9 Years MBC—CA 27 29 Question

Options

Hi, my tumor markers have always been in normal range even though I’m metastatic. The last 6 months they have slowly crept up: CA 27 29 = 55 and CA 15.3 = 38. I just had a PET scan and it was good in that I only have a small lung nodule that slightly lights up—nothing else. What else could be causing these markers to increase? Ulcerative colitis (under control now)? Cannabis (added 6 months ago)? Caffeine (started drinking again 6 months ago after 9 years of not drinking it)? Iasked for a brain MRI since it’s been a year & that’s scheduled for early May.

Sorry to hear that this is causing you concern. My doctors do not use tumor markers so I can’t offer you any further insight but someone may come along soon who can. On a somewhat related note I asked my mo many years ago what happens when those who do use tumor markers see a rise in the markers. She said that they are sent for PET scans and then a biopsy if needed so I hope this gives you some comfort as your PET was good. Take care.
