Click here for some words of wisdom from Miz Sarah Silverman.
this is a cute PSA
-
bump! Peek at the other thread in the fundraisers discussion board. We have been challenged to raise $2100 in the next 21 days. If we forward the info to our friends and family and invite them to join our team, we can DO IT!
Thanks, ladies! Deb
-
bump, we're at 410, just 90 short of the goal set for the team!!!!! GO TEAM!!
-
Bump!
-
I'm so glad to see this is for all cancers and not just breast cancer and I hope the funds go to cancers that don';t have as much public and private funding as breast cancer, yet are just as or more deadly.
-
I agree with you Amy. Having a diagnosis of BC is rough but at least there are tests to assist in earlier detection and due to some great PR, kept on the front burner for research and treatment.
I long for the day when there is a reliable early test for ovarian cancer. So many are initially diagnosed at stage IV.
I hope that SU2C truly does change cancer research and treatment for ever!
-
Sisters,
Bumping this up. I hope Alaska Deb doesn't mind me using her as an example (I hope you understand, Deb), but I have been checking on her constantly, and it struck me that she is one of the very reasons we need to do this. For our sisters, and for each other. We are all here because we've walked the road, are walking the road, or afraid we are about to walk the road.
Stand up to cancer. Please. Join our team. -
I'm excited for Friday. We're having a BBQ so all of our out of town friends that are here for our party Sunday, can meet our friends from here.
Well, at 8pm, SU2C will be blasting from my 56'' flat screen in the living room.... and I will be front and center with all of my friends (all of which supported me in the most unbelievable way during cancer) I think it's going to be really incredible to watch the event with them.
Whoopsie did you put your story on the stand up page?
-
I did do the story, Beth. It was hard, like you said, cuz I had to cut it down about a thousand times.
OT, I wanted you to know that your post about your anniversary inspired me to throw away my bras. I've been holding them for 3 years. It's time, sister!
-
BUMP!!! Come on, ladies!!
-
I saw the program last night. Didn't realize we had a team.
I'll check out the link to "our" team today!!!
Bren
-
Bren, I replied to you in the other thread. The site makes no sense to me now, either
-
I couldn't find your team to donate .....
-
Did anyone see the program?? I didnt get to because I was traveling across the state and didnt get there in time to watch it.
I donated early on when this thread was started but havent been back to the site since...seems kind of strange that they would close the donation page down...you would think the would leave it open for sometime after the program aired so that people can donate.
Im at work this morning but when things slow down I plan to go to the site and look at the star that I launched for my friend from this web site that passed earlier this year. I will try to see if I can figure out the site and post here if there is a detailed way to get in to dontate.
-
I thought it was pretty good. I cried at some parts.... That one donor with the 25 million... that was really something.
I want to get one of the survivor t shirts.
-
Thank YOU for your incredible support. Stand Up To Cancer is proud to announce that from its launch on May 28, 2008, through last Friday's telecast, the initiative has raised more than $100 million!
The money raised by Stand Up To Cancer will now fund "Dream Teams" of the best and the brightest researchers from leading institutions around the world. These Teams will collaborate on accelerating cancer research, bringing new therapies to patients more quickly. We will keep everyone informed of our progress, and our goals. This is a fight that's just begun. Join us at standup2cancer.org to help and learn more.
-
Holy Crap! That's a lot of money raised!
Way to go, team! -
Stand Up To Cancer is thrilled to report that Pearce Quesenberry, who was interviewed by Katie Couric during the SU2C television event on September 5, just completed treatment and is now NED - No Evidence of Disease! To learn more about Pearce's winning fight, come read a personal update from Pearce and her mom, Debbie Quesenberry, right here.
Hope is the thing that keeps us going. Keeps us strong. Lets us endure. Gives us a reason to believe. It's what fuels every one of us in the fight, every survivor, every loved one, everyone connected by love or by loss or by genetics and biology. In this hopeful time of the year, let us salute every survivor young and old, big and small, whoever they are. Their stories are our stories. They belong to all of us. And they give us another reason, every day, to celebrate.
The SU2C Scientific Advisory Committee has now narrowed the field to eight finalists for its initial round of "Dream Team" Grants, specially chosen from the 237 submissions the SAC received from scientists throughout the world. These grants are due to be awarded in the Spring of 2009. And in the words of committee members Philip Sharp, Ph.D., Arnold Levine, Ph.D., Brian Drucker, M.D. and Raymond DuBois, M.D., PhD, "From every vantage point, the submissions were extraordinary....The process clearly inspired applicants to think creatively about how they could reach across natural boundaries, of both institutions and nations, to collaborate more effectively and accelerate progress." The generosity of you, our donors, made this possible. To read a comprehensive report from the distinguished scientists and physicians who lead the remarkable SU2C effort, please click here.
