix otherwise I would have sent one of the "discomboobulated" display  I knocked over.   Hey, isn't that a great wording for a shirt??? Thank goodness the bank does NOT have pink lollipops - yet...

And thanks to whoever posted the Felicia t shirt link - I should have it by my next weekly Thursday treatment.  This week (tomorrow) I will wear my " I have Issues" t shirt.   IF I had enuf nerve I would have gotten a "crap" shirt, but as gutsy as I am - I could not do it.   Maybe if I win a bingo this weekend I will treat myself for those really chitty days post chemo.

As an aside, a couple of well meaning friends have sent me a BC teddy bear, several magnets, rubber duckies, a pen and tablet.   I made myself a couple of plastic canvas water bottle covers with IOS and Cancer Sucks.   2 ladies at chemo last week wanted a Cancer Sucks one, so I hope to see them tomorrow and give to them.  I am thinking of giving them to the chemo nurses when I finally finish my tx.   They all wear Cancer Sucks buttons.

Lefty thinking about your friends giving you all the pink "stuff"....

IT NEVER ENDS.  Or does it?  Seriously.  I am four years from my diagnosis, and the STUPID pink stuff never ends.  This thread was able to open up a dialogue between myself and my fiance about how I really feel about the pink stuff.

A few weeks back I got an award, and went to lunch with my mom and future MIL after.  She gets me a gift. Inside is a PINK RIBBON ornament. (I'm a jew which is the hilarious part)

When I was at her place for x-mas last year, I got pink ribbon slippers.  For my birthday I got gold and silver bracelets with,  wait for it.... PINK RIBBON charms dangling from the end.

    WHEN DOES IT STOP???!!!!???!!???

So I told my fiance this... if I see something, that I like, then I buy it for myself.  And most of the pinkt hings I buy are sarcastic, or really make a bold statement about getting cancer in your 20's.

I buy things that make me laugh, or support one of my friends that's selling something.

But you won't catch me walking out of target with a pink dyson any time soon.

Do people actually think they are DOING something when they buy one of these products?  Do they think, Hey, I'm doing my part against breast cancer???

    ugh. I digress.

(Beth -- congrats on the award! Are you ever in the City? Maybe some of us can go out for an amber-colored drink sometime...)

Don't you think there should be a thread for newbies warning them that if they tell the world they have bc they will not be allowed to ever forget it (all the pink and long faces, etc.) and to consider that carefully before they spill their guts?  Food for thought.

(Okay, I'm not supposed to be online but I was just taking a lunch break.  Heading out the door for a walk now.)

LMAO  at the darts.  It'd be great if you could throw them while sitting in the waiting room for hours on end.

The chip clips are great...clipping chips that are full of trans fats that cause cancer. I want to run right out to buy a pack right now.

Rock- I'm in the city all the time (my best friend lives on the upper west side).  We're due for a NYC get together soon!

Dang it. I feel left out. I haven't received a pink ribbon ANYTHING. I got a lovely Harry & David food basket from my office and not a single pink thing in it! OK, you guys...who got to my boss and told them pink is "out"?

This seller has 2 cans of the campbell's soup listed with the bidding starting at $9.99. Here is a "helpful" suggestion from the listing:

"These unopened cans are fresh. This is NOT last year's soup...

When these are gone, the traditional red and white will be your only choice. You will get one can of tomato soup and one can of chicken noodle soup. These two varieties are the only ones with these special labels.
Wouldn't this be a lovely gift combined with a nice soup mug, a heartfelt card, and a hug for that special someone you know who is either battling breast cancer, has survived it or is a surviving family member.  "

    Um...how 'bout....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!?

This one plain pisses me off.

Unless the seller was planning to donate $9 of the money to breast cancer research, I hope the soup rots before they sell.

    Nancy,

Since they worded the listing like this:

"Campbell's Soup has decided to vary from their traditional red and white labels in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. These are being produced for a limited time, in limited markets during October. A portion of each purchase is donated to Breast Cancer Awareness. "

it seems to me they are wanting to give the impression that the eBay purchase will be a donation but...let's get real...they deliberately used vague wording there. In addition to their soup rotting, I hope some of their body parts rot and fall off as well.

I have never been very good at throwing things. But I think I might hone my skills just so I could heave a can of Campbell's soup at the head of anyone who approached me with soup, a card, and pink-ribbony "i'm gonna hug you, you survivor, you" look in their eye.  Pink THAT.

Hey Nancy, I didn't get alot of pink ribbon stuff after my dx but before because I have captained a church sponsored Race for the Cure team since my mom was dx in 2001 and I have tried to promote annual mammos for the ladies in my office.

A couple of years ago, we had a temp worker at my office and she found out that I was active in the local Race for the Cure. She gave me a small 3.5 inch tall hand-made Pink-Ribbon angel sun-catcher. Fortunately I do collect sun-catchers and it goes well with my collection.
