Resuming treatment after surgery

    Hello everyone.

I had a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders on March 2nd, and am scheduled for DIEP flap surgery April 29th. I was supposed to have everything done at the same time but surgery was delayed that day so that's why I'm in this situation and don't want to postpone reconstruction too long.

My oncologist wants me to hold off taking Tamoxifen and starting Kadcyla until after surgery, around 2 weeks. (I did also have neo adjuvant therapy with Taxol, Herceptin and Perjeta).

Anyway, is it ok to wait two months to resume treatment? I know my doctor said I'll be ok, but I'm a worrier.

    Thanks for any feedback.

There's never a guarantee or a specific time frame. It depends on your individual risk and diagnosis, and what you want to do. Your doctor said it's fine. And what would your other options be anyway?
