Danke schoen, Eddie! (und guten morgen!) And thus concludes pretty much all the German I remember from a couple weeks of hitchhiking. (Too broke for Eurail pass.)
Re: wrist pain. Eddie, I am sure this is NOT "it" but wanted to pass this along anyway. My friend had extremely painful wrists that woke her up at night. Turns out, she was developing carpal tunnels syndrome from -- get this -- sleeping, as many people do, in a semi-fetal position with her hands curled up against her chest. Over time, her bent wrists were pinching off her circulation,. Ever since my friend told me this, I -- who prides herself on projecting a fierce, independent NON FETAL POSITION SLEEPING front and go to bed sleeping on my back with my feet up -- noticed that I not only shift to a less regal position during the night, but I sleep on TOP of my curled hands for good measure.
I saw a rubber foob on the sidewalk yesterday. I swear that's what it was. I'll see if it is still there today and if it is, I'll snap a photo. (Were one of you here and didn't call??!!)
Karin -- LOVE THE VIDEOS. How on earth did you find them??????
Noelle-- Perhaps you were witnessing boobrubber's breast self exam??
-
Eddie - along the lines of what Rock is talking about. I had a similar problem years ago, with my wrists and forearms. Occupational therapist identified it as an issue with my Ulna nerve and was because I slept with my wrists curled up against my chest or neck. As we have learned the neuropathy is an issue with the nerves. So I wonder if your ulna nerves could be agitated. Normally not a problem for you but with the addition of Taxol...who knows. Would you consider sleeping with wrist braces to see if that helps?
I don't remember where your shingles were but while reading up on neuropathy, my pamphlet mentions that shingles is an infection of the nerves. Since your shingles outbreak was so close to your Taxol tx, it makes me wonder if that could impact the severity of your SE's.
I hate to see you guys experiencing such severe pain from tx. I hope you are all getting some relief today.

What Adrienne said! What Adrienne said! (Yes! Not circulation ... nerves! Jeesh but my recall is bad.)
-
Ist das nicht eine Schnitzelbank? Ja, das ist eine Schnitzelbank. That's the extent of my German. Brings back great memories of being a child singing this song at family get togethers.
Rock - I found them by googling hand dance. I too was going to suggest you do a hand dance for me. I was searching for a silly hand dance photo to insert like I did with girl walking on hands. My search lead me to YouTube. Clicking on different hand dances lead me to Brad. Wouldn't you just love to have him as a chemo buddy going to do infusions with you? Oh the trouble we would get into but oh what fun it would be.
Enjoy the day, Karin

Have you Taxol ladies found that the pain is in places that you have had weakness or injury b4?
By the last treatment I decided for sure that it hit weak spots stonger than others. ie. I have bad hips and knees and the pain was the worst in those spots. By tx#4, the pain started ( I hate to tell you this, but I would rather you know) in my eyeballs and went south down through the whole body ....I can tell you which teeth have cavities etc etc.
Or maybe I am just nuts.
Chemoooo!

Rock~ it was probably just a fresh chicken cutlet you saw on the sidewalk... LOL
eddie~ woohooo! yay for a cyst! Sounds weird to be excited over something like that but in our position I'm for it.
How's everyone else doing? I've been so wrapped up in my own self pity lately I feel Like I have neglected some of you. I hope all is doing well this week. Who is up this week??? Too bad there isn't a live chatroom in here, I bet we could cause a riot somedays lol.
I'm doing a tad better today. Legs a smidge achey a well as my knees. My feet.... I can count how many carpet nubs are under them at any given time right now. And my tongue is starting to come back, I can actually taste the zuchinni bread my mom brought up for me woohooo!
Hasta luego! (see you later)
-
YOu rock, Rock. It was me...stalking all foobs in the middle of the night desperate to be less lopsided searching for my lost boob.
-
Rock,
I feel I should congratulate you for using the phrases "rubber boob" and "boob rubber" in the same post. A true accomplishment of linguistic symmetry!!!!!
And ubiquitous to boot!!
Sorry for those who are hurting and wishing you soft pillows for elevating your achy parts...
Just a quick pop-in as I am at work but missed you guys all of a sudden...
Love,
Sue

Lewing and anyone else on Thursday,
I'm up for Taxotere #2 on Thursday so tell me which lake were going to ....somewhere in Italy did you say?
I survived #1 without to many battle wounds, had a couple days of good body aches starting day 3, which seemed to effect my ears and my teeth also. It was like having several toothaches and earaches at once , but didn't last too long. My main complaint was having a sore throat starting day 4 which lasted about 4 days. Also my mouth having the feeling like i had just come home from the dentist and it was coming out of freezing and the on the edges of the tongue it felt like those candy sores you can get. It did start to clear up around day 9 and did not produce any mouth sores so I'm lucky i guess. Did not have any problems with the feet or hands other than the nail beds were sore for a couple days, but that cleared up also. (they had the ice gloves on me so whether that made a difference or not who knows)
So now getting geared up for Thursday, will start with the Decadron tomorrow and try to get house in order and put one more tx behind me. Then only one more to go, yippee! Then off to rads, which i think will be a piece of cake compared to this!
Hope everyone had a great weekend, and this week brings lots of sunny ,happy, SE free days your way!

Hey everyone. I am in for lake Cuomo on Thursday. First Taxol and I am nervous.
Yesterday, my brother came up and visited for the day. He wins best bro ever. Showed up with 2 big boxes of Costco foods: sausages, hot dogs, hamburgers, bread, chips, potato salad, starwberry pund cake and fixins. Yum! He and dh cooked it all and the kids will be able to eat for a couple of dys now. Also, he had to brng over this huge sack of halloween sizedcandy, and I had to hide it this morning since all of it seesm to be getting squirrelled awayin the bedrooms!
So, I had a productive day, but by the end, I could tell my counts were crashing, I could barel;y stay awake.
BTW, Costco sells these incredible chicken and apple sausages, and he also brought over their spicy mango sausages. Loaded with jalepenos and really hot as my bum can attest this morning (TMI, lol). But I couldn't resist and had one for lunch and one for dinner and I was toast the rest of the night.
See you lakeside!

RanD -- Nerves before taxol #1 are COMPLETELY understandable. But odds are very good that it will come off without a hitch.
1. Allergic reactions are very rare.
2. If you don't have a port, there may be some burning when the benadryl is infused, but this is normal and will pass.
3. I felt really loopy and then sleepy. Otherwise, overraching emotion has been one of boredom.
*****
Sue -- who knew I was so clever? Not me. Do I get points for roob bubber? Just wonderin'.
Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed that the onco will let me go back to DD Taxol! If not tomorrow, then soon!!! I'm so happy for those of you who are finishing or approaching the end, and yet so very, very jealous.
-
Good luck randie on thursday. I can say the se's are a tad bit better but not by much in my view. Definately get something for your feet to be comfy in. I broke down and bought my ugly crocs today.... been complaining about these shoes since they come out and now here i am wearing a bright blue pair. and I even bought a flower to put on one LOL.
-
Rock - I'll be crossing my fingers for you!
Randie - good luck on Thursday. I understand being nervous. I remember how nervous I was before my first Taxol. For me, Taxol has been a breeze when compared to A/C. I have two more tx (tomorrow being tx #3) and I hope they follow the same pattern as the first two.
Sable - I bought my Crocs (MaryJane style) on July 4th. I haven't worn another shoe since then. They are so comfy. DH, DS and I go for a brisk walk each night...I wear my crocs then also. They may not be the prettiest shoe but at this point...what the hell do I care. I'm bald and lopsided...I don't think anyones noticing my shoes. LOL

Sable -- I love your shoes because they are exactly like mine. Only mine have a little snail on them instead of a flower. Your feet look so dainty. And I swear, they bring out the blue in your eyes!
Adrienne -- I'll meet you at the lake tomorrow. Perhaps we could grill some vegetables? Or go kayaking?
-
Ladies,
Good luck to all traveling to Lake Cuomo, remember your SPF 60, 70?. Hope your SE's are minimal. Finally feeling better, no more bone pain. Rock, I'll cross my fingers (and toes since I can feel them now) that DD is back on schedule. Speaking of foobs, I have a pair of partylite tea light holders that look like implants. I got them as a gift last year. I can't stand looking at them anymore. Everyone's commented on much they look like implants. I just may have to frisbee toss them out the window. Aargh!
-
I get such a kick out of those of you who keep changing your avatars. It adds an element of suspense and intrigue to this site. "Hmmm . . . I wonder who Sable will be today?" I love the crocs!
Mainly, I just wanted to let the Wednesday crowd know that I'm channeling positive energy in your direction as best I can. Randie and angels: see you at Lake Como on Thursday. I'd offer to buy a round of Campari, if the color didn't remind me too much of Adriamycin . . .

Not sure if I'm first up or not. They changed my time to 9:15am Eastern time. I'm sure the Decadron will keep me up all night so I'll just hang down by the lake and watch the sunset.
I'll then go back to the shore and try to sleep under the stars. Maybe counting them will help. See you in the morning. Oh could someone bring me a cup of coffee? Thanks
Switching things around, Enjoy the night, Karin
-
Okay, you've asked for it. My avatar without the wig...still got a few hairs just for the cushion.
-
Croc question:
with or without socks? I saw some fakes today at walmart for $5, not sure of the chinese plastic will casue my feet to peel and rot...anythoughts? Last month Costco had beach crocs for $25, and I thought abot it, then dh was in a hirry so I passed them up. I'll look for them tomorrow when I go in for blood counts...

Roxi, You got it goin' ON! (It's wonderful. It really is.)
Karin, kayaking at sunset. What a calming image. I am going to add it to my list of things I want to do in the next ten years.
LInda -- I have a rose Prosecco that I'm quite fond of. (Don't tell anybody but I drank 75% of a bottle of Prosecco last night. I figured it was good for my anemia.)
-
Roxi,
Love the new avatar. Don't know why you waited so long. See how good this thread is for all of us. We are among friends so it gives us the courage to try out our new outer imagages with others. When I first shaved my head I posted picture here before I even unveiled my head to friends here at home.
Enjoy the day, Karin
-
Roxi! you look fabulous daulink! Lovin it!!!
randie... with socks... can't stand my feet to sweat ick. I went straight for the real things. After hearing about the flipflops that made people's feet burn I wasn't taking anymore chances. Paid $29 for mine today at a sporting goods store. woohoo made it out of the house!
-
Roxi - You look MAHHHHVELOUS!!! Honestly, you do!!
Rock - A little kayaking sounds perfect. Will be thinking of you tomorrow morning. Sending major vibes to your Onc...Let Rock go DD!!
Randie - definitely socks. Flip Flops are all I can wear barefooted. Hate the feeling of shoes with no socks. I also got mine at a sporting goods store. They are so comfy. I think they'll be worth getting the real thing.
-
Thanks ladies!!!! I take it all off at home and all my kids friends see me bald. I also swap to a scarf at the gym. I shared an area with some little girls from the day camp program who couldn't help but stare. I just wiggled my wig and gave them a big smile. Oh happy day. You guys are the best. Good luck again tomorrow.
-
Roxi - love the new av - you look incredible!
Rock, Adrienne, Karin and Gracie - meet you at the Lake tomorrow. Rock - sending positive thoughts and hoping you get back on the bi-weekly schedule. I go at 9:40 CST.
Wishing all the Thursday folks well. Randie, we will be thinking of you!
Of course I loved the kayak picture . . . I was just investigating (today) a multi day kayak trip around Friday harbor. I have been there once and cannot wait to go back.

too tired to type...chemooooooo to y'all!
-
Wow, so many things to comment on: Roxi's new av (LOVE IT!!); foobs on the sidewalk (WTH?); boobrubbers in the showers ("Excuuuusse me?!" Although I had to laugh into my armpit not to wake the kids up, Noelle); crocs (ordered mine from footsmart.com on Sunday); sucky SE's (yes, Eddie, 800 mg of ibuprofen - just say NO to pain!!) and dancing bald guys with IV poles (maybe he should be next to the boobrubber?)
Didn't have any energy left last night after taking the kids and grandparents to the fair. Little dd performed with her dance class and we ate badly and watched the kids ride some rides. Fun, but tiring and at least it was not hot. It is usually in the 100's during fair time. I had gelato, apparently in a mind-meld support of going to Italy this week. Can we go next week, too? I've always wanted to go and plan to still!
So, this is the list as I wrote it down while I caught up (a little late, but...):
Wednesday - Gracie (FEC #4); Rock (T#? and hopefully back to DD); Adrienne (T #3); Jean (T #2); and the winner is... Karin (T/C - ALL DONE!!! YAAAY!)
Thursday - Randie (T #1 - Good luck!!); Angels (T #2); Linda (T #3)
It's interesting to see that most of us are on one of the taxanes at this point. I think Gracie and I are the late bloomers (we'll finish together!). Sue - I can't remember what you are on and which one (#) it is. I have one more C/C next week. With different antinausea meds...Here's a "chemoooo" for the Wednesday group!
