Yes she is-- She sometimes fills in for Alan Colmes......

After a day of being infuriated with commentators and their new talking point (Cancer) every few seconds..........
A little really sick humor..........

She's a Creationist! I could accept anti-choice (lots of intelligent, reasonable women are against abortion); no intelligent, reasonable woman advocates that Creationism be taught in our schools. McCain made a huge mistake on this one; I know lots of Republicans (we actually have some in my own family), and none of them would vote for a Creationist! It's equivalent to suggesting that the earth is flat. For sure, the McCain ticket won't attract anyone who has the least respect for science, and that doesn't stop with Democrats.
The Democrats would have a lot more success if they attacked Palin on this aspect of her resume and left her abortion views and her red open toed shoes out of it. What a bummer!
-
She's open to Creationism being taught but only on the condition that evolution is also taught----
Here is what she said in clarifying a statement about the issue in Alaska:
"I don't think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."
She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state's required curriculum.
That what I was trying to tell you Anne---The dream ticket for Conservatives is Palin/Jindal or Jindal /Palin 2012 in any order ---Incidently both believe in Creationism-------------
You are going to have to wait for Hillary 2012
-
Susie--she has to be open to evolution being taught or she wouldn't get away with the former, but OMG. And I was so shocked about the Creationism, I forgot to mention that she questions the reality of global warming! Shades of Bush, but even his administration finally concedes on global warming. Are we all supposed to fry or freeze because Palin doesn't accept the teachings of 99% of scientists throughout the world.
Don't hold your breath. McCain won't win with these things on the record of his running mate. So I guess it's goodbye to Hillary but I certainly can live with that so long as we don't have a Creationist in the White House.
And I should also add as a former Catholic, and it's the Catholic working class they all need, Catholics do not disagree with evolution and do not believe in a literal interpretation of the bible, as I was taught 50 years ago in a Catholic high school. Believe me as soon as some of Palin's beliefs are disseminated, they will not vote for her.
And speaking of global warming, just saw this:
The sea ice in the Arctic Ocean has decreased to the second lowest level recorded ever since satellite measurements were first taken in 1979. The absolute record was reached last year, with 5.69 million square kilometers of sea ice.
The National Snow and Ice Data Center in Colorado released its latest ice report this week: Arctic sea ice extent has decreased 795,000 square miles since the beginning of the month and that the extent in now 760,000 square miles below the 1979-2000 average. NASA ice scientist Jay Zwally told the Associated Press that in “five to less than 10 years" the Arctic could remain without ice completely in the summer. "It also means that climate warming is also coming larger and faster than the models are predicting and nobody's really taken into account that change yet," he said.It is important to be aware of the fact that without the white ice that reflects sunlight back into space, the Earth will absorb more heat into the ocean. The figures reflect recent melt in the Chukchi Sea off the Alaskan coast and the East Siberian Seas off the coast of eastern Russia, the report said.
The Chukchi Sea is home to one of two populations of Alaska polar bears. Nine polar bears were spotted swimming 15 to 65 miles off the Alaska shore, some of which were heading north apparently trying to reach the polar ice edge, which was 400 miles away. Despite their being brilliant swimmers they can’t really swim more than 100 miles at a time. The sea ice is essential for their orientation and survival.Bill Hare, Greenpeace Climate Policy Director also warned about methane "burps" in the Arctic as well. These latest reports from a Russian research vessel in the Arctic sea are very concerned about the danger of warming releasing methane stored in Arctic permafrost and undersea gas hydrates. -
What do I know? I like Ben Stein- LOL
-
Has anyone ever considered that God is in charge of Global warming?
-
Whether God is in charge or not, it still exists! And if you believe in God, and believe he's in charge of global warming, I don't think he'd like it if you denied one of his acts.
-
As long as Gov. Palin enjoys the votes of millions of Evangelicals over her beliefs, it doesn't matter to me one bit what her thoughts are about Creationism. Anne, I can say that John McCain can win with Sarah Palin on his ticket because she has values. Something that hasn't been a long suit for Obama.
-
I am very impressed with this woman. I have the same feeling in my gut that I have with McCain--- I trust her----
Frankly, if I see more of her like this, I may wind up having even more trust in her than McCain........
See for yourselves in this interview with Maria Bartaromo last week before she knew she'd be VP. She is very impressive!! Just listen.....

Here's the story on how Palin was picked:

She a great spokesperson for drilling as we all knew she would be. Thanks Susie that was an excellent video. I loved her comment about the naivety of Obama and Biden on the subject of drilling.
Once the sexist media gets over the fact that she's a woman, (when will that happen?) her energy credentials will take center stage and they'll stop seeing her as an alternative to Hillary. It might take awhile because it's a theme for them, but it won't hold water after the debates. Eventually, we all will see a woman as just a candidate, nothing more. I won't hold my breath during this election though because for the dems, it's either make fun of her, or slit their wrists.
-
80% approval rating! WOW that pretty much says it all. I'm impressed with her and NOT because she happens to be a woman.
I don't understand the thinking that McCain picked her only because she is a woman. She is experienced in the areas he is not (AND Obama and Biden too for that matter). Also it just seems like common sense to choose someone with her energy credetials. That is one of the biggest concerns for most Americans.
-
-
Can we clone her so that she can clean up Illinois. A reformer is just what this country needs, but about 50 more would be even better!
Susie, that article says it all, the left is running scared because they know she has what it takes. I do feel sorry for her family. It will be tough to deal with all the vultures attacking their loved one and the fact that they will have to move to DC from the wild blue yonder. No more mooseburgers.
I can't wait for the debates! If she can handle all those gun totin, macho men from AK, the DC arugela eaters will be a piece of cake. Wouldn't you love to see her play a game of HORSE with Obama (the basketball game, where if you miss and the other guy makes it, he gets a letter). Although Sarah might insist they call spell MOOSE instead.
Have the dates of the debates been scheduled yet? I am trying to plan a vacation, and I don't want to miss them. Am I crazy or what!!
-
I haven't supported my fellow Republicans as much as I should lately, but I do want to put in my two cents about Palin. I am thrilled with her nomination! She has guts, not afraid to stand up for what she believes and puts her money where her mouth is. Many of us who believe in Creation would like to have it taught along with evolution in public school, not instead of. Evolution is a theory, so both theories should be taught and let kids make their own decisions. She supports pro life and did so publicly with the birth of her own down's child. She supports our country with her own son going to Iraq. She cares about the things that matter to the average person.
I am conservative, but have always said I wouldn't mind a woman in the White House if I thought she could do a good job. I think she can and I will support her!
-
Speaking of the debates, we had the VP debates here in 2000, and they are trying to get them again. That would be soooooo cool.
-
Do these people never learn?----Let them keep it up and disgusted ticket splitters like me will vote straight Republican.
From the Weekly Standard:

Vile and Viler: Colmes and Sullivan
Earlier today, we took a look at Alan Colmes’ comments about Sarah Palin’s most recent pregnancy. Colmes wrote:
Rogers Cadenhead gives the timeline associated with the birth of her newest child. She had a speech in Dallas and, even after the water broke, continued with her activities, and then boarded a plane for home. She did consult by phone with her doctor. Still, a Sacramento, Calif., obstetrician who is active in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said when a pregnant woman's water breaks, she should go right to the hospital because of the risk of infection. That's true even if the amniotic fluid simply leaks out, said Dr. Laurie Gregg. While Colmes’s sudden concern for fetuses so long as they reside inside the body of conservative politicians is touching, some people inferred from this idiotic post that Colmes was suggesting that Palin’s putative poor judgment caused her baby to be born with Down syndrome. After sending the initial post down the memory hole, Colmes addressed this concern:
“I in no way mean to suggest that her child’s Down Syndrome was in any way related to decisions she made. In fact I never mentioned Down Syndrome in the post. However, I apologize that my post was not more clear on that point. That is my fault, and I’ll take responsibility for not being more clear on that point. “
Why anyone would infer bad faith when someone is belittling a politician’s handling of her own pregnancy is beyond me. Nevertheless, good of Alan to sort of man up.
At the other end of the crackpot conspiracy theory spectrum, we have Andrew Sullivan who seemingly blogs for the sole purpose of posing the existential question, “How many times can one man kill his own reputation?” Sullivan promulgates a theory that categorically rejects the notion that Palin irresponsibly handled her pregnancy. Why? Because Palin was never pregnant in the first place! Instead, she pretended to be pregnant and give birth (while a sitting governor!) in order to cover for her daughter who was in fact having the baby out of wedlock.
In his original post on the matter, Andrew stated that the rumor is “buzzing across the Internets” before calling them “unfounded and unseemly.” A full 41 minutes later, however, he characteristically disagreed with himself, inveighing, “This baby was a centerpiece of the public case for Palin made by the Republicans. They made it an issue - and therefore it is legitimate to ask questions about it.”
Speaking of the unseemly, contra Andrew, the story has not been buzzing across the Internets. Prior to Andrew propagating the rumors, they remained confined to the fever swamps where even on the Huffington Post the commentary was generally of the “Good god this is stupid” variety. At the Daily Kos, many of the commenters to the rumor-mongering diary lamented its idiocy and ugliness.
Since I know you’re dying to know the kind of persuasive logic that the Kos diarist displayed that piqued Andrew Sullivan’s interest, I offer the following excerpt:
“The final point of interest is that Trig Palin has been diagnosed with Down's (sic) syndrome (aka trisomy 21). This is an interesting point, as chances of having offspring with Down's (sic) Syndrome (sic) increases (sic) from under 1% to 3% after a mother reaches the age of 40. However, 80% of the cases of Down's (sic) Syndrome (sic) are in mother's (sic) under the age of 35 , through sheer quantities of births in this age group.”Someone better tell Alan Colmes – the Kos Kid has him dead to rights.
Both Andrew Sullivan and Alan Colmes did the exact same thing – they disseminated attacks so vile and idiotic they would never dare put their own names behind them. They used their platforms, platforms that lunatics who come up with such crackpottery typically lack, to get the attacks much more attention than they originally would have received.
Colmes and Sullivan did the exact same thing in another regard. Both men, in eagerly publicizing crackpot theories, showed the boundless desperation and ugliness that Sarah Palin will face. If ever there were examples of “kitchen sink” political tactics, the blogging efforts today of Sullivan and Colmes provide them.
And both men have provided early returns on our question, “How low will the left go?”Posted by Dean Barnett on August 31, 2008 08:46 PM | Permalink

I read a little on one of the links in your post. I'm seeing something very ugly indeed. Me think Rezko and Ayers and Obama should be well researched.
Susie, I've made my mind up. I'm voting a straight ticket this time. I'm sick to death of this crap. The woman hasn't even had a chance to speak and they're throwing BOULDERS at her!

I don't even get upset over that stuff any more because the dems are hanging themselves. The more they do it, the more disgusted people will get with their own party. I'm telling you, they are besides themselves over McCain choosing Palin, and they're only response is to fight dirty, or jump out of windows.
I heard yesterday, every reporter on this planet has arrived in Alaska to get the dirt. Meanwhile, we're still waiting for the real Ayers/Obama relationship to see the light of day. I know there's plenty there because it was in the book, The Obama Nation. Yet do we hear anything about it? Nope. This is what I know about it, all the excuses Obama has used about his actual long relationship with Ayers will not hold water. Will people care when the truth comes out? Probably not. Obama has lowered the bar of what we can expect to see in our future for candidates running for President.
-
Hmmm, let me introduce to you the democrats hopeful for Vice President of these United States, Joe BBBBBiden:
-
Rosemary: Making fun of someone's speech impediment is cruel.
-
Rosemary, that was an amazing video of the stubbling Biden. I watched some of the others too. He is going to put his foot in his mouth again, have no fear. At the end of one of the videos they took Obama's poster with HOPE on the bottom and changed it to NOPE. I loved it. I want one.
Cokie Roberts was on GMA today lamenting that BO did not get a bounce because of McCain's surprise announcement. She basically said something to the effect of, now we will see who Palin is when the press vet's her properly. Oh please, they have had 3 years to vet Obama and they have not done so, but they are going after Sarah with all their fangs out. Cokie also made a nasty comment about McCain showing up in the hurricane areas instead of his convention. If he went to the convention, they would also blast him, so he can't win. No mention of Obama doing the same thing of course. They all have to be there after what happened with Katrina. We can figure that out, so why does the press still try to make a story out of it.
They still do not understand that the public is smarter than them. The more crap they try to toss out there, like the stuff you mentioned Susie, the more independent voters will go for McCain. I think Palin will do a good job standing up to them and it will be a great opportunity for her to show people who she is. I am sure she had to put up with a lot with the old bears in AK so she will know what to do.
Cindy McCain gave a good interview with George Step. . . When he asked her about the criticism about her houses, she looked really good defending her father's hard work. Meanwhile she talked about what she has been doing last week, bringing aid to the people in Georgia. This woman is a doer. She has used her money for years to help others. She will make a great first lady. Lady DI Who? We will have Cindy McCain to show the world how generous America really is.
-
"Rosemary: Making fun of someone's speech impediment is cruel"
Blue, What I wrote has nothing to do with a speech impediment. You sound like a typical dem who can't come up with something to knock someone with that makes sense, instead you make it up as you go along. ENJOY YOURSELF.
I stand by my announcement of the drunken Biden.
-
LInda,
Did you see the one where Obama was introducing Joe as the next President of the United States? Perfect and very telling. They do it to themselves don't they?
I don't think Palin will be too upset with all the tough talk going on out there. She's a pro. The better way to handle it is not to acknowledge it. Just keep going regardless of how often they shoot themselves in the foot with one disgusting comment after another. Politics as usual for them.
-
Speaking of ABC's this week---First time in a looooong while they had anything approaching even handed-----Yes there was Sam Donaldson taking pot shots but on the whole good show.....
It was great to finally see George Will onboard and enthusiastic. Palin cinched the deal for him.......
As an aside, I did not know that George Will had a Down's Syndrome child.

I'm sure this won't matter either but I present it anyway:
Biden has deep ties to Rezko accomplice
JOSEPH CARI | 30-year friend of VP pick guilty in kickback scheme
August 25, 2008 Recommend (34)
BY DAVE MCKINNEY Staff Reporter/dmckinney@suntimes.comDENVER -- No matter what help Barack Obama might get from Sen. Joseph Biden, his newly named vice presidential running mate won't give Obama much cover on the Tony Rezko front.
Biden has described himself as a 30-year friend of a key figure in the Rezko trial who's pleaded guilty to a federal extortion charge in Chicago and is awaiting sentencing.
Joseph Cari Jr. (right), who took part in an $850,000 kickback scheme, was Joe Biden's Midwest field director.
(AP)
RELATED STORIESComplete Tony Rezko coverageWhen the Delaware senator began contemplating his own 2008 presidential run, he initially was helped by Chicago lawyer Joseph Cari Jr., who also served as Biden's Midwest field director in his failed 1988 bid for president.
In 2005, Cari admitted to taking part in an $850,000 kickback scheme that prosecutors say was part of a larger political fund-raising operation for Gov. Blagojevich overseen by Rezko, who was convicted in June of wide-ranging corruption involving state deals.
On the day Cari's name first surfaced in the federal probe of the state Teachers Retirement System, the former finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee and for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was to have hosted a Biden fund-raiser in Chicago. Cari was a no-show at that July 25, 2005, event.
Offering Cari a vote of confidence at the time, Biden said, "All I know is Joe Cari is a friend, and he's an honorable guy, but I don't know anything beyond that."
Biden took $2,000 in campaign contributions from Cari in the early and mid-1990s, federal campaign-finance records show.
Two other donors whose names surfaced in the Rezko case -- Chicago lawyers Myron "Mike" Cherry and Anthony Licata -- donated to Biden's U.S. Senate campaign, as well. Cherry has given Biden $5,900, while Licata gave $1,000. Neither Cherry nor Licata has been accused of any criminal wrongdoing.
Earlier this year, in a bid to distance Obama from Rezko, the Illinois senator's campaign fund gave away to charity an amount equal to what had been contributed to the Democratic presidential hopeful by Cari, Cherry and Licata.
The Obama campaign downplayed the significance of Cari's contributions to Biden, noting that Cari was a prolific donor to an array of other politicians, from Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) to Illinois' other Democratic senator, Dick Durbin.
Still, an Obama spokesman said Biden would follow Obama's lead and divest his campaign fund of any money from Cari.
"As the former national finance director for the DSCC and DNC, Mr. Cari was a fund-raiser for many prominent elected officials," spokesman Ben LaBolt said. "If any contributions from Mr. Cari have not been returned or donated it is an oversight, and they will be immediately."

Rosemary: "B-B-B- Biden" is not making fun of a speech impediment? Uh, ok. This thread cracks me up. You are all drinking the kool-aid. That said, there is nothing respectful about this thread at all. You all spend more time knocking the peoole who don't agree with your twissted views. I bet half of you just don't like Obama because he is not "your good ole' white boy yes man" I leave you with two recent comments in the papers:
Cindy McCain says that Palin has foreign policy experience because she comes from Alaska which is within three miles of the Russian territory. Uh, ok ....so Palin must also be an expert on Canadian politics since Alaska is really close there too.
Palin's own mother-in-law on Palin's run for VP..."I don't know what she brings to the table except that she is a woman and a conservative, but she IS a quick study".
That said, don't worry about responding. I am not looking at this thread again. It makes my blood pressure spike.
My prayers are with any of you living in the parth of the hurricane.
OBAMA?BIDEN '08.... YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
