Verzenio Anemia (Normal Iron + B12)

Options

Hello, I'd like to start off by saying I am posting for my mother who is the breast cancer patient. She also does not have stage 4 but I believe this subforum would be best to post in since a lot would be on cdk4/6 inhibitors which my mother is on. Hope this is okay.

Has anyone developed Anemia as a result of taking Verzenio. My mom is on 100mg twice per day due to high risk of recurrence (stage 3C). Her blood work this past month has been anemic. (RBC: 3.35, Hemoglobin: 10.7, Hematocrit: 31.9%). Her onco ordered a ton of panels to check what is the cause of the anemia. We got a few results today and her Iron and B12 are completely within normal range. Has anyone else have anemia from a cdk4/6 inhibitor and their iron + b12 were fine? How does one counter the anemia in this scenario? I know that stopping the drug or reducing the dose are options but my mom is very high risk of recurrence and ideally would like to say on verzenio.

We won't be able to speak to her onco until next week. Hoping to get some feedback on others in similar situations.

Verzenio caused anemia for me. It is something that MO is monitoring with monthly blood work. He said that is all he will do until hemoglobin is 7 or lower. My hemoglobin hangs out in the low 8s (dipping to 7.9 in March). Platelets are also very low (99).

Side effects from anemia that I seem to have are:

    Cold hands and feet

    Weakness

    Shortness of breath

    Headache

    Right now, hemoglobin is 8.4.

I suspect I could ask for dose lowering but having good results from Verzenio was more important to me.

Last scan showed progression so I suspect I will be changing treatments and hope hemoglobin will jump up from that.
