My doctor called me and cancelled and/or postponed chemo because he said my onyc score was very low and my a was grade two- four lymph nodes. He said he would manage it on Tamoxephen. Any opinions on this?

Good news! My MO thought I'd need chemo because of a micromet, but my Oncotype score was 17, so I didn't need it.

You could ask your MO about using the Oncotype RSClin tool. It is meant to individualize the recommendation by taking into account other factors such as your age. Here is a post about it:

My oncotype was a 10 and I had 3 positive nodes. I'm doing chemo, 4 cycles of TC. I saw 2 oncologists. One said definitely chemo because I'm only 45 and there were positive nodes and he wants to make sure it's gone. The other said chemo was a reasonable consideration and would recommend it but with a low threshold to stop if side effects are too much. He also mentioned it came down to personal preference and what I could live with, would I worry constantly about not doing chemo and if it came back would I be upset or would I be ok just moving on and deal with it if I had a reoccurrence. But both said the biggest benefit would be from the hormone blockers and ovary suppression. I still don't know if I made the right decision and I'm halfway through chemo!

Elliotu- Can you advise how many lymph nodes if any were positive? You said in original post 'grade two four lymph nodes'. Do you have four positive nodes? I had four involved nodes (2 sentinel nodes with micromets and 2 fully positive axillary nodes) and an Oncotype of 3 and I had chemo. My oncologist changed chemo regime once we got Oncotype back to four weeks of TC. Oncotype score good for 1-3 nodes and although I had four involved nodes he was encouraged by the low Oncotype. Maybe complete your stats so others can see what you’re dealing with and can better advise. My cancer was grade 2 as well and I was 49 when dx. I always leaned towardsthe aggressive side of treatments so was ok with doing the chemo.

I had a lumpectomy almost four weeks ago and went for a second opinion yesterday. She recommended the Oncotype test (I had heard of it but didn't really know what it was). The first oncologist I met with recommended four rounds of TC followed by radiation and then an estrogen blocker for five years. I am having the test done but the results won't be back for at least two weeks. Even without knowing what the results will be I'm conflicted. Is chemo really best thing to do to ensure my cancer won't return? I don't want to take any chances but on the other hand chemo doesn't sound like a lot of fun

I am over 70 and I had three positive nodes and one node with isolated cancer cells. The surgeon removed 25 nodes in total. My onyc score was 7 . So they are leaning toward tamoxifen for 7 years
