Who thinks of this stuff?!  Let's put the pink ribbon on a skunk for "Pink Stinks".  Makes way more sense than a giraffe.  I have a problem at my house because my 12-yr old dd wants everything pink.  I haven't even tried to explain because she is my biggest supporter and if she wants to wear pink, that's fine.

What aggrivates me further, is that there are pink things that I find to be very significant for me, and I feel like all this pink crap takes away from that.

You've got to be kidding!  The giraffe was one thing...but a pink bowling ball??? Who on earth thinks of these things?  Probably the same MAN who invented the mammogram machine.  I must admit, though, I did buy something pink off e-bay.  It was a pink bumper sticker/decal that says "HEY CANCER, YOU PICKED THE WRONG B*TCH" (without the *).  My daughter put it on the bottom of my bathroom mirror so I am reminded who's in charge every morning.

This is a great thread.  I have a pink story to share with you ladies.  During radiation I became close to one of the women that was getting radiation everyday at the same time I was.  We talked everyday and shared many common interests.  On the last day of radiation, I was telling all the ladies in the waiting room how I "used" to like the color pink but now I can't stand it.   Well....talk about sticking my foot in my mouth b/c the woman I became close to during radiation bought me pink flowers to celebrate my last treatment. She had them hidden in her changing locker while I was telling everyone how I hate pink. After I walked out of my last rad session she gave me the pink flowers and apologized that they were pink.  I felt so bad for telling everyone that I can't stand pink.  I really was very gratefull for the flowers and it was very thoughtful of her to get me flowers but the damage was already done.

Rock, you deserve a Pink errr Blue ribbon for starting this winning thread. This is just what the doctor ordered. We are all together here, laughing our butts off. It is so much fun!!!

Since so many of you seem to be reading this, please forgive me for getting back down to earth for a moment. I would like to ask all of you who have not done so, to check out the thread declaring NOV 1st, as pray for breast cancer day. When the dreaded breast cancer awareness month is finally over, after all this pink crap is finally taken off the shelves, and we toss all these great "gifts" in the trash so we do not have to be reminded anymore, we cannot forget that the fight goes on. Join your sisters in asking everyone to send their prayers out on November 1st. Why not include some of  these hilarious pinkies and send it out to all your email contacts and ask them to stop what they are doing on Nov. 1st and pray for our sisters. Also, if you check out the tread, please keep bumping it forward so that others will continue to see it. We need your prayers!!!!

You've all given me something to think about (and to laugh about) because up until now, I had never really thought very much about all of the pink marketing tactics.  While I do agree with everyone on how some (maybe even the majority) of companies are profiting by selling pink, if funds are going to bc research and/or to direct help for patients, then it's not such a bad thing, in my view.

I have formed a team to fund-raise and walk in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Orlando next month.  The members of my team are passing out ACS pamphlets on breast cancer and informing people of the help that is available locally.  Yes, we will have pink bracelets and will walk in pink shirts, but if we can provide even one woman with support as she is going through this horrible disease, then I'll wear pink all year.

kdeit-Doing the walk is awesome, giving out pamphlets will... you are right touch at least one person likely many more..This is the kind of action that makes a difference!

 Everyone who thinks we are just joking please be sure to go through the website below very carefully. This is not simply about the colour pink. It is about how the pink ribbon campaign is out of control and the money that is not going to research at all.

 This will explain the concept of pinkwashing and why shopping very carefully when you buy pink ribbon goods is smart. Being lied to about where the money goes while tugging at the heart strings of consumers is unfair and wrong.  What makes me most sad is the people that buy things to try and make a difference with the disease and spend their hard earned money on things they do not need that don't make a difference anyway.

There is actually vanilla ice cream with a strawberry pink ribbon all the way through which can be topped with Hershey's syrup ( which has a pink cap an ribbon on its label)

I can't believe all the shoes. Arm and Hammer should be ashamed for the Clean for the Cure laundry soap!
